Capabilities for facilitating product lifecycle management implementation : A case study of a product data management system replacement

Syfte – Syftet med denna studie är att underlätta implementeringen av produktlivscykelhantering (product lifecycle managmenet (PLM)) genom att öka förståelsen för vilka förmågor som krävs av organisationer när de ersätter ett produktlivscykelhanteringssystem (product lifecykle managament system (PLMS)) och vilka aktiviteter som realiserar dessa förmågor. Metod – Studien är en kvalitativ fallstudie och observerade en ersättning av ett PLMS på ett företag inom fordonsindustrin i Sverige. Intervjuer hölls med projektledare, affärsarkitekter, affärsanalytiker, utvecklare och användare, alla involverade i eller hade kunskap om den studerade systemersättningen. Totalt genomfördes 21 intervjuer och resultat genererades genom en tematisk analys. Resultat – Studien resulterade i sex domäner (1) business process and practice, (2) communication, (3) people, (4) user experience, (5) technology, och (6) system management bestående av förmågor som krävs av organisationer vid en PLMS-ersättning. Sammanlagt identifierades 15 förmågor underbyggda av 42 aktiviteter och samtliga domäner och förmågor är sammanfattade i ett utvecklat ramverk.   Teoretiska Bidrag och Praktiska Implikationer – Studien bidrar med en grundlig genomgång av den befintliga litteraturen inom PLMS-implementering, en empirisk studie av PLMS-ersättning samt vidareutveckling och upptäckt av domäner som presenteras i ett ramverk. Dessutom hjälper ramverket chefer att utvärdera om organisationer besitter de förmågor som gör att de kan utföra de aktiviteter som krävs för PLMS-ersättningar eller inte.  Begränsningar och Framtida Forskning – Studien begränsas av en fallstudie av en PLMS-ersättning i en tidig fas. Därför rekommenderas framtida forskning att validera och utöka studiens resultat i andra sammanhang. Det är också av praktiskt intresse att kartlägga aktörer inom en PLMS-ersättning och undersöka när, hur ofta och av vem aktiviteter som stöder förmågorna ska genomföras. Nyckelord – Product lifecycle management; Product lifecycle management system; Product data management; System implementation; System replacement. / Purpose – The purpose of this study is to facilitate the implementation of a product lifecycle management (PLM) approach by enhancing the understanding of what capabilities are required by organizations when replacing a product lifecycle management system (PLMS) and what activities realize these capabilities.  Method – The study employed an abductive single case-study approach, observing a PLMS replacement effort within the automotive industry in Sweden. Interviews were held with project managers, business architects, business analysts, developers, and superusers, all involved with or had knowledge about the studied replacement effort. In total, 21 interviews were conducted, and results were generated through a thematic analysis. Findings – The study resulted in six domains (1) business process and practice, (2) communication, (3) people, (4) user experience, (5) technology, and (6) system management consisting of capabilities that are required by organizations when replacing PLMS. In total, 15 capabilities underpinned with 42 activities were identified, and the domains and capabilities were summarized in a developed framework.  Theoretical Contribution and Practical Implications – The study contributes with a thorough review of the existing literature on PLMS implementation, an empirical study of PLMS replacement, and further development and discovery of domains presented in a framework. Furthermore, the framework assists managers in evaluating whether organizations possess the capabilities that allow them to perform the activities needed for PLMS replacements or not.  Limitations and Further Research – The study is limited by a single case study of a PLMS replacement effort in an early phase. Therefore, future work to validate and extend the study’s findings in other contexts is recommended. Also, mapping actors within a PLMS replacement effort and investigating when, how often, and, by whom activities underpinning the capabilities should be performed is of practical interest.   Keywords – Product lifecycle management; Product lifecycle management system; Product data management, System implementation; System replacement.

