Mobile computing is becoming increasingly important, due to the rise in the number of portable computers and the desire to have continuous network connectivity to the Internet, irrespective of the physical location of the node. We have also seen a steady growth of the market for wireless communication devices. Such devices can only have the effect of increasing the options for making connections to the global Internet. The Internet infrastructure is built on top of a collection of protocols called the TCP/IP protocol suite. Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP) are the core protocols in this suite. There are currently two standards: one to support the current IPv4 and one for the upcoming IPv6 [1]. IP requires the location of any node connected to the Internet to be uniquely identified by an assigned IP address. This raises one of the most important issues in mobility because, when a node moves to another physical location, it has to change its IP address. However, the higher-level protocols require the IP address of a node to be fixed for identifying connections. The Mobile Internet Protocol (Mobile IP) is an extension to the Internet Protocol proposed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) that addresses this issue. It enables mobile devices to stay connected to the Internet regardless of their locations, without changing their IP addresses and, therefore, an ongoing IP session will not be interrupted [2, 3, 4]. More precisely, Mobile IP is a standard protocol that builds on the Internet Protocol by making mobility transparent to applications and higher-level protocols like TCP. However, before Mobile IP can be broadly deployed, there are still several technical barriers, such as long handover periods and packet loss that have to be overcome, in addition to other technical obstacles, including handover performance, security issues and routing efficiency [7]. This study presents an investigation into developing new handover mechanisms based on link layer information in Mobile IP and fast handover in Mobile IPv6 environments. The main goal of the developed mechanisms is to improve the overall IP mobility performance by reducing packet loss, minimizing signalling overheads and reducing the handover processing time. These models include the development of a cross-layer handover scheme using link layer information and Mobile Node (MN) location information to improve the performance of the communication system by reducing transmission delay, packet loss and registration signalling overheads. Finally, the new schemes are developed, tested and validated through a set of experiments to demonstrate the relative merits and capabilities of these schemes.

This thesis is a study of multiple access schemes for satellite land mobile systems that provide a domestic or regional service to a large number of small terminals. Three orbit options are studied, namely the geostationary, elliptical (Molniya) and inclined circular orbits. These are investigated for various mobile applications and the choice of the Molniya orbit is justified for a U. K. system. Frequency, Time and Code Division Multiple Access (FDMA, TDMA and CDMA) are studied and their relative merits in the mobile environment are highlighted. A hybrid TDMA/FDMA structure is suggested for a large system. Reservation ALOHA schemes are appraised in a TDMA environment and an adaptive reservation multiple access protocol is proposed and analysed for a wide range of mobile communication traffic profiles. The system can cope with short and long data messages as well as voice calls. Various protocol options are presented and a target system having 100,000 users is considered. Analyses are presented for the steady state of protocols employing pure and slotted ALOHA and for the stabilty of the slotted variant, while simulation techniques were employed to validate the steady state analysis of the slotted ALOHA protocol and to analyse the stability problem of the pure ALOHA version. An innovative technique is put forward to integrate the reservation and the acquisition processes. It employs the geographical spread of the users to form part of the random delay in P-ALOHA. Finally an economic feasibility study is performed for the spacesegment. For costs of capital (r) less than 23 % the discounted payback period is less than the project's lifetime (10 years). At r- 8% the payback period is about 5.6 years, while the internal-rate-of-return is 22.2 %. The net present value at the end of the projects lifetime is £M 70 at r-8%.

