Role ženy v Keni / The Role of Kenyan Woman

Beranová, Zuzana January 2014 (has links)
What is the life of Kenyan women like? In Kenya, like many African countries, a deep paradox has been created. Kenyan women enjoy the benefits of modern life, yet their lives are largely determined by customary law. Although the majority of Kenyan women do not live in traditional society, they are still perceived within their traditional roles. Modern society has different requirements than the traditional ones, however only the segment of -self-confident and informed citizens are aware of their rights and are able to assert their rights. While women compose the majority of the Kenyan population (52%) and play an active role in the development of the whole society, Kenya still continues to remain a deep patriarchal society with a very low regard of the status of women. Women in Kenya are unequal and under-privileged in most areas of their lives. This situation is propounded by the current legal and political system, as well as by prevailing socio-cultural factors. The dissertation examines the different roles of the Kenyan woman - as a daughter, a wife and a mother. The main philosophical ideology which the African society is based upon is the continuation of life and keeping the patrilineal lineage where dead ancestors play the same role as children born to the family. It is presumed that women who play an...

Invloed van tussenrolkonflik op die werkstevredenheid van egpare in dubbelloopbaanhuwelike / The influence of interrole conflict on the job satisfaction of couples in dual career marriages

Noble, Esmé 06 1900 (has links)
In order to fill the gap in existing research on the topic, this study was undertaken to establish whether a relationship exists between interrole conflict and job satisfaction in married couples with full time careers, and whether these couples experience interrole conflict and job satisfaction differently. A theoretical study regarding interrole conflict and job satisfaction was undertaken. In the empirical study these variables were measured using Need Satisfaction and lnterrole Conflict Questionnaires. No statistically significant relationships were found between interrole conflict and job satisfaction; and no statistically significant differences exist between men and women with regard to their experience of job satisfaction and interrole conflict. The research contributes towards a better understanding of interrole conflict in dual career marriages, and indicates that the lnterrole Conflict Questionnaire can deliver reliable results in the South African context. However, the results show the importance of wider, more sophisticated research. / Industrial and Organisational Psychology / MCOM (Bedrysielkunde)

Alcoholism is a serious public health problem in Brazil that affects men and women of all ages, social classes, regardless of race or religion. It is associated with high rates of traffic deaths, job losses, conflicts and domestic violence, among others. When it comes to alcoholism in women, in general, women are more intensely stigmatized and marginalize either by their family or society and health service. This study aimed to: (1) investigate the practices of care developed in the alcoholic woman in her family, (2) understand the perception of this woman about caring for her family. This is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory studying which used theoretical concepts of care, human and family care by Leininger (1991), Elsen (2004) and Waldow (2008). Three families were participating which in each of them there was at least one female alcoholic, users of an ad CAPS, located in a country in Southern Brazil. Data collection occurred between August and September 2008, through semi-structured home interviews with the family of an alcoholic woman and her primary caregiver. Later, the data were subjected to content analysis. The results show that the care practices developed within the family are modified over time as alcoholism evolves. Basic care related to hygiene, food, sleep, rest, physical integrity, morality and self-esteem were applied to three families, though not all women have them perceived as care practices. We highlight the social network support in the three families represented by relatives, neighbors and friends, especially during periods of greater family conflict. Also, the network support of social service and health used by the family to take care especially in emergency situations an emergency situations arising from drunken woman events. On the occasions, the treatment provided to women was perceived as punitive and retaliatory practice. The results of this study reaffirm that, in spite of constant family conflict experienced during the evolution of women’s alcoholism, family concerns are important to the redemption of the bonds of affection and respect for the uniqueness of each human being who experiences the problem of alcoholism.
