O presente trabalho tem como objeto central o estudo de uma importante família baiana entre os séculos XVI e XIX, que esteve diretamente envolvida nos processos de conquista territorial e acumulou vasta propriedade fundiária nesse período, além de exercer grande influência nas esferas de poder junto à administração colonial. Inicialmente refletimos sobre como a família Dias dÁvila tornou-se objeto de investigações historiográficas e como essa historiografia contribuiu para a afirmação de uma tradição interpretativa, que estabeleceu um vínculo direto entre sua trajetória e a formação de uma certa definição de História Nacional. Buscamos ainda esclarecer certos aspectos das relações entre os colonos e as populações autóctones no processo de conquista territorial, envolvendo desde a mestiçagem e incorporação, até os violentos conflitos que estiveram relacionados a esse processo. Também demonstramos alguns meandros das relações entre uma importante família senhorial e as diversas instâncias da administração colonial, bem como as estratégias desenvolvidas pela família para a aquisição, ampliação e manutenção de poder, entre as quais a obtenção de cargos e mercês, as ligações de casamento e os processos de transmissão de herança. Destacamos, nesse último aspecto, a instituição de um Morgado, como forma de vinculação de bens através de distintas gerações, excluindo, inclusive, certos membros da linha sucessória do acesso a bens da família. Nesse particular discutimos o significado de Casa como uma forma de agregação entre família e patrimônio que tinha a finalidade de garantir a obtenção e manutenção de poder econômico e político. Por fim, ressaltamos como a tradição construída em torno da família serviu e ainda serve aos objetivos de preservação do poder político, mesmo quando a família perdeu a capacidade de manutenção das bases de seu poder econômico. / This thesis has as the main object the study of an important family from Bahia between the XVI and XIX centuries, who were directly involved in the process of land conquest, and accumulated a vast estate during this time. Besides that, this family had a great capacity in influencing colonial administrations political power. Initially we reflect on how the Dias d`Avila`s family became the subject of historiographic investigations and how this historiography has contributed to establishing the method of interpreting tradition on this subject, which documented one direct relation connecting its trajectory and the formation of a certain national historic definition. We intend to provide a more detailed way of ascertaining certain aspects of the relationship between the colonists and the autochthonous populations. The process of territorial conquest raises questions about races mixture - cross breeding - mestisos and their acceptance, to the violent conflicts that were related to that process. We will also demonstrate some particularities concerning the relations between one important land owner family and the different colonial administration levels, as well as the strategies developed by the family in order to acquire, increase and maintain power. Among those strategies were public jobs obtaining in the colonial government and the receiving of graces (merces) through marriage connections and the controlling of the inheritance process, in which the Morgado (process of the eldest receiving the whole inheritance) stands out as a way of perpetuating the real estate property through out different generations without dividing it excluding, in some cases, some family members from the inheritance. In this particular case we discuss the meaning of Casa as a form of association between the family and the family estate which had the objective of ensuring the obtaining and keeping of political and economic power. Finally, we demonstrate that a tradition was built around the family which served, even today, as a means of retaining political power even tough when a family has lost its capacity of keeping the basis of its economic power.

