Previous issue date: 2006-05-19 / Acari-RN is one of the earliest municipalities in the region of Serid? Potiguar in rio Grande do Norte. In this municipality, two feelings coexist: power and loss. The former, justified by the process of occupation, which gave birth to its micro-region and the latter, marked by economic impoverishment, starting from the decade of 1970, with the decline of its main wealth: the cotton economy. From the association of
these feelings, the motivation for the construction of this piece of work emerged. In it, poverty and inequality are discussed, in a dialect relation with the territory, through a
theoretical-methodological reflection and from the analysis of the data collected in a field research. In order to valorize and enrich the theme and the study of the territory of Acari, it was necessary to compare it with the other municipalities that it generated: Currais Novos, Jardim do Serid? and Parelhas. Therefore, the use of the elements of
a quantitative and qualitative research, applied in the study section, aimed at finding the poverty indicators, which make it difficult the development in Acari. Potiguar, no Rio Grande do Norte.

Previous issue date: 2010-09-24 / In the norte-rio-grandense backwoods is possible to join to the power forms both political and economical ones, religious groups keeping under your control areas, people and flow of them, as well as settling new places of acts. That control refers to a field of power delimited by space, in other words, it refers to a territory marked and planned to reproductive intentions on the space. In relation to the religious pluralism, the Assembly of God church, in your territorial dynamics, has been standing out by the strategies of delimitation and space increase which by a constant territorial division process (1943-2010) managed to widen material and symbolic scale of its power for all cities of the Rio Grande do Norte backwoods. The Assembly of God church as the greatest Pentecostal denomination of Brazil was formed in the Rio Grande do Norte Serid?, following a ecclesiastical and governmental model divided into three ecclesiastical fields hosted in those following cities: Caic?, Currais Novos and Parelhas. Those headquarters interlink a limited number of churches through normative codes, which they express a functional dimension (bureaucratic) and in another symbolic one (charismatic) in an only field of territorial control. In this manner, the maintenance of the territorial power in the Assembly of God church is done by a charismatic-bureaucratic administration, expressed in the interdependent of material and abstract mechanisms. The believers permanent contact toward those mechanisms of institutional control revealed territorial identities which causes a feeling of property of the believer as much to the Pentecostal belief system as to community of the Assembly of God church. Considering new possibilities of articulation of the Rio Grande do Norte backwoods towards others territories more multiple, culturally, noticed cultural adjustments and revaluation at themselves. In relation to the territory of the Assembly of God church this one has exposed itself defensive faced with that cultural hybridization tendency, resisting a closer dialogue to new symbolic elements, mainly those came from the multifaceted neo-pentecostal movement. Unlike more open and flexible churches towards others significant systems, The Assembly of God church tries to reinforce the boundaries of its territory considering by the orthodoxy of its routine and customs / No Serid? norte-rio-grandense ? poss?vel identificar junto ?s modalidades de poder como a pol?tica e a econ?mica, grupos religiosos mantendo sob seu controle ?reas, pessoas e fluxos, como tamb?m fixando novos pontos de atua??o.

regard to the occupation of road systems in urban areas. The implementation of
systems engineering and transport infrastructure such as roads (roads), signs, stops,
stations and complex road (bridges, viaducts and tunnels) are not used in the same
way in the area. The subway is not even use the bus and vice versa. The time spent
in travel, the time to access and the number of trips made by passengers in each
way of transport is not the same. The use of transport systems in the territory,
therefore, takes place through a whole in the current period we are in the technicalscientific

Previous issue date: 2011-02-24 / The study done has as objective the comprehension of the constructed territorial
spaces through the commercial perspective, because it is a social practice which
enables the dynamic of the space and the appearing of territories. Related to the
territory, we emphasized the interest for the idea of used territory treated by Milton
Santos, because we agreed with him believing that is the use of the territory which
warrants its legitimacy. Then, the spatial dimension chose concentrates itself into the
district of Alecrim, localized at the east zone of Natal/RN, where it is recognized by its
strong commercial dynamic which was built during years, facing some events which
happened in the context of the city. However, this dynamic counts with a hard
dichotomy which involves as the considered by the State formal activities, as the
informal one. About the commerce of the district, it has characteristics into its
activities whose make him to be considered popular, as by the existing products, as
by the strong presence of informal workers that constitutes the district s landscape.
The informal workers practice expresses one of the multiples constructed alternative
territorialities. We believe that this fact has direct relation with the growing process of
the exclusion from the formal jobs market. Still talking about the spatial dimension,
this real example of the Alecrim district shows how the techniques changes, together
with the capitalism process, may influence one entire spatial dynamic across years,
involving many agents, since the transient people from somewhere, until the State.
Shall the Geography understand the multiple forms from the space, face to the
relations that occur into it and also how new territories have been built / O estudo realizado objetiva a compreens?o dos espa?os territoriais constru?dos
Cabe ? Geografia
compreender as diversas formas assumidas pelo espa?o mediante as rela??es que
se d?o nele e tamb?m o modo como os novos territ?rios t?m sido constru?dos

