Design souboru aktivit podporujících well-being vysokoškolských učitelů / The design of kit of activities promoting well-being of university teachers

Brlicová, Natalie January 2021 (has links)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to create a set of activities for university teachers that will have the potential to improve the working life of teachers and overall, well-being. The theoretical part of the thesis contains knowledge about well-being, its determinants, sources, but also well-being in connection with health. The next part of the theoretical part deals with the issue of personal change of well-being, how an individual can positively and negatively affect well-being. Furthermore, the theoretical part includes the topics of well-being in the workplace and creating a healthy work environment. In the last and one of the most important chapters of the theoretical part, the issue of well-being in university teachers is discussed, what shapes and influences his well-being. In the practical part there is a design of set of activities to improve well-being of university teachers. These activities are created on the basis of a search of professional literature. The practical part consists of two main parts. The first part contains suggestions for activities to improve the well-being of the university teachers, which the university teacher himself includes in his work life and personal life. In the second part, activities are also reaching to the improvement of well-being of university...

Malo, Marie 06 1900 (has links)
While psychological health at work is gaining attention from academics and practitioners, certain aspects of the phenomenon need deeper exploration. Notably, scant research has examined individual functioning in the workplace; the majority of studies focused on subjective experiences related to psychological well-being and distress instead. Moreover, little is known about the mechanisms underlying psychological health at work. These shortcomings result in a partial understanding of the construct. In light of these observations, the present thesis aims to develop a model of psychological health at work, integrating indicators of employee functioning. To achieve this goal, five studies divided into two articles were conducted using four independent samples (Article 1: NA = 296, NB = 350, NC = 139; Article 2: NB = 330, NC = 128; ND = 389). The first article proposes a conceptualization and a measurement of individual functioning at work. Building on organizational socialization literature and on conservation of resources theory (Hobfoll, 1989, 2001), we conceptualize cognitive adjustment as a psychological health indicator. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, as well as reliability, temporal invariance and regression analyses, confirm the psychometric qualities of the instrument and support the validity of cognitive adjustment at work as, indeed, an indicator of psychological health. Drawing from the conceptualization of employee functioning reported in the first article, the second article tests a model of psychological health at work. Based on conservation of resources theory (Hobfoll, 1989, 2001), psychological health at work is conceptualized as a process, which includes four indicators, namely psychological well-being, psychological distress, cognitive adjustment, and behavioural stress responses at work. Two distinct mechanisms are put forward explaining the relations between positive indicators (i.e., psychological well-being and cognitive adjustment), and the relations between negative indicators (i.e., psychological distress and behavioural stress responses). Path and cross-cultural invariance analyses acknowledge both mechanisms, and demonstrate that, beyond the impact of job demands, psychological well-being exercises a mediating effect on the positive relations between personal (i.e., optimism and resilience) and organizational (i.e., work climate) resources, and cognitive adjustment at work. Results also highlight that psychological distress mediates the negative relations between the same resources and behavioural stress responses at work. A general discussion covers in deeper details the implications of the findings emanating from both articles.

Ngoya, Justin 02 1900 (has links)
The goal of this study is to contribute to an improved understanding of the professional development (PD) of postsecondary teachers and its link to psychological well-being at work (PWBW). Several studies have shown that numerous personal (knowledge and skill development, attitudes, teacher beliefs, etc.) and professional (professional experience, collaborative exchanges, educational practices, and key student results) factors can have a considerable influence on PD. More specifically, this study will describe the attitudes of teachers who foster their PD, explore the relationship between teachers’ professional experiences and their PWBW, and identify PWBW indicators and their interrelation with PD. To meet these objectives, we began exploratory research with teachers (n=218) in three French-language CEGEP colleges in Montreal. A questionnaire on the Psychological Well-Being at Work Index (PWBWI) comprised of 25 questions (Dagenais-Desmarais, 2010) was submitted online via Survey Monkey. A principal components factor analysis revealed that the teachers’ PWBW was made up of five factors: fulfillment at work, interpersonal compatibility, feelings of competence, desire to get involved, and perceived recognition at work. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, after which we proceeded to qualitative cross-sectional (n=12) and vertical (n=2) case analyses. The results showed that teachers’ attitudes affect their knowledge and skill development, educational practices, collaborative exchanges, and perceptions regarding key student results. It also appears that professional experience affects various PWBW factors. For example, extensive professional experience is associated with strong feelings of competence and a desire to get involved, but also with low levels of fulfillment and perceived recognition at work. We can therefore conclude that direct correlations exist between PD and PWBW. In addition, there is a link between teachers’ attitudes towards teaching and the personal and professional factors that affect PD, hence the importance of considering teachers’ attitudes as a vital PD factor. Teachers’ professional experience is another important factor to consider in the college context, particularly for improving the PWBW necessary for teacher PD. Finally, four different PD profiles according to PD and PWBW levels have been identified (Aware-Fixed, Aware-Reserved, Aware-Active, and Perfectionist), and the results of our mixed analyses demonstrated a correlation between teachers’ PD and their PWBW.

