Capable Production Process

Eriksson, Sofi January 2017 (has links)
This master thesis is about capability analysis performed at Bosch Rexroth in Mellansel. The aim is to analyse the manufacturing process and to find where they are capable or not, by process observations and looking at the measured data over a period of time. The capability analysis is a statistical method, looking at both measured values of a produced part, as well as measurement distributions. It is used to find variation and predict future behaviour of the process. It is found that capability is a useful tool, and can be used to give manufacturing processes an index to measure the stability. The capability process is made in two steps. First the measuring tools are looked at, and if the tool is considered so that an operator can affect the process, then operator variation is as well looked at. When the measuring tool is capable the process data is analysed, to find or create a capable process. It was found that capability analysis is a powerful tool in order to give its production process a measurable value. The capability indices will provide answers if the process is stable or not, and it can be seen changes in stability over time. When working with capability easy method need to be establish in order to be able to fast provide the capability indices. It was also found that small changes in randomness of data can affect the result of the capability significantly, and cautions when data is not normal distributed when transforming data if needed.

Overcoming Future Technological Challenges Through Innovation : A study of how a manufacturing company can manage process innovation / Att övervinna framtida teknologiska utmaningar genom innovation : En studie av hur ett tillverkningsföretag kan hantera processinnovation

Soc Deschaeck, Emma, Palmgren, Ida January 2018 (has links)
New technology, which has emerged as a part of the new industrial revolution, Industry 4.0, is changing the reality ofmanufacturing companies. Manufacturing companies are perplexed on which technologies to adopt in their productionprocesses, and when is the right time. This can be defined as a company’s ability to prepare for the future, andespecially, for these future technological challenges. A large part of being able to adopt these technologies into theproduction processes is related to the company’s ability to be innovative in their production processes. This is known asprocess innovation. Therefore, this thesis investigates how a production unit within a manufacturing company canmanage process innovation to prepare for future technological challenges. This purpose has been achieved by conducting a single case study, where the case company’s process innovation abilitieswere assessed, and combined with necessary tools to prepare the case company for the future. The case company chosenfor this thesis was Scania. They are a world-leading manufacturer of heavy trucks, buses, and engines. The case studyfocused on one of their productions units, which produce gearboxes and axles. The data for the study was collectedthrough qualitative interviews with members of the case company. The results indicate that the case company needs toimprove their process innovation abilities in order for them to be able to adopt new technologies in their productionprocess. They need a definition of innovation, and a strategy that includes innovation so that it is prioritized andviewed as important. Furthermore, management needs to encourage innovation, and increase their level of risk-taking sothat the culture of the case company is compatible with innovation. Finally, the results show that the case companymay need to redefine or reconsider their fundamental management principle “continuous improvement” to further givepriority to innovation in their production process. Furthermore, an overview of the necessary tools for preparing for thefuture are also covered. These are trend analysis, scenario planning, benchmarking, and technological roadmap. Usingthese four tools can help the company when making strategic decisions about the implementation of new technologies. Finally, this thesis contributes to science by providing empirical research on the topic of process innovation and gives aninteresting perspective on how it can be used to prepare for the future.

Journalism has a peculiar narrative by a process of technical and procedural routines in production environments. / This dissertation aims to discuss the production process of the news report called Invisíveis (Invisible), published in the newspaper Diário Gaúcho between April 17th and April 19th, 2013. With the help of the Genetic Criticism mechanisms, I identify the construction of this reportage on the popular newspaper. To address the research question, I performed a genesis study using my own notes written in the aforementioned period, as well as part of the reports sent at the time to the publishers and the photographer involved, interview videos, e-mails exchanged with the editor responsible for the publication and excerpts of my personal journal. The decision of analyzing my own documents challenges me to the subjective duty of revising and reflecting on what I have done. Two authors inspired the present research. The first one is the historian Piero Brunello who, based on the analysis of the works of Russian doctor, playwright and writer Anton Chekhov – especially Sakhalin Island – wrote Um Bom Par de Sapatos, and How to Write Like Chekhov: Advice and Inspiration, Straight from His Own Letters and Work, a compilation of advices on how to write a news report. The second author is researcher Sandra Moura, who used genetic criticism to write the book Caco Barcellos: o repórter e o método. With this research, I intend to improve my techniques as a reporter, to contribute to the amplification of the studies of popular journalism and to foster further reflection in this field of research in communication.

Agribusiness has stood out in the Brazilian economy recorded large quantitative and qualitative advances. Despite being old, only in recent years beekeeping is gaining greater prominence, turning to beekeeping in one of the most profitable agricultural activities. The states of the Northeast region in 2014, occupied the second place in production, where Paraíba had a production around 650 tons of honey. This new scenario requires beekeepers a new attitude towards beekeeping. In this new period, our research aimed to show how the application of costing by absorption and variable can help honey producers in the association of beekeepers of Vale do Rio do Peixe in the municipality of São João do Rio do Peixe in Paraíba - Apivale. This research is exploratory and due to the high degree of detail, is a case study, made from documentary research and semi-structured interview. We adopted the quantitative method that allows the income statement in numbers for later review them. The results indicated that the costing systems for absorption and variable can help Apivale beekeepers revealing the contribution margin, the balance, the profit margin, directing inefficient points, eliminating costs and optimizing production. As well as serving as a control tool for decision making. It was possible that the 1,145 existing hives, 57.7% of the hives are not producing, representing a loss of approximately 8714 kg of honey. And 42.3% of which are producing, 88.88% are producing below the overall average/hive is 13,2kg/hive. However, despite of this low production, Apivale in 2015 showed profit 10,840.79 (ten thousand eight hundred and forty reais and seventy-nine cents), which shows the potential of the association and that the costing systems for absorption and variable are used for decision making by the members of Apivale, these will condition to produce effectively.

Rozpočtový proces a zpracování rozpočtu ve firmě zabývající se výrobou / Budgeting Process and the Results Processing of Budged in a Firm Engaged in Manufacturing

Sloviaková, Michaela January 2011 (has links)
The subject of the thesis is to assess whether the company MBB Technik Ltd. use some management tools, namely the management of overhead costs with budgets and calculation of variable costs. If so, whether it is beneficial for the manager, or whether it has got just purely administrative character. At first I described the different types of accounting, which we might find in the practice, and then I focused on management, where I defined the different types of costs and ways to control costs, which we might find in company. Specifically I also pay attention to management of overhead costs and calculation of variable costs. Eventually I worked out in detail what kind of budgets the company MBB Technik Ltd. used, properly I described them and I showed them how much managers are interested in budgets.
