The health record system TakeCare : A study of functions based on a user and information security perspective

Aspnor, Ida, Sandell, Elin January 2012 (has links)
Since the introduction of computerized health record systems and unified record-keeping, the health care management of patient information has been criticized. There are divided opinions about whether or not the users or the systems that is imperfect. The survey aims to inspect selected features of the health record system TakeCare developed to maintain patient and information security. By comparing the functions to information security requirements established by Socialstyrelsen, the paper aims to find where the noted problems can arise. By asking users about their view, we intend to find an understanding for whether the problems occur in the technical functions or in the use of the system. Used methods are e-mail interviews and a study visit to Stockholm County Council's department for IT in form of an interview and presentation of TakeCare. We have observed that there are functions that take information security requirements into account and that the users believe they can manage the system, but nevertheless health care’s way of handling information is criticized. Based on our study, we believe that the problem occurs when an unauthorized person makes the decision to take part of information, which is not a result of the system's shortcomings. We believe that health care professionals are responsible for the patient’s safety, whether it's usage of the system or care of the patient.

Quantitative Finance under rough volatility / Finance quantitative sous les modèles à volatilité rugueuse

El Euch, Omar 25 September 2018 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to study various aspects of the rough behavior of the volatility observed universally on financial assets. This is done in six steps. In the first part, we investigate how rough volatility can naturally emerge from typical behav- iors of market participants. To do so, we build a microscopic price model based on Hawkes processes in which we encode the main features of the market microstructure. By studying the asymptotic behavior of the price on the long run, we obtain a rough version of the Heston model exhibiting rough volatility and leverage effect. Using this original link between Hawkes processes and the Heston framework, we compute in the second part of the thesis the characteristic function of the log-price in the rough Heston model. In the classical Heston model, the characteristic function is expressed in terms of a solution of a Riccati equation. We show that rough Heston models enjoy a similar formula, the Riccati equation being replaced by its fractional version. This formula enables us to overcome the non-Markovian nature of the model in order to deal with derivatives pricing. In the third part, we tackle the issue of managing derivatives risks under the rough Heston model. We establish explicit hedging strategies using as instruments the underlying asset and the forward variance curve. This is done by specifying the infinite-dimensional Markovian structure of the rough Heston model. Being able to price and hedge derivatives in the rough Heston model, we challenge the model to practice in the fourth part. More precisely, we show the excellent fit of the model to historical and implied volatilities. We also show that the model reproduces the Zumbach’s effect, that is a time reversal asymmetry which is observed empirically on financial data. While the Hawkes approximation enabled us to solve the pricing and hedging issues under the rough Heston model, this approach cannot be extended to an arbitrary rough volatility model. We study in the fifth part the behavior of the at-the-money implied volatility for small maturity under general stochastic volatility models. In the same spirit as the Hawkes approximation, we look in the sixth part of this thesis for a tractable Markovian approximation that holds for a general class of rough volatility models. By applying this approximation on the specific case of the rough Heston model, we derive a numerical scheme for solving fractional Riccati equations. Finally, we end this thesis by studying a problem unrelated to rough volatility. We consider an exchange looking for the best make-take fees system to attract liquidity in its platform. Using a principal-agent framework, we describe the best contract that the exchange should propose to the market maker and provide the optimal quotes displayed by the latter. We also argue that this policy leads to higher quality of liquidity and lower trading costs for investors.

Pevnostní návrh ostruhy letadla / Strength design of the aircraft spur

Profota, Martin January 2017 (has links)
This master thesis deals with computational stress-strain analysis of the tailskid of airplane L410 NG with main focus firstly the check current design of the tailskid and then the design another design solution with the able to absorb as much as possible the deformation energy. Solution of this problem is performed using computational modeling utilizing numerical simulation of quasi-static and crash deformation load of the tailskid with using explicit Finite Element Method (FEM) in program ABAQUS v6.14. After the introduction with problem situation and tailskid assembly introductory part is devoted to the research study of various designs of the tailskid for different types of airplanes. There follows these theoretical general principles of thin-walled structures and buckling of them. Before the creating of the computational model itself, the explicit form of the Finite Element Method is better described. The conclusion of this thesis deals with the mutual comparison of the most advantageous design variants of the tailskid and the selection of the most suitable one of them for the airplane L410 NG.

Winkler, Michael 14 November 2017 (has links)
The dissertation sheds light on the topic of land consumption, which marks one of the most pressing environmental problems in Germany as well as in Europe since decades, and which is accompanied by several social and economic, e.g. fiscal, effects. Retrospective indicator-aided GIS analyses of urban and suburban regions – using land use data of eight European cities (Bilbao, Bratislava, Dresden, Copenhagen, Lyon, Munich, Palermo and Porto), taken from the EU projects MURBANDY/MOLAND with a time span of about 50 years (beginning of the 1950s until end of the 1990s) – build the main part of the work. Within this, similarities and differences in the developments were worked out, to some degree also including a look on the different economic and political systems at that time. The principal objective of the PhD thesis is to close a gap between the theoretical analysis of land consumption and the often linked urban sprawl, particularly in (sub)urban settlement regions, and the practical communication of the research subject, primarily by means of adequate cartographic presentations. Furthermore, the dissertation aims on the one hand at connecting scientific investigations of land consumption and political need for action, and on the other hand at building a link to the communication to various stakeholders in the society. For this, the dissertation was also broadened by an analysis of the environmental awareness of the German society – focussing on the topic of land consumption – and by deeper considerations regarding forms and ways of communicating the topic in particular by means of cartographic approaches.

