Previsão de recalque e análise de confiabilidade de fundações em estacas hélice contínua / Prediction of settlements and reliability analysis of continuous flight auger piles

Nestor Benedito Fracasse de Barros 02 July 2012 (has links)
This dissertation presents an evaluation of the behavior of continuous flight auger piles on ultimate capacity, settlments, safety and reliability, from a scenario analysis in which we considered a database of 58 static load tests, performed on piles of 13 distinct sites. However, this research is focused on the loaddisplacement behavior and reliability of this type of foundation. This analysis also verified the applicability of the method proposed by Aoki (1989) to determine the load-displacement curve of these pile load tests. The values of measured pile capacity were compared with those provided by the method Aoki & Velloso (1975), the method Decourt & Quaresma (1978), the method Cabral (1996), and the method Alonso (1996). These methods were also used to predict the load transfer along the piles, necessary to predict the load-displacement curve by the method of Aoki (1989). Additionally, the results of these load tests were used to estimate the probability of failure of the foundations tested, and the occurrence of settlements exceeding a threshold value.

This research aims to analyze the peculiarity of Paul Tillich's concept of faith. To do that, the focus is put on three concepts: ultimate concern, being grasped and Inconditional. Based on the analysis of these three concepts, it is possible to define what faith is, and what, in Tillichs point of view, faith is not. In this analytical task, special attention is given to the of the concept of faith as something simultaneously human and divine, and to how real faith relates with several concepts which are the base of Tillich's theology and philosophy, among whose are stressed: culture, religion, revelation, correlation method, religious symbols and ontological reason. Also a treatment of the concepts of idolatrous faith and of absolute faith is developed. Finally, the distinction between the realms of faith and reason, the last conceived in its technical sense, and the harmonious relation between faith and ontological reason are presented.

Adaptative memory and animacy effect

Gelin, Margaux 25 October 2017 (has links)
According to the adaptive memory view, human memory was shaped in the distant past to remember fitness relevant information (e.g., finding food, protecting ourselves from predators). An increasing number of studies favor this view, by showing that information related to to survival is memorized better than information not related to survival (Nairne, Thompson, & Pandeirada, 2007). Recently, a new type of findings further supports this functional approach of memory: animacy effects, that is to say the observation that animates (living things able of independent movements; e.g., baby, grasshopper) are remembered better than inanimates (non-living things e.g., teakettle, rope). One account of this memory effect has been that animates are of greater importance for survival and/or reproduction. In effect, knowing how to interact with animates was crucial for the survival of our ancestors, and thus, for the evolution of our species. In this work, our main purposes were to identify some proximate mechanisms underpinning animacy effects in episodic memory as well as the contexts in which these effects are observed. Taken overall, our findings accord with the claim that animacy effects in memory are: (1) linked to recollection (conscious recall of contextual details); (2) independent of cognitive resources; (3) partially underpinned by mental imagery and (4) to some extent modulated by encoding context.

Insurance portfolio's with dependent risks

Badran, Rabih 23 January 2014 (has links)

Návrh předpjaté stropní konstrukce / Design of a prestressed slab

Juříček, Lukáš January 2018 (has links)
Diploma thesis is focused on the design of prestressed concrete membrane from the lightweight concrete. The concrete membrane is in the interaction with the bearing steel structure, which one is supported. I did only one variant of the solution, which was optimized. The goal of the design was determined the initial state of a membrane and ensure to in the end of design working life was the membrane in the compression state and the cracks couldn’t appear. The structure is modelled in the main (longitudinal) direction as a spatial frame in program ANSYS 17.2. This tool enables to perform analysis of the construction stages. The rheology is calculated manually and supplied to the model as relative strain. The whole structure is checked for ultimate limit state and serviceability limit state according to valid Eurocodes. Transverse direction is modelled by shell elements in program RFEM 5.12. Construction stages and global behaviour of the structure were analysed. The checks have been calculated manually and control in program IDEA StatiCa. The attachments of the thesis are drawings, visualisation and schemes of construction stages.
