Croissance physique d'îlots de Pt et Co sur oxydes pour l'auto-organisation de nano-bâtonnets de Co élaborés par synthèse chimique / Physical growth of Pt and Co islands on oxides for self-organization of Co nanorods prepared by chemical synthesis

Le sujet de thèse s’inscrit dans le cadre des stratégies visant à organiser des nanostructures, plus particulièrement les stratégies visant à augmenté la densité d’information dans les médias magnétique. Les techniques de synthèse en chimie douce utilisés au LPCNO-INSA on permet d’élaborer des nano-bâtonnets monocristallins de cobalt dont les propriétés ferromagnétiques en termes d’anisotropie et d’aimantation présentent un grand intérêt pour des applications dans le domaine du stockage magnétique. La maitrise de la croissance de ces nano-bâtonnets de Co organisés perpendiculairement sur un substrat peut permettre de réaliser un média de forte densité. Nous avons dans un premier temps vérifié la croissance perpendiculaire de nano bâtonnets de cobalt monocristallins sur une couche continue de Pt (111) épitaxiée sur un substrat de saphir (Al2O3) et montré que cette combinaison de deux types de dépôts (physique et chimique) donne effectivement lieu à un réseau dense et perpendiculaire de bâtonnets de Co. Pour but d’organiser cette croissance et découpler physiquement les bâtonnets de Co nous avons alors étudié la croissance de ces bâtonnets de Co sur des îlots 3D métalliques de Pt et de Co.En première partie nous avons étudié la structure cristalline, La morphologie, les distributions en taille et l’état des contraintes des îlots de Pt et Co déposée sur la surface (0001) du saphir et la surface (001) du MgO par pulvérisation cathodique. Et en deuxième partie, nous avons étudié la croissance des nano bâtonnets de Co sur les ilots de Pt et de Co maitrisés dans l’étape précédente / The subject of this thesis is to be part of strategies in order to organize nanostructures, particularly strategies to increase information density in magnetic media. The synthesis techniques used in chemistry (LPCNO-INSA laboratory) is allowed to develop monocrystalline nanorods of cobalt whose ferromagnetic properties in terms of anisotropy and magnetization present a great interest for applications in the field of magnetic storage. The success in controling the growth of these nanorods arranged perpendicularly on a substrate can lead to achieve a high density media. We tested the perpendicular growth of monocrystalline nanorods of cobalt on a continuous and epitaxial layer of Pt (111) grown on a substrate of sapphire (Al2O3) and showed that this combination of two types of deposits (physical and chemical) give actually a dense and perpendicular network of Co nanorods. In the aim to organizing this growth and decoupling physically the nanorods we studied the growth of these Co nanorods on 3D metallic islands of Pt and Co. In the first part we studied the crystal structure, morphology, size distributions and the stress state of Pt and Co islands deposited on the surface (0001) of sapphire and (001) surface of MgO by sputtering. And in the second part, we studied the growth of Co nanorods on a Pt and Co islands mastered in the previous step

Wear on Alumina Coated Tools and the Influence of Inclusions when Turning Low-Alloy Steels : Master Thesis - Chemical Engineering

