A (des)ordem doméstica : disposições, desvios e diálogosMonsell, Alice Jean January 2009 (has links)
The doctoral research project in Visual Poetics, entitled, “Domestic (dis)order: (dis)placements, detours and dialogues”, at the PPGAV/IA/UFRGS, oriented by Professor Hélio Fervenza, PhD since 2005, initially proposed visiting the houses of collaborators who recorded the placement and display of objects in their homes. In my house, I proceeded to develop tactical procedures of détournement (detour) of my domestic and artistic practices based on quotidian models - the records of visits and observed domestic material and social processes, both ephemeral and random - noting some of my references in art: the “Tableaux Piéges” (Snare Pictures) (1960-70) by Daniel Spoerri; “Gartenskulptur” (1968-96) by Dieter Roth; Gordon Matta-Clark, Kurt Schwitters, as well as the notion of “lifelike art” in Allan Kaprow. Between 2005 and 2006, procedures emerge that detour (deturn) the processes of use and the function of domestic objects through their reconstruction, using as work materials the “leftovers”, which refers to all useless objects that had been stored and were accumulating in my home. The “dust-o-graph” investigates the placement of crochet doilies by detouring their everyday function into a graphic tool for stenciling with household dust, shuffling this object’s cultural order. The household gesture of sweeping suffers a detour through the procedure of “re-picturing” when floor dust and scraps are transformed into “pictures” placed hanging on the wall above the sofa, problematizing a model of art, as well as a model of placement and display in the home. Toward the end of 2006, I began to experiment with insertion of photographic documents from visits into real or reconstructed domestic objects. This is one of the procedures developed to elaborate questions involving public presentation. At this stage, the poetic proposal of public presentation and display “domestication” emerges. This refers to the operation of “domesticating a non-domestic space” by recontextualizing, for example, an art gallery, a classroom or a garage using placement models observed in homes. The “domestication” of a gallery makes the aesthetic function of objects and its social order oscillate, transforming the space into a means to offer a context for dialogue and exchanges. One of the tactics for potentializing interactions is my own presence in the presentation space, at certain times, when I “receive visitors”, converse, offer tea and cookies… aiming to place doubt on the function and order of objects (dis)placed there and at proposing an alternative social model for the relations that may occur within an intimate public space.

[en] MAGNETIC SUSCEPTIBILITY TOMOGRAPHY USING A SUPERCONDUCTOR SQUID MAGNETOMETER / [pt] TOMOGRAFIA DE SUSCEPTIBILIDADE MAGNÉTICA COM MAGNETÔMETRO SUPERCONDUTOR SQUIDEDUARDO PARENTE RIBEIRO 10 July 2006 (has links)
técnicas usadas rotineiramente no ambiente clínico, e a
[en] Several modalities of tomography have been developed for
medical applications. Some example are x-ray tomography,
positron emission tomography and magnetic resonance
imaging which are used routinely in the clinical
enviroment and electricall impedance tomography, still
considered a research technique. During the seventies,
measurements of the weak fields produced by the human body
with unprecendet signal to noise ratio were made possible
with the use of SQUIDs (Superconducting Quantum
Interference Device). Magnetic susceptibility is a
physical property of the matter including biological
tissues to interact with an applied magnetic field. A
technique to reconstruct three-dimensional susceptibity
distribuition from measurements of the pertubartion of the
magnetic field was studied and improved. Simulations to
reconstruct the three-dimensional susceptibility
distribution of a body from the measurement in the
presence of noise were carried out and the tomographic
reconstruction from the measurement in the presence of
noise were carried out and the tomographic reconstruction
from experimental measurement in the presence of noise
were carried out and the tomographic reconstruction from
experimental measurements with acrylic samples performed.
Although this new modality of tomography presents severe
spatial resolution limitation, it represents a new source
of informatio from the interior of body with promising
applications in the biomedical field and nondestrutive
evaluations.

[en] AN ALGORITHM FOR CURVE RECONSTRUCTION FROM SPARSE POINTS / [pt] UM ALGORITMO PARA RECONSTRUÇÃO DE CURVAS A PARTIR DE PONTOS ESPARSOSCRISTIANE AZEVEDO FERREIRA 23 January 2004 (has links)
fronteira.
interior).
[en] Curve and surface reconstruction from sparse data has been
recognized as an important problem in computer graphics.
Non structured data points (i.e., a set of points with no
knowledge of connectivity and proximity) together with
the existence of noise make this problem quite difficult.
In order to solve it, several techniques have been
proposed, such as, some of them are based on Delaunay
triangulation, other are based on implicit surface
reconstruction or on the advancing front techniques. Our
algorithm consists basically in four steps. In the first
step, a clustering procedure is performed in order to group
the sample points according to their spatial location. This
procedure obtains an spatial structure for the points by
subdividing uniformly the plane in rectangular cells, and
classifying them into two categories: empty (when the cell
contains no point inside) or not empty (otherwise). At this
stage, a data structure is built in such way that it is
possible to query the set of sample points that belong to a
given rectangular cell. The second step processes the point
through the Moving Least Squares method. Its objective
is not only to reduce the noise on the data, but also to
adapt the number of point to the desired level, by adding
or removing points from the initial set. The third step
builds the skeleton of the set of cells that have sample
point on its interior. Such skeleton is in fact a digital
approximation for the curve that will be reconstructed. It
is obtained by the use of a topological thinning algorithm,
and its implementation is done in such a way that the
number of points in each cell is considered, for example,
the cells with less number of points are not considered for
the thinning. In the last step, the curve is finally
reconstructed To do so, the skeleton obtained in the third
step is used to construct a piecewise-linear approximation
for the curve, where each vertex is obtained from the MLS
projection on the middle point of the skeleton rectangular
cell.

