Concepções de sexualidade e direitos humanos: uma análise psicopolítica a partir das paradas do orgulho LGBT de São Paulo e Campinas / Conceptions of sexuality and human rights: a psicopolitical analysis from the LGBT pride parades in São Paulo and Campinas.Fábio Ortolano 16 December 2014 (has links)
The thesis presented here brings a psicopolitical analysis over the conceptions of sexuality and human rights from the LGBT Pride Parades in São Paulo and Campinas, in a epistemological perspective on the production of senses and meanings in the daily life. Initially, we present our theoretical research, the conceptions of sexuality and human rights, based on the work of references in this field; thereafter, we describe our methodology, which is based on a survey and in the analysis of the discourse as technical-theoretical method in which is possible to assess relevant data. Thus, we present our respondents profiles and we define our research field, showing how political psychology is, for us, a way of interdisciplinary studies. Finally, we show the discussion between the theory firstly presented and the data collected through the survey and our respondents discourses collected through the open questions, concluding the psicopolitical analysis of the results and the current political scenario over LGBTs DDHH in Brazil, which implies an understanding of the positions of political subjects participating in this collective action and offers us possibilities for public policy and education for human rights.

A case for peace photojournalism in Northern Ireland: A media content analysis.Shebib, Lisa A. January 2017 (has links)
Contemporary studies of Peace Journalism have yet to examine how
photographs, as visual content captured by print media, fit within the model
of Peace Journalism. In this research, a content analysis of press images
was conducted using predefined methodology on newspaper coverage of the
annual July 12th Drumcree Parades (Marching) in Portadown, Northern
Ireland, during the pre-, intra-, and post-peace process that occurred
between 1996 and 2000. In most newspapers, the proportions of both
violent/aggressive and nonviolent/non-peaceful content were higher in the
relatively peaceful period of 2000, as compared to their proportions in at least
one of the other ‘violent’ years of 1996 and 1998. No overall trend in content
was observed in relation to the level of violence across 1996 to 2000. During
this period, media practice in Portadown, Northern Ireland did not support the
publication of newspaper commensurate with actual level of violence in the
Northern Ireland or the depictions of peace building and the peaceful
resolution of conflict. The implications of these findings for the development
of ‘Peace Photojournalism’ are explored.

"Throw Me Something, Mister": The History of Carnival Throws in New OrleansCapo, Lissa 20 May 2011 (has links)
Mardi Gras draws millions of tourists to New Orleans yearly, contributing to the economy of the city. Visitors soon discover the thrill of catching "throws" tossed to paradegoers by members of parade organizations' riding floats. For tourists and locals alike, throws become the cultural currency of New Orleans during Carnival. Beads, doubloons, coconuts, cups and other throws develop an inherent value, enticing crowds. People esteem throws enough to compete for them, with varying levels of intensity, along parade routes and on the streets of the French Quarter. The purchase of throws by Carnival krewes also brings revenue into New Orleans. Scholars have written many studies on Mardi Gras, including studies on individual organizations, tourism and economy. However, no study examines the history of Mardi Gras throws. This thesis seeks to fill that void, and establishes an earlier date for the first time beads were thrown from floats.

Research on Assemblies and Parades Handled by Police Organizations Analysis the cases of assemblies and parades in Kaohsiung City ¡]during the period from 2001 to 2005¡^Si, Dong-Li 11 August 2005 (has links)
This paper is mainly anchored in assemblies and parades handled by police agency¡¨. First of all, assemblies and parades are the basic human rights protected by our constitution. The purpose of the police¡¦s involvement in the handling of those activities is to safeguard citizens¡¦ exercise of their rights. Secondly, from analysis of practical cases and through verification of experimental activities and modification of theories, reasonable and proper principles of handling such activities can be submitted as a reference for policemen¡¦s law enforcement and education and training. Finally, the study discusses the contents and regulations of the Law of Parade and Demonstration. It also provides directions of modification of the law through theories and experiments in order to make the law more perfect, protect human rights granted by the constitution, and further inspire people¡¦s law-abiding spirit.
From my practical experiences in handling assemblies and parades over the years in police organizations of basic level and this study, the author found that the cases of assemblies and parades in Kaohsiung City during the period from 2001 to 2005 were different in their types. Case-by-case analysis, examination of evidence and deductive method were adopted to examine if the police adhere to the principles of ¡§protecting lawful assemblies¡¨, ¡§banning unlawful assemblies, and ¡§imposing sanction against violence¡§, and if they take the positions of ¡§To rule by law¡¨, ¡§administrative neutrality¡¨ and ¡§strict enforcement of law¡¨ at the same time. If not, the results will turn out to be different.
In recent years, people¡¦s political consciousness has been rising and the assertion of individual rights and interests has aroused more and more attention. Besides, the two-party system has almost taken shape in Taiwan. Consequently, assemblies and parades become normal in today¡¦s plural and diversified society. The police should know how to play the role of law enforcement and protector correctly. To achieve the goal, the policemen should accumulate their practical experiences and carry out case analysis continuously. By combining ¡§theories¡¨ with ¡§practices¡¨ together, this study reflects the advantages and disadvantages of the police in handling assemblies and parades at current stage, and point out the direction of amendment to the present Law of Parade and Demonstration. Finally, this study submits one set of concrete and feasible plan for the police agency to follow, and I hope that the plan will be helpful in handling assemblies and parades in the future.