Notre étude a permis : Analyser les facteurs d’acceptabilité du système d’information (SI) en adoptant une approche comportementale et montrer la nécessité d’une approche immatérielle (Humaine/Culturelle, organisationnelle /managériale…) dans la conduite et la gestion du projet SI.Prendre en considération deux niveaux d’analyse : Le niveau micro pour l’analyse des facteurs immatériels relatifs à la méthodologie du projet d’implantation de SI, et les facteurs immatériels relatifs aux phases du projet SI. Le niveau macro pour l’analyse des facteurs immatériels relatifs à la stratégie d’aide et d’assistance, de diffusion des TIC dans les PME. La conception d’un modèle de recherche et effectuer deux tests : Le premier test de base de notre modèle en pré-adoption a permis de révéler une corrélation positive et statistiquement significative entre les facteurs immatériels et les facteurs d’acceptabilité. Communiquez les résultats du premier test. Le deuxième test en post-adoption qui nous a permis de : Confirmer la continuité de l’acceptabilité du SI en post-adoption avec l’augmentation du taux d’acceptabilité du SI. Confirmer la continuité de la prise en compte des facteurs immatériels dans le projet d’implantation du SI avec l’augmentation du taux d’immatérialité. Déduire que notre approche immatérielle a permis d’améliorer le taux d’acceptabilité du SI et, par conséquent, augmenter le taux de succès du projet d’implantation du SI. / Our thesis is devoted to the study of information technology and communication (ICT), their uses, impacts and their appropriations as well as the constraints which slow down their integration in small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). Our research allowed :To analyze the acceptability factors of the information system by adopting a behavioral approach and aims at showing the necessity of an immaterial approach (Human / Cultural, organizational / managerial ...) in the conduct and management of the project of the information system (IS). To Consider two levels of analysis: The micro level to analyze the immaterial factors relative to the methodology of the implementation project of IS and the immaterial factors relative to the phases of the project of the IS. The macro level to analyze the immaterial factors relative to the strategy of assistance and support, diffusion of ICT in SME. To Concept design of a research model and doing two tests: The first basic test of our model in pre-adoption allowed to show a statistically significant correlation between the immaterial factors and the acceptability factors. Communicate the results of the first test. The second test model in post-adoption phase allowed to confirm the continuity of the acceptability of IS in post-adoption with the increase of the rate of acceptability of IS. Confirm the continuity of the consideration of the immaterial factors in the project of implementation of an IS with the increase of the rate of system immateriality. Deduct that our immaterial approach allowed to improve the rate of acceptability of the IS and, consequently, to increase the rate of success of the project of implementation of IS.

By analyzing the existing scientific solutions, it<br />was concluded that they show a high level of systematic error due to the<br />fluctuation of the supply voltage of the transformer. The main contribution of<br />the thesis is the proposal of a new interpolation method for the calibration of<br />an asymmetry sensor connected to the low-voltage distribution network that<br />successfully reduces the systematic error. Computer implementation of the<br />method for work in real time represents an additional contribution.</p>

The intention of this master thesis is the presentation of the selected trends in CRM information systems. The opening part is aimed at management of customer relationships, which are analysed in terms of marketing and ICT technologies. This part also introduces the readers to the architecture of CRM information systems and to possible ways of implementing of these solutions. Moreover, it presents some vendors of CRM solutions that are leaders on the market. The following part is solely focused on the trends in CRM information systems. These trends are primarily related to cloud computing, social CRM and the internet of things. The next part of this thesis applies the findings from the previous chapters in a practical way. It deals with a creation of the request for a new CRM solution in an actual company from SME segment. The introduction of this chapter presents the chosen enterprise and analyses the current state of CRM and ICT in this company. The next part defines expected goals and the main requirements for a new CRM solution in the company. The conclusion of this part is focused on the choice of suitable vendors who will be asked for proposal and the evaluation criteria of the bid. Digitization has changed the conditions in which organizations can operate and conduct their business through digital workplaces. In order to meet the organizational requirements and technologies that digitalization entails, the digital workplace needs to be adaptable as well as strategically coordinated. Organizations also need to provide digital tools and systems to be able to work in the digital workplace. For that reason, the importance of the underlying technologies becomes crucial in the digital workplace. The purpose of this study is to achieve a deeper understanding of individual experiences in relation to the implementation and usage of a new IT platform. To answer the purpose of this study, we used a case study in which we conducted semi-structured interviews together with observations. This resulted in findings based on individual experiences that show both aspects of challenges and opportunities with the use of the IT platform. The conclusions that we established through this study are that learning and education in how the platform is expected to be used, as well as the platform's complexity, affect understanding and use of the IT platform. More businesses and organizations are going digital, and the conditions under which they operate and conduct business through digital workplaces are constantly changing. This study looks at how digital tools are used in one specific organization and how they might be made more efficient. Something that we believe can benefit both learning and development in other digital organizations' work.

