Uma proposta de controle de paralelismo de inversores com a rede elétrica utilizando-se a técnica de realimentação de fase

Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais / The purpose of this work is to present an active and reactive power flow controller applied to inverter paralelism with the stiff AC system. An additional loop is implemented into a conventional control loop based on the characteristic curves of active power versus frequency and reactive power versus voltage. This loop uses the active power variation as feedback to generate the load angle of the voltage reference of the inverter, when it is connected in parallel with the electric network. As a consequence, the active and reactive transitory power oscillations are atenuated, without producing undesirable colateral effects as significative voltage and reactive power variations presented in the utilization of PSS (Power System Stabilizer), another technique used to improve the system damping, [Martins, M. P., 2004]. A dynamic model of the system based on the small signal analysis is presented. The root locus graphics, showing the system poles under parametric variations are also presented, allowing the analysis of the system stability. The simulation results and the experimental ones using a laboratory prototype with and without the additional loop are showed, which validate the obtained small signal model. / Este trabalho apresenta um controlador de fluxos de potência ativa e reativa aplicado ao paralelismo de um inversor com a rede elétrica. Uma malha adicional de controle é inserida a um controlador convencional, o qual é baseado nas curvas características de potência ativa versus freqüência e potência reativa versus tensão. Essa malha utiliza a realimentação da própria variação da potência ativa para a geração do ângulo de carga da tensão de referência do inversor, quando o mesmo é conectado em paralelo com a rede elétrica. Como resultado as oscilações transitórias das potências ativa e reativa são melhor atenuadas, sem produzir efeitos colaterais indesejáveis tais como as variações de tensão e potência reativa presentes na utilização do PSS (Power System Stabilizer Estabilizador de Sistemas de Potência), outra técnica usada para melhorar o amortecimento do sistema, [Martins, M. P., 2004]. Um modelo dinâmico do sistema baseado na análise para pequenos sinais é apresentado. Gráficos do lugar das raízes, mostrando os pólos do sistema diante de variações paramétricas também são apresentados, permitindo a análise de estabilidade do sistema. Resultados de simulação e resultados experimentais utilizando-se um protótipo de laboratório, com e sem a malha de realimentação adicional são mostrados, os quais validam o modelo para pequenos sinais obtido. / Doutor em Ciências

Modeling and Analysis of a Dc Power Distribution System in 21st Century Airlifters

A DC power distribution system (PDS) of a transport aircraft was modeled and analyzed using MATLAB/Simulink software. The multi-level modeling concept was used as a modeling approach, which assumes modeling subsystem of the PDS at three different levels of complexity. The subsystem models were implemented in Simulink and combined into the whole PDS model according to certain interconnection rules. Effective modeling of different scenarios of operation was achieved by mixing subsystem models of different levels in one PDS model. Linearized models were obtained from the nonlinear PDS model for stability analysis and control design. The PDS model was used to examine the system stability and the DC bus power quality under bidirectional power flow conditions. Small-signal analysis techniques were employed to study stability issues resulting from subsystem interactions. The DC bus stability diagram was proposed for predicting stability of the PDS with different types of loads without performing an actual stability test based on regular stability analysis tools. Certain PDS configurations and operational scenarios leading to instability were identified. An analysis of energy transfer in the PDS showed that a large energy storage capacitor in the input filter of a flight control actuator is effective for reduction of the DC bus voltage disturbances produced by regenerative action of the actuator. However, energy storage capacitors do not provide energy savings in the PDS and do not increase its overall efficiency. / Master of Science

Centralized Control of Power System Stabilizers

This study takes advantage of wide area measurements to propose a centralized nonlinear controller that acts on power system stabilizers, to cooperatively increase the damping of problematic small signal oscillations all over the system. The structure based on decision trees results in a simple, efficient, and dependable methodology that imposes much less computational burden than other nonlinear design approaches, making it a promising candidate for actual implementation by utilities and system operators. Details are given to utilize existing stabilizers while causing minimum changes to the equipment, and warranting improvement or at least no detriment of current system behavior. This enables power system stabilizers to overcome their inherent limitation to act only on the basis of local measurements to damp a single target frequency. This study demonstrates the implications of this new input on mathematical models, and the control functionality that is made available by its incorporation to conventional stabilizers. In preparation of the case of study, a heuristic dynamic reduction methodology is introduced that preserves a physical equivalent model, and that can be interpreted by any commercial software package. The steps of this method are general, versatile, and of easy adaptation to any particular power system model, with the aggregated value of producing a physical model as final result, that makes the approach appealing for industry. The accuracy of the resulting reduced network has been demonstrated with the model of the Central American System. / Ph. D.

