The aim of the study is to investigate the relation between attachment style, early maladaptive schemas and attitude towards help seeking. Participants of this study were composed from 572 university students (264 female, 308 male). Participants were selected by convenient sampling method. The data was obtained by using the scale of Attitudes toward Seeking Psychological Help - Shortened (T&uuml / rk&uuml / m, 2001), Relationship Questionnaire (Bartholomew &amp / Horowitz, 1991), Young Schema Questionnaire-Short Form (Young &amp / Brown,2006) and a demographic information form. One-way analysis of variance used to analyze the data. The findings of the study indicated students with secure attachment style was found to have more positive attitude towards psychological help seeking than preoccupied, dismissive and fearful attachment styles. As for early maladaptive schemas, the students who have Social Isolation/Alienation schema, Emotional Inhibition schema, Entitlement / Grandiosity schema and Defectiveness / Shame schema show more positive help seeking attitude than students who don&rsquo / t have. In addition, female students were found to have more positive help seeking attitude than male students.

Young Swedish adults' attitudes towards offshoring

Offshoring, meaning the movement of business operations to foreign countries, has recently grown. It provides the company with opportunities which are not available domestically, but it also bears risks. The public has recently blamed the strategy of offshoring for weak growth of domestic economy, decreasing competitiveness, salary stagnation, job losses, lower worker morale, and poverty. As a consequence, a firm carrying out offshoring activities could suffer from consumers' negative attitudes towards offshoring, as the consumers are unwilling to buy their products/services or take actions against the company. This study addresses the Swedish young adults' attitudes towards offshoring. Young adults are playing an important role in economy as consumers, future workers, innovators, leaders and decision makers. The study investigates the factors that were underlying the formation of attitudes towards offshoring. We focused especially on three factors, namely consumer ethnocentrism, economic threat and quality beliefs. In order to address these issues, a quantitative research approach was applied and primary data were collected. The variables for the online survey were mainly distilled from Durvasula and Lysonski (2009) as well Grappi, Romani and Bagozzi (2013). The gathered data have been analyzed via the software of SPSS by performing correlation tests and analyzing descriptive statistic measures. The results indicated that Swedish young adults had neutral attitudes towards offshoring. We also found that two of the studied factors, consumer ethnocentrism and economic threat, were vital in the formation of the attitudes towards offshoring.

Drunk - Driving, Relapse Pattern and Risky Driving Behavior Among Participants in a DWI Prevention Programme

The overall aim of the study was to examine relapse among participants in the DWI Prevention Programme and those who get prison sentence after driving when influenced by alcohol and to examine the participants’ attitudes towards drunk – driving, risk behavior and traffic safety. A direct evaluation of the sentence and penal accomplishment is also examined. The sample of the survey study (see article 1) was 44 from the DWI – sample and 44 from the prison – sample that completed a questionnaire answering about their attitudes towards drunk – driving, risk behavior and traffic safety. The results presented in article 2 are based on transcripts of criminal convicts that participated in the DWI Prevention Programme during the period of 1998 – 2002 in the Salten District ( n = 68) and a sample of convicts to an unconditional sentence for drunk - driving in the same time periode (n = 112). The 1st analysis revealed that the DWI – sample had more ideal attitudes towards drunk – driving, risk behavior and traffic safety. There were also significant differences in how they evaluated their sentence and penal accomplishment. The DWI - sample were generally more satisfied with the penal accomplishment, the way they was treated and how the relationships around them were. They were also more satisfied with the contents of the penal accomplishment. Multivariate analysis, Kaplan – Meier and Cox regression was used in the 2nd analysis calculating if there were significant differences between the samples, survival time and to investigate effects of several variables upon the time a specified event takes to happen. In this study the relapse time was shorter for men than for women and the youngest age – groups had a shorter relapse time than the oldest age – groups. The Kaplan – Meier plot revealed that the prison – group have a shorter relapse time compared to the DWI – group. Based on the results of the two articles we can conclude that the DWI Prevention Programme had a very good effect on the participants compared to those who get traditional prison – sentence. The participants in the programme had the most ideal attitudes and the longest survival time after participating. When it comes to survival time among gender and age, women and the older age – groups had the longest survival time.

