Uneklint, Oscar January 2016 (has links)
In 2010, at the east coast of Sweden’s sparsely populated North, a new mode of travel was introduced to connect the region via high-speed railway, Botniabanan, and with no regional history questions on the regional effects of this new mode of travel are spurred. This paper addresses such questions in terms of, firstly, comparing the intended and potential regional effects of the railway and, secondly, by comparing the project with other Swedish railroad investments. The results show that, despite reasonably favorable preconditions both theoretically and geographically, the profitability and the function of the project turned out considerably lower than expected and its regional effects are still unclear, pending further investments in neighboring systems. Reasons for optimism, however, can be found in the broadly defined benefits that due to methodological issues were excluded from cost-benefit calculations, as well as in beneficial effects of other contemporary Swedish railroad investments. In the case of contemporary railroad investments varying circumstances and research agendas impede a well-defined conclusion, but high-speed railway connection in contemporary Sweden shows potential.

Nürnbergsprocessen i svensk press : en studie över tre tidningars ledarsidors rapportering av rättegången i Nürnberg / The trials in Nürnberg in swedish press : a study of the master-pages of three newspapers reporting of the trial in Nürnberg

Johansson, Jonas January 2012 (has links)
One of the most well-known trials in history is the one in Nürnberg, Germany, soon after the end of World War II. It is understandable that this caused a lot of discussions and that it was a world known trial which set the standards for a lot of similar occasions later on. The aim of this research is to focus on the opinions about this trial from a perspective of well-known Swedish newspapers. The method is to analyse three big papers with different political views and to see what separated them and what maybe united them. By studying the master-pages of the newspapers a picture is given of how the contemporary time had an understanding for the trial reports, which we in our time have established as facts. From the political views of the newspapers this research found out that the master-pages being analysed lived up to their ideal. One of the sources, “Göteborgs Handels- och sjöfartstidning”, was the most critical newspaper throughout the period of World War II and it was also obvious in this research that they had a very critical position. “Svenska Dagbladet” and “Dagens Nyheter” were more restrained and even in certain occasions defending.

Kraftvärmeverk i glesbygd - en möjlighet?

Ahlberg, Johan, Nelje, Joel January 2012 (has links)
Our purpose in this paper is to examine if there is any profitability for a company with a factory in the timber industry to invest in a combined heat and power, CHP. Based on analysis and the results that the paper generates, we will give Derome AB a suggestion on how it is a profitable investment or not to installing in a CHP. By investing in a CHP plant, you can get a high efficiency, which means that companies can use their resources more effectively. The Swedish wood industry has by-products of production that can be used for combustion in their boiler which is an advantage. The essay is a qualitative study where we have a case company, Derome AB. In this company, we interviewed two employees who have knowledge in the study. They have helped us to provide information and data about their business. We chose to use the pay-off- and the net present value method, NPV, to see if there are profitable advantages for the investment. For investment decisions these two methods are the most common for companies. Pay-off is a simply method to see whether an investment is profitable, while the NPV is a more accurate method. CHP plants produce both electricity and heat for consumption. They have a high efficiency between 80-90%. Previous studies show that Sweden is in a situation where they need to install more CHP to expand the district heating network and to increase electricity production. CHP will according to previous studies also be an important part of Sweden's electricity supply. Swedish timber industry is important for Swedish exports and has nearly 270 thousand employees either directly or indirectly. Wood industry has a great potential for expansion to produce both electricity and heat. The conclusion of our study indicates that there are profitability advantages of investing in a CHP plant in Kinnared. The investment could be seen as an environmental investment and therefore use a low discount rate in NPV. But for Derome AB it can not be seen as an investment profitable when they use a 12% discount rate and 15% in return on investment. The pay-off time for the investment can be seen as profitable by both authors and Derome AB.

Sjöström, Dan January 2012 (has links)

Carlsson, Jonas January 2014 (has links)

Köhler, Helena January 2016 (has links)

Steen, Christian, Mattsson, Sebastian January 2012 (has links)
Inspired by the great arts of scientist and poet Robert J. Oppenheimer, the purpose of this paper is to unveil and highlight the attitudes towards the atomic bomb in Swedish newspapers during the early and most vivid years of the atomic era. By pinpointing and analysing central discourses caused by this paradigm breaking invention, this academic effort reveals the morbid moral of the story caused by loose speculations and the lack of knowledge.