Como parte de um projeto de pesquisa e desenvolvimento (P&D) mais amplo, que está sendo desenvolvido pela Escola de Engenharia de São Carlos - USP e Companhia Paulista de Força Luz (CPFL), com previsão de conclusão para 2010, este trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar os principais procedimentos para a realização da repotenciação de linhas de subtransmissão de 34,5 KV para 69 KV. Para atingir esse objetivo, é realizada inicialmente uma apreciação do estágio atual dos estudos sobre o tema, abordando inclusive outros métodos além daquele que será objeto específico desse estudo. Em seguida, discutem-se tópicos relevantes dos métodos apresentados de forma que, esse estudo, além de cumprir o já mencionado objetivo específico de apresentar soluções para aumentar a capacidade de transmissão de uma determinada linha, mantendo a sua faixa de servidão, indicará parâmetros válidos para a realização de outros projetos da mesma natureza. Sequencialmente são apresentadas as etapas desenvolvidas para a operacionalização da repotenciação de uma linha, a começar pela escolha da mais adequada, a seleção do método a ser utilizado, levando-se em consideração tanto a alteração do limite térmico da linha quanto à elevação de sua tensão operativa e os aspectos ambientais que envolvem a repotenciação. Finalmente, fazendo uso dos softwares ATP, através da interface gráfica ATPDraw (empregado para as XIV simulações de transitórios eletromagnéticos) e do Flux®, para as simulações dos campos elétricos em torno dos isoladores, realizou-se um conjunto de simulações computacionais pertinentes para um bom conhecimento do funcionamento da linha de subtransmissão a ser repotenciada na classe de interesse. Todas as etapas e as conclusões preliminares sobre o assunto delineado serão apresentadas neste documento. / As part of a wider research and development project, which is being developed between Escola de Engenharia de São Paulo USP and Companhia Paulista de Força e Luz (CPFL), scheduled to be finished in 2010, this work aims to present the main procedures to perform a repowering on subtransmission lines from 34.5 KV to 69 KV. To achieve this purpose, an assessment of the current studies about the subject is carried out, including an approach of other methods besides the one which is going to be the specific object of this study. After this, relevant points about the main methods are discussed in such a way that this study, in addition to serve its specific purpose, that is to present solutions in order to increase the transmission capacity of a determined line, keeping its right-of-way, can also point out valuable parameters which can be used to develop other projects of similar nature. Sequentially, the steps followed to operationalize the line repowering are presented, starting with the choice of the most suitable line, the selection of the method to be used, and taking into consideration both the change in the line thermal limit and the elevation on its operating voltage and also the environmental aspects involving repowering. At last, making use of ATP software throughout ATPDraw graphical interface (which is used to simulate electromagnetic transients) and Flux®, that simulates electrical fields around insulators, it is carried out a set of computational XVI simulations which are relevant to a good knowledge of the line subtransmission running. All the steps and preliminary conclusions about the subject are going to be outlined on this document.

Interações entre valores e atividade científica e sua aplicação ao contexto dos campos sulinosReis, Claudio Ricardo Martins dos January 2016 (has links)
Na primeira metade de século XX, tanto os empiristas lógicos quanto os racionalistas popperianos sustentaram que os juízos científicos corretos derivavam de sua conformação a certas regras: indutivas, dedutivas, hipotético-dedutivas ou formalizáveis segundo o cálculo de probabilidades. No entanto, após a emergência de novos trabalhos, como os de Thomas Kuhn, houve um amplo desenvolvimento de abordagens que analisam a inferência científica com base em valores, em vez de regras estabelecidas a priori. A estratégia proposta por Kuhn considera a prática científica e sua história um elemento importante para uma compreensão adequada da racionalidade da ciência. Sua abordagem envolve a consideração de valores cognitivos, tais como fecundidade, consistência e escopo de teorias. Ampliando essa abordagem, estudos mais recentes – a partir da década de 90 e com grande efervescência nos últimos anos – defendem a tese de que o conhecimento científico, além de um produto da atividade social, possui ele mesmo uma dimensão social intrínseca. Poderíamos perguntar, então, em que medida valores não cognitivos, tais como valores morais e sociais, moldam a prática científica; e como esses valores poderiam exercer um papel legítimo ou mesmo contribuir para a produção de conhecimento. Essas questões envolvem o problema, bastante expressivo atualmente (cf. Longino, 2015), sobre a chamada “dimensão social do conhecimento científico”. Neste trabalho, abordo o referido problema no que tange à relação entre valores e atividade científica, utilizando-me, para a construção do artigo aqui presente, a abordagem do filósofo da ciência Hugh Lacey e aplicando-a a um contexto específico: as possibilidades de uso produtivo dos chamados Campos Sulinos. / In the first half of the XXth century, both logical empiricists and popperian rationalists sustained that correct scientific judgements derived from the conformation to certain rules: inductive, deductive, hypothetical-deductive or formalizable according to the calculation of probabilities. However, mainly because of Thomas Kuhn’s works, there was an extensive development of approaches that analyze the scientific inference based on values, rather than on a priori established rules. The proposal of Kuhn considers the scientific practice and history as elements of relevance to the comprehension of science’s rationality. His approach considers cognitive values, such as fecundity, consistence, and scope of theories. Expanding this approach, recent studies – starting in the 90s and with great effervescence in recent years – defend the thesis that scientific knowledge, besides being a product of social activity, features an intrinsic social dimension. We could ask, in what measure noncognitive values, such as moral and social values, shape the scientific practice; and how these values could exercise a legitimate role, or even contribute to the production of knowledge. These questions involve the currently quite significant (cf. Longino, 2015) problem called “social dimension of the scientific knowledge”. In this work, I approach the mentioned question regarding the relation between values and the scientific activity, using the approach of the philosopher of science Hugh Lacey, and applying it to a specific background: the possibilities of the productive use of the south Brazilian native grasslands, know Campos Sulinos.

