"När vi bygger nytt planerar vi rätt" : En studie om klimatanpassningsarbetet i Skånes kustkommuner utifrån ett tjänstemannaperspektiv

Swärd, Julia, Ekberg, Linn January 2020 (has links)
The climate changes come with effects as increased rainfall and rising sea levels, which increases the risk for flooding, something that municipalities must consider in their spatial planning. This interview study aims to create an understanding of how coastal municipalities in southern Sweden work with climate adaption of waterfront buildings from the municipal officials' perspective. The purpose is to investigate how the municipals officials describe what type of challenges and opportunities there are when planning these areas. The aim is to examine how to understand the working process from a resilience perspective and how resilience can be implemented in the planning of waterfront areas. The findings show that municipalities implement resilience by adapting new waterfront buildings for climate change. However, they have found it difficult to adapt the already existing buildings. Finally, politics has a major role for the municipal officials' ability to work proactively and long-term with climate adaption.

Redeveloping waterfronts : A study in planning strategies, waterfronts and heritage

Tellow, Katarina January 2020 (has links)
Redeveloping centrally located waterfronts took of properly in the late 1990’s. Before that, the old brownfields were left untouched for years, often resulting in the connection between them and the city centre worsening. The thesis aims to explore strategies and approaches for waterfront developments. This was done by analysing the strategies used whilst planning the following three sites; Västra Hamnen in Malmö, Nordhavn in Copenhagen and Cardiff Bay in Cardiff. In addition to this, a waterfront site in Gothenburg was chosen and used to put the theoretical discoveries into practice. The theoretical foundation is made up of a literature and document study, where the three case studies and the designated site acted as the main topics of research along with general information about waterfronts and architectural and cultural heritage. The case studies were analysed using a combination of field studies and a literature study. A matrix consisting of ten columns and four rows was created and used as a base for analysing the approaches of the three cities. The site analysis was done with the help of a document study and field study. Both field studies were executed using the method of walk-throughs. The thesis resulted in six suggestions for future actions when redeveloping waterfronts as well as an urban framework proposal. The results are meant to work as a basis for future projects.

Brněnské nábřeží - rehabilitace brněnských řek a jejich blízkého okolí / Brno waterfront - rehabilitation of rivers and their surrounding areas

Vrána, Adam January 2017 (has links)
The aim of the assignment was to rehabilitate the area of the Brno embankment of the river Svitava and the nearby surroundings of the river. This is the modification of the river's seashore, the modification of public spaces and the completion of individual objects. The solved territory is defined in the east and north of Cejl streets, on the east of the Svitava river and on the south by Tkalcovska street. The principles of the proposal are based on the necessary changes to the territory. The biggest problem of the area is the area backups for the hypermarket parking lot and the urbanistically incoherent structure of the courtyards and the poorly functioning waterfront. The proposal focuses on making the river accessible and bringing water closer to people. On the waterfront the bicycle path is used not only by cyclists. The former hypermarket is converted into a shopping mall and the ground floor of the seafront is made up of shops, services, cafes and restaurants. For humans, a river was available that could touch water. For relaxation and recreation, the terraces are provided. Better permeability also offers the river itself. By modifying the footbridge and delivering a new footbridge in the middle part, pedicists and cyclists can better cross the river. The park and the reclamation of planted trees have been modified. The Svitavy Drive in the section of the park was also accessible by foot. The siding was preserved to a certain extent in order to be able to prepare a wagon with a café or other possibilities of the Svitava festival under the steam. The construction of new houses increases the attractiveness of the area itself and offers both flats overlooking the river with the dominant of the church as well as services in the workshops of the individual houses. Cejl street has a green and a plumbing and a missing pit. Transparency for people is from the weft loom on the waterfront through the park, business or residential street.Residential homes have ma

Brněnské brownfieldy u řeky Svitavy / Brno brownfields by the Svitava river

Muzikář, Vladimír January 2018 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with urban studies on the territory of Svitavy river in Brno-Husovice. Part of the solved territory is defined as a brownfield - specifically, it is a former Zetor site. New backbone roads are proposed in the defined area, new residential complexes that integrate the area into the surrounding area. In the north of the proposed area, I propose the Park & Ride Park House at the large city ring road in Brno. The proposal also includes the creation of recreational areas - near the embankment, a city park is set up near the Provazníkova road. An interesting feature is the creation of a public space shielded from traffic.