Förändringar förändras och för att organisationer ska bevara sin konkurrenskraft kommer de att ställas inför tekniska utmaningar med en högre grad av komplexitet.  Informationssystem införs i verksamheter för att bistå med stöd till kommunikation mellan människor. En utmaning med införande av informationssystem är att de ofta anses misslyckade i något avseende, som att de inte uppnår förväntad affärsnytta. För att lyckas uppnå den förväntade affärsnyttan efter en införandeprocess är det viktigt att även behandla de socio- tekniska aspekterna. Det avser de individuella användarnas perspektiv av det nya systemet som ska införas och som i deras ögon ska uppfattas som stödjande. Detta för att de ska kunna acceptera det nya systemet och den förändring det medför, samt kunna använda det med goda intentioner på ett framgångsrikt sätt. En framgångsrik användning av informationssystemet kan resultera i att deras arbetsprocesser utförs mer säkert, ändamålsenligt samt produktivt. Som blir bidragande till att realisera affärsnyttorna inom organisationen.  Syftet med denna kandidatuppsats i informatik är att identifiera och beskriva de förhållanden i ett internationellt kredithanteringsföretag som uppfattas vara mest kritiska för framgångsrik användning av informationssystem efter en införandeprocess, ur ett individuellt användarperspektiv.  En kvalitativ forskningsmetodik har använts där en analys av publicerade studier har utförts och framställts i en analysmodell. Fallstudiemetoden har tillämpats för insamling av primära empiriska data, genom semistrukturerade intervjuer samt en deltagande observation. Fem personer har intervjuats som arbetar på fallföretaget, Intrum AB, om deras uppfattningar och inställning till användning efter införande av ett ersättande informationssystem.  Denna jämförande studie framhåller att de fyra viktigaste slutsatserna för en framgångsrik användning av informationssystem, ur ett individuellt användarperspektiv, är att: Systemutveckling föregår Verksamhetsutveckling, Förändringsledning påverkar primärt Användaracceptans, Användbarhet och Användaracceptans har en förstärkande effekt på varandra. Detta kan leda till Förhållanden där informationssystemet kan användas på ett framgångsrikt sätt, inte minst proaktivt, i företagets arbetsprocesser.

旅遊行程自動規劃系統的設計與實作 / MyTripPlan:The Design and Implementation of an Automatic Trip Planning System

近年來隨著全球化的發展,自助旅行的風氣蔚為風潮。背包客可以根據自己的喜好與條件,自己規劃旅遊路線與行程。一般規劃旅遊行程的過程費時而繁瑣,除了必須決定旅遊景點,還必須將景點開放時間、景點停留時間、交通方式、旅遊順序與路線、時間限制、住宿地點、經費等列入考量。 針對旅遊行程規劃,除了參考網友的行程規劃,目前已普遍有景點推薦、行程編輯系統,協助使用者規劃行程。但少有旅遊行程自動規劃系統。因此,本論文研發實作旅遊行程的自動規劃系統MyTripPlan。MyTripPlan具備景點推薦、景點停留與拜訪時間預估、路線規劃、行程規劃及行程調整的功能。 本系統MyTripPlan在離線時,先透過爬蟲程式由景點推薦網站取得熱門景點資訊、由相片分享網站取得景點相片時間以推估景點停留及拜訪時間、由交通查詢網站取得任兩景點間的推估交通時間。在線上時,當使用者輸入旅遊天數等時間限制、並由系統推薦景點勾選有興趣拜訪的景點及餐廳後,系統將運用定向排程演算法推論出符合時間限制的旅遊行程,呈現在地圖上,並結合交通網站,產生行程表。 經實驗效能驗證,以安排旅遊天數七天,五十六個景點所需要的行程規劃時間約為一秒鐘;使用者對於實作完畢的MyTripPlan系統與功能也都有滿意以上的評分。 / Travel planning process is time-consuming and tedious. To plan a trip, not only the attractions, but opening hours, timing cost, travel route, transportation, lodge, budget control and so on also need to be considered. While there are widespread attraction recommendation and itinerary editing systems to assist people to plan their trip, only few trip automated planning systems are developed. In this thesis, MyTripPlan, an automatic trip planning system, is designed and developed. MyTripPlan The system provides users the capability of attraction recommendation, visiting and stay time estimation, route planning, trip planning and itinerary adjustments. In offline process, MyTripPlan collects popular attraction information from web content for attraction recommendation, gets the timestamp of attractions from photo-sharing websites to estimate visiting and stay time, and crawls traffic information from public transportation query site to estimate the travel time between attractions. Given the trip duration, MyTripPlan recommends attractions and restaurants, schedules and produces the trip itinerary automatically based on the team orienteering scheduling algorithm. The generated itinerary takes the user-preferred attractions, visiting and stay time constraints, and transportation information into consideration. MyTripPlan presents the trip itinerary both in map and schedule list. The experiments show that the execution time for trip plan with fifty-six attractions in seven days requires about one second. Moreover, nineteen subjects were invited to evaluate the effectiveness of MyTripPlan. Most users were satisfied and gave excellent rating on the system performance.
