Student Response Systems in a classroom context for teaching mathematics : A designoriented research study for generating and collecting teacher knowledge and experiences / Student-responssystem i klassrummet för matematiklärande : En designorienterad forskningsstudie för att generera och samla in kunskap och erfarenhet

Westerlund, Ella Klara January 2022 (has links)
This study has gathered insights and knowledge of Student Response Systems (SRS) within mathematics teaching in a classroom context to serve as inspiration for future research and design. Using Research through Design together with Participatory design methodologies, it has gathered qualitative data directly from end users, mathematics teachers. Focusing on the teachers’ perspectives and letting them assume the roles of co-designers, a design and prototype was created for increasing ease of assessment of student understanding. Utilising the prototype as a probe, further knowledge and implications were gathered. Four key points are outlined and discussed: (1) formative assessment, (2) input functionality, (3) Audience Engagement Platforms as a supplement to other teaching materials and (4) anonymity in the classroom. Adjacent areas and their implications for future research are also discussed.

Sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda patieter med sepsis : En kvalitativ litteraturstudie / Nurses' experiences of caring for patients with sepsis : A qualitative literature study

Larsson, Malin, Komugisha, Ester January 2023 (has links)
Background: Sepsis is a life-threatening condition characterized by organ dysfunction of the body’s response to an infection. Sepsis can be difficult to identify early because of its diffuse symptom of which can be misinterpreted. Therefore, it is important for nurses to possess a solid foundation of knowledge regarding sepsis in order to minimize patient suffering.  Aim: To describe nurses’ experiences of caring for patients with sepsis in a healthcare setting.   Method: A literature study with a qualitative approach. Polit and Beck’s nine-step model was used. CIHNAL, PubMed and Medline databases were used to collect the twelve original articles chosen and analysed using thematic analysis.   Results: Two themes and four subthemes emerged from the results. Under the theme of nurses gathered knowledge, the subthemes were: Practical and theory and the use of sepsis bundles and assessment tools. The second theme was Nurses' experiences of the work environment, with subthemes: stress and high workload and teamwork and communication. Conclusion: Patients who develop sepsis risk high mortality and morbidity after sepsis. Further research is needed into how nurses view their own knowledge and further development in order to promote health in these patients. Continued research regarding nurses' attitudes and experiences is needed to improve and develop care and nursing care for patients who have sepsis.

Inclusive Education for Refugees and Asylum Seeking Children : A Systematic Literature Review / Inclusief Onderwijs voor Vluchtelingen en Asielzoekende Kinderen : Een Systematisch Literatuuronderzoek

Dijkshoorn, Anna January 2016 (has links)
BACKGROUND In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of children with a refugee background in the Netherlands. All of these children who are under 18 years of age must go to school, but they face many barriers towards inclusion. Appropriately educating this diverse group of children presents schools with challenges. Supportive programs are needed to overcome these barriers and challenges. AIM The aim of this paper was to explore what supports are put in place to foster refugee students’ inclusion in school. METHOD A systematic literature review was conducted to synthesize research on school-based programs and practices. RESULTS A broad range of supports were identified. Most studies addressed access barriers to learning by offering emotional and educational support, while fewer studies focused on opportunity barriers such as negative attitudes and lack of parental involvement. CONCLUSION It was concluded that schools can play an important role in supporting the inclusion of refugee children and their families because of their accessibility, but that more high quality research is necessary in order to assess the effectiveness of supports that minimize barriers towards learning and promote their inclusion in school.