Obnova a revitalizace přírodního potoka Ponávky ve městě Brně / Restoration and revitalization of natural creek Ponávka in Brno

Roleček, Jakub January 2015 (has links)
Nowadays water in Brno is mostly packaged in plastic bottles. Is there any opportunity to give the habitant of Brno reminiscence of 19th century urban atmosphere, so-called "Little Venice"? The river as live element brings movement to the static topography. Today its feature in cities is certanly required as a city-forming maker, the basic topographical landmark. A suitable factor in creating boundaries. Boundary that divides, combines, defines, orients. It divides the dense building structure of the city and delivers the necessary cleanup, space for relaxing and meeting. After a thorough analysis of Brno streams were defined areas of interest. It has become the resolution of the diploma thesis, which should be a starting guide for restoration and interconnection of watercourses to everyday life of citizens in the city of Brno. Best idea became a resumption of the creek Ponávka. The project aims to return not only Ponávka itself from Brno's underground, but also a return to medieval ideals due to a water feature on the city streets.

Sportovně rekreační centrum Vsetín, Ohrada / Sports and Relaxation Centre Vsetín, Ohrada

Zifčáková, Tatiana January 2021 (has links)
The topic of this master's thesis is the revitalization of the former Spartakiad stadium. Nowadays it functions as a sports complex Ohrada, which is in neglected condition and not widely used. The area is located at the southern edge of the city Vsetín and is defined by a 1st class road from the northeast, Vsetínská Bečva from the western and agricultural areas from the southern side. Above Bečva, the Bečevná hill rises and together they create a pleasant, out-of-town atmosphere with a great potential. The priority of the proposal was to create an attractive place with a variety of sports and recreational activities for all ages. However, at the beginning it was necessary to somehow insulate the area from the overpass. Therefore a sports and recreation facility was designed at the entrance to the area - it copies the shape of the road and forms an imaginary entrance gate to the zone. A car park was designed under the overpass, so the rest of the area remained exclusively for pedestrians. Sufficient distances among the individual sports grounds are supplemented by recreational areas of greenery. Most playgrounds are designed as multi-purpose, for greater variability of the territory. The buildings have a maximum of two floors and they are located in a way not to disturb the views of the recreational areas. They contain sports facilities as well as a wide range of interior activities. Three materials are used on all the buildings - wood, steel and glass, complemented by neutral white plaster. Therefore, the area operates in a comprehensive and uniform manner.

THE WALKABLE CITY: ALONG THE EDGE OF STOCKHOLM. Developing the edge to reconnect a former industrial site to the city

Albertini, Vittoria January 2014 (has links)
Stockholm is an archipelago of islands connected by water that historically has been an important resource for the city and for the industries, which found an easy access for ships and therefore they settled on strategic positions along the edges. This thesis investigates the topics of water, industrial heritage and edges in the city of Stockholm: these aspects are strong in their individual identity but they also interact in a powerful and interesting way. This work intervenes where this pattern is still visible -due to the presence of water and industries- but not accessible because it lacks the third element of connection with the city. The aim is therefore to investigate strategies that increase and reconnect the potential of these aspects that got disconnected through time. To obtain accessibility and usability, the edge was transformed and redefined to enhance the experience of walking along it. An analysis was carried out and a proposal was designed for the site of Lövholmen, which has these characteristics -the water, a strong industrial heritage and proximity to the city- that are now disconnected. The opening of the edge and possibilities of walking will transform and reconnect the site - and the richness in it- with the city of Stockholm.