In this master thesis, performed at Sandvik Coromant Västberga (Stockholm), a comprehensive study has been made to investigate the wear on textured alumina (Inveio™) coated cutting tools when turning low-alloy steels. Specifically, wear studies have been made on tools’ rake faces when turning two separate batches of SS2541, after an initial turning time of 4 min. A particular focus has been given to elucidate what particular role the inclusions might have for the wear of the alumina coating onthe tools. Evaluation of tool wear has been made by employing several different analytical techniques, such as LOM, SEM, Wyko, Auger-spectrometry (AES), EPMA and XRD. The results shows that the arisen wear marks on both tested tool types may be divided into three separate and highly distinguishable wear zones, denoted here in thiswork as “wear bands”. Largest amount of wear tended to occur initially at the topmost part of the 3rd wear band. This was true for both tested tool types. This area demonstrated a characteristic 'lamellar' wear pattern, composed of narrow andstructured ridges. All the tools tested demonstrated the adhesion of workpiece materials of various composition that formed into smeared layers in these formed ridges. Depth-profiling Auger-spectrometry revealed that a significant amount of calcium was present in the machined alumina coating layers. This suggests that a reaction between the calcium-containing inclusions found in the steel and the aluminacoating layer had occurred during the performed turning tests.These results arecontradictory to the general belief that alumina is chemical inert during machiningand has previously, to the authors knowledge, not yet been published. Based on the results from this thesis and from a literature review concerning thebehavior of α-alumina during deformation, a new theoretical wear model has been developed. In this model, it is emphasised that the sliding of hard inclusions from the steel may activate pyramidal slip systems in the textured alumina coating. This causes a nano-crystallisation and/or amorphisation in the topmost part of the coating, which facilitates the further wear of these coated tools. / I detta examensarbete, som har utförts vid Sandvik Coromant i Västberga (Stockholm), har en omfattande studie gjorts i syfte att undersöka slitaget på texturerad aluminiumoxid-belagda skärverktyg (Inveio™) vid svarvningen av låglegerade stålsorter. Förslitningsstudier har framförallt gjorts på verktygens spånsidor vid svarvningen av två separata batcher av stålsorten SS2541 efter en inledande ingreppstid på 4 min. Ett särskilt fokus har även ägnats åt att belysa vilken roll stålets inneslutningar kan ha för slitaget av aluminiumoxidbeläggningen. Utvärderingen av verktygsslitaget har gjorts med hjälp av flera olika analytiska tekniker, däribland LOM, SEM, Wyko, Auger-spektrometri (AES), EPMA samt XRD. Resultaten från detta examensarbete visar på att det uppkomna slitaget på de verktyg som har testats kan uppdelas till tre separata och mycket distinkta ”slitagezoner”. Dessa zoner har för detta arbete benämnts som ”nötningsband”. Störst förslitning framträdde initialt i den översta delen av det 3:e nötningsbandet på de testade skärverktygen. Detta område uppvisade ett karaktäristiskt ”lamell”-liknande utseende, bestående av smala och strukturerade åsar och skåror. Vidare uppvisade samtliga undersökta verktyg på förekomsten av påsmetat arbetsmaterial av varierande sammansättning i dessa bildade åsar. När de slitna verktygen undersöktes med djuprofilerande Auger-spektrometri påvisades det att en signifikant mängd kalcium fanns inuti aluminiumoxidbeläggningen. Detta tyder på att en reaktion mellan de kalciuminnehållande inneslutningarna (som finns inuti stålet) och aluminiumoxidbeläggningen har reagerat med varandra under bearbetningsförloppet. Dessa resultat är motsägande till den allmänna uppfattningen om att aluminiumoxid är kemiskt inert vid bearbetningen av stål. Därutöver har dessa resultat även, till författarens kännedom, aldrig tidigare publicerats. Baserat på de resultat som har erhållits från detta examensarbete, och från en omfattande litteraturstudie gällande deformationen av α-aluminiumoxid, har en ny teoretisk förslitningsmodell utarbetats. I denna modell betonas det särskilt att glidningen av hårda inneslutningar från stålet kan aktivera s.k. pyramidala glidsystem i den texturerade aluminiumoxidbeläggningen. Detta orsaker en nano-kristallisering och/eller amorfisering av den översta delen av aluminiumoxidbeläggningen.  Denna omvandling tros kunna underlätta den fortsatta förslitningen av dessa belagda skärverktyg.

Síntese e caracterização de filmes finos do sistema Y2O3-Er2O3-Al2O3-B2O3 para aplicação como amplificadores ópticos planares. / Thin films preparation and characterization of the Y2O3-Er2O3-Al2O3-B2O3.