La importancia del género gramatical en la enseñanza de español como lengua extranjeraRios Moreno, Cynthia P. 08 1900 (has links)
Le présent travail est encadré dans le domaine de la linguistique appliquée de l'espagnol comme langue étrangère (ELE), et plus spécifiquement dans l'enseignement du genre grammatical en ELE. Notre intérêt en tant que enseignants c’est de pouvoir établir une méthode fiable selon les critères du Plan curricular de l'Institut Cervantès et la technique du consciousness-raising, ainsi que élaborer des activités destinées à l'enseignement du genre grammatical dans la classe d’ELE.
L'enseignement d'ELE au Québec suit les mêmes méthodes qu'en Europe. En ce qui concerne l'enseignement du genre grammatical, les études consultées ratifient le manque d'instruction pertinente à propos du genre grammatical, ainsi que la difficulté dans la concordance même dans des niveaux avancés. Cependant, l'analyse de manuels d'ELE utilisés dans les diverses institutions de Montréal permet de conclure que ceux-ci ne suivent pas les règles établies par le Plan curricular en ce qui concerne l'enseignement du genre. Pour vérifier ces faits un travail de champ a été mis en place avec 84 étudiants et étudiantes de six institutions de Montréal pendant deux mois et deux semaines. Les résultats de la recherche et l'analyse d'erreurs nous montrent qu’il y a des problèmes avec le genre grammatical chez les étudiants de niveau intermédiaire et que les erreurs ne disparaissent pas avec les activités de renfort créées. Il est donc nécessaire d’adopter une méthode plus appropriée à l'apprentissage du genre grammatical dans une classe d’ELE et la présence du professeur pour la présenter. En effet, l'exécution d'activités créées n'est pas suffisant, car bien que les résultats montrent un léger progrès dans le cas du groupe B, ou d’expérience, en comparaison au groupe A, ou de control, on a constaté qu’une instruction formelle aurait entrainé un meilleur et plus complet apprentissage du genre grammatical dans le cas de nos étudiants; de là la nécessité d'établir une méthode fiable pour son enseignement. / The present work is part of the applied linguistics area; it particularly focuses on the methodology of teaching the grammatical gender in TSFL. Our interest as a teacher is to put together a reliable method, under the criteria of the Plan curricular of the Cervantes Institute and the technique of the consciousness-raising, also to elaborate activities for the teaching of the grammatical gender in Spanish as a Foreign Language SFL class.