Previous issue date: 2011-02-28 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior / Tourism has in recent years a significant growth in the economy, bringing repercussions on use of the territory. Hence the importance of discussing how the activity has been planned by public authorities and business, important actor in this process. Our objective is to analyze the corporative use of the territory Norte-Rio-Grandense by tourism, based on the renewal of geographical thought in Milton Santos and other authors coherent theory. Although planning is seen as a practice that incorporates various scientifics contributions is undeniable eminently geographical base, as it comes to relationshipsand process in the territory. The project Parque das Dunas/Via Costeira driving the development of tourism in Natal as to its construction, the city had a quality hotel infrastructure capable of receiving a greater number of tourists. One of the guiding instruments of state planning in accordance with the Federal Government is the Planejamento Pluri-Anual - PPA, which has the discourse territory, but establishes sectoral actions, which included tourism with the allocation of resources. In addition to receiving funds Prodetur I and II, since the early 1990s, these resources from the BIRD and other lines of funding available through federal financial institutions. Thus the sectoral action planning is disintegrated, while the territorial planning makes us think the whole moving and complexity Our data policies and public and private investments, we proved that the action of companies in line with the state, favors the hegemonic agents, or the corporative use of the territory Norte-Rio-Grandense / O turismo apresenta nos ?ltimos anos um significativo crescimento na economia, expresso no uso do territ?rio.

Previous issue date: 2011-12-15 / This paper focuses public bus service as an essential component to urban dynamics
in Natal, RN. Thereby, the approach of public bus service in Natal City, capital of Rio
Grande do Norte State, has as analytical category the concept of territory used, in
which techniques are seen as space elements allowing man and nature interact
together. The result of this interaction, systematically analyzed in different historical
phases, makes space to a geographical assessment of the theme. On a second
moment, it is investigated how public bus system came to be and how it functions
today in Natal City. In this sense, this paper looks for the main elements that
contributed to explain the subject under investigation. For example, how public bus
service has accompanied Natal s socio-spatial changes, and eventually, the use of
territory carried out in the context of public bus system. These questions are
highlighted in this paper because they play a fundamental role to an explanation
about public bus circulation, urban vehicle policies and how they affect the use of
territory nowadays.
abordagem geogr?fica do tema proposto.
?nibus.

Previous issue date: 2014-03-14 / This research aims to understand the use of the territory from the Rio Grande do Norte to the circuit spatial of production from the Biodiesel understanding it as part of the national context. The introduction of biodiesel into the Brazilian energy matrix begins to take shape in the year 2005 with the implementation of the National Program for Production and Use of Biodiesel (NPPB). This is anchored on three pillars: social inclusion (through family agriculture), environmental sustainability and economic viability. The NPPB consists of a set of standards, which turned into shares and distributed by almost all the national territory. Our reflection assumes that the places accommodating different forms of productive activities and, thus, the performance of the circuit space of biodiesel production depends on several factors, including the configuration of the territory they receive this new nexus economic. Understanding that the places by their technical content determine the realization of productive activities, it was found that the inclusion of this circuit space production in Rio Grande do Norte, reveals the reality expressed in the national territory, where some places are endowed with a privileged technical content and other extremely poor infrastructure. As our research could confirm the circuit space of biodiesel production that is expressed in the way plants are distributed within the country (mostly in South-Central), in more significant participation of small farmers in the South in the supply of raw material for the production of biodiesel and the main raw material used for the production of agrofuels (soybeans, whose production sector is highly consolidated and technified). Already the project materialization of NPPB regarding the settlements and communities of the Rio Grande do Norte State, we observed that the "event" or advent of realization encountered a technical means lacking in infrastructure that need to be molded to the needs of production, or is to cultivate castor beans or sunflower would be needed inputs and implements that farmers don?t have. Given the above, the research concludes that, as proposed previously, the use of the territory of Rio Grande do Norte to this circuit has summarized the performance of experiments, either with regard to the participation of family farmers as suppliers of raw materials, including the development of related research in the stage of production fuel oil by Petrobras. This finding came from research done from the concept of "spatial circuits of production," which allowed the verification of the circuit that steps outlined in Potiguar territory. Regarding the inclusion of family farmers in the productive circuit in RN, research reveals that, in the manner as has been done, it is doomed to failure. Furthermore, we dare say that this persistence in trying to put these family farmers, the way is being made, and the resulting successive failures, indicating that social inclusion advocated by NPPB not take place, and that this production circuit relies on the same logic circuit concentrated and exclusive space for ethanol production / A introdu??o do biodiesel na matriz energ?tica nacional come?a a se concretizar a partir de 2005 com a implementa??o do Programa Nacional de Produ??o e Uso do Biodiesel (PNPB).

