Test-retest reliability and validity of the feeding your preschooler questionnaire for low-income Hispanic populationsLoyo, Jennifer Joleen 24 March 2011 (has links)
This methods-oriented dissertation focuses on the psychometric evaluation of the Feeding Your Preschooler Questionnaire (FYPQ) designed to assess the eating habits and diet quality of young children. Parental proxy reports (n=135) were obtained through pen and pencil administration of the FYPQ and an in-person interview using a 24- hour food recall (24HR).Test-retest reliability (n=82) was determined using a repeated measures design with Wilcoxon signed rank tests and Spearman correlations for the food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) portion of the survey, parental self-efficacy, parental role modeling, parental practices, and parental perception of child food preference regarding fruits and vegetables scales. Test-retest reliabilities ranged from r=.53 for water to r=.84 for vegetables for the FFQ and from r=.64 for role modeling to r=.71 for parental perception of child preference for the psychosocial measures. Concurrent construct validity (n=107) was examined with a cross-sectional study design using the Wilcoxon signed rank test, Spearman correlations, and cross-classification analysis into quartiles of food group intakes. Spearman’s correlations between the FFQ and the 24HR were .46 for milk, .22 for fruit, .22 for vegetables, .11 for grains and .07 for protein. Cross-classification analysis revealed that 29% of children were classified in the same quartile and 69% in the same or within one quartile, and gross misclassification ranged from 2% to 10%. Nomological validity was examined using weighted least squares regression. Two regression analyses with fruit and vegetable intake on first the FFQ and second the 24HR as the dependent variable examined the influences of psychosocial environmental predictors and food insecurity. The FFQ regression model explained 28% (p<.05) of the variance in fruit and vegetable intake, with the significant predictors of parental role modeling and food insecurity. The 24HR regression analysis predicting fruit and vegetable intake explained 11% (p<.05), with parental perception of child preference and parental role modeling as significant predictors. In summary, the FYPQ demonstrated good test-retest reliability. The study provides evidence of concurrent validity for the FFQ for assessment of milk consumption and fruit and vegetable variety in preschool children's diets and of nomological validity in the prediction of fruit and vegetable consumption. / text

Emosionele eenwording by pasgetroudes : 'n pastorale studie / Madalè ErasmusErasmus, Margaretha Magdalena January 2004 (has links)
It is presently a general conception that marriages are fast going out of fashion. This
tendency is blamed on the high divorce rate all over the world. It is also believed
that marriages are not the only accepted ways of having relationships.
In order to counsel couples effectively in marriage therapy, the basic building blocks
of a marriage have to be kept in mind. The current pre-marital counselling programs
are lacking in their ability to create stronger marriages.
The following encompassing research question arose:
How can emotional oneness concerning newlyweds be improved through the
following Scriptural guidelines for leaving of parents (Gen 2:24), cleaving (Gen 2:24)
and becoming one (Gen 2:24)?
The methodology used was as follows:
In Chapter 2, basic-theoretical perspectives were formulated on how the Word of God
explains the importance of leaving, cleaving and becoming one in the process of
becoming emotionally one. The basic-theoretical perspectives were constructed
based upon detailed exegesis of Genesis 2:24, as well as cursory exegesis of other
relevant passages.
In Chapter 3, meta-theoretical perspectives were formulated by making use of a
literature study of the associated disciplines of Physiology, Psychology, Sociology
and Law, with specific reference to emotions and marriage itself. An empirical study
indicated that there is a real necessity for a good descriptive definition of emotional
oneness.
In Chapter 4, practical-theoretical guidelines were given as a result of the
hermeneutical interaction between the basic-theoretical principles and the metatheoretical
perspectives. Five practical guidelines were formulated to characterize an
emotional oneness marriage.
In Chapter 5, the researcher finally concludes that the process of leaving, cleaving
and becoming one is a continuous process. It is only possible through the help of the
Holy Spirit and where both newlyweds are willing to work on their marriage. / Thesis (M.A. (Pastoral))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2005.