SFL is thought in Quebec with the same methods as those used in Europe. In regards to the grammatical gender, the consulted studies show the lack of pertinent instruction of the grammatical gender, as well as the difficulty in the assignment of the concordance in advanced levels. The analysis of SFL's manuals used in the diverse institutions of Montreal confirms that they do not follow the guidelines established by the Plan curricular. To verify these facts a two months and two weeks long fieldwork was carried out with 84 students. The students came from six different institutions of Montreal and were, therefore, divided in groups. The research’s results and the Errors’ Analysis confirm the existence of the grammatical gender problems in the students of intermediate level. Furthermore, the research shows that these mistakes do not disappear with reinforcement activities designed. In fact, it is necessary to adopt a method specifically adjusted to the learning of the grammatical gender in a SFL's class. Just as the method, the teacher should take a specific posture when teaching the grammatical gender. As shown by the results of the investigation, the execution of activities is not sufficient. The data demonstrate that the group B - categorized as of experience- has a slight progress in comparison to group A - control. Such results indicate that the formal instruction would have led to a better and more complete learning of the grammatical gender, hence the need to gather a reliable method of teaching. / El presente trabajo se enmarca dentro de la lingüística aplicada, y más específicamente dentro de la enseñanza del género gramatical en ELE. Nuestro interés como docente es poder armar un método confiable, bajo los criterios del Plan curricular del Instituto Cervantes y la técnica del consciousness-raising, y elaborar actividades para la enseñanza del género en clase de ELE.
La enseñanza de ELE en Quebec sigue los mismos métodos que en Europa. En cuanto a la enseñanza del género gramatical, los estudios consultados muestran tanto la falta de instrucción pertinente sobre el género gramatical, como la dificultad en la asignación de la concordancia en niveles avanzados. El análisis de manuales de ELE utilizados en las diversas instituciones de Montreal confirma que no siguen las pautas establecidas por el Plan curricular. Para comprobar estos hechos se llevó a cabo un trabajo de campo con 84 estudiantes, divididos en grupos, de seis instituciones de Montreal durante dos meses y dos semanas. Los resultados de la investigación y el análisis de errores nos muestran que existen problemas de género gramatical en los estudiantes de nivel intermedio y que los errores no desaparecen solo con las actividades de refuerzo diseñadas, es necesario un método más adecuado para el aprendizaje del género gramatical en clase de ELE y la figura del profesor para presentarlo. En efecto, la ejecución de las actividades no es suficiente, pues aunque los resultados del grupo B o de experiencia exhiben un ligero progreso en comparación a los del grupo A o de control, se constata que la instrucción formal hubiera conducido a un mejor y más completo aprendizaje del género gramatical por parte de los estudiantes de la muestra; de ahí la necesidad de armar un método confiable para su enseñanza.

Much research has been dedicated to the difficulties LGBTQ individuals face. Further, school counselors have been challenged to assist LGBTQ individuals in the school setting. Being aware of the specific issues and being educated about specific ways to assist these individuals enable school counselors to be more effective clinicians (DePaul, Walsh, & Dam, 2009). This article will address three components of counselor preparation and affirmative school counseling interventions: counselor self-awareness, LGBTQ sexual identity development, and LGBTQ-affirmative school climate. For each component, an activity is presented to assist professional school counselors become more LGBTQ-affirmative.

Decoding Metacommunication Patterns From African American Single Mothers to SonsHenderson, Michael-Kamau 01 January 2016 (has links)
With a significant number of African American single-parent families responsible for raising a generation of male children, the focus of this qualitative case study was on exploring the African American single mother-son dyad to identify metacommunicative signals delivered from mothers to sons. This study was grounded in a theoretical framework combining attachment theory and social learning theory. The research questions focused on identifying metacommunication messages passed from mothers to sons and how metacommunication patterns influence the youth's social identity. Four single mothers with adolescent sons and 4 unrelated adult sons of single mothers participated in semistructured interviews. Data were collected and analyzed using content analysis and coding supported with NVivo software. Key findings revealed that the metacommunication was a dominant form of communication in the African-American family construct, and affected the parenting styles. From the mother's retrospective reports, African-American mother's adapted an authoritarian or helicopter parenting styles to control and protect their sons from racism, becoming victims of crime and violence, being arrested, or incarcerated. The key finding from the sons' retrospective reports was that negative metacommunication from single mothers to sons was associated with insecure attachment, avoidance, and risky behaviors. The implications for social change are that positive metacommunication can strengthen the African American single mother-son dyad. This information may lead to intervention strategies for targeting negative metacommunication patterns from African American single mothers to sons and teaching new communication rules that foster a secure relationship.

