[en] WINNICOTT AND THE AESTHETIC DIMENSION OF CONTEMPORARY PSYCHOANALYSIS / [pt] WINNICOTT E A DIMENSÃO ESTÉTICA DA PSICANÁLISE CONTEMPORÂNEA

MARTA GASPAR VIANA MOSLEY 14 July 2017 (has links)
[en] This thesis aims to investigate the relevance of the aesthetic dimension in the theory and practice of contemporary psychoanalysis. It takes as its starting point the sensitive and sensory experiences where body and affection bring about fundamental clinical contributions to the setting. Starting from Donald Winnicott s theory of Emotional Development and his concepts about Environment , Holding and Handling of the infant, and on Sandor Ferenczi s ideas of tact, empathy and sensitivity, we indicate the relevance of the aesthetic dimension in the contemporary psychoanalytic clinic that faces the challenge of new pathologies.

A transitoriedade e o afeto : a relação entre imagem e suporte

Bianchini, Marília da Silva January 2013 (has links)
This research is based on the set of inkjet printed photos on handmade paper that was produced by me during the years 2012 and 2013. The decision to manufacture my own support is identified as a crucial step from which arises the reflection on the relationship between support and image. As a result of the way these works were produced, the ideas of transience and affection take place in them. Permeating this text is the understanding that the work concludes while including their formation process, present in Luigi Pareyson’s Estetica: teoria della formatività.

Luciana Souza Araujo 19 September 2013 (has links)
This paper presents a research whose aim is to investigate the factors that lead the teachers to opt for teaching in Special Education. We are based on Vigotskys assumptions about the relations between cognition and affection, as well we consider the concept of perezhivanie, introduced by the author with regard to the affective dimensions in learning. For reaching the proposed objective we asked to fifteen teachers from Special Education in a public network of Vale do Paraiba to answer to a questionnaire, whose questions were based on the reasons which lead them to choose the Special Education. This study show us that special students teachers made their option according the cognitive-affective experiences established along their personal and academic trajectory. The questionnaires were analyzed according the Content Analysis proposed by Bardin. By the questionnaire analysis we can see that the affective involvement with the Special Education teaching begin with the existence of experiences with individuals that have some temporary or definitive limitation and need some adaptation or help to act in the social environment. For most of the interviewees teaching in this area demands constant signification and resignification of their practice because, according the analysis of their answers, the view the teacher must have of his/her performance is built up in a daily emotional experience. We believe that this paper may contribute to the reflection on teaching in Special Education. This work is part of the project: Interfaces between cognitive and affective aspects in the work of the language teacher.

Filosofické úvahy o umění a pravda / Philosophical Writings on Art and the Truth

Poláková, Markéta January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to study the subject of art (especially music) and its connection to the truth. The effort is also to determine what is meant by the truth. But all this reveals the real and noble goal of this thesis: to try to capture all the questions that arise in connection with art and the truth and trying to search their proper philosophical answers. All this takes place within Friedrich Nietzsche's early philosophy, with his inspirations: Arthur Schopenhauer (we will touch the influence of Kant's philosophy on Schopenhauer's philosophy, too) and the composer and at certain time Nietzsche's personal friend - Richard Wagner, whose lesser known writings will be also introduced. It turns out that these arising questions touch on such topics as: abstract rationality and language in contrast to artistic creativity and direct experience, subjectivity or objectivity in art, the special nature of philosophy, existential issues, and issues of a higher sense of human life. Key words: music, art, truth, affection, reason, myth, drama, tragedy

[pt] RASURAR O REAL, (A)RISCAR A SUBJETIVIDADE: UMA INVESTIGAÇÃO SOBRE GESTOS DE RASURA DA BINARIEDADE DE GÊNERO / [en] STAINING REALITY, MARKING THE SUBJECT: AN INVESTIGATION ABOUT GESTURES OF STAINING THE GENDER BINARY

