Představitelé venkovských elit na jihu Čech v 18. a 19. století. Společenská role křestních kmotrů a svědků svatebních obřadů. / Representatives of rural elites in South Bohemia in 18. and 19. century. Social role of godparents and witnesses of wedding ceremonies.

PFLEGEROVÁ, Lucie January 2011 (has links)
Purpose of the following work is to put near not only concrete course of wedding and baptismal ceremonies in provincial environment, it has also show of what role at these ceremonies played their immediate participants ? godfathers and wedding witnesses. Basic characteristic of all the sample recorded persons would be enable to answer questions if within small rural sociality existed its elite part which had fundamental share on its behaviour. The most important origin for research of this theme were church registers which for any single event namely recorded participation of the witness of baptism or marriage, his socio-profession position and geographical origin. Important role then played fact what particular requirements lay then society on men participating thus especial events. It was also explored question to what degree is possible thru godparents and wedding witnesses to peep into mentality and behaviour then rural sociality. Rating socio-vocational submission and place of origin of these persons emerged that the choice of witness of baptism or marriage wasn't casual and underlay to many established habits and rules. Especially at choice of godparents was more than evident that the important factor were to be familiar and well-disposed relationships within closest surroundings of every person. To men witnessing by weddings was distinctive their good property and social background, decisive role at selection of wedding witness also played possibility of representation newly married couple and their families in the eyes of others neighbours. By approach particular persons which postured in roles of witnesses or godparents most frequently was confirmed that also in rural environment subsisted small range of individuals which is possible to characterize as a local top of society. By setting this top of society into the total context allowed to achieve if and to what degree this very narrow group of inhabitants was segregate from the others. In terms of this research was more likely confirmed that the rural man was limited more by geographical than social territory. On the basis of informations about persons participating on baptisms or weddings is possible to assume that the individual parts of society were interconnected through a number of hidden familiar and friendly structures which were fundamental to its behaviour.

Carvalho, Diana Lúcia Teixeira de 28 August 2012 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2015-04-16T14:48:57Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 1960167 bytes, checksum: 3d93e0d5eab84698cc9fadd4476cdf37 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-08-28 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The objective of this study is to characterize the wedding consumption performed by women, during the liminal transition concerning the rite of passage, to identify emerging vulnerabilities that affect this consumption relation. In this way, theories were approached regarding the concepts of the consumer vulnerability, conspicuous consumption, consumption of rituals and liminal transition, to contextualize the relations between the wedding and possible experiences of vulnerable consumption, which resulted in a conceptual model of research. The adopted methodology was oriented by the interpretative paradigm with the use of qualitative approach. The chosen method was the videography, through individual interviews, primer technique, and observational videography, complementary and partially, which provide the combination of discourses about the consumption related to the wedding, seeking to understand the experiences of vulnerability, with the observations of the consumption situations experienced. Therefore, eleven women were interviewed, of which four were followed in certain interactions with providers. Subsequently, the transcriptions of the interviews and dialogs between the brides and the providers resulted in the following dimensions, based on the conceptual model of research: the wedding and the vulnerability of the brides in the consumption of the wedding rites. In every dimension are presented interrelated categories which were a result from the analyzed discourses based on discourse analysis. The results of this research indicate that experiences of vulnerability occur when the brides do not understand their preferences, which often make them unable to act on behalf of them. It is evidenced that the relations among the symbolic consumption, conspicuous consumption, consumption of rituals influence possible relations of vulnerable consumption and that the women emotional state is connect to the liminal transition during the wedding rite of passage. Nevertheless, the brides are not inert to situations of vulnerability, since it is possible to observe responses such as negotiation, adaptation and conformation.

An Urban Pastoral Wedding: The Influence and Development of Coterie Poetics in American Avant-Garde Poetry

January 2012 (has links)
abstract: This dissertation makes the case to reclaim the typically negative term, coterie, as a poetic method and offers the epithalamium as a valuable object for the study of coterie conditions and values. This examination of the historical poetics of the epithalamium shows how the form was reappropriated by gay postwar poets and those in related social circumstances. This study applies and builds on theories developed by Arthur Marotti (John Donne: Coterie Poet), and Lytle Shaw (Frank O'Hara: The Poetics of Coterie) and subsequent critics to develop a coterie poetics, the markers and terms for which I have arranged here to demonstrate conscious "sociable" poetics. It is thus to our advantage to study coterie conditions and methods to open readers to insights into twentieth-century poets that have deliberately exploited reception among those in private and public spheres, just as their Early-Modern precursors did--often as a matter of survival, but also as formative practice. The key figures in this study wrote significant epithalamia or made major theoretical claims for coterie poetics: John Donne (1572-1631), W. H. Auden (1907-1973), Paul Goodman (1910-1972), and Frank O'Hara (1926-1966). O'Hara's poetry is approached as the apex of coterie poetics; his personal immediacy and obscure personal references should alienate and exclude--yet, they invite. / Dissertation/Thesis / Ph.D. English 2012

