Thank you. / The auteur theory argues for the possibility that films produced within the highly regimented American studio system of the 1930's and 40's could be considered art, and their makers, auteurs (authors). This new theory, that both argued for the presence of a singular guiding intentionality behind a film, and for the critical canonization of films made in classic Hollywood changed the critical imagination of future film scholars. When Thomas Schatz took on the theory in his book, The Genius of the System, he argued that the collaborative nature of filmmaking in general and Hollywood filmmaking in particular complicated the existing theory, at least as it had been interpreted in America. Schatz's exhaustive study seeks to account for the masterworks of classical Hollywood through a systematic examination of the studio system, which he believed played a fundamental role in the films' success. While Schatz rails against some of the tenets of the auteur theory he simultaneously co-opts its critical system, and seems to make the argument for the studio as auteur. The idea that popular narrative entertainment produced within a highly regimented system can be taken as serious achievement, and that the large organization behind it can act as auteur, leads to the implied conclusion that a television network can function as an auteur as well. The television network is built on a studio-based production system much like classic Hollywood, and its directors of original programming provide the same guiding intentionality as the studio production chiefs of the past. To provide this hypothesis two case studies are performed on television networks, its products and its personnel. Section one discusses HBO as a prime example of a television auteur as its original programs are distinct and seem endemic to the networks overall style of presentation. Section two discusses FX as an example of a cable competitor who employs some of the same strategies as HBO, but with different programming executive who inflect the series with a distinct coherency and style of its own. / 2031-01-02

Esta dissertação se propõe a investigar a função do ator e seu modelo de interpretação para o cinema, partindo de apropriações da pesquisa teatral. A partir do sistema de atuação criado por Konstantin Stanislavski, estabeleço uma trajetória de apropriações que se inicia concomitantemente ao desenvolvimento da linguagem cinematográfica, contemplando primeiramente a pesquisa dos cineastas russos Lev Kuleshov, Sergei Eisenstein e Vsevolod Pudovkin. Em um segundo momento, analiso como as ideias de Stanislavski chegaram nos Estados Unidos, influenciando tanto o teatro quanto o cinema americanos. A criação do Actors Studio e a formulação do \"Método\" americano de interpretação são abordadas sobretudo a partir das ideias de Elia Kazan e Lee Strasberg. Por fim, no Brasil, discorro sobre o projeto Prêt-à-Porter (1998 - 2011), criado por Antunes Filho, e sua influência na formação de toda uma geração de atores presentes na produção cinematográfica contemporânea. Nesse percurso que vai do teatro ao cinema, em certos momentos numa via de mão dupla, destaco os procedimentos que contribuíram para o processo de criação dos atores, e a forma como influenciaram sua expressão em ambas as áreas da criação artística. / This project aims at investigating the role of the actor and his/her model of acting for the screen, from a theatrical perspective. Starting with the System created by Konstantin Stanislavski, I establish a trajectory of appropriations, contemplating primarily the researches of Soviet filmmakers Lev Kuleshov, Sergei Eisenstein and Vsevolod Pudovkin. Then, I analyze the arrival of Stanislavski\'s ideas at the United States, and how they influenced both American theater and cinema. The creation of the Actors Studio and the formulation of the American Method of acting will be approached mainly through Elia Kazan and Lee Strasberg\'s ideas. Finally, in Brazil, I analyze the project Prêt-à-Porter (1998 - 2011), created by Antunes Filho, which influenced the formation of a whole generation of actors also present in contemporary film production. Thus, I highlight some procedures that highly contributed to the creative process of actors, from the stage to the screen.

Diplomová práce popisuje vývoj softvéru na platformě Visual Studio 2005 Team System (VSTS). Práce klade důraz především na popis funkcionality umožňující efektivní týmovou spolupráci a na popis nových inovativních rysů. Práce nepopisuje pouze pozitivní rysy produktu, identifikuje také základní nedostatky současné verze, na základě zkušeností vývojových týmů používajících VSTS a subjektivních názorech autora.

A presente dissertação, intitulada Estruturas Contingentes e Formas Resguardadas: o tecer como prática artística inserida no cotidiano, propõe a análise do processo de tecitura manual dos objetos que compõem a pesquisa. Ao sistematizar e analisar o processo dos referidos objetos, abordarei as interferências e intercorrências em espaços privados e públicos – experienciados enquanto lugares de atividades cotidianas e do exercício de tecer. Também estarão sob foco as reverberações dessas experiências no atelier e nos modos de exposição. / This dissertation, titled Contingent Structures and Withdrawn Shapes: weaving as an everyday art practice, proposes the analysis of the process of hand weaving the objects that make up the research. By systematizing and analyzing the process of said objects, I will approach interferences and events in private and public spaces - experienced as venues for everyday activities and for the act of weaving. Echoes of these experiences in the studio and in exhibition methods will also be addressed.

