Marcas da oralidade nas manchetes do jornal popular Meia Hora de Notícias / Marks of orality in the headlines of the popular newspaper Meia Hora de Notícias

Sousa, Mayara Suellen de 29 April 2015 (has links)
This paper aims to present research results about the marks of orality in written texts, specifically in newspapers considered \"popular\" and in this dissertation in newspaper headlines Meia Hora de Notícias. The tabloids have greater interest in the dissemination of news and approach to the reading public. The importance of this work is given by the dynamism of language and the intense exchange between the oral and the written, this change makes the journalistic language a mix between formal and informal as a way to involve the largest possible number of readers. Thus, we make use of theoretical concepts that have related to language issues, language, speech and orality: Marcuschi (1993, 1995, 2004 and 2007), Koch and Oesterreicher (1985, 2007), Charaudeau (2007, 2008), Koch (1997, 2008), Ong (1998), Preti (1983, 2004), Dias (1996), Urbano (1998, 2000, 2006 and 2011), Favero (2009). Our specific objectives are: to outline the particularities of the popular journalism language, verify the relationship between spoken and written language, analyze the marks of orality present in the newspaper Meia Hora de Notícias based on the discursive and linguistic levels and understand such brands as orality approximation strategies the reader. Our hypothesis is that orality simulation is a popular journalism strategy, so the presence of orality of occurrences in the headlines. We analyzed 365 newspaper covers and opted for a more detailed analysis of 30 headlines. We focus on the discursive field, which includes the narrative, the cultured language x popular language, fixed formulas, the triadic phrases and the involvement of the narrator in the journal news. In the linguistic field, highlight the phonetic, lexical and morphological aspects in order to understand how to configure the orality of resources used by Meia Hora de Notícias.

The character is the most important element of the news report. This statement is in the first news commandment of the Diário Gaúcho newspaper and is the starting point of this research. The goal of this work is to investigate how the construction of the character in everyday narrative in this newspaper takes place, in addition to understanding the role of the journalist-narrator, which locates and selects the characters and articulates the narrative. The literature, which seeks closer ties with narratology to list the elements that make up the narrative – including the character –, made it possible, through the analysis procedure of ten news reports that form the corpus of this study, to describe the purpose of the character to the plot and identify the effects of meaning that the journalist-narrator evokes from this element. By undertaking these procedures, we were able to find characters that together form a gallery and thus represent Diário Gaúcho's production, confirming the validity of the aforementioned first commandment. In the local news narrative published in the General section, characters are located and portrayed in their environment, in general communities on the outskirts of Porto Alegre and the Metropolitan Region. Diário Gaúcho's journalists try to include characters in their narratives that are similar to newspaper readers, in an attempt to promote identification with the audience. The characters are selected to serve as a starting point for addressing narratives about overcoming (limits, prejudices), reporting on daily dramas, common to this population segment (questioning the action of public institutions), or conducting narratives that offer entertainment or some kind of reflection – all narratives demonstrate some effect of intended meaning as commotion, encouragement, or simple delight. The characters in most narratives, play actions – which make up the news – or are affected by these actions or lack thereof. In the narrative, characters are identified by full name, age and profession. Their characterization also appears through the description and discourse of the journalistnarrator, these characters' quotes, the participation of secondary characters and even the location in which the story takes place.

Lithuanian translations of English noun phrases in popular journalism: analysis of texts from ''Business & Exhibitions'' / Angliškų daiktavardžių grupių vertimas į lietuvių kalbą populiariojoje spaudoje: žurnalo „Verslas ir parodos“ tekstų analizė

Gvildytė, Aurelija 23 December 2008 (has links)
This thesis examines the Lithuanian translations of English noun phrases in the popular journalism magazine ''Business & Exhibitions''. The corpus of data of noun phrases was collected from the articles found in seven issues of the magazine published in 2006 and 2007. The analysis is based on the definitions of translation strategies put forward by by Eirlys E. Davies. The aim of the study is to find the most common noun phrase types and translation strategies used for their rendering into Lithuanian in order to test the hypothesis that noun phrases can be used as a device to manipulate the audience that reads articles in magazines of popular journalism. Tables and figures presented in the thesis show the frequency of noun phrases and the employed translation strategies in percent. The interpretation of the statistics allows us to test the validity of the hypothesis. / Šis darbas nagrinėja angliškų daiktavardžių grupių vertimą į lietuvių kalbą populiariosios spaudos žurnale „Verslas ir parodos“. Daiktavardžių grupėms surinkti iš verslo žurnalo straipsnių buvo išanalizuoti septyni žurnalo numeriai, publikuoti 2006 - 2007 metais. Vertimo strategijų analizė pagrįsta Eirlys E. Davies pasiūlytų apibrėžimų pagrindu. Šios analizės tikslas – surasti labiausiai paplitusias tam tikros sintaksinės struktūros daiktavardžių grupes ir joms versti naudojamas vertimo strategijas, kad būtų patikrinta hipotezė, jog tam tikra daiktavardžių grupės struktūra gali būti naudojama kaip populiariosios spaudos skaitytojų manipuliacinė priemonė. Lentelės bei grafikai, vaizduojantys daiktavardžių grupių ir vertimo strategijų vartosenos dažnumą procentais, parodo tikrinamos hipotezės rezultatus.