Esse trabalho de tese descreve a síntese e a caracterização de materiais amorfos e cristalinos na forma de pó e de filmes finos pertencentes ao sistema Er2O3-Y2O3-Al2O3-B2O3. O principal objetivo do trabalho foi o de obter filmes finos amorfos contendo íons Er3+ próximo à composição YAI3(BO3)4 (YAB), visando sua aplicação como amplificador em dispositivos ópticos integrados. Na síntese das amostras foi empregado o método dos precursores poliméricos e o método sol-gel. Uma vez estabelecida às condições de síntese das resinas e de sóis estáveis, diferentes parâmetros foram otimizados visando à deposição de filmes relativamente espessos e amorfos. As propriedades térmicas, estruturais e ópticas de amostras cristalinas ou amorfas, na forma de pó e na forma de filmes finos, foram caracterizadas através das técnicas de análise termogravimétrica, calorimetria exploratória diferencial, difração de raios X, espectroscopia vibracional na região do infravermelho com transformada de Fourier, espectroscopia Raman e microscopia eletrônica de varredura de alta resolução, microscopia de força atômica, espectroscopia \"m-line\", medidas de espectros de luminescência. Baseado na análise térmica e estrutural das amostras na forma de pó, foi possível realizar a síntese de amostras na forma de filmes finos de composição Y1-xErxAl3(BO3)4 que apresentaram características estruturais, microestruturais e ópticas adequadas à aplicação desejada. Através do estudo das propriedades térmicas e estruturais, foi observado que as amostras preparadas através do método dos precursores poliméricos e do método sol-gel apresentam respectivamente uma temperatura de transição vítrea (Tg) à 723 &#176C e à 746 &#176C e uma temperatura de cristalização (Tc) à 814 &#176C e à 830&#176C. O tratamento térmico à aproximadamente 1150 &#176C da amostra amorfa na forma de pó de composição Y0,9Er0,1Al3(BO3)4 contendo boro em excesso levou a obtenção de uma solução sólida cristalina de composição Y0,9Er0,1Al3(BO3)4. No que se refere às propriedades dos filmes finos, as melhores condições de densificação, homogeneidade, eficiência de guiamento, emissão luminescente e tempo de vida foram observadas quando os filmes de composição Y0,9Er0,1Al3(BO3)4 foram tratados entre as temperaturas de Tg e Tc. Os filmes amorfos de composição Y0,9Er0,1Al3(BO3)4 se comportam como guias monomodos, apresentando alta emissão luminescente e um tempo de vida comparável a outros sistemas amorfos a base de boro. Esse comportamento mostra a viabilidade de aplicação desses filmes amorfos como amplificadores ópticos planares. / This work specifies the synthesis and the characterization of amorphous and crystalline powder and thin films materials belonging to the Er2O3-Y2O3-Al2O3-B2O3 system. The main objective of this work was to develop amorphous thin film samples near the YAI3(BO3)4 composition with yttrium partially substituted by erbium Y1-xErxAl3(BO3)4 with the aim of applying these thin films as waveguide amplifiers in integrated optical systems. The polymeric precursor and the sol-gel methods were applied in order to produce such thin films. After the first step where the conditions to obtain very stable resins and sols was established, different parameters were adjusted aiming the deposition of thick and stable thin films. To well define the best conditions to obtain amorphous and dense thin films, the powder samples of the same compositions were first characterized by thermal analysis techniques, X-ray diffraction, IR and Raman spectroscopies, high resolution electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. From thermal analysis and structural results, it was observed that the samples prepared from the polymeric precursor and sol-gel methods exhibit glass transition temperatures, Tg, at 723 and 746 &#176C and cristallisation temperatures, Tc, at 814 and 830 &#176C, respectively. The heat treatment at around 1150 &#176C of Y0,9Er0,1Al3(BO3)44 powder sample containing a smaller amount of boron in excess produced by both methods lead to the formation of a crystalline solid solution of the same composition without the presence of secondary phases. These results show that dense, free of cracks, thick and homogeneous thin films could be obtained when they were submitted at a heat treatment in temperatures between Tg and Tc. From the \"m-line\" spectroscopy technique and luminescence measurements we observed that the Y0,9Er0,1Al3(BO3)4 amorphous thin films can be considered as monomode waveguides showing a high luminescence intensities and a lifetime similar to other amorphous borate systems. These results show the potentiality to apply such amorphous thin films as optical planar amplifiers.

Este trabalho tem por objetivo a caracterização de filmes finos de óxido de alumínio produzidos por deposição assistida por feixe de íons Ar+. Tal caracterização consiste em estabelecer a relação entre os parâmetros de produção (energia do feixe e uxo relativo de Ar), a composição e a estrutura dos lmes. Para tanto, utiliza-se técnicas de microscopia de força atômica, difração de raios-x, reetividade de raios-x e análise por feixe iônico. Resultados mostram que amostras produzidas à temperatura ambiente e à 450 oC são amorfas independentemente da energia do feixe iônico. Filmes formados com assistência de feixe possuem qualidade superior àqueles formados por deposição física de vapor. O bombardeamento de íons Ar+ mostra-se capaz de controlar a concentração de hidrogênio, a estequiometria, a rugosidade, o tamanho dos grãos e a densidade dos lmes nos. Amostras com excelente qualidade baixa rugosidade, estequiometria próxima da ideal e boa densidade foram produzidas utilizando íons com energia dentre 300 eV e 600 eV. / The scope of this work is the characterization of aluminum oxide thin films produced by Ar+ ion beam assisted deposition. This characterization consists in establishing the relationship between production parameters (ion beam energy and argon relative ux), structure and composition of these lms. In order to undertake this task, the following techniques were used: atomic force microscopy, x-ray diraction, x-ray reectivity and ion beam analysis. Results show that samples produced at room temperature and at 450 oC are amorphous regardless the ion beam energy. Films grown under ion assistance have better characteristics than the ones deposited by physical vapor deposition. The ion beam bombardment is capable of controlling hydrogen concentration, stoichiometry, roughness, grain size and density of alumina samples. High quality lms at surface and increased density lms with near ideal stoichiometry were produced with 300 eV and 600 eV ion beam energy.

