A presente pesquisa constitui uma abordagem sobre Corumbá, cidade edificada sob um platô calcário à margem direita do rio Paraguai, região noroeste do estado de Mato Grosso do Sul. O local é marcado por uma forte personalidade espacial, referenciada na sua fisiografia natural e na permanência de uma cultura material representativa enquanto bem patrimonial, em parte reconhecida como patrimônio histórico, paisagístico e artístico nacional. Estas características espaciais de Corumbá colocaram-se como objeto desta investigação acadêmica, realizada sob a perspectiva conceitual de patrimônio ambiental urbano, privilegiando a reflexão sobre dois temas importantes e sempre atuais dentro do campo atuação da ciência geográfica: o planejamento e a identidade espacial dos lugares. Como resultado, a cidade revelou-se, diante de sua representatividade material, favorável em retratar a problemática que envolve a questão da preservação patrimonial no Brasil, bem como seus resultados afetos aos fatores de qualidade ambiental, de civilização urbana e identidade. Por fim, ressalta-se que a leitura apresentada neste trabalho resulta de uma construção sistemática, referenciada nos propósitos estabelecidos pelo projeto de pesquisa iniciado no ano de 2003. As reflexões alcançadas no trato dessa temática resultaram de duas preocupações centrais referentes à realidade da área estudada e que constituíram os principais esforços de sua investigação: a caracterização dos elementos de cultura material e de fisiografia representativos do patrimônio ambiental urbano de Corumbá e a problemática que envolve sua preservação enquanto materialidade expressiva na definição de uma identidade espacial. / This present research is an approach about Corumbá, a city built over a limestone Plateau, on the right bank of Paraguay River, in the northwest region of Mato Grosso do Sul. The place is marked by its intense spacious personality, which is respected by its natural physiography and its permanence as a representative material culture while a patrimonial asset, recognized as a National and Historical Heritage. These space characteristics of Corumbá were the subjects of this academic inquiry carried out under the assessed perspective of urban and environmental heritage, favoring a reflection about two important and current subjects: the planning and the space identity of the places. As a result, in the face of its material representation, the city showed favorable to portray the problem which involves the patrimonial preservation question in Brazil, as well as its results related to the factors of environmental quality, urban civilization and identity. At last, it is emphasized that the reading presented in this work results from a systematic construction concerned to the purposes established by the research proposition started in 2003. The achieved reflections related to the theme resulted from two main worries concerning the reality of the studied field and which constituted the efforts to this investigation: the characterization of the material culture elements and the representative physiography of its urban heritage in Corumbá and the problem which involves its preservation while an expressive materiality defines the space identity.

Trata do conflito entre o processo de requalificação urbana desencadeado pelo projeto Alegra Centro, e a atual política de Gestão Estratégica e City Marketing desenvolvida pela municipalidade. Abarca ainda a implementação das políticas urbanas baseadas nos projetos \"âncora\", e nos Focos de Desenvolvimento do Centro Histórico, ambas prevendo a parceria pública/privada como desencadeadora do processo de gentrificação. Aborda experiências de revitalização e requalificação vividas no exterior - Itália, Espanha e Argentina, e, no Brasil - Salvador, Recife e Vitória. Ao final, enfoca o patrimônio ambiental urbano de Santos a partir de dez focos de desenvolvimento, analisando-os enquanto instrumentos de recuperação do patrimônio edificado mais antigo para o uso do turismo histórico e cultural. / The present work searches to draw an urban, historical and current panorama, of the public politics implanted in the municipal district of Santos, especially in those turned to the older central area of the city, starting from the second half of the century XX. It treats of the conflict between the urban requalification process unchained by the project \"Alegra Centro\", and the current politics of Strategic Administration and City Marketing developed by the municipality. It still embraces the implementation of the urban politics based on the projects \'anchor\', and on the Focuses of Development of the Historical Center, both foreseeing the public and private partnership broken out by the gentrification process. It approaches revitalization experiences and requalification lived abroad - Italy, Spain and Argentina, and, in Brazil - Salvador, Recife and Vitória. At the end, it focuses the urban environmental patrimony of Santos starting from ten development focuses, analyzing them while instruments of recovery of the older built patrimony for the use of the historical and cultural tourism.