受到氣候極端變遷的影響,近年來,世界各地接二連三地出現許多重大天然災害,讓我們賴以生存的地球,正面臨著嚴峻環境災難的考驗。面對這個重要課題,除了政府必須肩負的責任外,非政府組織從環境保護、減災預防、災難準備、以致災難發生時的緊急救援,到災後的復建與重建工作等環節上,也扮演愈來愈重要的角色,近代各國政府都把積極參與人道救援的非政府組織視為災難救援和賑濟上的重要伙伴。
人道救援和一般社會服務工作的動員模式與服務取向不同,除了必須在短時間內滿足無法事先確定的大量需求外,人道救援的目的是在有限資源的前提下,公允地維持受災民眾必要的生存環境、條件與尊嚴。是以,人道救援組織從平時救災人員的訓練、養成,救災器材設備與救援物資的整備,到災難發生時可以快速反應的動員能量,甚至災後不管復原或重建階段各項專業領域的參與,都需要掌握相當實力的資源,才能在必要的時候派上用場。
目前國內主要從事海內、外人道救援的民間組織,其從事人道救援的財源幾乎百分之百依賴民間捐款,而因應每次災難事件的不同,其所募得款項的多寡差異非常大,但國內相關影響重大災難募款金額多寡的因素研究卻很少,為使有限、寶貴的社會資源可以更合理、妥切地被運用,研究者以紅十字會在九二一大地震之後十年來十五起賑災專案募款的結果,運用個案研究的深度訪談以及焦點團體的探討,嘗試彙整出影響國人重大災難捐款的因素。
是以,本研究從災難本身、捐款人、勸募者及社會政經情境等面向,歸納出可能影響重大災難募捐款項的二十個因素,藉以分析說明並對照實務上募款金額的多寡。此外,本研究也提供了幾項重大災難募捐的特性,希望可以做為國人或後續研究者參用。
最後,本研究建議國人應該深切體認資源有限,整體社會的資源不管來自何處、流向何處,其總和也是不變的,因此,無論是資源的擁有者、分配者、執行者,以及在這個過程中可能影響資源分配運用的關係人,如政府、媒體等,都應該珍惜這個寶貴的資源,善用它,讓它發揮應有的社會功能。尤其,人道救援是一個關乎生命,非常嚴肅的議題,很多人認為重大災難捐款是一種衝動性捐款,但研究者卻堅信捐款行為只是表象,其真正是人的「愛心」在驅動,因此,必須從理性、審慎的態度來探究愛心背後可能影響捐款人作為的因素,並進而提供國人的愛心一個更好的捐款與資源運用環境。 / As a result of extreme climate changes, the world has witnessed many major natural disasters. Hence, the earth on which we live is confronting severe environmental challenge. To cope with such a severe challenge, other than the governments which must take up the responsibilities, NGOs are playing more important roles which include environmental protection, disaster prevention, disaster preparedness, as well as in the event of occurrence of natural disasters, emergency relief, recovery and reconstruction. Nowaday, the governments treat NGOs as their indispensable partners in the efforts of disaster rescue and relief.
Humanitarian relief is different from social working network. The former must within a short period mobilize resources to meet unpredictable yet huge amount of need. The objective of humanitarian relief is to provide the people who were adversely affected by the disasters with resources, however limited, to live with dignity and fairness. Therefore, NGOs doing humanitarian relief must prepare themselves not only in the training of rescue teams, securing adequate equipments so that they can respond promptly to disasters, but also be in command of substantial resource so as to meet the urgent need in emergency relief, recovery and reconstruction.
