The diploma thesis aims to map the lived reality of adult intact siblings of people with autism spectrum disorders in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part provides an insight into the current knowledge in the field of autism spectrum disorders and the manifestations thereof, sibling relationships and the impact of autism spectrum disorders on the family in general, and with respect to intact siblings, in particular. In the empirical part I focus on the description and analysis of qualitative research involving five intact siblings of people with autism spectrum disorders aged 28-29. For the purposes of the research, a semi-structured interview had been chosen, subsequently analyzed and interpreted. The interview topics concerned the past and present relationship of the informants to their siblings with ASD, ideas about their common future, the personality of an intact sibling or certain life choices of the informants. The results of the diploma thesis showed an interesting picture of the development of the sibling relationships with people with ASD, which are strongly affected by the nature of the disorder. In this study, we adopt the concept of adolescence as a socially and historically constructed phenomenon, which is not interpreted as a natural phase of human development. The present research is qualitative and based on the theoretical and methodological principles of Vigotski s social-historical psychology, focusing on the historical and dialectical materialism perspective. The participants were five pairs of adolescent siblings from 12 to 18 years old, enrolled in Escola de Circo, one of the extension programs of the Instituto Dom Fernando (IDF) at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Goiás (PUC-Goiás), in Goiânia (GO). The ten participants were interviewed individually and, at the end of the interviews, each of them produced a drawing expressing their relationship with the sibling. After that, they participated in two focal groups (FG), for which they were separated and each member of the sibling dyads took part in a different group: FG1 and FG2. According to the core meanings of the participants, it was possible to apprehend the senses and meanings that each adolescent attributed to himself, the sibling, and the family. In this study, the following main thesis was pursued: the senses and meanings attributed by the participant adolescents to their relationship with the sibling are marked by affective relationships, which are conflicts and friendship. From this principal thesis, others were also pursued, such as: lack of parental authority (and the affective fragility of families) gives way to situations involving violence and authoritarianism between siblings; violence and rivalry within the family are dialectically constituent and constituted based on violence within society; family is the legitimate place for children education/upbringing. Overall, this study evidenced that the adolescents have a naturalized concept of adolescence. We conclude that the physical or verbal violence between adolescent siblings was triggered by the uneven and asymmetrical relationship between them. Friendship between adolescent siblings is an important aspect of their relationship, and although conflicts are also present, this relationship may be very gratifying and enriching for both. Family, the complex combination of the relationships of its members, constituted the space for the antagonism experienced by adolescent siblings, as well as by all its members. / Neste estudo, buscou-se apreender os sentidos e significados que irmãos adolescentes das classes populares atribuem à relação que se estabelece entre eles. A concepção de adolescência adotada neste trabalho é a de fenômeno construído social e historicamente, não sendo interpretada como uma fase natural do desenvolvimento humano. A presente pesquisa enquadra-se no tipo qualitativo e é pautada pelos pressupostos teórico-metodológicos da psicologia sócio-histórica de Vigotski, fundamentados na perspectiva do materialismo histórico e dialético. Participaram como sujeitos cinco duplas de irmãos adolescentes entre 12 e 18 anos de idade, que frequentavam a Escola de Circo, um dos programas de extensão do Instituto Dom Fernando (IDF) da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Goiás (PUCGoiás) em Goiânia (GO). Os dez irmãos foram entrevistados individualmente e, ao final das entrevistas, cada um produziu um desenho expressando a sua relação com o irmão. Posteriormente, participaram de dois grupos focais (GF), separando-se os componentes das duplas de irmãos, cada um tendo tomado parte em um grupo diferente: GF1 e GF2. A partir dos núcleos de significação dos sujeitos, apreenderam-se os sentidos e os significados que cada adolescente atribuiu a si, ao irmão e à família. Neste trabalho, buscou-se defender a seguinte tese central: os sentidos e os significados atribuídos pelos adolescentes participantes à sua relação com seu irmão são marcados por relações afetivas, que são os conflitos e a amizade. A partir dessa tese central, procurou-se defender outras, como: a ausência de autoridade dos pais (e a fragilidade afetiva da família) cede lugar às situações de autoritarismo entre irmãos; a violência e a rivalidade na família são constituintes e constituídas dialeticamente a partir da violência na sociedade; a família é o lugar legítimo para a educação/criação dos filhos. De forma geral, constatou-se que os próprios adolescentes trazem consigo um conceito naturalizante sobre adolescência. Conclui-se que a violência física ou verbal entre irmãos adolescentes foi desencadeada pelas relações de desigualdade e de assimetria entre eles. A amizade entre irmãos adolescentes configura-se em um aspecto importante das relações entre eles, e embora também haja conflitos, estas relações podem ser muito gratificantes e enriquecedoras para ambos. A família, conjunto complexo das relações entre seus membros, constituiu o espaço dos antagonismos vivenciados pelos irmãos adolescentes, assim como entre todos os seus membros.