Este trabalho caracteriza se por realizar um estudo das transformações ocorridas no patrimônio ambiental urbano da região central de Lorena por meio de uma abordagem da construção histórica social da cidade, desde a formação do seu núcleo inicial, que resultou em um importante patrimônio ambiental urbano, visando identificar e compreender as transformações ocorridas neste patrimônio no período que se estende desde sua formação até os dias atuais, ressaltando sua importância como expressão de cultura e identidade local. Está construída a partir de reflexões que pretendem explorar o valor aferido ao patrimônio ambiental urbano da cidade pela comunidade e sua preservação e conservação como um dos alicerces do desenvolvimento sustentável da sociedade local. / This work characterize itself by to realize a study of changes that happened in urban environmental of the central region of Lorena through a historical social construction of the city since the formation of its initial core, which resulted in a important heritage urban environment of the city, to identify and understand the changes that happened during the period that extends from its formation until the present day, emphasizing its importance as an expression of culture and local identity. Is built from ideas that intend to exploit the value measured at urban environmental heritage of the city by the community and its preservation and conservation as one of the foundations of sustainable development of local society.

O presente trabalho pretende contribuir com o aprofundamento da discussão em torno das dinâmicas espaciais urbanas materializadas nas permanências e transformações na paisagem urbana. A partir de tais dinâmicas se constituem os patrimônios históricos e culturais como proposta institucional para a consolidação e a permanência de determinados valores e identidades significativas. O objetivo geral é fornecer subsídios para compreensão de tais dinâmicas a partir da dimensão cultural da cidade, tomando o Centro de São Paulo como objeto. O objetivo específico é identificar e compreender as condições em que se constituem os significados do patrimônio ambiental urbano a partir das práticas sociais. Neste sentido, proponho a noção de focos qualitativos como lugares portadores de um potencial de significação que, independentemente de incluírem elementos arrolados oficialmente como bens patrimoniais, desempenham o papel de referência, orientação e identidade espacial na perspectiva do espaço vivido e do cotidiano do habitante. Esta hipótese implica em que os focos qualitativos constituam instrumento para a formulação das condições de qualificação do espaço urbano através da compreensão dos modos pelos quais os valores propostos pelo patrimônio ambiental urbano são vivenciados e apropriados nas práticas sociais e no cotidiano / The present work intends to contribute with the deepening of the discussion around the urban space dynamics, materialized in the permanence and changes in urban landscape. Such dynamics constitute the historic sites and cultural heritage as the institutional proposal to consolidate and conserve significant social values and identities. Thus, the general objective is to supply subsidies to understanding such dynamics from the perspective of the city\'s cultural dimension, taking São Paulo downtown as object. The specific objective is to identify and understand the conditions of constitution of the urban environmental heritage meanings from the perspective of social practices. In this way, I consider the notion of qualitative foci as places of potential meaning that, independently of being officially admitted as cultural heritage, play the role of reference, orientation and space identity in the perspective of the lived space and the daily life of the inhabitants. This hypothesis implies that qualitative foci constitute an instrument to formulate the conditions of urban space qualification through the understanding of the ways in which the values proposed by the environmental urban heritage are lived and appropriated in social practices and daily life.

A verificação dos processos de mutação do Largo Marquês de Monte Alegre, no bairro do Valongo em Santos e, sua conturbada relação com a faixa portuária e frente de água, são o objetivo desta pesquisa. Partindo da análise sistemática de seus elementos constitutivos: geográficos, arquitetônicos, infra-estruturais, urbanos e sociais, são delineados os fatores que determinaram sua construção, sua centralidade e, posteriormente, os fenômenos de degradação e esvaziamento funcional. Aplica-se o termo zona de fronteira ao lugar, por seu caráter emblemático e mutante, onde, através da compreensão e percepção de seu valor histórico, de memória e permanência do patrimônio urbano, é apontada a possibilidade e desejo de sua recuperação, retomando sua condição de centro e elemento indutor da reconversão de toda área histórica da cidade. / The verification of Largo Marquês de Monte Alegre mutation process, in the neighborhood of Valongo in Santos City, and the complex relationship between Santos port and its waterfront, is the main objective of this research. Starting from the systematic analysis of its constituent elements: geographic, infrastructure, urban and social, its possible to outline the mechanisms that once determinated its construction, its centrality and, later, the degradation process and functional emptiness. The term frontier zone can be applied to this place, due to its emblematic and mutant character, where, through the understanding and perception of its historical value, memory and remains of urban patrimony, it opens the possibility and desire for its recovery, bringing back its center condition and inductor element for the whole regeneration of Santos city historical area.
