Linguagem e corpo em Merleau-Ponty : reflexôes sobre os processos de referenciação /

Vezali, Patrik Aparecido. January 2005 (has links)
Abstract: In this dissertation we will show, through contribution of the philosophy Merleau-Ponty, focusing the conception of expression and the referention processes, however relations between language, body and life's world is formed the simbolism and the signification. Can white noise be processed in order to affect the perceived scariness of a game level

Kamlund, Robin January 2017 (has links)
In this research, a horror game level was created using ”Unreal Engine 4” (Epic games, 2017) where white noise and processed noises was used as ambiences in order to see how it affects the perceived emotions amongst the participants. A pre-study was conducted in order to choose the stimuli for the main experiment and to test attributes. A pilot test was conducted to test the game level to find out any flaws. In the main experiment twenty participants took part in playing the finalized game level and answering a questionnaire. The results showed a change in the emotional quality depending on the noise being present, but it’s unclear if this is caused by the filtering of the noises alone or the filtering of the noises combined with other factors. A post hoc test was also conducted where a valence and arousal chart was created by letting the participants pin point the emotional attributes used in the experiments.

Skolsköterskans upplevelse av arbetet med att främja högstadieelevers psykiska hälsa / Experience of the school nurse regarding needs to promote high school students' mental health

Björsing, Malin, Casparson, Ida, Olofsson, Louise January 2015 (has links)
Research shows that the mental health of Swedish students is increasing and that the school nurse has an important health-promoting role. The mental health among students can lead to a weaker performance capacity or that the students don´t manage to finish their studies. The aim of the study was to describe the school nurse´s experience of the mental health promoted work among high school students. Six school nurses from two municipalities in Skåne were interviewed from a strategic selection on the basis of demographic data. The interviews were processed using a qualitative content analysis. The result of the study is presented in a general theme; collaboration and good organization, with a student centered approach to prevent mental health which are prerequisites in order to pursue the health promoting work successfully. Three categories emerged from the theme that describes the school nurses´ experience of the health promoted work; cooperation is needed in the health promoted work, the school nurse is an active operator in the health promoted work and it requires that the school nurses work from a student perspective. The subcategories describe further aspects that are meaningful in the health promoted work such as parental cooperation, the school nurse´s commitment, availability, capacity to form relations and empowerment. The results of this study are important in the school nurse´s health promoted work in order to strengthen the students mental health. Further research within the health promoted work from the student´s perspective is needed in order to obtain both aspects of health promotion and to get the knowledge what the pupils want and need.

Perceived factors influencing participation in workplace sports and recreation among non-medical staff members at Elim Hospital, Vhembe District

Mutangwa, Thendo 18 May 2017 (has links)
MPH / Department of Public Health / Workplaces are important settings for health promotion and disease prevention. Participation in sport and recreation can lead to improved health of individuals and increased productivity levels at work places. Despite the health benefits of sports and recreation and the approval of the workplace sports and recreation policy in the Limpopo Department of Health, many employees still do not participate, even when invited for games. The aim of the study was to determine the perceived factors influencing participation of non-medical staff members in workplace sports and recreation at Elim Hospital using the constructs of the Health Belief Model. A quantitative descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted. The population were all non-medical staff members of Elim Hospital. A total sample of 222 non-medical staff members of Elim Hospital were used for the study. Participants were divided into three categories, depending on the type of their work. A researcher-administered structured questionnaire based on the construct of the Health Belief Model was used to collect data. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23 and Microsoft Excel was used to analyse the data. A descriptive statistical method was used to analyse frequencies and Chi-square test was used to determine the level of significance of correlations between the different variables. A probability level of 0.05 or less was used to indicate statistical significance. The study revealed that the rate / level of participation in workplace sports and recreation among non-medical staff members at Elim Hospital was low (30%). Participants perceived themselves mainly as less susceptible and not susceptible to NCDs. The major barriers to participation that were identified include lack of awareness of the sports and recreation policy as well as busy work schedule. There was a significant relationship between participation and age of respondents, as well as between participation and occupation category. Educational programme geared towards increasing awareness of employees on the policy as well as on benefits of sports and recreation can significantly improve participation in workplace sports and recreation.

dis.PLAY - Center for the Art of Moving Images. A Film Center for Washington, D.C.

Torres-Barreto, Jose Antonio 10 March 2006 (has links)
This thesis explores how a displayed image and architecture interact together. This manifesto is analogically explored using parts of the human body such as the eyeballs as a structural analysis for the buildings with a projection of the cornea, the pupil, the retina, the optic nerves and the brain. This analysis follows a sequential order of capturing light, transcribing light into image, and displaying such image onto a screen. Both, the image and architecture are created parallel to each other respectively when conceiving an architectural idea in order to develop the idea into a building and then perceiving the architecture from such building. These steps are a cinematic approach using a video camera to record an experience of movement through the journey of a metro ride. This video is one of the tools used to edit an urban tissue of downtown Washington, D.C. The project becomes a Center for the Art of Moving Images exposing vectors of movements through its architecture. The building is manifested in a three-dimensional design where the site provides a sunken plaza 60 ft below street level perceived as a new floor in the city. The underground metro station transitions to the street surface through the use of this plaza in a very harmonious way. The result is a visual depth parallel to the perspectives perceived in movies where you see beyond the surface of the screen and in this case, beyond the surface of the city. / Master of Architecture

Factors with regard to the attainment of workplace equality as perceived by people with physical disabilities

Snyman, Adele Erna 03 1900 (has links)
Since 1994, various policies and guidelines, pertaining to the employment of people with disabilities have been promulgated. All of these policies highlighted the importance of employment equity and equality within the working environment. Despite all these policies and guidelines people with disabilities are still experiencing barriers within the working environment. These barriers prevent them from functioning optimally and equally alongside able-bodied colleagues. The requirements of people with disabilities are still not integrated into the general considerations of the workplace. In order to determine what factors people with physical disabilities perceive as important with regard to equality in the workplace, a combination of a qualitative and quantitative research approach were followed. Both convenient and Snowball/Chain sampling was utilised to identify the research participants. The data was gathered by means of an intensive literature study, as well as utilisation of surveys and interviews. After analysing the data, specific conclusions could be made. The sample was not representative of the total population, so these conclusions could not be generalised, it could however indicate certain trends. The conclusions with regard to the study could be utilised to improve the management of employees with physical disabilities in order to promote workplace equality. Certain recommendations in this regard have been made. Recommendations on how social workers could assist with the attainment of workplace equality for employees with disabilities have also been made. / Social Work / M.A. (Social Science)