В научных работах практически не рассматриваются взаимосвязь управления знаниями и управления персоналом, следовательно, не уделяется должного внимания разработке инструментария для решения проблемы эффективного управления предприятием с использованием данной взаимосвязи. Отсутствие методик оценки эффективности управления персоналом с учетом взаимосвязи управления персоналом и управления знаниями, а также с учетом особенностей и специфики металлургических предприятий вызывает необходимость анализа современного состояния управления персоналом на промышленных предприятиях, что определило постановку цели, задач данного исследования. Целью магистерской диссертации является разработка методики оценки эффективного управления персоналом на металлургическом предприятии для обеспечения конкурентоспособности металлургического предприятия. Разработана методика оценки эффективности управления персоналом, базирующаяся на взаимосвязи профессионально-значимых качеств персонала и управления знаниями, особенностью которой является применение матричного метода к оценке процессов управления персоналом, оказывающих наибольшее влияние на управление и позволяющая принимать обоснованные управленческие решения. Главным преимуществом предложенной методики является применение матричного метода к оценке процессов управления персоналом. Для обеспечения эффективного взаимодействия между управлением персоналом и управлением знаниями, предложен подход к определению соответствия профессионально-значимых качеств персонала требованиям профессий и должностей. / In scientific works practically the interrelation of knowledge management and personnel management is not considered, therefore, due attention is not paid to development of tools for the solution of a problem of effective management of the enterprise with use of this interrelation. The lack of methods for assessing the effectiveness of personnel management, taking into account the relationship of personnel management and knowledge management, as well as taking into account the characteristics and specifics of metallurgical enterprises, necessitates the analysis of the current state of personnel management in industrial enterprises, which determined the goal and objectives of this study. The purpose of the master's thesis is to develop a methodology for assessing the effective management of personnel at the metallurgical enterprise to ensure the competitiveness of the metallurgical enterprise. The method of personnel management efficiency assessment based on the relationship of professionally significant qualities of personnel and knowledge management, the feature of which is the application of the matrix method to the assessment of personnel management processes that have the greatest impact on management and allow to make informed management decisions. The main advantage of the proposed method is the use of the matrix method to assess the processes of personnel management. To ensure effective interaction between personnel management and knowledge management, an approach is proposed to determine the compliance of professionally significant qualities of personel with the requirements of professions and positions.

Целью магистерской диссертации является развитие методических основ повышения функционирования предприятия на основе внедрения event-маркетинга. В работе рассматриваются методические особенности оценки эффективности event-маркетинга, современные тенденции и возможности повышения конкурентоспособности предприятий с помощью организации специальных мероприятий. В качестве источников использовалась научно-исследовательская и методическая литература и нормативно-правовые акты. В магистерской диссертации был предложен методический подход к повышению эффективности функционирования промышленных предприятий, основанный на предложенном алгоритме внедрения event-маркетинга и сформированной системе показателей его эффективности, а также экономическом обосновании проведения event-мероприятий, включающем выбор приоритетного варианта между аутсорсингом и инсорсингом с переносом части текущих расходов на долгосрочные амортизационные отчисления НМА, что позволит внести вклад в повышение эффективности деятельности предприятий. / Traditional direct advertising loses its effectiveness over time, in this regard, companies are looking for non-standard and creative ways to promote, one of which is event marketing. The aim of the master's thesis is to develop a methodological basis for improving the functioning of an enterprise through the implementation of event marketing. The paper discusses the methodological features of assessing the effectiveness of event marketing, current trends and opportunities to increase the competitiveness of enterprises through the organization of special events. Scientific research and methodological literature and regulatory legal acts were used as sources. In the master's thesis, a methodological approach to improving the efficiency of the functioning of industrial enterprises was proposed, based on the proposed algorithm for implementing event marketing and the formed system of indicators of its effectiveness, as well as the economic justification for holding event events, including the choice of a priority option between outsourcing and insourcing with the transfer of part of the current expenses for long-term depreciation deductions of intangible assets, which will contribute to improving the efficiency of enterprises.

В этой исследовательской работе мы исследуем влияние человеческих ресурсов (HR) на управление удовлетворенностью работой сотрудников в компании Арама Раха Курдистан (АРК), и важные факторы, включая корреляцию, и прогнозирование влияния факторов на удовлетворенность работой, производительность компании на основе стратегий управления человеческими ресурсами и эмпирических исследований. В первой главе мы рассмотрели некоторую существующую литературу, необходимую для этой исследовательской работы. Мы определили концепцию управления человеческими ресурсами как процесс найма, отбора и введения в должность сотрудников, а также обеспечения ориентации, обучения и развития, оценки эффективности работы сотрудников. Мы определили роль отдела кадров как связанную с администрированием и улучшением отдельных лиц в ассоциациях или организациях. Мы рассмотрели концепцию работы, удовлетворенность и выявленные факторы, определяющие эффективность работы сотрудников. Мы также рассказали, как измерить удовлетворенность работой и производительность. Во второй главе мы анализируем использование управления персоналом для повышения удовлетворенности работой в гражданской компании "Арам Рах-и-Курдистан". У нас есть краткий обзор компании. С помощью SWOT-анализа мы смогли проанализировать сила, слабость, возможности и угрозы компании. У нас также есть анализ персонала компании. Мы выяснили, что наши результаты свидетельствуют о том, что в системе оплаты труда n=100 сотрудников, продвижении по службе и оценка работы (в данном случае каждые 6 лет) влияет на удовлетворенность работой, а также на производительность компании, основываясь на нашей модели с точностью ~ 90%, эти элементы являются наиболее проблемными моментами, с которыми приходится сталкиваться компании. С другой стороны, мы обнаружили отрицательную корреляцию между образованием, многолетним стажем и уровнем стресса, что показывает, что текущая работа основана на опыте, уровне образования и доверии среди сотрудников. В третьей главе мы дали рекомендации по повышению удовлетворенности работой в Компании, используя инструменты HR-менеджмента. Улучшение работы и удовлетворенность, используя HR-инструменты, предполагает необходимость того, чтобы компания была гибкой, позволяла представителям самостоятельно формировать свои рабочие места, прекращать миниатюрное администрирование, воспринимать и компенсировать – вне денежной компенсации и т.д. / The final qualifying work consists of an introduction, three parts, a conclusion, a bibliographic list, and appendixes. We defined the concept of Human resource management as the process of hiring, selecting, and inducting employees, as well as providing orientation, training, and development, evaluating employee performance. A Hybrid Topological-Stochastic Partitioning Method for Scaling QoS Routing Algorithms

