Segerfalk, Jenny, Juhlin, Paula January 2019 (has links)
Sports in Sweden has become increasingly commercialized in order to compete with other associations and are thereby in need of capital. Companies often have the capital that the sport clubs are in need of and can through using the sports as a platform reach out to new or broader target groups. The purpose of this study is to see what the companies main interests are in sponsorship cooperation and whether there are tensions that lead to conflicts of interest. Our empirical material was collected using semi-structured interviews with six different respondents. We interviewed three different sports clubs and three corporations that are sponsoring these sports clubs. We have also used two descriptive theories, new institutional theory and the actor perspectivethat will help us understand what interest and tensions may possibly arise in a sponsorship collaboration between a company and sports clubs. The result we found showed that the sport clubs youth section was a major motivational factor for companies to sponsor sport clubs. Through them, they can reach a large target group of people and in this way strengthened their brand. The level of commitment regarding the sport clubs societal involvement are crucial for companies when considering sponsorship, it creates legitimacy for the companies and a better platform to strengthen their brand. The greatest interest of the sport clubs is to increase the quality of youth activities. The conclusions drawn are that the sport clubs must develop their knowledge about how they can communicate with the companies in order to strengthen their position in negotiations. If they can connect their business to the sustainability goals many companies need to achieve, they have come a long way. Those tensions that exist in contractnegotiations, managing of where the capital is being placed and how negative publicity amongst the companies or the sport club are handled to avoid leading to conflict, they should communicate and follow the agreement that has been written. However, the position of power can easily shift during critical times, which in turn affects the actors position in negotiations.

Project management maturity of football sports club in South Africa - the case of PSL football clubs

Maponya, Vincent Mahlatse 20 August 2012 (has links)
Organizations are seen as custodians of portfolio of projects and are increasingly delivering their businesses through multiple complex programs. To be successful in delivering their businesses, these organizations are required to build a project management capability within their structures. Projects today have become far more than solving of technical problems; they have become more of venues for mastering business and change. Project maturity is used as an indication of or a measurement of the organisation’s ability to use projects for different purposes. An organisational Project Management Maturity Assessment is an effective method for establishing a baseline and provides an impetus for organisational change. Project Management Maturity Models are regarded as effective tools for benchmarking and implementing improvements in organisational performance. In this Dissertation, a study in applying project management maturity model to review, assess, and analyze the degree of organizational project management maturity of one of the Professional Soccer clubs participating in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) in South Africa is presented. The project management practices and capabilities of the PSL Soccer clubs are reflected. The purpose of this paper is to not only demonstrate the methodology and results of the assessment, but to also report on the outcome of the study and propose the necessary recommendations for improvement. The research was strictly focused on those Professional Soccer clubs which are participating in the South African PSL. For confidentiality purposes, the club in this dissertation is referred to as “The Club”. There has been no similar study that has been carried out in this field before. Therefore, this study aims to break new grounds in conducting a research of this kind in this specific sports field. The main research question posed in this study is: What is the level of organizational project management maturity of the South African PSL Soccer clubs? This research question is supported by five other sub-questions which are answered in a research chapter dealing with the synthesis and analysis of the research results. These research questions were motivated by the following reasons: Organizations are changing drastically in their fundamental ways of conducting business. This change is happening within a short period of time and at an accelerated pace. This change occurs both structurally, operationally, and culturally in response to factors such as globalization, new technology, competition, and the world economy that is various challenges in the marketplace. Organizations are also under pressure to improve on their performance in order to maintain high levels of competitiveness and continue to be successful in the global marketplace and therefore, consistent improvement on their projects or program delivery is required in order to attain competitive advantage and sustained growth. Therefore, considering the reasons presented above, the researcher found it necessary to evaluate the current levels of project management maturity in the PSL Soccer clubs. In order to achieve the study objectives two models were used as tools to assess the degree of The Club’s project management maturity and further highlighted a recommended path for improvement. Firstly, Organisational Project Management Maturity (OPM3) model, which is a standard developed under the stewardship of Project Management Institute (PMI), was used as the main model. Secondly, the Integrated Management Systems Incorporated’s (IMSI) project management assessment model was also used as a supporting model.

Ungdomsledare i idrottsföreningar : Rekrytering, utbildning och stöd / Youth leaders in sports clubs : Recruitment, education and support

Lodin, Jenny, Rehn, Victoria, Tall, Emma January 2014 (has links)
Problem: Today it is common for sports clubs to recruit parents of different leadership roles within child and youth activities. For many parents, it means that they get their first leadership role. Some parents feel comfortable right away in their role as leaders while others do not. Since almost all the children and youth in Sweden have contact with the sport, it provides sports leaders ample opportunity to educate and influence young people. This leads to the importance of sports clubs how they work with recruitment, education and support for their youth. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine the sports movement's work with leadership support to the youths. More specifically, it is about how the width and elite clubs at the local level are dealing with local questions about recruitement, education and support of leaders in youth sport.    Method: The empirical data in the study was obtained through interviews and web surveys. The surveys were used to strength up the interviews and thus apply the study, both a qualitative and a quantitative survey. Results: Our results demonstrate that sports clubs in the study do not work especially actively recruiting youth. The study also shows that sports clubs are positive to education, but do not demand that the youth leaders must attend an education. However, encourage sports clubs youth leaders to attend education by standing for the cost. Most of the youth leaders in sports clubs are nonprofit and receive support in form of education.

Hur ideella idrottsföreningar närmar sig företagsliknande styrformer : En kvalitativ studie gällande racketsportföreningar i Örebro län

Sandberg, Niklas, Persson, Marie January 2012 (has links)
The voluntary sports clubs have an important position in our society as they contribute to the development of sports talent, individuals and group dynamics. In Sweden there is a general trend that the voluntary involvement decreasing causing that sports clubs and organizations find it difficult to recruit new volunteers. This causes that the voluntary sport clubs have to change from their voluntary run organization and instead start to use the same kind of organization to run and control the activities as small business companies. The purpose of this study is to increase the understanding of how voluntary sports clubs are experiencing that they are approaching business-like forms. It is also to provide guidelines on how voluntary run sports clubs will work to the voluntary contributions also in the future, and to locate which factors that most contribute to the approaching business- like forms. This study is limited to the individual sports tennis, badminton and table tennis and to the area of Örebro County, Sweden. Three qualitative interviews were conducted with persons who have been active and who have good knowledge of their respective club activities. The empirical data were analyzed using a self-created analysis model. The conclusion of the study is clubs included in this study experience that they are approaching more business-like forms primarily due to that they have an increased focus on financial, and that hey have increased the number of employees. Their experiences depend largely on number of members, economical turnover and the present organization. This principal change in running the sports club will most likely lead to that the volume voluntary efforts in the studied sports clubs will be reduced because they experience that less are willing to work without remuneration in business-like organizations. The most important factors to work with to maintain the voluntary efforts are according to the finding in this study is to focus on creating a unity, sharing commitments, common activities for the members, active discussions about ethical values with the organization and the sport itself, and to develop the work in the board. The most important factors affecting the sports clubs when approaching more business-like philosophy and forms or not depends on whether they have employees, remunerated coaches and on the their future plans of expanding the activities and financial turnover. Additional factors are whether the club has access to their own sport facility or not, if the members prefer individualization, and if the club has a strong brand and an active board.
