Domácí příprava ve vysokoškolské výuce / Self studies at university level education

Charvátová, Anežka January 2021 (has links)
This diploma thesis aims to provide a rounded view of and information pertaining to the concept of individual preparation as part of a student's university education. The goal is to deliver wholesome theoretical materials in relation to individual preparation as part of a student's university education. The aim was to test the given hypothesis, which deal with the individual aspects of the individual preparation of university students. The work is split into a theoretical and practical section. The theoretical component covers definitions of concepts covering individual preparation as well as signposting university teaching itself. Further, it mentions teaching methods, feedback loops and the independence of the students themselves. These themes form the foundation of the practical section. The theoretical element has its basis in topical literature. The empirical section of the work stems from quantitative research, which defines how current individual preparation occurs in university students, whether it can be seen as typical for this type of education and whether there are any differences when it comes to considering degrees in either technical areas or the humanities. Data was gathered via questionnaires, which were then statistically analyzed. Respondents were approached randomly via the...

Traxler, Petra 31 May 2023 (has links)

Binnig, Christian, Eichhorn, Michael, Finster, Rebecca, Heitz, Robin, Köhler, Thomas, Markgraf, Daniel, Messemer, Heike, Robra- Bissantz, Susanne, Schade, Cornelia, Tillmann, Alexander 31 May 2023 (has links)
Knowledge of adolescents on abortion in Lagos University Teaching Hospital complex

Akinde, Elizabeth Nkugbo 11 1900 (has links)
The study sought to assess the knowledge of adolescents regarding abortion in a selected area in Lagos Nigeria. The researcher used a non-experimental, exploratory, descriptive research design for the study. One hundred adolescents participated in the study. The study found that many adolescents will not admit to having had an abortion. Moreover, the respondents gave different meanings for abortion, had inadequate knowledge of abortion and sexual and reproductive health. Cultural taboos and religious beliefs have a great impact on adolescents’ sexual behaviour. Most adolescents would not access abortions services because they regard it as killing an innocent baby. Efforts should be strengthened to make contraceptives and family life education available and accessible to the adolescents. / Health Studies / Thesis (M.A. (Health Studies))

Objectives: The main objective of this work is to evaluate university teaching according to the students´ view and, especially, to observe this evaluation reliability and to identity characteristics; personal and technical behavior of a good teacher . Casuistics and Method: A total of 43 students from the second grade of UNORP Psychology course in the year of 2005, and 25 professors of this course participated in the study. The choice for the group and professor to answer the questionnaire was made by draw. Descriptive method and a mixed model of quantitative and qualitative evaluation were used. The questionnaires were based on GRIDS Program, adapted to the setting where the investigation was performed. The questionnaires were self-applied for the students in the classroom without the presence of the researcher. The professors received them, answering and sending them freely later. Results: All the questions that have comprised the used instrument were considered relevant. The selfevaluation was coherent with the evaluation performed by the students. The teacher's evaluation by the students demonstrated to be well-defined and reliable. Conclusions: The characteristics of a good professor could be identified based on the questions such as the ability to transmit the objectives xi of the subject taught, their ability to organize the classes, to point out the relevance of the contents, constant updating, respectful and nice relationship, stimulus to questioning and inference formulation, to be on time and be diligent, coherence in learning evaluation and flexibility and opening to dialogue, competence, general culture, humility and availability to deal with the students, employees and friends. At last, this tool discusses the opinion of the professors and the students .about the students´ ability in evaluating adequately the professors. While 90% of the students have believed in their correct evaluation, only 69% of the professors have had similar opinion. The professor´ s selfevaluation was compared with the students´, and the results were considered very similar, suggesting a high index of congruence in the perception of both. Further studies with a greater number of professors could be performed to corroborate this research data.