The ?rea de Prote??o Ambiental de Jenipabu was created by Decreto 12,620/95, covering
the beaches of Redinha Nova, Santa Rita and Jenipabu and Campina communities in the
municipality of Extremoz, and Africa community fragment, in Natal. This protected area
was created in the context of expansion of tourism in Rio Grande do Norte, in the 1990s,
in which PRODETUR investments made possible the installation of infrastructure
equipment, mainly in the Via Costeira and Ponta Negra beach in Natal by inserting it in
the sun and sea tourism route to Northeast Brazil. In this context the beach Jenipabu in
Extremoz, became one of the main attractions for those visiting Natal, due to the natural
elements of its landscape, its dune field, which is offered to tourists the buggy ride. In
December 1994 the excess buggy rides held in these dunes led to IBAMA ban their access
to buggy for carrying out environmental study. This measure resulted in the creation of
APAJ in 1995 with the goal of ordering the use and occupation to protect its ecosystems,
especially the dunes, the disordered tourism. Given this context, this work aims to analyze
the process of creating the APAJ and changes in the geographic space of its beaches,
Redinha Nova, Santa Rita and Jenipabu, from the materialization of tourism process, as
well as their implications for its residents. To this end, this paper presents a discussion of
environmental currents that developed in the western portion of the globe, focusing on
the need to regulate small areas of the national territory in protected areas, and an analysis
of public policies that enabled the implementation tourism in APAJ as well as the laws
and decrees governing the process of creation and management. Using the theory of
circuits of urban economy of the Santos (2008) to analyze the territory used by tourism
on the beaches of Redinha Nova, Santa Rita and Jenipabu, showing their dependent
relationship with the territory used by the upper circuit on the Via Costeira and in the
Ponta Negra beach and its influence on the APAJ urbanization process. Ending with the
analysis of the influence of the materialization of tourism in the transformation of stocks
ways of being-in-space and space-be of the Santa Rita and Jenipabu beaches in each
geographical situation of APAJ among the first decades of the twentieth century to the
2014. Fieldwork was conducted between 2012 and 2014, performing actions of
qualitative interviews with older residents of Santa Rita and Jenipabu beaches, interviews
with structured questionnaire with merchants of APAJ and collecting GPS points trades,
identifying and mapping the territory used by the lower circuit in APAJ beaches.

As comunidades quilombolas e
Branco, Rio Grande do Norte.
(AMQA).
In the late 1980s, the quilombola (or maroon) communities emerged on the Brazilian public
scene. They established themselves as new collective subjects and ethnic groups, in a
historical moment of sensitive political changes in several social conflicts and struggles,
both in Brazil and in Latin America. Because of their socio-cultural and historical
singularities, these communities have self-identified in the same collective expression and
have organized in search of recognition and respect for their rights. Quilombo communities
and other self-labeled as "traditional communities" seek to reaffirm their differences in
opposition to a conscious colonizer cultural project and re-signify their memories and
traditions, that serve as reference in the construction of alternative production projects and
community organization. One of the distinguishing characteristics of this quilombola
political emergence process is the territorial nature of the struggles, manifested in at least
two directions: on the one hand, the struggle for legal and formal recognition of a given
space, i.e., the regularization and titling of occupied territories, considering that the
Brazilian Constitution of 1988 recognizes the right of these communities to the final
possession of the traditional lands. On the other hand, the struggle for recognition of their
territoriality in a broader sense, not necessarily restricted to the demarcated area, but as the
recognition of a culture and its own way of life, that originated historically in these
territories. The current accomplishments and challenges of the Brazilian quilombola
communities are well exemplified by the quilombo of Acau?, in the Po?o Branco
municipality of Rio Grande do Norte. The last fifteen years have been marked by
important changes in this community, which has gained visibility and has emerged as a new
political player. Acau? identified itself as quilombola community in 2004, the same year
that it formalized its political structure, through the creation of the Association of Residents
of Quilombo Acau? (AMQA, in Portuguese). Also in 2004, it requested to the National
Institute of Colonization and Land Reform (INCRA, in Portuguese) the opening of the
process for regularization and titling of quilombo territory, which is at an advanced stage,
but so far without definitive resolution. This study aims to understand the process of
territorialization (struggle for territorial claim) played in the last fifteen years by the
community of Acau?.
