The work-family conflict experienced by South African women of different race groups : a phenomenological study

Tengimfene, Nikelwa F. 03 1900 (has links)
The family roles and responsibilities are still allocated along the gender lines. Women assume primary child care and household roles despite working fulltime. They suffer from work-family conflict as they battle with these competing demands. A phenomenological approach was adopted for this study. The existing literature was used in defining work-family conflict, looking at different work-family theories; development of gendered defined roles, motherhood and demands brought on by women working fulltime. The semi-structured interview was used for data collection. The themes which emerged showed that women experience strong emotions associated with raising children whilst working. There is compromise on quality time dedicated in each role. Women assume sole custodian over their children’s upbringing. Women enter into a second shift after work. Having a career and children, is made easier through adoption of strong coping strategies and mechanisms. The conclusions and recommendations were made for future a research and organisational practices. / Industrial and Organisational Psychology / Thesis (M.A. (Industrial and Organisational Psycology))

La société anonyme unipersonnelle en droit OHADA : étude critique / The one-person limited company under the OHADA LAW : A Critical Study

N'Takpé, Adjoua Marie-Hortense 30 June 2016 (has links)
The one-person limited company under the OHADA LAW has seen itslegal regime being defined with reference to the regime of the multi-persons limited company, with minimum adaptations. In fact the one-person character of the Limited company gives it a certain peculiarity that renders inappropriate the pure and simple transportation of rules of the multi-person limited company model. Besides the difficulty of implementation that it oftenentails, the technique of referring leaves unresolved many questions raised by the one-personlimited company model. The legal regime of the one-person limited company as a whole thatarises is insufficiently adapted to the unique shareholder. An adaptation of the one-person limited company legal regime of the OHADA LAWto the particularity of the one-person thus becomes necessary. It has to be undertaken underthe simplification of rules, on the one hand with regards to the company, through rules relatedto its constitution and its evolution, on the other hand, with respect to the actors that are thesole shareholders, administrative and control bodies.

From Energy Consumers to Renewable Energies Producers

VENUTA, MARIA LUISA 13 July 2007 (has links)
Can internet logic scheme be used as a basis to describe public policies evolution on renewable energies production and sharing in urban areas all over the world? The research project analyses the two networks (internet and energetic grids) architectures in actual and future urban areas. This analysis is connected with present and future forecasts energy productions from traditional fuels and from renewable sources. Theoretical analysis is conducted following a double conceptual pathway: - societal networks (Manuel Castells theory) and urban areas evolution (Saskia Sassen and Mike Davis) in order to picture the evolution of cities and towns in modern economies and in developing countries (Chapters 2 and 5); - Material and Energy Flow Analysis (approach by Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy) applied to renewable energy (Chapters 3 and 4) In Chapter 6 case studies are exposed on the deep cleavage between two different worlds: innovative, rich towns on a side and the landfills cities, slums on the other side. In the last part hypothesis and thesis are put together and open questions are explained (Chapter 7).

Effets des incertitudes et de la variabilité spatiale des propriétés des sols et des structures sur le dimensionnement des semelles filantes et des conduites enterrées / Effects of uncertainties and spatial variation of soil and structure properties on geotechnical design : cases of continuous spread footings and buried pipes

Imanzadeh, Saber 15 February 2013 (has links)
Soil exhibits spatial heterogeneities resulting from the history of its deposition and aggregation processes that occur in different physical and chemical environments. This inherent or natural variability can be very important in the case of the superficial geotechnical works inducing differential settlements, whose consequences on structural response can be harmful: local failures, cracking in beams or walls, leakage in sewers. Natural variability of soil and uncertainty related to imperfect knowledge in soil properties and/or of concrete or steel of the structure, are the major source of uncertainty in the choice of the design parameters. In this thesis the probabilistic methods in geotechnical engineering, the analytical Winkler model and the coupling of the finite element method with geostatistical approaches were successively used to model the behavior of shallow foundations and buried pipe networks when soil and structure uncertainties are considered in their design.
