Studie sanace vybrané části stokové sítě / Study of rehabilitation of selected part of sewer network

Dvořák, Pavel January 2020 (has links)
The topic of this thesis is to create a study of the rehabilitation of the sewer network. The sewer system under assessment is located in city Znojmo, specifically Znojmo – city. In this case, rehabilitation is proposed in order to improve the functional operational properties of the sewer network and extend its service life. The work was divided into two basic parts, namely the Accompanying and Summary Technical Report. Three variants of solution were proposed. The first two variants are made as trenchless using a sanitation sleeve in the first one and a short sanitation sleeve in combination with a sanitation sleeve in the second. The third variant is made as an open excavation recovery. A description of the rehabilitation technology was carried out and the facts that each individual Option or what the three Option would bring up were defined. These three variants of the solution are assessed in terms of economic, technical and environmental impact.

Hälsorelaterad livskvalitet efter fetmakirurgi : En litteraturstudie

Boström Drake, Ann-Kristin, Huayna Vega, Ricardo January 2023 (has links)
Background: Obesity is a serious public health problem as it increases the risk of secondary diseases. Patients with obesity have been shown to have lower average health-related quality of life (HRQoL) compared to the general population. Aim: of this literature review was to describe health-related quality of life among people who have undergone bariatric surgery. Methods: Literature review of eight quantitative intervention studies with follow-ups between 9 months to 10 years. Literature search took place in the databases PuBMed and Cinahl. Analysis of the studies was done by summarizing the studies based on the reported result of the SF-36 questionnaire for physical and mental health and its eight dimensions. Results: All studies indicate that physical health increases on average after bariatric surgery. All but one study indicate that the mental health index increases, on average, after bariatric surgery. Studies that extend over several follow-up periods show that the initial increase in mental health decreases over time and the effect is highest 1–2 years after bariatric surgery. Conclusion: The results indicate that bariatric surgery initially leads to an improvement in physical and mental HRQoL with a clear peak after 1–2 years. Studies with high participation and follow-up over time are too few to draw conclusions about the effect of bariatric surgery on HRQoL in the longer term. Training of healthcare professionals and follow-up programs can contribute to increased follow-up participation, and reduce the risk of non-response.

Comparing Outcomes of Laparoscopic Adjustable Banding and Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy Bariatric Surgery

Baffoe, Seth Kojo Ananse 01 January 2017 (has links)
Bariatric surgery is an effective procedure type for morbidly obese patients when all else fails. Because obesity is a chronic disease, prolonged assessment and understanding of the credibility of procedure types and their effects on bariatric surgery outcomes are essential, yet current evidence shows decreasing utilization of one of the dominant procedure types. To better compare outcomes of procedure type, this research was designed to control for volume, hospital size, age, gender, season, month, year, and ethnicity. The goal of the study was to compare the outcomes of laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) bariatric surgery using the epidemiologic triad model. This study was a retrospective cross-sectional review of Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) from 2009 to 2014. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression were conducted to analyze the data. This study was based on a secondary analysis previously collected from NIS data. A convenience sample of 73,086 patients who underwent bariatric surgery using ICD-9 diagnosis and procedure codes was used. Multiple logistic regression analysis indicated that LAGB (odds ratio [OR] =.043) and LSG (OR =.030) were positively associated with in-hospital mortality. Similarly, LAGB (OR =.041) and LSG (OR =.425) were positively correlated to length of stay (LOS). Finally, LAGB (OR = .461) and LSG (OR = .480) was positively related to reoperation. LAGB, when compared to LSG for LOS, had a substantial advantage over biliopancreatic diversion. The LOS findings may contribute to patients' value proposition, including cost reduction for third party insurance payers and for the community.

Brev från den autonoma musikens värld : Den diskursiva konstruktionen av musikalisk autonomi i den samtida klassiska CD-skivan / Letters from the World of Autonomous Music : The discursive construction of musical autonomy in the contemporary classical record-sleeve

Pontara, Tobias January 2007 (has links)
<p>The purpose of the present thesis is to demonstrate in detail and by concrete example the construction of music as autonomous. It studies how the basic categories constituting the discourse of musical autonomy get reproduced in commercialized and mass-produced and at the same time institutionally authorized texts. The texts under examination consist of a number of sleeve-notes all concerned with the symphonies of Johannes Brahms.</p><p>In the first two chapters the purposes as well as the theoretical framework and the methodological procedures of the study are presented. The third chapter provides an historical account of the discourse of musical autonomy. In the fourth chapter the basic categories of this discourse are identified. Each of these categories is discussed at length and their implications clarified. The fifth chapter comprises a text- and discourse analysis that purports to elucidate the internal structure of the texts as well as the relation between text and context. The sixth chapter seeks to determine the extent to which the texts can be seen as structured in accordance with the central categories of musical autonomy. The chapter argues that the texts under examination must indeed be understood as representing the symphonies of Johannes Brahms as autonomous and self-sufficient objects. The seventh and last chapter is concerned with the complex relation between power, knowledge and the constitution of subjectivity in the discourse of musical autonomy. The chapter identifies and discusses some of the operations of power relating to the constitution of the listening subject and to the disciplining of the human body, operations inextricably tied to the production and communication of knowledge within the discourse of musical autonomy.</p><p>Thus, the real subject of this thesis is the discourse of musical autonomy itself. Its contribution to the ongoing discussion of musical autonomy lies at the level of exemplification: it picks out one of the places where this discourse gets reproduced and demonstrates in detail how that reproduction comes about. But it goes further than that in its attempt to highlight the power relations lying at the heart of the representation and communication of apparently autonomous musical works.</p>