The humanitarian organizations of Taiwan, whom undertake disaster relief in Taiwan and oversea, obtain funding almost 100% from the private sector. Since the amount of fund raised in different disasters can be vastly different, to help rational allocation of limited yet valuable resources in disaster relief, the author has made efforts to collect data from 15 disaster-fund-raising events since the 921 earthquake in 1999, and to analyse the factors that are relevant to the donors’ behavior. The author has also carried out analysis of the factors by in-depth case study and focus group interview. On the basis of such data, case study and interview, the author has identified 20 factors from such perspective as nature of disasters, donors, fund-raising organizers, social-economic- political situation, etc. This paper also enumerates a number of important characteristics of fund-raising in major disasters.
To conclude, the author likes to point out that the sum total of resources available to any disaster effort project is a constant. Therefore, all players in any major disaster relief project, including the organizers, the media, the government and others, must carefully use the resources and to achieve maximum utility of the resource for the benefits of those who are in need, to recover and to re-live from the disaster. Such an observation is meaningful because humanitarian relief is a serious subject and donation is not merely an act of impulse, it is also an act of “love”. Therefore, we must carefully explore the relevant factors that contribute to the donors’ behaviors. Only by so doing, we can structure a better environment under which fund-raising motivated by “love” can be truly successful and meaningful use of such resources to the maximum benefit of the people affected by the disasters be assured.

Utveckling av QuickMove : Ett hjälpmedel för uppresning och flyttning av brukare / Development of QuickMove : A raising and transfer aids of patientsPedersen, Zara, Birkehag, Malin January 2012 (has links)
Designingenjörsstudenterna, Pedersen och Birkehag, på Högskolan i Skövde har i samarbete med hjälpmedelsföretaget Handicare AB arbetat med ett produktutvecklingsprojekt under våren 2012. Projektets syfte var att uppgradera företagets befintliga produkt QuickMove som är ett uppresning- och förflyttningshjälpmedel inom vården. Målet var att bibehålla QuickMoves funktioner och säkerhet samt skapa innovativa lösningar och minska transport- och tillverkningskostnader. Produktutvecklingsprocessen skedde iterativt och började med kundundersökningar i form av enkäter, intervjuer och fokusgrupper. Med hjälp av detta gjordes en kundkravsspecifikation som under hela projektet fanns nära till hands. Därefter påbörjades idégenereringen med hjälp av diverse kreativitetsmetoder. En fullskalig modell byggdes därefter i VP-rör och silvertejp. Utvärderingar och tester gjordes på modellen som därefter kunde vidareutvecklas och modelleras i programvaran SolidWorks. Hållfasthetsberäkningar, materialval, tillverkningsmetoder, formspråk, kostnader och ergonomi var områden som arbetades med och ett slutkoncept fastställdes. Resultatet bestod av ett uppgraderat hjälpmedel som fick namnet UpAway. Hjälpmedlets fraktvolym kommer att minska med 75 procent och produkten har färre antal delar jämfört med QuickMove. UpAways nya genomarbetade design och funktionella anpassningar kommer leda till fler nya användargrupper både inom Sverige och internationellt/globalt. Enligt studenternas bedömning har UpAway alla förutsättningar till en bredare marknad. / During the Spring of 2012 Pedersen and Birkehag, two product design engineering students at University of Skövde, carried out a product development project in cooperation with Handicare AB. The aim of the project was to upgrade QuickMove, the current standing-up and transfer aid used in health care and developed by Handicare. The goal of the project was to maintain the functions and safety features of QuickMove while creating new innovative solutions and lowering the transportation and manufacturing costs. The product development process was iterative and started with the research of customer requirements, which involved user studies and interviews. The customer requirements specification is based on customers’ needs and was used as guideline throughout the product development process. Ideas and concepts were generated with various creativity methods. A full scale model was built with VP-pipe and duct tape. Evaluations and tests were performed on the model and further developments were carried out. To analyze the result a visual model was built with the software SolidWorks. Strength of materials analyses, material selection, development, design, cost and ergonomics were all taken in consideration and a final concept was elaborated. The result was an upgraded aid named UpAway. This aid contains fewer parts than QuickMove and will reduce transportation volume by 75 percent. The newly developed design of UpAway, adapted to customers’ demands, will generate customers’ interest and according the students thus result in a broader market both in Sweden and worldwide.
