Produção de sentido na prática profissional de auxiliares e técnicos de enfermagem / The meaning of work in professional practice of nursing assistants

Walter Lisboa Oliveira 15 December 2015 (has links)
The objective of the research was comprehending how they give meaning to their work and life. Seeing that experiences of emotional suffering and psychosocial disorders may interfere in the meaning of work, this research has also looked into the quality of work life and the existence of burnout syndrome. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used. The research instruments applied were Maslach Burnout Inventory- Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS), the BPSO-96 scale and a guide of semi structured interviews. The research was carried out at the University Hospital in São Paulo, the scales were applied to 166 health professionals, among assistants and other health professionals. 20 participants were interviewed. The scales were statically analyzed on the whole and segmented samples in two groups, one with nursing assistants and other one with other professionals, so both results were compared. The interviews were categorized and analyzed. The results have shown a high level of depersonalization, a medium level of exhaustion, a low level of personal fulfillment and a medium level of satisfaction with the quality of work life, there has not been a representative statistical difference between the two groups. The hospital was going through a political crisis during the data collection which may have interfered in the results, once the semi structured interviews have revealed insecurity, mourning over the loss of the idealized hospital and feeling of uncertainty towards their professional future. With regard to the meaning of work, the professionals understand that their practice is indispensable for medical treatments. They see themselves as a necessary link between patients and multidisciplinary teams. They also mention social recognition for the work in the health area and satisfaction when taking care of patients, seeing their recovery and gratitude as an important source of meaning in the professional practice

Desenvolvimento e avaliação de projeto em qualidade de vida no trabalho (QVT): indicadores de produtividade e saúde nas organizações / Development and evaluation of a project in quality of work life (QWL): indicators of productivity and health in organizations

Daniel Perdigão Campana 18 August 2011 (has links)
This research is justified by the need to cooperate to a greater systematization of knowledge in the field of organizational studies involving the management of people, as well as the need to provide scientific input to the development of projects that can promote the Quality of Working Life (QWL). The project aims to fill a gap in scientific health-related organizations, contributing to the development of a research line named \"Analysis of Working Organizations: people, knowledge and health\", in which it occurs. There are many studies on Quality of Work Life (QWL), but rare are those who develop and evaluate interventions in this area. The objective of this research is to promote quality of work life and contribute to improving the productivity indicators in the target companies in the study. Methodology: evaluation research, design with a baseline pre-intervention, whose measurements are compared with those obtained at the end of the intervention (pre-and posttest), using survey indicators on productivity and health of employees. Sample: two organizations located in the same city and in the central region of the state SP. A company is a provider of educational services and the other fits into the eating area. The participants are 18 employee volunteers of both sexes. Instruments: a) Questionnaire Sample Characterization and Obtaining Data on Productivity and Health b) Observation and Collective Interview c) Coping Responses Inventory at Work (IRC-T), d) Yoga Intervention Labor ( YL) developed twice a week, lasting one hour, for two months, in the organizations under study. The results indicated the positive impact of QWL intervention in both organizations. In relation to productivity indicators there was a significant difference (p=0.0431) about days missed in the job. The food organization presents no significant difference, but the percentages indicated that no employee missed days of work. So the absenteeism decreased during the working days after the intervention. In relation to indicators of health, the educational organization shows no significant difference in the perception of well-being at the end of the intervention, but in coping, evasive rationalization decreased (p=0.001) and increased compensatory alternatives (p=0.006). In general coping strategies increased and decreased the avoidance of stress. The second organizational changes occurred significantly in the way of coping the stress. There were significant increases in the Positive evaluation scores (p=0.001) and Search Support (p=0.010). Strategies for coping with stress (17%) as well as avoidance strategies (14%) increased. Therefore, confirming the hypothesis of the study, there was a change in the indicators of productivity (absenteeism) and health (coping) after the intervention (YL) in both organizations. In the qualitative aspect, the educational organization showed stressful situations with a high pace and demand for labor, as opposed to the greater flexibility of the second organization. All participants talked about the importance of the positive effects of Yoga in their lives, including knowledge transfer to the personal and family domains. The results, although limited to a small sample, support the hypothesis of this study and encourage further research and the practice of YL in promoting the Quality of work life.