Prise en compte de la fatigue des opérateurs dans la modélisation et la simulation des systèmes de production / Taking workers' fatigue into account in modelling and simulation of manufacturing systems

Ferjani, Aicha 22 February 2019 (has links)
The quick development of information technology in the factory of the future requires rethinking about the organization of production systems. Although the importance of the workers in the industry 4.0, human factors are still insufficiently taken into consideration in the organizational methods. Simulation is among the methods widely used to study production systems and evaluate their performances. However, the existing simulation approaches and the available softwares mainly focus on technical dimensions of these systems (machines, transport, priority rules, etc.). Unfortunately, human factors, particularly workers’ fatigue, seem to be very insufficiently taken into account in the simulation models. In this context, this thesis aims to study how the workers’ fatigue could be integrated into the simulation models of workshops. A framework combining different modelling paradigms is proposed to help in designing such models. Discrete event simulation is used to describe the dynamic of the working process in workshops. The paradigm of intelligent agent is used to model operators and integrate their behavior of fatigue, which has been modeled using continuous simulation paradigms. We have also used fuzzy logic in order to characterize the arduousness’s factors, known imprecisely, and impacts on the evolution of the workers’ fatigue. We have shown how the proposed framework can be implemented can be implemented generically enough with the software ANYLOGIC. The proposed approach has been then used to address two different production problems: the first one concerns the dynamic assignment of workers to machines and the second is related to the machines layout in the design stage of the system. This illustrated the utility of the proposed approach and showed its relevance. The analysis of the simulation results yields some knowledge on both the performance of the systems and on trends of the evolution the operators’ fatigue during the work. Such results help to thank on how to improve the methods of organization and management of the workshops so to contribute to the improvement of their performances and the well-being of their operators.

Dagenais-Desmarais, Véronique 03 1900 (has links)
Despite growing concern by researchers and practitioners about psychological health at work, the concept of well-being in the workplace is still misunderstood in the scientific community. Indeed, little effort has been made to develop knowledge about psychological well-being at work that is tied to the reality of employees. This thesis aims at developing a conceptualization of psychological well-being at work and a related psychometrically reliable instrumentation. To do so, two studies were carried out. First, an exploratory qualitative study was conducted among 20 French-speaking Canadian workers to identify, using critical incidents they experienced, manifestations of psychological well-being. The manifestations were classified according to a 2-axis model, namely, the reference level at which psychological well-being at work is experienced and the directionality through which it emerges. This model was then compared to existing context-free conceptualizations of psychological well-being; this analysis offered support to the model's convergent and divergent validity. Second, the Index of Psychological Well-Being at Work (IPWBW) was created based on the manifestations identified in the qualitative study, in order to ensure the latter’s content validity. An experimental form of the questionnaire was administered to 1,080 Quebec workers. Exploratory factor analyses revealed an internal structure of 25 items and 5 dimensions, representing a second-order construct. The construct validity of the model was established by analyzing the intercorrelation pattern with various context-free measures of psychological well-being and distress. The results support the convergent validity of the instrument and demonstrate its divergent validity. Finally, the questionnaire shows satisfactory internal consistency. By way of conclusion, the results of the two studies are interpreted in the light of current knowledge on psychological well-being; the limits of the studies are outlined; and avenues for future research are proposed.

