Proč se hráči větších turnajů domluví častěji než hráči menších turnajů? Případ dealů v pokeru / Why Do the Poker Players Deal More Often on High Stakes Than on Low Stakes Tournaments? Poker Deals Case.

Rytíř, Miroslav January 2014 (has links)
This thesis aplied tools of economic analysis on situation in poker, where players choose to finish tournament or make a deal and take certain amount of money immediately. Theoretical frame consists of economic theories for decesion under risk and poker literature. Hypotheses are tested with regresion analysis on dataset which I obtain by my own observing. Estimations support hypothesis that players are risk-averze and loss-averze. In bigger tournaments are bigger prizepools and that is the reason, why players in bigger tournament make deals more often. Moreover deal is more likely, when players are approximetly equal skilled in poker.

Searching for hidden treasure: The identification of under-represented gifted and talented students.

Tucker, Tammy Newman 08 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of staff development on the nomination and identification of culturally diverse and/or economically disadvantaged students for gifted programs. Teachers kindergarten through fifth grade from ten districts (N = 100) received 30 hours of staff development in gifted education. The experimental group (n = 50) received a specialized version of the training. The control group (n = 50) received the standard training provided by the Education Service Center. Teachers in the experimental group completed three Stages of Concern questionnaires at the beginning and end of the training and in the fall. Two Levels of Use interviews were also conducted, one in the fall and one in the spring. Innovation configurations were developed utilizing interview results. A repeated measures analysis of variance was conducted to determine differences in concerns of teachers over time. The results revealed growth, however, not of a significant level. A paired-samples t-test was conducted to determine differences in levels of use of the instructional strategies presented in the training. Again, results revealed growth in classroom application of strategies; however, the amount of growth was not significant. A paired-samples t-test was conducted on the components of the innovation configurations. Differentiated instruction was not significantly different, however, grouping strategies and student products showed significant growth in classroom application. Student nomination and identification data were analyzed across six ethnicities: White not economically disadvantaged, White economically disadvantaged, Hispanic not economically disadvantaged, Hispanic economically disadvantaged, African American not economically disadvantaged, and African American economically disadvantaged. Chi-square analyses determined statistical significance in nominations of Hispanic economically disadvantaged and African American not economically disadvantaged. Significant differences in placement of students occurred in White economically disadvantaged and Hispanic economically disadvantaged groups. No Hispanic not economically disadvantaged students met placement criteria.

De la gouvernance et du développement de la république du Bénin en vue de la Concorde (1960-2010) : échecs, enjeux et perspectives / Governance and development of the Republic of Benin for the concorde (1960-2010) : chess, problems and prospects

Gbechoevi, Alohoutadé Alexandre 05 December 2011 (has links)
The theme of governance and development for harmony in the Republic of Benin (1960-2010) allows us to understand that failures to the union or unit in Benin are already sprains to the unification. The Beninese has never managed to be sincere towards each other. The games of betrayal that existed between them since the days when the horrors of royal wars marked negatively all the warring parties have survived to modern times. And is the lack of mutual forgiveness for a sincere reconciliation which causes the tripped governance concerted and consistent in our country. This is a source of political and social instability. She developed behaviors that are tribal and ethnic mutate into excessive individualism among citizens albeit are the types of political regimes that we have achieved. However, no economy can prosper if it is against the true sense of fairness. This causes the underdevelopment of the Republic of Benin. The classical theories of economics ("growth first, then redistribution" of Lewis) fail. These so-Called extremists ("Redistribution first, then growth") fail as well as those covered by the models reformist ("distribution and redistribution or satisfaction of basic human needs ").We must therefore describe the prospects for improving the quality of human resources, economics, form of governance ... for harmony for the presidential term 2011-2016 and possible consequences of governance in the Republic of Benin.

Processos de decisão Markovianos fatorados com probabilidades imprecisas / Factored Markov decision processes with Imprecise Transition Probabilities

Karina Valdivia Delgado 19 January 2010 (has links)
When modeling real-world decision-theoretic planning problems with the framework of Markov Decision Processes(MDPs), it is often impossible to obtain a completely accurate estimate of transition probabilities. For example, uncertainty arises in the specification of transitions due to elicitation of MDP transition models from an expert or data, or non-stationary transition distributions arising from insuficient state knowledge. In the interest of obtaining the most robust policy under transition uncertainty, Markov Decision Processes with Imprecise Transition Probabilities (MDP-IPs) have been introduced. Unfortunately, while various solutions exist for MDP-IPs, they often require external calls to optimization routines and thus can be extremely time-consuming in practice. To address this deficiency, we introduce the factored MDP-IP and propose eficient mathematical programming and dynamic programming methods to exploit its structure. First, we derive eficient approximate solutions for Factored MDP-IPs based on mathematical programming resulting in a multilinear formulation for robust maximin linear-value approximations in Factored MDP-IPs. By exploiting factored structure in MDP-IPs we are able to demonstrate orders of magnitude reduction in solution time over standard exact non-factored approaches. Second, noting that the key computational bottleneck in the dynamic programming solution of factored MDP-IPs is the need to repeatedly solve nonlinear constrained optimization problems, we show how to target approximation techniques to drastically reduce the computational overhead of the nonlinear solver while producing bounded, approximately optimal solutions. Our results show up to two orders of magnitude speedup in comparison to traditional at dynamic programming approaches and up to an order of magnitude speedup over the extension of factored MDP approximate value iteration techniques to MDP-IPs while producing the lowest error among all approximation algorithm evaluated.