Such study aims at bridging the gap between socio-historical theory, based on Vygotsky s works, and Education, field of studies and practices, to verify how a college professor reflects upon this theory to analyze her own practice. To achieve this goal, a research methodology capable of yielding critical reflection was necessary. So, the collaborative inquiry methodology developed by Maria Cecília Camargo de Magalhães at LAEL PUC/SP and the autoconfrontation method elaborated by Yves Clot from CNAM in Paris contributed a great deal to the methodological organization. The researcher and the professor - subject of this research - chose a suitable course among those being taught by her. After that, three classes were video recorded; three episodes were selected out of these classes, all of them pointing to fundamental aspects of the sociohistorical theory. After transcribing these episodes and elaborating questions for an interview, the professor watched the videos, answering a set of previously elaborated questions after each episode. This interview with the teacher was also filmed and it was the material used in the analysis. The analysis showed that socio-historical principles have room in universities and that both collaborative inquiry and autoconfrontation method allow professors to reflect critically upon their pedagogical activity, collaborating to the building of praxis / Esta pesquisa trata da relação entre teoria e prática pedagógica, mais especificamente o que conhecemos por Sócio-Histórica.

General Knowledge? The Roles of the New Zealand University in a Knowledge Society

Reid, Grant Horace John January 2006 (has links)
This thesis examines the roles of the New Zealand university in a knowledge society. Gaps in the literature of the New Zealand university in a contemporary context mean that the enquiry is informed by European and North American discussions of the educational requirements of a knowledge society. As the notions of the knowledge society and a liberal university education are both problematic and central to this enquiry, they are interrogated, in the second chapter, in some depth. A second review examines the work, recommendations and subsequent legislative outcomes of the Tertiary Education Advisory Commission (TEAC) policy process of 1999 to 2003. The principles of critical theory and critical policy scholarship inform these interpretative textual analyses. The two review chapters, which follow the introductory chapter, comprise the first part of the thesis. A description of the methodological framework employed throughout the project and a report of the findings of a survey of stakeholders follow. The discussion chapter comprises the third and final part of the thesis. The thesis seeks to distinguish the notion of the knowledge society from that of the neo-liberal approach to social and economic management. I argue that the notion of the knowledge society is viable in a range of socio-economic conditions. I suggest that the educational requirements of a knowledge society are better addressed when the scope of a university education is framed by holistic individual, social, and economic determinants, rather than rigid ideological imperatives such as those characteristic of neo-liberalism. A combination of qualitative and quantitative methodologies is employed. Primary data are gathered by way of a postal questionnaire. The perceptions of three cohorts of stakeholders of the New Zealand university are analysed using both statistical and interpretative tools. Data gathered through a review of the literature of the university in relation to the notion of the knowledge society in New Zealand, North America, and various European contexts are analysed using a combination of critical and interpretive approaches. The major finding to emerge from the enquiry is that stakeholders of the New Zealand university associate an effective university education with breadth of learning. The notion of a liberal university education, with its attendant beyond-vocation curriculum assumptions, is not considered anachronistic by the majority of stakeholders surveyed during this project. Public and private sector employers and university students strongly associate a liberal university education with effective preparation for participation in a knowledge-intensive environment. Year 13 secondary students are less certain. A secondary finding is that most stakeholders consider that the research activities of the university academic should continue to inform university teaching, but that the teaching role is of growing importance, and therefore worthy of greater emphasis, in the context of a knowledge society. The project is intended to provoke further discussion around the relationship between the New Zealand university and the knowledge society. To date there has been little academic consideration of this relationship. The contribution of this thesis, relative to this gap, is therefore significant.