At the core of the current studies on human behaviour and its relations with the various institutions in which man can be seen inserted include efforts aimed at understanding the role and value of the contribution of human beings to working environment and strengthening of organizations. Increasing have shown the concern and understanding about the factors that impact the general welfare, the well-being at work, workers' health and emotional variables from interpersonal relations common to the whole social body. The combination of emerging themes and rich in significance as well-being at work, satisfaction and involvement with the work, organizational commitment affective, emotions, affections and feelings, point out as a wide field and instigating the search for a broader adaptation of organizational environment to human being. This study aimed to submit to test the empirical relationship between emotional experiences in the organizational context and three dimensions of well-being at work - satisfaction at work, involvement with the organizational work and emotional commitment. The sample was composed of 253 employees of a metallurgical industry of the great Sao Paulo, 213 males and 29 females, most at the age between 26 to 30 years old, distributed between unmarried and married. For data collection it was used a questionnaire for self-fulfillment with four scales that evaluated positive and negative affects, satisfaction at work, involvement with the organizational work and emotional commitment. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS, version 16.0 and various sub-programs that led to calculate descriptive analyses and multiple regression analysis for evaluating the impact of positive and negative affects on well-being at work. The results of this study revealed that the main predictor of the dimensions of well-being at work were the positive affects. Thus, it seems appropriate to say that well-being at work is a psychological state supported particularly by the experience of positive emotions in organizational context. It is suggested that the promotion of health and well-being within organizations are hotbeds of future studies, representing valuable contribution to the fields of knowledge of the psychology of health and organizational psychology, and the consequent strengthening of links between business and workers.(AU) / Em ambiente de elevada pressão, competição e necessidade de criação de diferenciais consistentes que venham contribuir com a longevidade das organizações, nota-se a busca e, às vezes, radicais transformações nos modelos de gestão de negócios e gestão do ser humano no meio empresarial.

Chiuzi, Rafael Marcus 30 June 2006 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-08-03T16:34:30Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 RAFAEL MARCUS CHIUZI.pdf: 450833 bytes, checksum: 5d9602b9c06d7f45f15a7cbc4801adbe (MD5) Previous issue date: 2006-06-30 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Organizational characteristics have been studied recently under a different point of view. Today, more emphasis has been given to the positive aspects that make it possible for employees to have positive feelings towards their employer organization and towards the work itself. The current imposed challenges refer to the identification of positive organizational characteristics that allow such growth of the worker. Such characteristics are postulated as beneficial to the organizations, for resulting in greater productivity and profitability, as well as for promoting the well-being of the employees. The objective of this study was to analyze the impacts that the dimensions of the positive organization have over the well-being of the employees. The well-being of the employees was divided into two areas: subjective well-being (composed by general satisfaction with life, positive and negative affects) and well-being at work (composed by three dimensions: job satisfaction, job involvement and affective organizational commitment). Positive organization was conceived as a construct composed by three dimensions: perceived organizational support, perceived organizational justice (distributive and procedural justice) and trust of the employee to the organization. The sample was composed by 200 employees of diverse companies in the State of São Paulo, being 55 of them male, and 145 female, both single and married, with scholar level distributed from complete elementary and middle school up to complete post-graduation. The instrument used to collect data was a self-administered questionnaire composed by nine scales that measured the variables of the study. The results of this research revealed that subjective wellbeing and well-being at work are interrelated. Multiple regression analysis presented that the positive organization dimensions had greater impacts on the well-being at work in relation to the subjective well-being, with special attention to the capability of trust of the employee to the organization when it comes to explaining the well-being of the employees, either in their personal life domains or in their context of work. According to these results, trust of the employee to the organization, perception of organizational justice and perceived organizational support could be pointed out as important dimensions of the positive organization to promote and protect the wellbeing of the employees. Further research should include other positive organizational characteristics to broaden the explanation of the variance of the employee s well-being / Atualmente, características organizacionais vêm sendo estudadas sob um prisma diferenciado.