No / This paper presents a new partitioning strategy with the objective of increasing scalability by reducing computational effort of routing in networks. The original network is partitioned into blocks (subnetworks) so that there is a bi-directional link between any two blocks. When there is a connection request between a pair of nodes, if the nodes are in the same block, we only use the small single block to derive routings. Otherwise we combine the two blocks where the two nodes locate and in this way the whole network will never be used. The strategy is generic in that it can be used in any underlying routing algorithms in the network layer and can be applied to any networks with fixed topology such as fixed wired subnetworks of the Internet. The performance of this strategy has been investigated by building a simulator in Java and a comparison with existing stochastic partitioning techniques is shown to give superior performance in terms of trade-off in blocking probability (the probability of failure to find a path between source and destination satisfying QoS constraints) and reduction of computational effort.

Analytical modeling for spectrum handoff decision in cognitive radio networks

No / Cognitive Radio (CR) is an emerging technology used to significantly improve the efficiency of spectrum utilization. Although some spectrum bands in the primary user's licensed spectrum are intensively used, most of the spectrum bands remain underutilized. The introduction of open spectrum and dynamic spectrum access lets the secondary (unlicensed) users, supported by cognitive radios; opportunistically utilize the unused spectrum bands. However, if a primary user returns to a band occupied by a secondary user, the occupied spectrum band is vacated immediately by handing off the secondary user's call to another idle spectrum band. Multiple spectrum handoffs can severely degrade quality of service (QoS) for the interrupted users. To avoid multiple handoffs, when a licensed primary user appears at the engaged licensed band utilized by a secondary user, an effective spectrum handoff procedure should be initiated to maintain a required level of QoS for secondary users. In other words, it enables the channel clearing while searching for target vacant channel(s) for completing unfinished transmission. This paper proposes prioritized proactive spectrum handoff decision schemes to reduce the handoff delay and the total service time. The proposed schemes have been modeled using a preemptive resume priority (PRP) M/G/1 queue to give a high priority to interrupted users to resume their transmission ahead of any other uninterrupted secondary user. The performance of proposed handoff schemes has been evaluated and compared against the existing spectrum handoff schemes. Experimental results show that the schemes developed here outperform the existing schemes in terms of average handoff delay and total service time under various traffic arrival rates as well as service rates.

The effect of screw geometry on melt temperature profile in single screw extrusion.

No / Experimental observations of melt temperature profiles and melting performance of extruder screws are reported. A novel temperature sensor consisting of a grid of thermocouple junctions was used to take multiple temperature readings in real time across melt flow in a single screw extruder. Melt pressure in the die and power consumption were also monitored. Three extruder screws at a range of screw speeds were examined for a commercial grade of low density polyethylene. Results showed melt temperature fields at low throughputs to be relatively independent of screw geometry with a flat-shaped temperature profile dominated by conduction. At high throughputs, melting performance and measured temperature fields were highly dependent upon screw geometry. A barrier-flighted screw with Maddock mixer achieved significantly better melting than single flighted screws. Low temperature "shoulder" regions were observed in the temperature profiles of single-flighted screws at high throughput, due to late melting of the solid bed. Stability of the melt flow was also dependent upon screw geometry and the barrier-flighted screw achieving flow with lower variation in melt pressure and temperature. Dimensionless numbers were used to analyze the relative importance of conduction, convection, and viscous shear to the state of the melt at a range of extrusion conditions.