'Controversial art' : investigating the work of director Rosemary MyersJordan, Noel January 2001 (has links) (PDF)
Arena Theatre Company’s Eat Your Young is examined as an intrinsic case study. The aim is to investigate the role of a director in the creation of an original multi-media theatre production designed for young people. The study explores the current social, political and cultural position of young people and argues that they are viewed and portrayed as a marginalised “other”. The history of Arena Theatre Company is documented in relation to the development of Theatre in Education from its British roots to the Company’s current emphasis on contemporary artists exploring the possibilities of multi-art form technology. The development of multi-media usage in theatre over the past century is outlined in order to gain an understanding of Arena’s place within this technological experimentation. Utilising ethnographic methodology, including participant observation, “unstructured” interactive interviews and the construction of participant monologues, the creative rehearsal and planning process of Eat Your Young is chartered over a five month period. The outcomes of the study confirm the literature relating to the qualities of a good director: they are leadership, vision and the ability to collaborate. The metaphor chief architect is coined to describe the central figure of the director, Rosemary Myers. The case study discusses the development of a Company culture where artists work in an intensive social and interactive environment and it identifies the unique pressures and individual responsibility of the role of director.

Bring Your Own Device : Analys av trenden, dess möjligheter och problemBohman, Emma, Murphy, Joanna January 2012 (has links)

Kvalitativ innehållsanalys av två komediserier - Vänner och How I Met Your MotherHäyhtiö, Eric January 2018 (has links)

Visual Art Curriculum Framework For Small Group High School Instruction: An Art Teacher's ReflectionsColangelo, Penny Lee, MS 08 August 2017 (has links)
For this thesis, I developed a curriculum for high school art students using centers for small group instruction that helped them develop skills and knowledge in creating art. The type of small group instruction that I implemented is centered based and includes a teacher facilitated component, an interactive activity, and a project done in a small group at their desks. The groups were broken down in levels of ability, skill, and the extra time needed for students to complete their work. By developing this type of curriculum for the Visual Art 1 course, the goal of small group instruction in the art classroom is to support student understanding of the artistic process through successful experiences.

Englund, Petra January 2017 (has links)
Mobiltelefonens mångfacettering erbjuder många möjligheter inom studier, men även flera utmaningar.

A Comparison of Principals’ Perceptions of Preparedness Based on Leadership Development OpportunitiesHolacka, Karin V. 08 1900 (has links)
This research study identified the frequency in which six public school districts in Texas provided principals with effective development opportunities prior to the principalship excluding university or certification programs. A purposive sample of over 200 principals from six school districts in the Dallas/Fort Worth area were asked to participate in the study yielding a response rate of 41%. Respondents identified through a questionnaire their leadership development opportunities and perceptions of preparedness on nine standards common to the profession. Principals were nominally grouped for comparison. The perceptions of preparedness for principals who received effective leadership development opportunities were compared to those who did not receive these same opportunities using an independent samples t-test to determine statistical significance (p < .05). Peer coaching yielded the most statistically significant results in three standards. This finding indicates principals who receive peer coaching prior to the principalship compared to those who did not perceive themselves as more prepared in the areas of community collaboration, political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context, and curriculum, instruction and assessment. Effect size was measured for the statistically significance standards to determine practical significance. Each of the five statistically significant standards yielded a medium effect size indicating that the leadership development methods received by participants explained approximately 30% of the difference.

Strategies That Mitigate IT Infrastructure Demands Produced by Student BYOD UsaDunne, Martha 01 January 2019 (has links)
The use of bring your own devices (BYOD) is a global phenomenon, and nowhere is it more evident than on a college campus. The use of BYOD on academic campuses has grown and evolved through time. The purpose of this qualitative multiple case study was to identify the successful strategies used by chief information officers (CIOs) to mitigate information technology infrastructure demands produced by student BYOD usage. The diffusion of innovation model served as the conceptual framework. The population consisted of CIOs from community colleges within North Carolina. The data collection process included semistructured, in-depth face-to-face interviews with 9 CIOs and the analysis of 25 documents, all from participant case organizations. Member checking was used to increase the validity of the findings. During the data analysis phase, the data were coded, sorted, queried, and analyzed obtained from semistructured interviews and organizational documentation with NVivo, a qualitative data analysis computer software package. Through methodological triangulation, 3 major themes emerged from the study: the importance of technology management tools, the importance of security awareness training, and the importance of BYOD security policies and procedures. These themes highlight successful strategies employed by CIOs. The implications for positive social change as a result of this study include creating a more positive experience for students interacting with technology on campus. Effects on social change will also arise by increasing a student's mindfulness through security awareness programs, which will empower the student to take more control of their online presence and as they pass that information along to family and friends.
