Wallin, Tia January 2024 (has links)
Background: Students with school attendance problems, not only run the risk of failing school, but they also run an increased risk of psychosocial problems in adulthood. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to what can be done early, before the more extensive problems have developed. Through the school social work, it is possible to analyse the entire context around school attendance and school attendance problems. Objectives: To present what has emerged in previous research regarding school counselors’ health promotion and prevention work to increase school attendance and prevent school attendance problems among students in elementary school. Method: Scoping review Eligibility criteria: Publications were selected according to PRISMA ScR guidelines. Sources of evidence: Peer-reviewed articles Charting methods: A qualitative content analysis based on a systems theory approach is presented in both tables and text. The analysis was based on the results and conclusion of the included articles and was described through a categorization against the objectives and different system levels. Results: The school counselors work to strengthen relationships and cooperation between students, parents, school staff and other actors, as well as by offering various types of targeted interventions or prevention programs. Conclusions: School counselors’ work consists largely of remedial actions. It is unfortunate since health promotion and prevention work at different levels in the system is important to reduce school attendance problems. The cooperative role of school counselors and their system-oriented thinking contributes to relationship building, and a holistic view of school attendance and school attendance problems.

Sjögren, Linnéa January 2010 (has links)

Bullying can have serious consequences on everyone involved. Consequently it is important that school counselors are able to intervene. Thereby they need an unambiguous definition and knowledge about bullying that has been produced from research so they do not make mistakes that could lead to further damaging of the students. Thus the aim of this study was to examine how school counselors define bullying compared to the views held by scientists and students in secondary school. Through a review of previously done research the definitions of scientists and schoolchildren was summarized. To establish the school counselors’ definitions a qualitative interview based method was used. Data was collected by semi-structured interviews using an interview guide with open-ended questions. The interviews were transcribed and analyzed by the method of phenomenological concentration of its meaning. By the theory of logic-in-use and reconstructed logic the definitions of school counselors’, pupils and researchers was compared. Results showed that school counselors hold similar definitions to scientists and children but differ in some aspects. The results also indicate that the school counselors mainly have created their definitions through former experiences and knowledge and not through science and they also seem to experience difficulties in identifying bullying situations.

: Skolkuratorers erfarenheter av samverkan med andra professioner inom elevhälsan / "There´s no clarity in exactly what we should do..." : School counselors´experience of collaboration with other professions in the student health team

Karlsson, Sofia January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this study has been to examine and analyze school counselors’ experience of collaboration with other professions in the student health team and the preconditions for their work. The study is based on qualitative semi-structured interviews with six elementary-, and two high school student counselors in a medium-sized town in Sweden. The theoretical approach being used is: role theory, theory of professions and theory about collaboration. The study´s result shows that the school counselors’ experience an unclarity in their job assignments and their role is often described as diffuse and vauge. Furthermore, the result also shows that personality, different perspectives, education, lack of time, resources and confidentiality is affecting their possibility to execute an independent professional social work in the student health team. This study also shows that the school counselors valuate collaboration. A opportunity that sometimes is being obstructed through the different perspectives as compared to the other professions in the student health team, and therefore affects their experience of collaboration.

Skola och heder : Skolkuratorers handlingsutrymme i ärenden gällande hedersrelaterat våld och förtryck / School and honor : School counselors’ room for maneuver in cases concerninghonor-related violence and oppression

Skanelid, Valmire, Ekberg, Alexsandra January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate how school counselors perceive their competence and knowledge regarding honor-related violence and whether it in turn affects their ability and opportunities to draw attention to these young people. We also want to find out how school counselors, based on their knowledge, deal with suspicions of honor-related violence and oppression. The study's overall issues concern different forms of knowledge that school counselors use when it comes to work with honor issues and how school counselors act when there is a suspicion that a student is exposed to honor-related violence and oppression. We have used a qualitative method with semi-structured interviews with six school curators from two different municipalities in southern Sweden. We thematized these interviews, and then analyzed them using scope for action as theory and previous research. The study clearly shows that honor issues are considered a challenging and complex subject and the results show large differences in school curators' own views on their knowledge, how to acquire their knowledge and what the collaboration with the social services looks like.

School counselor’s counselling : "We travel together. I neither go ahead or push from behind, I go by your side"

Nowak, Adam January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of the study has been to research how school counsellor’s run counselling sessions with students starting in elementary school up to high school in Stockholm. A qualitative approach has been applied in the research, through semi-structured interviews with active school counsellor’s. Previous research shows that school counsellors have a free hand when it comes to the design of the sessions. However, there are several common methods and approaches that are used. The study presents methods and theories that are universal to school counsellor’s in their work. What emerges from the study is that school counsellor’s have a wide scope of action, making everyday different. Furthermore, there is a clear pattern for how school counsellor’s choose to work with students during counselling. Most common for school counsellor’s of this studie is the way they are applaying different kinds of methods such as emotional cards, CBT and scale questions that’s adapt for each sitaution and student. The study also shows what is considered important for the sessions. Most common for the school counsellor’s is to be a good listener, creating an strong relationship to the student with an aim of making the student express themselfes. Lastly it presents the challenges that exist around the school counsellor's work role. Most significant is for the school counselers to find an healthy balance between the organisations policy and the desire to help each one of the students.

Emotionellt arbete hos skolkuratorer : En studie om emotionellt lönearbete

Öberg, Gusten January 2022 (has links)