[en] EVALUATION OF A 3D RECONSTRUCTION ALGHORITHM WITH RGB-D SENSORS / [pt] AVALIAÇÃO DE UM ALGORITMO DE RECONSTRUÇÃO 3D COM SENSORES RGB-DIAN MEDEIROS COELHO 16 January 2017 (has links)
[en] Depth sensors of the type RGB-D are interesting alternatives to do a 3D reconstruction of the environment with low cost. In this work, we evaluate a reconstruction pipe-line implemented on GPU that merges a point cloud alignment tracking system to estimate the camera position and a volumetric reconstruction/visualization to smooth the naturally noise measures from the sensor, using the Kinect as RGB-D input. A technical analysis of the algorithm has been made, showing the impact of parameter modifications of the system and a comparative of time and precision between the presented implementation and a public version available by the Point Cloud Library (PCL) during the development of this work. Some modifications to the original work have been made and the performance tests demonstrate that our implementation is faster than the PCL version without compromising the reconstruction precision.

[en] SILHOUETTES AND LAPLACIAN LINES OF POINT CLOUDS VIA LOCAL RECONSTRUCTION / [pt] SILHUETAS E LINHAS LAPLACIANAS DE NUVENS DE PONTOS VIA RECONSTRUÇÃO LOCALTAIS DE SA PEREIRA 29 September 2014 (has links)
[en] In this work we propose a new method for silhouette extraction of a point cloud, via local reconstruction of a surface described implicitly by a polynomial function. This reconstruction is based on the Gradient one
fitting and Ridge regression methods. The curve silhouette is implicitly defined by a system of nonlinear equations, and is obtained using numerical continuation. As a result, we observe that our method is suitable to handle noisy data. In addition, we present a method for extracting Laplacian Lines of a point cloud based on local reconstruction using the Delaunay triangulation.

[en] QUALITY ENHANCEMENT OF HIGHLY DEGRADED MUSIC USING DEEP LEARNING-BASED PREDICTION MODELS / [pt] RECONSTRUÇÃO DE MÚSICAS ALTAMENTE DEGRADADAS USANDO MODELOS DE APRENDIZADO PROFUNDOARTHUR COSTA SERRA 21 October 2022 (has links)
[en] Audio quality degradation can have many causes. For musical
applications, this fragmentation may lead to highly unpleasant experiences.
Restoration algorithms may be employed to reconstruct missing parts of
the audio in a similar way as for image reconstruction - in an approach
called audio inpainting. Current state-of-theart methods for audio inpainting
cover limited scenarios, with well-defined gap windows and little variety
of musical genres. In this work, we propose a Deep-Learning-based (DLbased)
method for audio inpainting accompanied by a dataset with random
fragmentation conditions that approximate real impairment situations. The
dataset was collected using tracks from different music genres to provide a
good signal variability. Our best model improved the quality of all musical
genres, obtaining an average of 13.1 dB of PSNR, although it worked better
for musical genres in which acoustic instruments are predominant.

[en] MUSEU NACIONAL: MEMORY AND POST-TRAUMA CULTURAL HERITAGE / [pt] MUSEU NACIONAL: MEMÓRIA E O PATRIMÔNIO CULTURAL PÓS-TRAUMAMARIANA DE MARSILLAC LESSA 30 September 2021 (has links)
[en] Museu Nacional: memory and post-trauma cultural heritage is a research that seeks to deepen the layers that make up the Museu Nacional before and after the fire in 2018. The questions raised come from the trauma that occurred and the reports of this event, but also from the history of the Museum from the perspective of heritage, understanding the evolution of its concept and the different currents of conservation at national and international level. The research prioritizes Alois Riegl s general theory of values, which defends the need to reconcile elements of the past and present in the contemporary city, as well as analyzing the current scenario of cultural heritage in a globalized society. It seeks to unravel the elements of the patrimonial discussion capable of valuing a building, and why its need for preservation makes it unique and irreplaceable, just like its cultural significance. In addition, it seeks to deepen the theme of collective memory – initially described by Maurice Halbwachs – social and individual, relating them phenomenologically to the formation of identity and place. Trauma enters the research under a temporal perspective, a new variable in the relationship and identification between people and the Museum, before and after the fire, seeking directions and references for reconstruction. Finally, the research promotes an analysis of the current situation and the conceptual project disclosed for the reconstruction of the Museu Nacional and the objectives behind the proposal.