Apesar do proeminente campo de aplicação destes materiais, muitos aspectos associados à sua ciência básica são ainda pouco compreendidos. Nesse cenário destaca-se o fenômeno de Magnetoresistência Orgânica (OMAR, da sigla em inglês). Tal fenômeno encontra-se associado a variações significativas da condutividade elétrica de dispositivos orgânicos induzidas por pequenos campos magnéticos externos em temperatura ambiente e tem sido observado em diversificados materiais poliméricos e moleculares. No presente trabalho avaliou-se o fenômeno de OMAR apresentado por um Diodo Emissor de Luz baseado na molécula de Alq3. Medidas de Espectroscopia de Impedância Elétrica na presença de um Campo Magnético estático externo (EIE-CM) foram realizadas sobre o referido dispositivo para diferentes temperaturas. Métodos diferenciados de aquisição e manipulação de dados foram empregados a fim de remover a dependência temporal dos sinais tipicamente observados. Os seguintes Efeitos de Campo Magnético (MFE, da sigla em inglês) foram observados sobre a resposta elétrica do dispositivo: (i) redução de cerca de 1% na resistência, efeito praticamente constante para todo o espectro de frequência e; (ii) variações significativas na capacitância, com intensificação do efeito de Capacitância Negativa em baixas frequências. Como suporte para a interpretação dos resultados experimentais foram realizadas simulações empregando-se duas abordagens: Circuitos Equivalentes e Análise de perturbações de pequenos sinais (em inglês, Small Signal Analysis ) via soluções numéricas das equações de transporte de Boltzmann numa aproximação por Drift-Diffusion empregando-se dispositivos simplificados. As análises sugerem que os MFE evidenciados podem estar associados a um aumento da mobilidade efetiva dos portadores de carga e a uma redução na taxa de recombinação bimolecular no dispositivo. Os resultados foram interpretados em termos dos modelos atualmente aceitos para o fenômeno de OMAR. Esta tese também apresenta um estudo de processos de geração e transferência de carga em corantes Cianinas, materiais promissores para aplicações em células solares com absorção no infravermelho. Técnicas de Ressonância de Spin Eletrônico induzida por Luz foram empregadas em blendas destes corantes com o polímero MEH-PPV e com o fulereno (C60) a fim de avaliar, respectivamente, o caráter aceitador e doador de elétrons das Cianinas. / Materials and devices based on organic compounds play an important role in various technological applications, mainly due to their interesting electrical-magneto-optical properties combined with their unique mechanical properties, easy processing, versatility of synthesis and relatively low cost. Despite the prominent application field of these materials many aspects associated with their basic science are still not well understood. In this context the Organic Magnetoresistance phenomenon (OMAR) deserves to be highlighted. This phenomenon is associated with significant changes in the electrical conductivity of organic devices induced by the presence of small external magnetic fields at room temperature, being observed in various polymeric and molecular materials. In this study we have investigated the OMAR phenomenon in Alq3-based OLEDs. Electrical impedance spectroscopy technique in the presence of an external static magnetic field (EIS-MF) was employed in the experiments; distinct temperatures were considered. Differentiated methods of acquisition and data manipulation were employed to remove the typically observed signal time dependence. The following magnetic field effects (MFE) were observed on the electrical response of the device: (i) a constant reduction of around 1% in the resistance over the entire frequency spectrum and; (ii) significant changes in the capacitance followed by an intensification of the negative capacitance effect at low frequencies. Simulations employing two different approaches were carried out for the interpretation of the experimental results: (i) Equivalent Circuits and (ii) Small Signal Analysis via numerical solutions of the Boltzmann transport equations by Drift-Diffusion approach. The results suggest that the observed MFE can be associated with an increase in the effective mobility of the charge carriers and a reduction in the bimolecular recombination rate in the device. The results were interpreted in terms of the currently accepted models for the OMAR phenomenon. This thesis also presents a study about generation and charge transfer processes in cyanine dyes (near infrared absorbing compounds) which are promising materials for applications in solar cells. Light induced Electron Spin Resonance (L-ESR) technique was employed to study the presence/formation of paramagnetic centers in blends of these dyes with MEH-PPV polymer and fullerene (C60) to evaluate, respectively, the electron acceptor and donor character of cyanine dyes. / FAPESP: 2011/21830-6 / CNPq: 204432/2013-8