Os principais resultados obtidos foram divulgados para os trabalhadores e diretores da empresa, visando a implementação de ações para a promoção à saúde no trabalho / Abstract: The capitalism expansion in global scale is creating new economic and social scenarios with effects on the working conditions. The metallurgy in the Brazilian agribusiness has showed great dynamism and positive financial results for the country in the last years. The aim of this study is to evaluate the working capacity, the socio-demographic profile, and the lifestyle of workers in a metallurgical industry in the agribusiness sector, located in inland São Paulo state. Two health survey questionnaires were used: the Work Ability Index - WAI (TUOMI et ai, 1977), and a questionnaire with socio-demographic, work and life style data elaborated by Monteiro-Cocco (1996). These surveys were complemented through the Ergonomic Work Analyses (RHOMERT ANO LANOAU, 1983). l1's a crosssectional epidemiological study with a sample of 142 workers out of a total population of 200 workers, with an average age of 34,04 years, most of them (87,3%) males. The work ability was considered excellent for 66,9% of the workers in the sample, good for 29,6% and moderate for 3,5%. Significant statistical association was found for the variables alcoholism, repetitive movement, tobacco addiction, and schooling. Results showed that non-smoking persons had 2,3 times more chances to have a betterWAI than the smoking ones, while those with higher number of school years attendance had a 2,3 higher chance of having a better WAI than those with less school years. The main results of the research were communicated to the workers and directors, aiming the implementation of actions to improve healthy working conditions / Mestrado / Enfermagem e Trabalho / Mestre em Enfermagem

Významné faktory kvality pracovního života z hlediska managementu v neziskovém sektoru / Significant factors of quality of working life in terms of management in the nonprofit sector

Jenšovská, Lucie January 2015 (has links)
This thesis deals with the issue of quality of work life (QWL), namely the important factors of QWL in terms of the management of non-governmental organizations (NGO). Perception of QWL has a positive effect on job satisfaction, personal well-being and job performance (its productivity and quality). The aim of this mapping study is to determine the important factors of QWL from the subjective perspective. Expert semistructured interviews were used for this purpose. The results indicate that the identified factors are identical with QWL mentioned by individual authors and institutions. The following factors were identified: absence of stress, interpersonal relationships in the workplace, support from the organization, evaluation of work, working environment. The positively evaluated factors include good relations in the workplace, need and utility of service, and self-actualization. The problematic working factors are financial conditions, obligations arising from the legislative framework, uncertainty about the sustainability of services, view of society and the low level of spatial facilities. The findings might become a contribution for organizations providing social services, be useful in easier implementation and support QWL factors, feelings of well-being at work, for selection of employees,...

Perceptions of quality of work-life: a study of the research fieldworkers in the Western Cape

Douw-Jack, Nomfundo Princess January 2016 (has links)
Yadav & Khanna (2015) argue that quality of work life (QWL) defines the life at work and the life at home with family members. The work of research-fieldworkers is an exceptional work in that it requires them to frequent households and commercial businesses, unlike other occupations where the work is conducted at the workplace of the employer. The private households by their very nature, and the locations where these households are based present risky conditions to the research-fieldworkers. In order for remedial measures to be suggested that can be implemented to improve the QWL of the research-fieldworkers of the agency, the perceptions of the QWL need to be investigated. Research objectives: To address the research problem, research objectives and questions were established. The main objective of the study is to investigate the perceptions of the QWL of the research-fieldworkers of the research agency in the Western Cape with the goal of improving employee performance through the cost effective interventions that will be implemented. Research questions: Three research questions were established and these were; What is the QWL among the research-fieldworkers in the Western Cape? Do some groups, distinguished by gender, age, work experience, working hours and location experience significantly different levels of QWL? Which measures can be recommended for maximizing QWL among the research-fieldworkers in the Western Cape Province? Research design: The nature of this research is descriptive in nature. The study used a self-administered questionnaire to collect work-related quality of life information from research-fieldworkers. Major findings: The results above show that research-fieldworkers perceptions of the QWL were more affected by the location, working hours and age sub-groups. Gender, family responsibility and marital status did not have much impact on the perceptions of research-fieldworkers on the QWL. Differences were observed with regards to control at work, stress at work, home-work interface against sub-groups. Lastly, the fieldworkers’ perceptions about the working conditions were negative for all the sub-groups. For example, the results show that there are poor working conditions for research-fieldworkers of the agency. This was evident irrespective of gender, age, family responsibility, hours of work and location.