Through the help of questionnaires the need of wardship of pedagogues, who start their work, and students – trainees was cleared up and the situation of its satisfaction in pre – school educational institutions too. The standpoint towards a mentor in pre – school institutions of pedagogues, who start their work, students – trainees, educators and the head of institution was cleared up as well. The research has shown, that pedagogues, who start their work, and students – trainees meet quite much difficulties during the first year of their work or practice. Students – trainees and pedagogues, who start their work, lack detailed help, so it is necessary for them to get such help. It was established, that the situation of the wardship of pedagogues, who start their work, and students – trainees is not good in pre – school educational institutions. The wardship for pedagogues, who start their work, is not organized in pre – school institutions. The majority of pedagogues – beginners are let take care of themselves. The mentor’s work in institutions is often carried out by educators, who are partners in a pair, and rarely is fulfilled by director’s assistant for education. How do gender and socioeconomic backgrounds affect students’ academic performance, educational choices and attitudes towards education? Moreover, does class play the same role for girls and boys? In order to find this out, I surveyed students in a small province located in the northern inlands of Sweden. The survey was answered by nearly every student in the ninth grade of that year, a total of 160 people. The results revealed that girls in this area have less faith in their capabilities than boys, despite getting much better grades. Many more girls than boys want to go onto college or university studies. In the end, I also found that girls like school much more than boys do. Socioeconomic background played a large role in all areas, except for attitudes towards education. Class was also found to have a much greater impact on boys than on girls, sometimes -as in regards to future studies - up to four times

The purpose of this study was to determinate the standpoint of basketball players towards their coaches and couching efficacy in two basketball teams: in the Lithuanian national team and in the club team “Žalgiris”. The main tasks of the research were to establish how basketball players evaluate the activity of their coach and to establish the effectiveness of communication during training. The methods of the research: a) survey of literature; b) questionnaire. For the purpose of research two basketball teams The National basketball team and “Žalgiris” were selected. Twelve basketball players form each team were chosen. The research was carried out in 2006. Referring to the accomplished investigation of the effectiveness of training conditions it was established, that in a psychological sense training conditions are more favorable evaluated by the Lithuanian National team. The players of “Žalgiris” are unsatisfied with training conditions: basketball players lack the coaches support and attention. More than 50 % players of the both teams evaluate favorably their coaches activity rates: gnostic, emotional and behavioral (the level of these rates was evaluated as high). By employing T. Dembo – S. Rubistein approach Effectiveness of Communication during training it was determined, that the criticism related to the trainer of the Lithuanian National team is not so sharp like in the club team “Žalgiris“.

Šio darbo tikslas - įvertinti tėvų požiūrį į paauglių sveikatos poreikius ir problemas. Medžiaga ir metodai. Šiame tyrime atlikta 33 – 68 metų 241 Kauno miesto, penkių mokyklų moksleivių tėvų (40 vyrai ir 201 moterys) apklausos duomenų analizė. Norint nustatyti tėvams aktualias paauglių sveikatos problemas, įvertinti ryšius tarp tėvų įvardinamų paauglių sveikatos problemų ir šeimos bendravimo ypatumų, išanalizuoti šeimos gyvensenos ir paauglių sveikatos problemų sąsajas, buvo atliktas vienmomentinis epidemiologinis tyrimas. Apklausai naudota anoniminė anketa. Vykdant duomenų analizę, statistinių ryšių stiprumas tarp požymių buvo vertinamas Pearson’o koreliacijos koeficientu, jo laisvės laipsnių skaičius (df). Remiantis lentelės duomenimis buvo apskaičiuojamas Chi kvadrato (χ2) kriterijus. Ryšiai laikomi statistiškai reikšmingi, kai p<0,05. Išvados: 1. Kauno miesto paauglių tėvai ir motinos skirtingai vertina paauglių sveikatos problemų aktualumą savo aplinkoje: vyrai aktualiausiomis paauglių sveikatos problemomis įvardina alkoholio vartojimą (22,5 proc.), emocines problemas (20,5 proc.), nepakankamą fizinį aktyvumą (17,5 proc.) ir narkotikų vartojimą 17 proc. Moterys didžiausio dėmesio reikalaujančia problema įvardina nesveiką mitybą (23,8 proc.), nepakankamą fizinį aktyvumą (18,4 proc.) bei narkotikų vartojimą (17,1 proc.). 2. Materials and methods. 241 student parents (40 male and 201 female) between 33 – 68 years old from five Kaunas high schools took part in the survey the data of which has been analysed in this study. To find relevant to parents teenagers health problems, to estimate connection between of parents mentioned teenagers health problems and singularity of family communication, to analyse connection of family lifestyle and teenagers health problems, was made epidemiological study. In this survey was used anonymous questionnaire. Intensity of statistical connections between features was estimated in Pearson correlation coefficient during this data analyse. Independency of indication was checked with the help of chi square (χ) criterion. Associations are considered to be statistically significant if p < 0,05. Conclusions: 1. Fathers and mothers of teenagers in Kaunas assess teenagers health problems in their environment differently: mans think that most relevant health problems between teenagers is alcohol drinking (22,5 per.), emotional problems (20,5 per.), insufficient physical activity (17,5 per.), drugs consumption (17 per.). Nors profesinis mokymas kartais yra vadinamas pirmaisiais žingsniais karjeros link, tačiau dauguma moksleivių mieliau stoja į universitetus dėl žemo profesinio mokymo patrauklumo.