O segredinho que não é mistério: corpo e transexualidade no discurso jornalístico popular / The "secret" that is no mystery: body and transexuality in popular journalism discourse

Por fim, o universo do gênero e da sexualidade, com fundamentação antropológica, será debatido como matéria-prima para a leitura do discurso dos periódicos / This research consists of an analysis of discourse on representations that two popular newspapers from Rio de Janeiro (Meia Hora e Expresso) evoke to build a approach regarding transexuality, personified by Ariadna Silva, member of the 11th edition of the reality show Big Brother Brazil. From the covers of the two journals, we seek to analyze headlines, images and iconographic resources exploring or dialoguing with conventions of gender and sexuality. As part of the theoretical framework, its used the mediation theory, whereby the media acts as a meeting point between different discourses and cultural codes. In this sense, the structure of this study begins with a discussion of the role of media in the construction of social representations. In a second step, the genre of popular journalism will be discussed in more detail. Finally, the universe of gender and sexuality, with anthropological basis, will be discussed as a raw material to the analyses of the discourse

Dessa maneira, pode-se comprovar que ao mesmo tempo em que usa determinadas estratégias sensacionalistas para se promover como popular, não necessariamente recorre a temas sexuais, sanguinolentos ou ficcionais para se posicionar como tal / This thesis aims at detecting the verbal and non verbal discursive marks used in the cover news of the newspaper Agora São Paulo, verifying the strategies used by this paper in order to attract its readers in a more efficient way, so as to classify this paper as belonging to popular journalism and containing sensationalist traces. As an essential basis for the detailed examination of the news, we make use of Discourse Analysis and the theoretical devices offered by the Journalism Theory (or News Theory), checking, from the elements that constitute them, the techniques employed by this newspaper. We point out that the popular/sensationalist characteristics can be verified through its content, as it presents news related to the interests of its readers. With a clear and simple language, the headlines produced usually focus on socioeconomic issues, whereas the tiles try to make reference to subjects which aim at entertaining. Besides, the dynamicity presented by the logotype in the front page, the presence of a red mark in the most important word of the headline, the use of large and distinguished fonts in the news titles lead us to characterize this newspaper as a popular one. This way, it can be proved that at the same time it uses certain sensationalist strategies to promote itself as popular, it does not necessarily make use of sexual, sanguinary or fictional subjects, to position itself as popular

No. of bitstreams: 1 Luciane Pereira da Silva Navarro.pdf: 3124355 bytes, checksum: 5534af58b0ebe5a4fcace2364b1d1bd0 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-09-09 / Focused on the investigation of the marginal identity language in the traditional editorial and on the blogosphere, this case study articulates a comparative analysis between two narrations in the first person. The popular women’s magazine Sou mais Eu, published by Abril publisher, provides this study with a report on the story of life of Melita Luzia Santos. This text is compared to narration, with no journalistic mediation of the protagonist in her personal blog, Saída de Emergência (Emergency Exit). According to the discussion interlined in Phillipe Lejeune on the Pacto Autobiográfico (The Autobiographical Pact), both the magazine and the blog are autobiographic with different degrees of subordinate representation and writing opening. Both texts selected have a grammatical “I” that refers to the name of Melita Luzia dos Santos, the difference between them is in the fact that on the magazine the journalist is the one who writes it while on the blog the protagonist is the one who writes it. On this dichotomy, the usage or misusage of “I” in the narrations are compared from the conception of an identity language, these proposed by Roland Barthes on O Grau Zero da Escritura (Writing Degree Zero). This work has also provided the theoretical support to choose Quarto de Despejo (Beyond All Pity), by Carolina Maria de Jesus, as the referential model of truth functional language. The choice of this methodological approach has been crucial to accomplish the analysis out of the limits imposed by a spelling and andocentric culture that would, likely, point at a traditional linguistic analysis. Michel Foucault with the text A vida dos Homens Infames (The Life of Coward Men) and Gayatri Spivak with the work Pode o Subalterno Falar?(Can the Subaltern Speak?) compose the theoretical surrounding that, in the end, lies over subordinate female self-narrations in contemporaneity, whose extent and contextual implications required the usage of the dialectic method.