[en] REAL OPTIONS IN PROJECT FINANCE: AN OIL INDUSTRY APPLICATION / [pt] OPÇÕES REAIS EM PROJECT FINANCE: UMA APLICAÇÃO NA INDÚSTRIA PETROLÍFERA

RAFAEL MACHADO MENDES 24 July 2012 (has links)
[en] The Project Finance structures are increasingly being used to finance investment projects, especially for infrastructural projects. Therefore, a complex legal structure is used to ensure an appropriate allocation of risks to the project stakeholders. This project risk management is very important to ensure the financial viability and success of a structured finance, such as Project Finance. Now, analyzing the project from the economic point of view, a new approach for evaluating investment projects has been gaining strength in business companies and academy. That’s the Real Options theory which seeks to measure and value managerial flexibility which may arise during an investment project life cycle. Projects before unviable under the static view of investment analysis classical theory can become economically viable using this perspective. In Project Finance’s context can be regarded as real options contract terms (for certain guarantees of service), the project abandonment during its implementation, among others. In this sense, the dissertation presents a fictitious case modeling of a gas pipeline, analyzing the project s perspective with and without options. Thus, both methods were used: the analytical and Monte Carlo simulation.

Ďuriš, Samuel January 2020 (has links)
The subject of the master thesis is to verify the possibility of application of geodetic methods to determine longitudinal and transverse pavement surface roughnesses. Geodetic techniques are compared to techniques specified in ČSN 73 6175. Subject of testing is absolute and relative accuracy of altitude measurement and accuracy of roughness parameter determination. As a result, the graphic interpretation of these parameters and deviations from reference values are presented in the current document. Practical use of the surveying methods is evaluated based on the application of the above mentioned techniques and the results of accuracy analysis.

Processus Décisionnels de Markov pour l'autonomie ajustable et l'interaction hétérogène entre engins autonomes et pilotés / Markov Decision Processes for adjustable autonomy and heterogeneous interaction between autonomous and piloted robots

Lelerre, Mathieu 17 May 2018 (has links)
Robots will be more and more used in both civil and military fields. These robots, operating in fleet, can accompany soldiers in fight, or accomplish a mission while being supervised by a control center. Considering the requirement of a military operation, it is complicated to let robots decide their action without an operator agreement or watch, in function of the situation. In this thesis, we focus on two problematics:First, we try to exploit adjustable autonomy to make a robot accomplishes is mission as efficiency as possible, while he respects restrictions, assigned by an operator, on his autonomy level. For this, it is able to define for given sets of states and actions a restriction level. This restriction can force, for example, the need of being tele-operated to access a dangerous zone.Secondly, we consider that several robots can be deployed at the same time. These robots have to coordinate to accomplish their objectives. However, since operators can take the control of some robots, the coordination is harder. In fact, the operator has preferences, perception, hesitation, stress that are not modeled by the agent. It is then hard to estimate his next actions, so to coordinate with him. We propose in this thesis an approach to estimate the policy executed by a tele-operated robot from learning methods, based on observed actions from this robot. The notion of planning his important in these works. These are based on planning models, such as Markov Decision Processes.

Energetické právo České republiky / Energy Law of the Czech republic

Blahoudková, Gabriela January 2020 (has links)
Energy law of the Czech Republic Abstract The diploma thesis is devoted to the Energy law of the Czech Republic and its main purpose is to analyse the regulation of enterprise in the energy sectors under public law. The thesis concentrates mostly on the regulation under the Energy act, but it also reflects relevant regulation contained in other statutes, regulations, European Union legislation or international agreements. The thesis also reflects the consequences of the stated regulation for the enterprises performing business activities in the energy sector. For this purpose, the thesis distinguishes between various entities operating on the market with (i) electricity, (ii) gas and (iii) heating. Besides it also defines what preconditions individual subjects must meet to perform the activities in energy sector and what obligations the energy law imposes on them. In this context the thesis concentrates on the instruments of legal regulation used in this field, especially the licence, the certificate of independence and the state authorization for the construction of the power stations or some gas facilities. Moreover, the thesis compares stated legal tools with legal tools used abroad; in particular with legal tools used in the Slovak Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany that were chosen because of...

January 2005 (has links)
Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the incidence of stress among medical students of the Faculdade de Medicina de Marília (FAMEMA). This institution was chosen as it utilizes the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method of teaching, instead of the traditional one since 1997. The research subjects were four hundred and thirteen students, equivalent to 87.5% of all registered the students in 2003. Between April and October of this year was applied to the research subjects the Lipp's Inventory of Symptoms of Stress for Adults. It was observed the presence of stress on 57.83% the students. The prevalence of stress was minor in the sophomore students in relations to those of the other years, and these differences were significant. The prevalence of stress was higher on the female genus comparing to the male genus (p < 0.05). Of the students that presented stress 63.71% presented predominance of psychic symptoms, 24.05% physical symptoms, and 12.24% with no predominance. On the students that presented stress, 88.19% were on the resistance phase, 4.64% on the alert phase, 5.06% on the almost exhausted phase and 2.11% on the exhausted phase. These results suggest that the medical course is a stressor agent; even in a College that utilizes on its curriculum the PBL, as well as there is an association between the stress and the female genus. The results obtained in this research make us to considerer the possibility of acting on the medical teaching, giving conditions for the student to learn to struggle with the stress caused by the course, as the majority of the students still are on the resistance phase, consequently, without an installed disease. / Mestre
