A Type System For Combinatory Categorial GrammarErkan, Gunes 01 January 2003 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis investigates the internal structure and the computational representation of
the lexical entries in Combinatory Categorial Grammar (CCG). A restricted form of
typed feature structures is proposed for representing CCG categories. This proposal
is combined with a constraint-based modality system for basic categories of CCG.
We present some linguistic evidence to explain why both a unication-based feature
system and a constraint-based modality system are needed for a lexicalist framework.
An implementation of our system is also presented.

O corpo no autismo e na esquizofrenia / The body in autisme and in schizophreniaBialer, Marina Martins 10 July 2012 (has links)
Por outro lado, na Esquizofrenia, situo a inscrição do Outro, do significante do Outro, da marca do Gozo do Outro, mas não há a inscrição da ausência da marca do Outro necessária para sair do lugar de objeto do Gozo do Outro (consultar o restante na tese) / This work discusses autism and schizophrenia based on two key concepts of this thesis: the object (a) and the unary trait trait of the Other. We try to account for a unique relationship of the autist to the signifier, a failure to incorporate the primordial signifier of the Other. We distinguish the autistic, who has not incorporated the mark of the jouissance of the Other, who has not incorporated the primordial signifier, and the schizophrenic, who has incorporated the mark of the jouissance of the Other, but is not able to use established discourses to build his/her own body, to name his/her own body. There is the possibility of constructions around the Sxs+ jouissance to label, no name, instead of the discourses in default. We distinguish schizophrenia strategies through an effort of placement of jouissance by the letter, and autistic strategies through an effort of placement of jouissance on the rim, on the boards

Area Access Control Systems: Zone Management And Personnel TrackingNatarajan, Bharath 12 July 2005 (has links)
Area access control is defined as the process of mediating requests to enter a physical area through one or more entry points. Area access control database systems are the collections of information required for an access control system to access, query, retrieve and match real time user inputs with persistent data to ensure the integrity of the resources it protects. This thesis presents an object oriented approach to the design and implementation of a centralized area access control database system and focuses on two features, zone management and personnel tracking. Zone management is defined as the process of hierarchically relating a zone to other immediately adjacent zone(s) that a user is required to have prior access to. This feature will automatically generate all zones that a user requires prior access to in order to approach a target zone. To implement zone management, the database system is required to support recursive relationships and recursive querying. The personnel-tracking feature allows the administrator to obtain information such as the movement of persons of interest and their interactions with others in the installation at any particular time. The results of this thesis contribute to the implementation of a sophisticated area access control database system capable of handling multiple installations, and generating the access rules and paths for each new user automatically. In addition, the object oriented area access control database system is able to support unconventional data types such as images and sound which are essential for emerging biometric security systems.

To Keep on Knowing More(?): Seminar XVILL, The Other Side of PsychoanalysisLowther, John 16 July 2009 (has links)
This is an explication of Lacan’s Seminar XVII. The introduction situates the Seminar in its time and in relation to other theories of discourse. In part one I examine the changes which it brings to a variety of ideas already known in Lacan’s oeuvre such as Jouissance, Master Signifier(s) and Oedipus. Part two looks the four discourses in detail after considering the positions common to each. I provide accounts of each discourse as taking place internally to a subject and between subjects. The coda examines areas where further research is possible, reviews and critiques some scholarship on this seminar and inquires into the use value of the discourse theory, both generally and as a means of getting beyond Lacan.

Le problème de job-shop avec transport : modélisation et optimisation / Job-shop with transport : its modelling and optimisationLarabi, Mohand 15 December 2010 (has links)
In this thesis we are interested in the extension of the job-shop problem by adding the constraint of transport of jobs between different machines. In this study we used two types of robots, robots with unary loading capacity (capacity =1 means that each robot can carry only one job at a time,) and robots with non unary loading capacities (robot with capacity >1 can carry more than one job at time). Thus, the first step is devoted to the problem of job-shop with several robots with unary loading capacity. In the second step we extend the problem by adding the non-unary loading capacities to the robots. For both problems studied we have proposed :• A linear modeling ;• A Disjunctive graph Model ;• Several constructive heuristics ;• Several local searches methods that improve the obtained solutions ;• Use of genetic / memetic algorithms as a global optimization schema ;• New benchmarks, test results of our approaches on our benchmarks and those present in the literature and these results are commented and compared with those of literature. The results show the relevance of our model and its quality.