Tvorba aplikace pro podporu destination event managementu / Implementation of an application supporting destination event management

Žáková, Andrea January 2017 (has links)
This master thesis is a follow-up to my bachelor thesis which deals with analysis and design of web application for a company Wedding in Prague Inc. Area of interest for this master thesis is a review of analysis and design of application and its implementation. The main aim of the thesis is to create an online wedding application for this company that organizes and plans weddings. The applications purpose is to provide an optimal informatics support for priority processes of the company. To achieve the aim, it was necessary to review analysis of the application including a review of requirements. And because of the scale of these requirements it was necessary to prioritize these requirements. After that I did a review of original design and then I implemented and tested priority functionality of the application. This topic was chosen because the company needed informatics support of existing processes and needed to provide its customers with wedding pages. These wedding pages will be used for wedding administration and providing wedding participants with information about oncoming wedding. Because no suitable application was found on market it was necessary to develop this application. Firstly, the thesis includes a definition of a destination event management and a description of companys processes. After that there is a review of requirements, use case diagrams and a design of user interface. The next chapter focuses on a review of an application design. This includes class diagram, component diagram and a database design. Chapter after that includes implementation of application using framework ASP.NET and it also includes testing cases for this application. The last chapter includes a user manual which describes the functionality of the applications. Contribution of this thesis is to implement and to test a web application which includes a priority functionality (60% of all functionality). This enables easy administration of all organized weddings. Also, it will help expand reputation of the company.

Jangwa music and musical performance by the Manyika people of Zimbabwe

Mugandani, Viola Nyemudzai January 2016 (has links)
Jangwa music is traditional to the Manyika people of Zimbabwe. The Manyika are a sector of the Shona people, occupying a portion of Manicaland Province in the eastern part of Zimbabwe. African societies carefully craft songs for different contexts to serve a functional and educational purpose. The aim of the study was to explore the origin and the structure of jangwa music, the sociological and social psychological functions of the music and its performance, as well as its aesthetic values among the Manyika people. The study utilised focused ethnographical methods. A large group of elderly Manyika people with extensive knowledge and experience who were purposively selected acted as key informants. Data collection strategies included participant and non-participant observation during jangwa music performances, as well as in-depth individual and focus-group interviews. The study employed content analysis and selected songs were transcribed in staff notation using Crescendo Music Notation Software for analysis purposes. The outcomes of the study reveal some form of acculturation in the origin and structure of the music resulting in the music being a contemporary choral music. While some of the songs are for school sporting events, others are to demonstrate pride in teachers, community leaders and natural features within the Manyika region. However, the findings reveal that the majority of jangwa songs are for wedding and marriage ceremonies. Most of the wedding songs focus on the role of brides and married women as a whole, signifying the pivotal role they play within the Manyika society, yet a glimpse of the male roles are heard. In all the contexts, jangwa music contributes in uplifting the sociological and social psychological well-being of performers and audience members. For the Manyika people, the function of jangwa music takes precedence in its aesthetical values. Considering the diminishing of African musical arts, the study recommends the ethno-musicological use of jangwa music in informal and formal education in Zimbabwe for the promotion of indigenous knowledge systems. Jangwa song lyrics convey the distinctive values, virtues, and life skills of the Manyika people, and are therefore inextricably bound to the indigenous fabric and context-specific utilitarian purposes of the music. / Thesis (DMus)--University of Pretoria, 2016. / Music / DMus / Unrestricted

Dressed like a bride : Being utklädd - performativity and etiquette in the Swedish wedding dress

Jansson, Isabelle January 2021 (has links)
This thesis investigates the wedding dress in the 21st century in Sweden. Interviews provided the main material for the analysis of the wedding dress and its connotations. Erving Goffman’s theory on performances in everyday life and Efrat Tsëelon’s thoughts on modesty connected to the female body is used as a theoretical framework in this thesis. The wedding dress is also analyzed as an object, and thoughts from material culture are implemented when discussing the cultural connotations of the dress. The wedding dress is only worn during the wedding ceremony, and it evokes thoughts on performances and identity due to cultural values and expressions that the bride either identifies with or not. Being dressed as a bride is deemed less authentic than being dressed in everyday clothes and is compared to a masquerade garment. The Swedish word utklädd, which means being dressed out in different ways, is a common factor and description of wearing a wedding dress in Sweden in the 21st century.