Burger, Marilize 20 August 2012 (has links)
M.A. / Literature studies have shown that the organization, as well as the individual in the organization is directly affected by violence. The reasons and characteristics of violence have an emotional impact on the employee, and requires of him to work through the impact of incidents in his own time. The result of this process is delayed psychological growth, less creativity which eventually has an impact on productivity. Workmotivation is the force behind reaching goals individually as well as for the organization. External factors which includes violence, have an influence on the employee's ability to feel satisfied in his work situation. The goal of this research study is to determine if Eskom employees that were exposed to incidents of violence have a workmotivation profile that can be identified. A sample was selected with available statistics in Eskom, as well as the snowball method. The sample included 220 respondents. The respondents completed a unstuctured questionnaire, where they had to identify incidents in their work situation that made them feel good / happy, and incidents that made them feel bad / unhappy. The questionnaire was developed by Frederick Herzberg (1968) as part of his motivation hygiene theory where factors of worksatisfaction and rkdissatisfaction were identified. The results were computerized, and quantified by means of descriptive statistics. A workmotivation profile was constructed from the data. The study confirmed that a workmotivation profile of employees that have been subjected to incidents of violence can be identified. Determinants of worksatisfaction and work dissatisfaction were identified as responsibility, supervision, content of work, recognition, promotion, circumstances at work, personal circumstances and violence. On this profile violence received the highest percentage as a determinant of workdissatisfaction.

En kvalitativ intervjustudie av gymnasiebibliotekariers emotionella arbete / A qualitative interview study of high school librarians' emotional labour

Lange, Louise January 2019 (has links)
Introduction. The concept of emotional labour can be described as the strategies used to express emotions required of a job, and the strategies used to suppress those emotions that are inappropriate in the workplace. This paper aims to examine the emotional labour of Swedish high school librarians. Method. For this study, six high school librarians were interviewed about emotional situations in the workplace and how they handle their emotions. The interview transcripts were analysed thematically, using QDA Miner Lite software. Analysis and results. Emotional labour theories and role theory were used to understand the librarians' emotional labour. The findings show that emotional labour occurs in interactions with students, teachers/colleagues and managers. Situations that require emotional labour include students that make a racket in the library, students in need of support in personal matters and challenges of instructional work. However, the most prominent theme concerns teachers/colleagues and managers who do not have accurate knowledge of the librarians' competencies. The librararians use deep and surface acting strategies to handle their emotions, as well as situation modification, situation selection and venting. These strategies are used both during interaction and before/after (outside of) situations. Conclusion. Interactions with students are not the primary cause of the librarians' emotional labour. Rather, the main reason for emotional labour is managers' and colleagues' limited knowledge of school library work and the competencies of school librarians. One effect of this limited knowledge is that the librarians do not always get the opportunity to practice their competence. Another effect is the risk that the students do not get equal access to the librarys' and the librarians' services – in turn, the risk of this inequality affects the librarians' emotional health negatively. This is a two years master’s thesis in Library and Information Science.

The relationship between organisational trust and quality of work life

Van der Berg, Yolandi 02 1900 (has links)
Recent organisational changes have refocused attention on the productivity and performance of sales representatives and consequently brought about a re-evaluation of the QWL these employees experience, as well as their trust in the organisation to support them. Responses to an internet-based survey methodology were analysed using quantitative techniques and structural equation modelling. Results confirm a positive relationship between Managerial Practices and Organisational Trust, and a lower relationship between the dimensions of Personality and Organisational Trust. A positive relationship was noted between QWL and Managerial Practices, and a lower relationship between QWL and the Personality constructs. This study accentuates the importance of management to be aware of the trust employees have in the organisation as well as their experience of QWL, as it seems as though the Personality traits and Managerial Practices of managers influences both the trust relationship and QWL experienced by employees. / Industrial and Organisational Psychology / M.A. (Industrial and Organisational Psychology)