Sousa, Waleska Dayse Dias de 29 September 2011 (has links)
The study discusses the identidy of teachers in medical scholl at the Federal University of Triangulo Mineiro UFTM and its chances of professionalization based on the analysis of four elements present in the environment: university expansion, curriculum experiences, working conditions and experience of teaching medicine. The proprosed objectives were: analyse the role of teachers in the historical, political and social setting of creation of the medical scholl at UFTM, analyse the possible relationships betweeen medical curriculum and teacher identities, learn about the working conditions of teachers in the institucion and recognize possibilities for the professionalization of teaching from the experiencemedicine faculty. We had as reference for analysis the scientific production in the área, documents that portray the institucion s history , laws and guidelines related to higher education and medicine courses. Part of the data was obtained from the teachers of the course, through an identification questionnaire and reflective interviews. The analysis indicated that the identity of medicine teachers is little revealed in the process of expansion experienced by UFTM, being most obvious the expression of the doctor. The social recognition of medicine as a Field of knowledge is evidenced, and due to its prestigie in the institucion, also built by historical conditions, political and economic factors that favor its domain. With regard to experiences in medical schol curriculum, it was realized that the concept of curruculum experienced in the course has a flexnerian inherintance model, focused on specialization and fragmentation of knowledge and in the hospital as the main scenario for training. Working conditions of medicine teachers are considerad inadequate for a quality teacher performance, especially caused by several everyday difficulties in the institucion. The experience of the faculty of medicine indicated that, although there is no consensus about the various roles attributed to them, either by themselves or by others, undermining their Professional identity, teachers recognize the need for specific training for teaching, even if their most important reference is the didactics training offered during post-graduate program. As final considerations, the research indicated that medicine teachers of UFTM are part of the first hegemonic goup at the institucion. They recognize themselves as teachers, although still far from a professional perspective. Teaching in medicine is identified with the domain of technical and scientific knowledge of the area, silencing specificities related to teaching. Nevertheless, medicine teachers recognize the need for teacher training, but do not accomplish this because their working conditions compel them to choose for other activities, more urgent and with more valued wages. A policy of techer training at UFTM, approved by the enhancement of teaching and by metodologies that transform practice into suject of discussion and exploration of elements of the educational process, may be indicative of strengthening teachers s Professional identidy.

A inserção das questões ambientais no curso de Licenciatura em Química da Universidade Federal de Sergipe / The insertion of environmental issues in the course of degree in Chemistry at the Federal University of Sergipe / La inserción de las cuestiones ambientales en el curso de la licenciatura en Química en la Universidad Federal de Sergipe

Pitanga, Ângelo Francklin 17 August 2015 (has links)
The current economic system began in the mid-twentieth century to present unsustainability signals due to the realization of various externalities that go beyond the destruction and depletion of natural resources. In this scenario, the chemical-industrial activity due to its polluting action and some world level disaster is being questioned and required a new attitude towards the issues surrounding the care and preservation of the environment. In this context, this thesis aimed to investigate how environmental issues - Environmental Problems, Green Chemistry, Sustainable Development and Environmental Education - are being inserted in the course of degree in Chemistry offered by the Federal University of Sergipe on the campus of São Cristóvão. To this end, we sought to identify the concepts, methods and practices adopted by teachers. The Qualitative Research and interpretive served as the theoretical north in order to analyze in depth the research universe. In data collection were used: Documents and interviews analysis of semi-structured screen in the course teachers. In the analysis of the results there have based on the Textual Analysis Discourse. In order to meet the rigors and the internal validity of the research, the triangulation method was used so that the inferences and interpretations of the results guarantee the quality of the research. The diagnosis of curricular analysis was carried out by reference to the criteria proposed by the network Environmentalisation Curricular for Advanced Studies, pointing to an innovative curriculum that seeks to meet the legal requirements, but when broken down into its curriculum components, we see a low structure flexible where environmental issues are poorly covered. Regarding the analysis categories investigated, it is observed by teachers that treatment of environmental problems is limited to the development of their laboratory activities, micro context. An understanding of sustainable development that is widely criticized. And behaviorists views on environmental education. Generally that appear as anthropocentric conceptions, based on a technical-instrumental rationality, where technical solutions are sufficient to enable the current problems. Regarding the Green Chemistry, there are certain ignorance associated with its principles and philosophy, and their ideas framed in the developmental chain or pragmatic macro trend. The data collected both in research as in the references point out that the way they operated, the Green Chemistry is a rationalization instrument that could end up collaborating in maintaining the interests of hegemonic groups. As for the methods and practices have been reported the use of pedagogical interventions that encourage participation and the construction of knowledge by the students, however, is still marked concern about the transmission of disciplinary scientific content.
