"NI ÄR PROPAGANDA!" : Ett bidrag till det psykologiska försvaret.

Elman, Kim January 2016 (has links)
This study investigates the possibility of implementing national psychological defence measures utilizing social media. These measures are understood as an exercise of political power and are contextualised in the contemporary global information arena using Castells theory of communication power in the network society, while employing PSYOPS methodology to further understand the tactical dimensions. It also attempts to evaluate the prevalence of ”filter bubbles” and the potential hindrance such may be to successful implementation. Results show that key audiences can be reached and effectively influenced through the use of social media advert targeting systems and open source, fact-based information campaigns.

An effective model of psychological defence as a key component of societal resilience : A Case Study of Lithuania

Gresius, Tomas January 2024 (has links)
How do the strategic documents of the Republic of Lithuania contribute to the efforts of its institutions and organisations to build societal resilience to threats? Although the need for overall preparedness is recognised, the division of responsibilities remains unclear and fragmented. This thesis identifies the gaps between policy and its implementation by examining the strategic documents and expert opinions. The results show that the policies are summarising, visionary and directional. This leads to a lack of clarity for the institutions or to haphazard initiatives. By explaining the relationship between policy expectations and the actual willingness of the public to contribute to the defence of the state, this study contributes to the study of warfare. It also provides theoretical and empirical data for building and strengthening societal resilience in Lithuania. Promoting active dialogue, strengthening coordination between institutions and non-governmental organisations can strengthen societal resilience and thus promote better prepared national defence.

Исследование психологических особенностей преодолевающего поведения студентов в ситуации стресса : магистерская диссертация / Study of psychological peculiarities of coping behaviour of students in a situation of stress

И., Kondina, A. I. January 2024 (has links)
The object of the study is coping behaviour of students in a situation of stress. The subject of the study is psychological features of coping behaviour of students in a situation of stress. Master's thesis consists of an abstract, introduction, chapters, conclusion, list of literature (69 sources) and appendices, including forms of applied methods. The volume of the master's thesis is 104 pages with 11 figures and 9 tables. The introduction reveals the relevance of the research problem, defines the object and subject of the research, sets the aim and objectives of the research, formulates the research hypothesis, specifies the methods and techniques of the research, description of the sample population, theoretical and practical significance of the work. The first chapter includes the analysis of domestic and foreign studies on the theory of coping behaviour; the psychological characteristics of coping behaviour, classification of coping strategies and specifics of coping in students are given. The conclusions of the first chapter represent the results of the study of theoretical material. Considering the studies aimed at the specificity of students' coping behaviour, we have revealed that the psychological characteristics of coping can be locus of control, psychological defence mechanisms and the level of stress load (stressfulness). There are also studies that consider gender as a feature of coping behaviour. The second chapter is devoted to the empirical part of the study. It presents a description of the organisation and methods of the conducted research and the results of the work. As diagnostic tools were used: questionnaire survey; questionnaire «Ways of coping behaviour» by R. Lazarus; questionnaire «Life Style Index» by R. Plutchik, G. Kellerman, H. Conte; questionnaire «Locus of Control Scale» by J. Rotter; questionnaire «Estimation Scale of Stressful Events» by T. Holmes, R. Rahe. In the process of investigating the psychological features of coping behaviour in students in a stressful situation, descriptive, comparative and correlation analysis was conducted to test the hypotheses put forward. The conclusions of Chapter 2 include the main results of the empirical study. The conclusion summarises the results of the conducted work, as well as conclusions about the put forward hypotheses, substantiates the practical significance of the work, possible prospects for further development of this issue.

The Construction of the LVU Influence Operation : A Narrative Case Study on Influence Operations / Konstruktionen av Påverkanskampanjen om LVU : En Narrativ Fallstudie om Informationspåverkan

Nilsson, Pierre January 2023 (has links)
The thesis aims to give readers a more precise knowledge of how narratives in the information environment, mainly social media platforms, can be created and structured by agents of influence operations to subvert and influence a target audience. As a case study, the thesis focuses on the influence agent “Shuoun Islamiya”, as the Swedish Psychological Defence Agency pointed out, to be the initiator of the influence operation targeting Swedish Social Services and the LVU-act. The research in this paper explores the narratives used by the agentto reveal three central narratives propagated by Shuoun Islamiya: Sweden as a fascist state, Swedish authorities as abusive towards children, and depicting Swedish authorities as targeting Muslim families in particular. The findings suggest that these narratives are strategically designed to weaken the existing narrative of Sweden as a democratic state and evoke strong emotions in the targeted audience to align with the influence agent's objectives. Construction of these narratives involves setting up antagonistic actors, portraying the Swedish state and the social services as villains who unfairly and systematically target families of immigrant and Muslim backgrounds. The families are, on the other hand, depicted as helpless victims, emphasising a conflict between the state and the families by using provocative and inflammatory language related to allegations of child kidnapping and abuse carried out by Swedish authorities. These narratives are conveyed mainly through social media platforms, showing a strong visual component in which non-related visually evocative images are oftenused to elicit emotional responses from the target audience. Further, results show how non-state actors can influence a sizable audience and take advantage of the digital information environment, combining false and misleading content taken out of context. Moreover, the analysis highlights potential security implications, including the risk of undermining social trust and cohesion. The study emphasises the need for a critical mindset among information consumers. It suggests avenues for future research, including examining other actors and assessing a potentially more profound impact of the influence operation.