PE SOBRINHO MOREIRA 20 June 2023 (has links)
[en] Stains are part of life: I leave a mark on the other, the other leaves one on me. Here, I propose the writing of an essay that aims to investigate gestures of staining the gender binary. I look at affects, words and matter that make up the grammar of Western gender. In this work, the following are representatives of affection: pain and shame; of words: the name; of matter: the body. The first stain is presented as a proposal aiming new ways of relating to affects marked as negative in their association with the feminine and unproductiveness. The second and third stains locate the project in the field of transgender studies, when we enter a/effectively in the experiences of transforming the self. I seek to rethink the relationship with the past of trans bodies, usually invited to oblivion in order to achieve an approximation of cisnormativity. I revisit the name rectification gestures and body modifications as stain gestures that are not forgotten. I propose that we think of the dead name from a point of view outside the Western binary that excludes the dead from living relationships. And I also reflect on ways to relate in an inventive way with the transformation of our bodies into monstrous bodies, invented by white cisnormativity and potentiated by hormonal and surgical modifications. The objective of this research is to think about what possibilities open up when we do not forget the past of our bodies and pay attention to stains as a way of life and mundification in its destructive potential of the binary world.

Childhood Factors Affecting Aggressive Behaviors

Waddell, Nicole Danielle 05 May 2012 (has links) (PDF)
In the past there have been numerous studies regarding how childhood factors can affect adult behavior and attitudes. In the present study 124 East Tennessee State University students were given surveys. The surveys included items measuring demographics, parenting styles, and aggression. This study examined the impact of parenting styles on aggressive tendencies and perceptions the subjects have as young adults as well as the effects of socioeconomic status on parenting styles and aggression. The findings suggest that mid-level income families demonstrated more affection and less aggression to the subjects surveyed.

Reciprocal Communication as a Form of Nonverbal Communication: A Qualitative Approach

Penrod, John Christian 08 March 2011 (has links) (PDF)
The current state of psychological research in nonverbal communication is briefly summarized and several problems are noted. Reciprocal communication (RC) is suggested, defined, and qualitatively investigated as a way of describing the experience of emotional compatibility in communication, with an emphasis on form, degree, and timing as fundamental aspects of nonverbal communication. Support for three different levels of emotional compatibility (fully, partially, and nonreciprocal) is found. Variation in the interpretation of nonverbal communication when communication is perceived as either intentional or unintentional is noted, and a system of categorizing reciprocal communication is suggested. Further patterns in nonverbal communication are observed, and terminology suggested.

Remember the Good Old Days? : Investigating the effect that nostalgic music in advertising has on brand affection, purchase intention, and word of mouth.

Ajander, Ellinor, Hubertsson, Ida, Nilsson, Linnea January 2023 (has links)
Background: Nostalgia in marketing has become increasingly popular but the need for research within the field is prominent with a lack of models, approaches, and mediators of effectively using nostalgia in marketing, especially using nostalgic music in advertisements. The definition of nostalgia is an ambivalent feeling, including both fondness and sadness, when reminiscing about the past. Previous research has shown that nostalgia in marketing is beneficial as it can influence consumer behaviour. Combining nostalgia and music with advertising is an unexplored area of marketing research and is therefore an interesting and important topic to investigate further. Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate nostalgic music and its effect on brand affection and consequently consumer behaviour, as well as if using nostalgic music is an effective marketing strategy in advertising.  Method: A quantitative and deductive research approach was chosen for this study with an experimental research design. Two manipulation checks were conducted to define nostalgic music and facilitate the isolation of nostalgia. An experiment with three different groups was conducted where respondents viewed an advertisement with or without the stimulus of nostalgic music.  Findings: The result of the study showed that nostalgic music in advertising does not affect brand affection and therefore has no impact on the key marketing metrics word of mouth and purchase intention. Nostalgic music is therefore not an effective marketing strategy that is aimed towards individuals in their late adolescence

Using a bio-metric feedback device to enhance player experience in horror games

Hedlund, Ted, Norrlind, Olof January 2023 (has links)
This paper is aimed at investigating whether a biofeedback device can positively increase a player's experience of thrill and suspension in a horror game. To facilitate this, two versions of the same horror game were created with a connection to a heart rate monitor. The difference between the two versions of the game was that the core elements were controlled by the heart rate which attempted to keep the player in a constant suspense state based on their heart rate. This was done to enhance the player's experience and thrill. These two versions of the game were then play-tested by users. Users had no insight into which version they were testing and afterward, a questionnaire was administered to ascertain the tester's emotional responses. The collected data was then analyzed and a pattern could be observed where testers preferred the version of the game that was controlled by the heart rate. This, backed by previous studies showed that using a biofeedback device to implement only the heart rate into a game had a marked positive effect on player experience. Still, additional research is needed with a larger control group to get more accurate results.