Friend, foe, or both? A retrospective exploration of sibling relationships in elite youth sport

With the abundance of literature focusing on parental influence in sport, it is important to identify family dynamics that extend beyond parents to include siblings. In this study, sibling influence was explored though interviews with previously identified elite youth female athletes (N=4) and their sibling (N=4) of the same sex who participated in the same sport. The purpose was to discover how siblings influence sport participation and how parents influence sibling relationships, retrospectively. Three categories emerged from the data: positive experiences participating in the same sport, negative experiences participating in the same sport, and perception of the parental role. The participants’ descriptions coincide with observational learning and both deidentification and divergence processes. The data adds to the probable sibling and parent experiences proposed in the Developmental Model of Sport Participation and provides insight for athletes, parents, and coaches on how to manage sibling relations in sport. / October 2015

THE ABSTRACT The thesis deals with sibling relationships of twins and triplets when one or more siblings suffer from some health disability or handicap. It outlines the way of life in sibling constellations of twins and triplets. It deals with the topic of a disabled person who has brothers or sisters. It defines family as a pillar of person's life and it focuses on the sibling relationships. The thesis explains the connection between multiple births and the occurrence of disability, and it considers certain aspects of family life, with the main focus on siblings, when one of the siblings suffers from some health limitation. It also describes twins and triplets and their specific features. For example, it shows the development of the identity of each of the siblings, the role of their birth order, the types of relationships that occur in a family with twins and triplets, and the way the siblings may experience the separation from one another. It draws on publications and other sources that deal with sibling constellations and the resulting relationships among the siblings, on the publications on twins and triplets, on children and adults with disability or handicap. ANOTACE: Rodina je místem, kde dochází k prvním sociálním vztahům a vazbám. Každý jedinec, má potřebu kontaktů s jinými lidmi. Ještě před dovršením tří let věku dítěte roste v každém touha být ve společenství vrstevníků. Tyto první kontakty dítě zažívá v rodině se sourozenci a v mateřské škole. Sourozenecká skupina vymezuje osobnost jedince, má vliv na jeho osobnostní charakteristiky a chování. Vědomí sama sebe se buduje prostřednictvím vztahů k druhému. Jakou roli bude dítě v rodině mít, je spjato s mnoha faktory, kterými jsou: počet sourozenců v rodině, pořadí narození sourozenců, věkový rozdíl a pohlaví. Následně záleží na výchovném přístupu rodičů. Vstup dítěte do mateřské školy je velkou životní změnou pro dítě i pro celou rodinu. Aby vstup proběhl hladce, musí být dítě připraveno odloučit se od rodičů, zvykat si na nové prostředí, na společenství vrstevníků, najít si svou vlastní identitu. Jak proběhne vstup a adaptace do skupiny vrstevníků, záleží na stupni socializace předškolního dítěte. V diplomové práci se zabývám na základě poznatků z rozhovorů, dotazníků a pozorování porovnáním schopností a dovedností sourozeneckých dvojic při nástupu do mateřské školy. 背景變項、父母管教方式、手足關係與高中生寂寞之相關研究 / Background Variables, Parenting Styles, Sibling Relationships, and Senior High School Students' Loneliness

本研究之主要目的在探討(一)性別、年級、出生序與高中生寂寞之關係;(二)父母管教方式與高中生寂寞之關係;(三)手足關係與高中生寂寞之關係;(四)背景變項、父母管教方式、手足關係對高中生寂寞之預測力。 本研究使用調查研究法,並透過文獻分析、問卷調查與統計分析等步驟歸納結論。研究對象為就讀於台北縣市之高中生,共施測1044份問卷,其中有效問卷為906份。研究工具計有:(一)基本資料調查表;(二)寂寞量表;(三)父(母)管教方式量表;(四)手足關係量表。使用之統計方法為:因素分析、描述統計、單因子單變量變異數分析、相關分析、多元迴歸分析,並以Scheffe′法進行事後比較。研究結果如下: 一、不同年級的高中生,在整體寂寞及『寂寞無助』、『缺乏友伴』、『歸屬感弱』三個寂寞向度上均無顯著差異。 二、不同性別的高中生,其寂寞程度具有顯著差異:高中男生整體寂寞較女生為高,並且較女生感到缺乏友伴。 三、不同出生序的高中生,在整體寂寞及三個寂寞向度上均無顯著差異。 四、父親管教方式不同,高中生之寂寞程度具有顯著差異:在父親忽視冷漠管教方式下,高中子女最為寂寞。 五、母親管教方式不同,高中生之寂寞程度具有顯著差異:大致在忽視冷漠管教方式下,高中子女之寂寞程度較開明權威、寬鬆放任管教方式為高;而母親若採用專制權威管教方式,高中子女將較採用開明權威管教方式者感到缺乏友伴以及缺乏歸屬感。 六、父母管教方式不同,高中生之寂寞程度具有顯著差異:大致在父母均採用忽視冷漠管教方式下,高中子女之寂寞程度較均採用開明權威、專制權威管教方式為高;此外,若父母管教方式不一致,高中子女之整體寂寞以及三個寂寞向度之得分,均較父母均採用開明權威管教方式者高。 七、四項手足關係均與高中生之寂寞顯著相關:手足間衝突越高、父母對手足越偏寵,則高中生寂寞程度越高;手足關係越親密、在手足間之相對地位越高,則高中生越不咸到寂寞。 八、背景變項、父母管教方式、手足關係等變項,均能有效預測高中生之寂寞。對寂寞之解釋量分別為:整體寂寞-12.8%;寂寞無助-13.3%;缺乏友伴-14.3%;歸屬威弱-7.3%。 本研究針對上述發現加以討論,並提出建議以供父母及學校輔導人員參考。
