Syftet med undersökningen var dels att studera svenska elevers kunskap, självvärdering och informationskällor gällande sex och samlevnad, dels att jämföra med en liknade grekisk studie. Svenska skolan har obligatorisk sex- och samlevnadsundervisning vilken den grekiska skolan inte har. Andra aspekter som undersöktes var hur elevers självvärdering stämmer överens med deras egentliga kunskap. 75 gymnasieelever fick svara på en enkät. Resultatet visar att svenska elever har en högre lägsta nivå i sin självvärdering av sina kunskaper om sex och samlevnad, jämfört med de grekiska eleverna. Enligt eleverna i undersökningen visar den svenska skolans sex- och samlevnadsundervisning större variation när det gäller kvalitet . De svenska eleverna undervärderade sina kunskaper när det kommer till sex- och samlevnadsfrågor enligt den undersökning som vi genomförde. Detta visar på att skolans obligatoriska undervisning har betydelse men att den även kan förbättras.

The purpose of this study is to figure out the constructions and causes of senior high school students’ interlanguage (termed as SSIL) in their English compositions. Five hundred and seventy six compositions written by seniors in senior high schools in the Taipei area, were collected and analyzed in this study. Two major SSIL constructions were derived: Misused Subjects and Ill-formed Expletives. The two constructions are like the two sides of a coin manifesting the contrast between topic-prominent Chinese and subject-prominent English. Two major factors contribute to the construction of SSIL: topicalization and poor awareness of L1 structures. It is suggested that students’ language awareness of their native language, Chinese, should be aroused, and that the creation of a more English conscious environment in real life situation may facilitate the development of SSIL toward the target language, English. key words: interlanguage, topic-prominence, subject-prominence, topicalization, language awareness

The paper outlines the standardization function of the Czech Subject Authority File and explores the role of UDC as a switching language, i.e. as an intermediary between various indexing systems at institutional, national and international level. Subject indexing and classification systems used at the institutional and national level may differ from one another in their levels of specificity, syntactic features (e.g. word order of terms, subject headings versus descriptors), and in the usage of terminology. These differences raise compatibility problems and make any mapping efforts more difficult. The paper explains how such difficulties may be partially overcome by means of the UDC system. The author illustrates the potential application of UDC as a linking element between different subject organization tools used by memory institutions. In this context the author discusses subject indexing systems used in libraries, museums, galleries and archives.

Intute (http://www.intute.ac.uk/) catalogues and describes the best Internet resources for education and research. It is funded by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC), and is primarily aimed at evaluating web resources suitable for undergraduate study. The service also offers Internet research skills tutorials, rss feeds of new resources added to the catalogue, a personalisation service (MyIntute), and a blog highlighting trends in Internet research skills and particularly good or topical subject-based resources. The current Intute catalogue of Internet resources is an aggregation of records from eight subject services previously funded by the JISC as the Resource Discovery Network (RDN). This paper describes the process and challenges of integrating these eight databases into one unified catalogue with one standard metadata schema, whilst continuing to satisfy the needs of different subject communities. The paper also outlines a current project to evaluate and compare the cost-effectiveness of manual and automatic metadata creation.

Att teknik finns på förskolan, det vet vi alla. Men i vilken utsträckning? Vad det är som styr hur mycket de använder sig av teknik i den pedagogiska processen? Och finns det intresse för teknik hos barnen? För att ta reda på just detta har jag valt att göra enkätundersökning, observationer av lokalerna, genomgång av materialet inom förskolan och en undersökning på ett bibliotek. Att barnen gillar och gärna håller på med teknik är lärarna överens om. De flesta av förskolorna använder sig ganska lite av teknik på sina lektioner, men anser ändå att teknik är ett mycket viktigt ämne för barn i förskoleålder. Detta gör det viktigt att belysa hur lite teknik det finns på våra förskolor, trotts att lärare anser det vara viktigt för barnen.
