Acute Effects of Peristaltic Pulse Dynamic Compression on Recovery: Kinetic, Kinematic, and Perceptual FactorsMcInnis, Timothy 01 August 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this dissertation was to determine the effects of peristaltic pulse dynamic compression administered via NormaTec recovery system provides measurable kinetic, kinematic, or perceptual benefits following a weightlifting training session. During 2 testing sessions separated by 1 week, 6 weightlifters performed dynamic mid thigh pulls on a force plate with potentiometers at loads equal to 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, 100%, 110%, and 120% of 1 RM clean before and after a weightlifting training session consisting of 5 sets of 5 repetitions of clean pulls from the floor with 90% of 1 RM clean and treatment with the NormaTec recovery system or a sham treatment. Following a cross over design the weightlifters served as their own control receiving NomaTec treatment during 1 testing session and sham treatment during 1 testing session. Pre- and postdynamic mid thigh pulls were analyzed for peak force, force at 50 ms, force at 90 ms, force at 250 ms, impulse at 50 ms, impulse at 90 ms, impulse at 250 ms, rate of force development, peak velocity, peak power, and peak displacement. A 2x2 (treatment, time) repeated measures ANOVA showed no statistical differences in the interaction of treatment and time with the exception of impulse at 250 ms at the 70% load. The minimal effects of NormaTec on recovery from a weightlifting training session demonstrated in this study suggest that NormaTec recovery system does not provide substantial benefits following clean pulls from the floor. However, it is possible that NormaTec may be more effective following a greater level of eccentric damage or a test of strength endurance.

Landsbygdens Lockelse : En studie om svensk livsstilsmigration / The attraction of the countryside : A study on swedish lifestyle migrationFalkeling, Thea, Bergendahl, Nadja January 2020 (has links)

Evaluation of Bond Strength between Overlay and Substrate in Concrete RepairsNeshvadian Bakhsh, Keivan January 2010 (has links)
Good bond strength between overlay and substrate is a key factor in performance of concrete repairs. This thesis was aimed at studying the evaluation of bond strength between repair material and substrate at the interface. Many factors such as surface roughness, existence of micro cracks, compaction, curing etc influence the bond strength. The quality assurance of the bond strength requires test methods that can quantify the bond strength as well as identify the failure mode. There have been numerous investigations led to development of different test methods. The forces which are applied in each test and the failure mode are important in order to choose the proper test. An interpretive study on test methods is presented. While this study can provide individually useful information on bond strength and bond characterization, it also contains discussions about each test and comparison of test methods.

Lean model of services for the improvement in the times of attention of the emergency areas of the health sectorCalero, Lucero, Maccasi, Aracelli, Raymundo, Carlos 01 January 2020 (has links)
El texto completo de este trabajo no está disponible en el Repositorio Académico UPC por restricciones de la casa editorial donde ha sido publicado. / In Peru, the health service has had certain problems in the attention of users. The emergency service of clinics has been saturated due to changes in the needs of people and demand, exposing the prestige of health entities that have this unit and generating risks for the health of users, this is reflected in the low level of satisfaction with regard to care. Based on the Lean philosophy, a model is developed using SMED, Kanban and pull tools to reduce waiting times. The application of this model of pilot in the Clinic reduces the waiting time for the first attention in 30% thereby reducing the number of fines imposed by the corresponding regulatory entity and the desertion in emergency, achieving an average time of 37 min.

Kinetic Comparison of the Power Development Between Power Clean VariationsSuchomel, Timothy J., Wright, Glenn A., Kernozek, Thomas W., Kline, Dennis E. 01 January 2014 (has links)
Suchomel, TJ, Wright, GA, Kernozek, TW, and Kline, DE. Kinetic comparison of the power development between power clean variations. J Strength Cond Res 28(2): 350- 360, 2014-The purpose of this study was to compare the power production of the hang clean (HC), jump shrug (JS), and high pull (HP) when performed at different relative loads. Seventeen men with previous HC training experience, performed 3 repetitions each of the HC, JS, and HP at relative loads of 30, 45, 65, and 80% of their 1 repetition maximum (1RM) HC on a force platform over 3 different testing sessions. Peak power output (PPO), peak force (PF), and peak velocity (PV) of the lifter plus bar system during each repetition were compared. The JS produced a greater PPO, PF, and PV than both the HC (p > 0.001) and HP (p > 0.001). The HP also produced a greater PPO (p > 0.01) and PV (p > 0.001) than the HC. Peak power output, PF, and PV occurred at 45, 65, and 30% 1RM, respectively. Peak power output at 45% 1RM was greater than PPO at 65% (p = 0.043) and 80% 1RM (p = 0.004). Peak force at 30% was less than PF at 45% (p = 0.006), 65% (p > 0.001), and 80% 1RM (p = 0.003). Peak velocity at 30 and 45% was greater than PV at 65% (p > 0.001) and 80% 1RM (p > 0.001). Peak velocity at 65% 1RM was also greater than PV at 80% 1RM (p > 0.001). When designing resistance training programs, practitioners should consider implementing the JS and HP. To optimize PPO, loads of approximately 30 and 45% 1RM HC are recommended for the JS and HP, respectively.

XSLT and Application Maintainability: A Case StudyStauffer, Andrew I., Pfeiffer, Phil 01 December 2010 (has links)
Software maintainability can be difficult to plan for when strategies for software development present tradeoffs between popular support and expressiveness. These tradeoffs were explored in the context of a recent software project, where two schema transformation applications were developed in two ways: a first that used the traditional XSLT 1.0 plus pull processing approach to application development, and a second using XSLT 2.0 and push processing. The improvements obtained with the second strategy, which took 1/4 of the time to implement while substantially reducing the size of both applications and the complexity of one, suggest that the benefits of transitioning to XSLT 2.0 and push processing far outweigh the benefits of the older approaches.

Novel Current-Fed Boundary-Mode Parallel-Resonant Push-Pull ConverterPaolucci, Jonathan David 01 June 2009 (has links) (PDF)
The inherent difficulty in designing high voltage power supplies is often compounded by demands of high reliability, high performance, and safe functionality. A proposed high step-up ratio DC-DC converter meets the exacting requirements of applications such as uninterruptible power systems, radar, and pulsed power systems. The proposed DC-DC converter topology combines a multi-phase buck input stage with a novel self-tracking zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) resonant output stage. Traditionally, the inclusion of multiple power processing stages within a power supply topology severely degrades the overall converter efficiency. Due to the inherent high efficiency per stage, however, this effect is minimized. The self-tracking switching scheme ensures that ZVS occurs across the full range of load variation. Furthermore, the switching scheme allows significantly increased flexibility in component tolerances compared to traditional resonant converter designs. The converter also demonstrates indefinite short-circuit protection and true ZVS during transient processes. Computer simulation and hardware analysis verify the efficacy of the topology as a rugged and efficient converter.