Design and optimization of broadband planar baluns and dipole antennas

Melais, Sergio E. 01 January 2005 (has links)
The effective output balancing capability of this balun is proven by the close agreement between the measured and simulated results. Diode detectors are nonlinear devices used for extraction of DC from free space transmission, achieving RF to DC conversion. Detectors are of popular use today in RF-ID tags, virtual batteries, power scavenging, and many other portable applications. The dominating factor on the performance for this device is responsivity (mV/mW), which depends on the input matching, and in the relation of power level to input impedance. Here, an accurate comparison between model measured detectors has been accomplished, and a sensitivity study has been applied to the input impedance to represent variations in responsivity due to input mismatch. At last an End-Loaded Planar Open-Sleeve Dipole (ELPOSD) is realized resulting on a printed dipole structure offering broadband response.

Asbestos Exposure in the Research Laboratory

Garcia, Ediberto D. 01 January 2013 (has links)
Introduction: Asbestos has been employed in a myriad of industrial applications for more than a century. Of the 181 Mt of asbestos produced worldwide, over 31 Mt was consumed in the U.S. The production and consumption of this mineral eventually was found to cause asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma. While the brunt of the human exposure to asbestos occurred in insulation work, many more workers in other jobs were expose to asbestos fibers. Very little is known about the potential exposure to asbestos in research labs. Goal: In order to investigate potential research lab work exposures, we simulated lab work with various asbestos-containing items commonly found in research laboratories: 6 wire gauze pads, 3 gloves, 3 beaker tongs, and 3 Transite boards. All samples were analyzed by Phase Contrast Microscopy and, when appropriate, by Transmission Electron Microscopy and Polarized Light Microscopy. Results: All tested items were confirmed by bulk sampling to have asbestos fibers in their composition. Exposures from the 7 wire gauze pads were significantly lower than the PEL and the excursion limit, the highest exposure concentration measuring 0.029 f/cc. For the 3 beaker tongs with asbestos sleeves, exposure was below the PEL for 2 of the 3, with one resulting in an exposure of 0.160 f/cc (8-h TWA = 0.01 f/cc). For the Transite boards had the highest exposures of all tested items, with a maximum concentration of 0.320 f/cc (8-h TWA = 0.02 f/cc). Conclusion: Asbestos exposure in our simulated research lab work was significantly lower than any of the historical exposures associated with asbestos-related disease including cancer.

Testing and Evaluation of Confined Polymer Concrete Pile with Carbon Fiber Sleeve

Toufigh, Vahid January 2013 (has links)
The goal of this research is to investigate the behavior of polymer concrete confined with a carbon fiber sleeve used as a pile foundation. To evaluate the behavior of a confined polymer concrete pile in this research, four steps was considered. The first step of this investigation considered the mix design of polymer concrete, polymer concrete is a new material which is a combination of epoxy resin and aggregate. Instead of using a traditional mix of cement and water to make concrete, epoxy resin is used. Three dissimilar varieties of aggregate are mixed with different ratios in order to reach the maximum bulk density to obtain the maximum strength. After discovering the optimum ratio which gives the maximum bulk density, several samples of the aggregate are mixed with different ratios of epoxy resin. Next, the samples are investigated in a compression test to observe which ratios have the maximum strength and this ratio is used for a polymer concrete mix design to create a pile foundation. The pile is a built using a cast in place method and confined with a sleeve of carbon fiber. The second part of this investigation determined the structural mechanical properties of confined polymer concrete pile material. The unconfined and confined polymer concrete was tested in compression to determine compressive strength and stress-strain behavior. Similar tests were conducted on unconfined and confined cement concrete for comparison between these materials. Additional tension tests were conducted on unconfined polymer concrete. Then, a carbon fiber sleeve was tested in compression test to determine tensile strength and tension stress-strain behavior. After these tests, the confined polymer concrete is modeled in the computer program MATTCAD which is used to calculate the theoretical bending moment capacity and load-displacement curve. Finally, the confined polymer concrete is tested with the MTS 311 Load Frame in three point load flexure test to determine the experimentally bending moment capacity, load-displacement curve and compare with theoretical results. Confined polymer concrete was tested in one and two way cyclic loading to observe the ductility behavior of this material as laterally loaded piles and compared with cement concrete results in cyclic loading. The third part of this investigation determined the geotechnical mechanical properties of confined polymer concrete pile material. Cyclic Multi Degree of Freedom (CYMDOF) device was used to determine interface reaction and friction angle between confined polymer concrete and soil with interface shear test theory method. Furthermore, the same device was used to determine the friction angle of soil with direct shear test theory, and compare the friction angle results together. The last part of this investigation considered the behavior of different sized confined polymer concrete pile in different types of soil. A confined polymer concrete pile was modeled into PLAXIS and OPENSEES PL computer software to analysis pile in axial load and lateral load respectively. Furthermore, a cement concrete pile was modeled with similar software and conditions to compare these two materials.
