Technikentwicklung als reflexiver Modernisierungsprozeß

Stückemann, Thomas 01 February 2000 (has links)
There are several means to analyse the intrinsic connection of technological development and social evolution in sociology today. The thesis examines technology and its development as part of social evolution from a system-theoretical point of view. Using this approach, terms like "technology" and "social evolution" are reformulated. "Technology" is a particular type of border of social systems, using the mode of causality in observing its environment; thus Technology is defined as the fixation of causal expectations. "Social evolution" is a social systems' structural change by the selection and reinforcement of variations, creating a singular history. In terms of sociology, any technological development is part of a wider developing social context. This is visualized by confronting the terms "progress" and "modernization"; both being concepts of sociology as well as of debates on technology and social development. By using technology, by giving way to innovation, and by limiting the use of technology, a given society tries to monitor and influence its own evolution. The thesis shows that these attempts become more complex, but not necessarily more effective. The fundamental properties of any evolution cannot be annulated --- the social evolution always remains unpredictable, even when evolutionary theories allow reflexive observations. In contrast to its predecessors the modern society constitutes a type of technology which is highly independent of any given social context. But this freedom is risky. Contextualizations and decision-makings imply a higher degree of reflexivity. In the case of technological development, both determinations and options increase at the same time. What is complex in technological development is its social, not its mere technical side. Any reflexive debate on technology has to reflect technology as a social issue.

AI – maskinen med guldpennan? : En studie om hur användningen av artificiell intelligens påverkar det kreativa arbetet hos en copywriter / AI – the machine with the golden pen? : A study on how the use of artificial intelligence affects the creative work of a copywriter

Malmqvist, Hanna, Lorentzon, Naima January 2023 (has links)
Through interviews with copywriters, this essay examines how AI technologies may influence the creative process their work. We must also look at whether AI can be creative in order to provide an answer to the study topic. Therefor the paper explores the concept of creativity. The conclusion according to the study, shows that AI can be creative when collaborating with humans. For a copywriter, using AI streamlines and simplifies their process. The study also demonstrates that co-creativity, or human and AI collaboration in the creative process, is advantageous to both copywriters and AI.Furthermore, the study demonstrates that copywriters are not necessarily threatened by AI. Certain simple aspects of the process, such swiftly collecting and compiling data, can be replaced by AI systems. A collaboration primarily shows beneficial consequences for a copywriter. They have more time for creativity in their job process. Although most of the study's interviewees are supportive of a wider use of AI technologies in the media sector, there are concerns regarding AI's limited capacity for critical engagement with its own creations. It is also argued that AI lacks other crucial characteristics like warmth and soul, which are essentials aspects of creativity.

Gestão de porta - fólio de projetos de P&D em uma instituição pública de pesquisa científico - tecnológica em saúde / Portfólio management of R & D projects in a public institution of scientific research - health care technology

Campos, Mansur Ferreira January 2009 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2011-05-04T12:36:29Z (GMT). / This research investigates how does the management of the portfolio of innovation projects in an Institution of Public Health Research, illustrated by the case of the production units of Fiocruz. The research applied aspects of the analysis methodology proposed by the Démarche Strategic (strategic management), which imply the adaptation of a business approach to public sector health services. Projects of strategic analysis in accordance with the model of McKinsey, occurred in the dimensions of R & D projects value (attractiveness), and its competitive position, taking into account the different abilities, interests and desires of an institution such as the Fiocruz, whose activities are interconnected and has to choose opportunities that are current and diverse to be applied to health. The model that integrates the concepts of synergy and entry barriers, facilitates strategic options, however, the diagnosis that the instrument of analysis points is more important than specific strategies. The results indicate the need to consider the incorporation of additional criteria in the qualitative model, such as government regulation of the market, patent protection, cost advantage, management skills, and privileged access to raw materials.

Développement d'une nouvelle technologie de cryothérapie Corps Entier / Development of a new technology of whol-body Cryotherapy (WBC) chamber

Bouzigon, Romain 05 December 2016 (has links)
This thesis has been completed as part of a CIFRE agreement between the research and development department of the Cryantal Company (Lognes, France) and the C3S (EA4660) and MOVE (EA6314) laboratories from the Universities of Franche-Comté and Poitiers. The aim of the thesis was the development of a new technology of whole-body Cryotherapy (WBC) chamber. The various studies that we conducted centred on : – the identification of technological and methodological requirements from field studies and the analysis of scientific literature; – the development of a WBC chamber prototype according to the identified requirements; – the technological validation of the prototype to its industrialization; and – the evolution of the prototype toward a marketable version. The thesis was divided into two parts. The first part highlights the practical applications and the technological requirements to identify the limits and the advantages of the existing methodologies and technologies in order to develop a new WBC chamber device. Studies performed in the field during competitions showed that WBC is well tolerated by athletes and can be used during heavy competition periods and/or during training periods. We also demonstrated that female athletes with lower body-mass indexes seem to be much more sensitive to cold than female athletes with higher body-mass indexes. The literature review reported a lack of data concerning the actual temperature inside the WBC chamber and cabin. The lack of methodological information for the exposure protocol was also pointed out. It creates the link between the field of application of the WBC and the different technology used. The second part presents the technological development of the new WBC chamber prototype, its validation, and its optimisation in order to be commercialized. This part includes a validation study of the prototype based on the effects of a 3-minute exposure on the skin temperature decrease of exposed individuals. The results showed a similar decrease to those observed with other WBC existing technologies. This is certainly due to the homogeneity of the temperature of exposure and the new technology developed. Preliminary measurements of the prototype allowed for the prospect of the commercialization of this new WBC chamber.

Challenges in teaching IsiXhosa home language in rural Eastern Cape secondary schools

Kafu, Hazel Bukiwe 30 September 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the challenges in teaching IsiXhosa home language in rural secondary schools. Learners from Grades 8 to 12 perform poorly in IsiXhosa grammar, essay writing, literature and oral work. The researcher sampled 40 learners from each of two senior secondary schools, eight parents and eight IsiXhosa subject specialists (two district based and six school based) to take part in the research. Data for this study were collected during cluster moderations in one of the secondary schools by using document analysis, interviews and questionnaires. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used by the researcher to analyse IsiXhosa results from Grade 8 to Grade 12. Analysis of documents such as mark schedules and marks for formal and informal tasks gave evidence that learners perform poorly in grammar, literature, oral work and essay writing. Scarcity or non-availability of distinctions (levels 6 and 7) in Grade 12 final exams as well as in Grades 8 to 11 proves that the language demands special attention for its teaching and learning in the secondary classroom situation; the conclusions were therefore drawn and recommendations made. / Curriculum and Instructional Studies / D.