Automation Trust in Conditional Automated Driving Systems: Approaches to Operationalization and Design: Automation Trust in ConditionalAutomated Driving Systems: Approachesto Operationalization and Design

Hergeth, Sebastian 16 September 2016 (has links)
Automated driving systems allow to transfer a certain degree of vehicle control from the driver to a vehicle. By assisting, augmenting or even supplementing the driver, automated driving systems have been associated with enormous potential for improving driving safety, comfort, and efficiency - provided that they are used appropriately. Among those systems, conditional automated driving systems are particularly challenging for human-automation interaction: While the driver is no longer required to permanently monitor conditional automated driving systems, he / she is still expected to provide fallback performance of the dynamic driving task after adequate prior notification. Therefore, facilitating appropriate automation trust is a key component for enabling successful cooperation between drivers and conditional automated driving systems. Earlier work indicates that providing drivers with proper information about conditional automated driving systems might be one promising approach to do this. Considering the role of automation trust as a variable in the design of vehicle technology, however, also requires that drivers` automation trust can be viably measured in the first place. Accordingly, the objectives of this thesis were to explore difffferent methods for measuring drivers` automation trust in the context of conditional automated driving as well as the identification, implementation and evaluation of possible approaches for designing drivers` automation trust in conditional automated driving systems. For these purposes, three driving simulator studies with N = 280 participants were conducted. The results indicate that (i) both self-report measures and behavioral measures can be used to assess drivers` automation trust in conditional automated driving systems, (ii) prior familiarization with system limitations can have a lasting effffect on drivers` automation trust in conditional automated driving systems and (iii) particularly information about the processes of conditional automated driving systems might promote drivers` automation trust in these systems. Thus, the present research contributes much needed approaches to both measuring and designing automation trust in the context of conditional automated driving. In addition, the current findings might also be transferred to higher levels of driving automation as well as other domains and applications of automation.

Vývoj pohraničních sídel a jejich obyvatel na území Českého lesa / Development of the border settlements and their inhabitants of the Český les

Angelovová, Kamila January 2011 (has links)
The presented report surveys development of settlements and their native inhabitants in area of the Czech Forest Mountains in the West of the Czech Republic. This area was almost inaccessible during the communist era because it belonged to strictly monitored area on the border with the Federal Republic of Germany. Many villages, originally settled by Germans, became extinct. They became ruins in the course of time. The first part of the text is a case study of community called Lísková which is situated about 20 kilometers from Domažlice. The second part of the text describe a very similar village, which was not destroyed in 1956 unlike the village of Lísková. This village has survived up to this day. The aim of this dissertation is to find out what factors lead to the process of the extinction of the village and what were the reasons for other settlements having survived the ordered demolition in the borderland. Key words: border locality, human settlements, expulsion, extinct villages, borderline, fluctuation of population, social construction of reality, "take root", nations

Myodynamika oporové fáze při odrazových pohybech člověka / Myodynamics of the support phase during different take-off tasks in human locomotion

Hojka, Vladimír January 2013 (has links)
Title: Myodynamics of the support phase during different take-off tasks in human locomotion Objectives: Six types of take-off movement were analyzed in terms of support limb kinematics, take-off dynamics and muscle activation, in order to identify differences in motor control. Methods: 14 male athletes (22.6 ± 4.4 years; 182.4 ± 5.3 cm; 74.7 ± 6.2 kg) took part in laboratory experiment. Each athlete performed six different take-off movements (running, acceleration - first and second step, long jump take-off, high jump take-off and take-off to the hurdle). System Qualisys was used to analyze kinematics of the support limb. Dynamic of the suport phase was measured with Kistler 9281 EA force- plate. ME6000 apparatus was used to measure the muscle activation. Results were processed and statistically evaluated in Matlab (MathWorks, Inc) environment. Pair ANOVA, T-test and Friedmann test were performed to identify differences between take-off movements. regression analysis was introduced to find the relationship between parameters. Results: Significant differences in take-off dynamics are realized with not so significant differences in kinematic and electromyographic parameters. high jump and long jump take-offs acted most specifically in comparison with other types of take-offs. Two typically...

Design and layout of power conversion chain for a wave energy converter

Nithin Jose, Madassery January 2017 (has links)
Wave energy has the potential to provide an energy resource in this challenging energyenvironment. Wave energy converters are devices used to extract this energy and convertit into electricity. Wave Carpet is an example of such a novel wave energy converters andin its final form, it consists of a submerged membrane which covers an arbitrarily largearea above the sea floor. Incident waves create a pressure difference between the upper andlower surfaces, which triggers an up-and-down movement. The power take-off attached tothe surfaces serve to restrict this movement and thereby extract hydraulic power which isconverted to electricity. The Wave Carpet, is a type of wave energy converter that is beingdeveloped at University of California Berkeley′s Theoretical and Applied Fluid DynamicsLaboratory (TAFLab). The thesis aims at modeling and designing the different power conversion chainof the entire wave energy converter device. The process of energy conversion that yieldsthe required electrical energy for connecting a wave energy converter to an electricalnetwork is termed as the power conversion chain. A detailed electro-mechanical modelof the wave energy converter system connected to power grid is developed in theMatlab/SIMULINK environment and its corresponding generator and hydraulic controlstructure is implemented. The simulation response of the wave energy converter alongwith the power conversion chain is investigated.