The purpose of this multiple case study was to explore strategies that well-established home recording studio owners in a city in the southeastern United States have used to compete in the recording industry. Four home recording studio owners served as participants. Each participant owned and operated a home studio business in the target area for longer than 10 years. Porter's 5 competitive forces model and Christensen's disruptive innovation theory were the conceptual lenses for this study. Interviews, direct observations, and website documents were the 3 data collection sources used to achieve methodological triangulation. The data were analyzed using Yin's 5-step thematic approach to qualitative data analysis: compiling, disassembling, reassembling, interpreting, and concluding. Four themes emerged from the analysis of the data: doing business and making money with friends, keeping the family safe and the studio secure, decoupling the clock from the creative process, and linking strategy to personal goals. The findings of this study may contribute to positive social change by economically empowering aspiring entrepreneurs to become small business owners and create new jobs that help strengthen their local economies.

In our days there are a lot of Rapid Application Development (RAD) tools, which allow us to create business and mission-critical applications for enterprise. Each of them has certain merits and demerits, but today one of the most powerful RAD tools is Omnis Studio. This is a new technology in Lithuania and not known very much in the world, but in the future I think that it will become very popular and used. Using Omnis Studio you can create any type of application and deploy it to the internet using unique Omnis web client technology. The Omnis web client lets you embed application into a standard web page and allows anyone to access application using a web browser such IE, Netscape, Mozilla or Safari. With Omnis Studio you can write application much faster, cheaper and higher quality. The main purpose of the project is to analyze Omnis Studio, find how to create user interfaces, witch can control data base (for example: insert data, update, delete, find or filter data). In recent years, Component models have become common for desktop and server-side applications. But it has not obtained such importance in case of embedded real-time systems.  Therefore, there has been a lot of research undergoing for introducing such component models for embedded real-time systems.  This thesis work proposes an alternative approach for doing this, by the generation of proxies.   The idea is to provide an extension to an existing binary component and modify it to adapt to the targeted real-time operating system. Rather than modifying the existing component, a new component is generated, which is called as the proxy component.  This newly generated proxy component provides the same method implementation as the original component and also provides some additional services.  These services enable these components to meet the needs of targeted embedded real-time systems.  In order to achieve this, a Visual Studio 2008 add-in has been created. This add-in is capable of inspecting an existing Smart Device Component and visualizes the Classes, Interfaces and Methods in the original component in its UI.  In addition to this, the add-in also shows the available services to be included in the proxy component.  The UI of the add-in is designed in such a way that, the user is able to select the services, which should be included in the proxy component.  Based on the user’s selection, the add-in generates the proxy component with the additional services.

Detta examensarbete är en förstudie där väl lyssningsanpassade rum har undersökts både objektivt och subjektivt med syftet att kunna identifiera och tolka allmänna akustiska fenomen som uppstår, och upplevs, samt upplysa läsaren om dessa. Rapporten behandlar ljudfysik så som akustik och våglära, ljudteknikerns roll, psykoakustik, kontrollrum och teknisk utrustning. De mätningar och lyssningstest som utförts har alla utgått ifrån den tänka lyssningspositionen som sedan ställts mot specifika krav och rekommendationer från AMS (Audio Measurement Standards) och EBU (European Brodcasting Union). Lyssningstesten har gjorts efter EBU-standard. Även intervjustudier har genomförts med erfarna ljudtekniker. I Slutsats och Diskussion jämförs objektiva mätdata med lyssningstest, där likheter och slutsatser om lyssningen dras. / This thesis is a preliminary study in which high quality listening environments have been investigated both objectively and subjectively with the purpose to identify and interpret general acoustic phenomenon that occurs, and how they are percieved, as well to enlighten the reader about these. The report deals with sound physics such as acoustics, an audio engineer's role, psychoacoustics, control rooms and technical equipment. The measurements and listening tests performed have all been done from the intended listening position which were then set against specific requirements and recommendations from AMS (Audio Measurement Standards) and EBU (European Broadcasting Union). Listening test have been made according to EBU standards. Also interviews were conducted with experienced audio engineers. In Conclusion and Discussion objectively measured data is compared with the listening tests, where similarities and conclusions about listening are drawn.
