Ivarsson, Lisa January 2014 (has links)
The thesis aims to increase our understanding about parents reasoning about the elementary school choice by studying which factors parents perceive as important during the decision making process and also by giving meaning to Pierre Bourdieu’s concept of capital through the parents perspective. The empirical material comes from seven BNIM-interviews made with parents, which has been analyzed according to the thematic field analysis. The results show that the parents are not especially concerned about making an active school choice. Stability, closeness, friends, rumors, development and adaptability to the reality are the factors that are perceived as the most important in the decision making process. The school choice has a limited meaning as an investment in social capital, from Bourdieu’s perspective. The cultural capital has a somewhat more prominent meaning for the school choice, but the parents’ seems to mainly use the school choice as a reproduction strategy.

Folkebrant, David, Väisänen Dahlberg, Tommi January 2014 (has links)

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the correlation between students’ literacy skills in grade three, and their home literacy environment, as well as parents’ socioeconomic and socio-cultural status. I intend to discuss the correlation between literacy skills and students’ home literacy environment, including multimodal text and electronic resources such as tablets and computers. I also intend to discuss students’ literacy skills in relation to their parents’ country of birth, level of education and profession. My method consists of a parent questionnaire and student results from the National Test in Swedish as a Native Language in grade three. Two classes from two different schools participate in the study. I am using Cronbachs alpha to calculate the internal consistency, in other words how well my questions measure the same thing. I utilize the chi-square method to calculate the probability for a certain correlation. To analyze the results, I am using Pierre Bourdieu’s concepts of habitus and cultural capital. My results show no significant connection between literacy and home literacy environment, socioeconomic background or parents’ country of birth. However, I am able to detect a tendency which argues that children with well educated parents achieve higher scores on the National Test than students with low educated parents. The tendency indicates that children with well educated parents have more developed literacy skills than children with low educated parents.

Girell, Cecilia, Kjellström, Sandra January 2014 (has links)
Abstract Title: PR consultants and bloggers; a win-win situation? -  <img src="file:///page3image16320" /> A study of PR consultants’ new adaptations in the labour market due to the emergence of fashion bloggers.  Authors: Cecilia Girell, Sandra Kjellström Tutor: Ylva Ekström Purpose: With the expansion of the Internet, fashion bloggers have gotten more power. A few companies have understood this powerful and reasonable cheap marketing channel. Despite this, most companies still feel powerless, but what has happened to the work of PR consultants in this constant changing media environment? The ones whos purpose is to act as intermediaries between companies and various media channels. That is our purpose for this essay; to look at PR consultants new adaptations in their extern marketing communication in phase with the ever- growing blogosphere. Method: In this study a qualitative method in terms of personal interviews has been used in the collection of data. Four interviews have been held; whereas two with PR consultants working with fashion, and two with fashion bloggers. These interviews together with literature and theories regarding our topic have later on been used as the base for our results and analysis. Main results: Overall, PR consultants have gotten a more stressful environment since the entrance of the bloggers. More and different strategies must nowadays be planned, since the bloggers work differently compared to traditional media. They offer a more personal connection towards their readers, which also have made it easier for the PR consultant to reach their target groups faster. Both bloggers and PR-consultants have nowadays become dependent on each other, and the factors leading up to this can be explained through technological, economic and cultural perspectives. / Dress reform in Gustavian Sweden : from a Bourdieu perspective.

Lindgren, Anton January 2015 (has links)