Efeito de diferentes tratamentos de superfície na resistência de união de um cimento resinoso à zircônia

As ceramicas a base de zirconia (Y-TZP) apresentam propriedades mecanicas superiores as das demais ceramicas odontologicas. Entretanto, o aumento do conteudo cristalino modificou suas caracteristicas de adesao a cimentos resinosos, tornando necessario o desenvolvimento de metodos mais efetivos de uniao a estes materiais. Este trabalho in vitro pretende, portanto, avaliar a influencia de diferentes tratamentos de superficie e de diferentes agentes de uniao na resistencia ao cisalhamento entre uma zirconia estabilizada por itrio e um agente cimentante autoadesivo (RelyX U100®/3M ESPE). Para tal, cilindros de PROCERA® Allzircon receberam como tratamento de superficie jateamento com oxido de aluminio (Al2O3 - 50 m) ou jateamento com o sistema Rocatec. Sobre a superficie tratada dos cilindros foram aplicados, de acordo com os diferentes grupos experimentais, o sistema adesivo Clearfil SE Bond® (Kuraray Co.), e os primers Metal Zirconia Primer (Ivoclar Vivadent) e Alloy Primer (Kuraray Co.) e, finalmente, o cimento resinoso adotado. Cada especime foi, entao, submetido ao teste de cisalhamento (0,05 mm/min), por meio da acao de uma alca de fio ortodontico passando o mais próximo possivel da interface adesiva. A analise de variancia a um criterios (ANOVA) e o teste de Tukey (p<0,05) mostraram que a realizacao do tratamento de superfície aumentou os valores de resistencia de uniao entre a ceramica e o cimento resinoso. O jateamento com o sistema Rocatec (15,33 MPa) apresentou valores significantemente maiores que o jateamento com Al2O3 (11,93 MPa). A aplicacao dos agentes de uniao resultou em uma maior resistencia adesiva, sendo que o sistema adesivo Clearfill SE Bond (17,07 MPa) teve um comportamento estatisticamente superior aos demais materiais. Entre os primers, o Metal Zirconia Primer (11,26 MPa) apresentou maior valor de resistencia de uniao que o Alloy Primer (10,01 MPa). Portanto, a associacao de um tratamento superficial com um agente de união e valida, ja que promoveu os maiores valores de resistencia adesiva. / Yttrium-stabilized tetragonal zircon polycrystal (Y-TZP) ceramics show better mechanical properties than other dental ceramics. However, the high crystalline content modified their adhesiveness to resin cements, making it extremely necessary to develop a more effective adhesive strategy between them. This in vitro study intends to evaluate the influence of different surface treatments and different bond agents on the shear bond strength between a Y-TZP and self-adhesive resin cement. PROCERA® Allzircon cylinders (3.5 mm in diameter) received a surface airborne abrasion treatment with 50 m aluminum-oxide (Al2O3) particles or with the Rocatec system. According to the experimental groups, the adhesive system Clearfil SE Bond® (Kuraray Co.), and the primers Metal Zirconia Primer (Ivoclar Vivadent) and Alloy Primer (Kuraray Co.) were applied on the treated surface of the cylinders, before the application of the adopted resin cement (RelyX U100®/3M ESPE). Each specimen was submitted to the shear bond strength test (0.5 mm/min), by the action of an orthodontic stainless steel ligature wire (0.5 mm in diameter) loop, wrapped around the resin cement, as close as possible to the adhesive interface. One way-ANOVA and Tukey´s post hoc tests (p<0.05) revealed that surface treatment increased bond strength between the ceramic and the resin cement. Silica coating with the Rocatec system (15.33 MPa) showed significantly higher values than airborne abrasion with Al2O3 (11.93 MPa). Application of all bond agents improved shear bond strength: adhesive system Clearfil SE Bond (17.07 MPa) showed better performance than the other evaluated materials, and Metal Zirconia Primer (11.26 MPa) showed higher bond strength values than Alloy Primer (10.01 MPa). Therefore, the association of a surface treatment with a bond agent is suitable, once it resulted in higher values of adhesive strength.

Influence de l'atmosphère réactive sur la stabilité structurale de catalyseurs Pt1 supporté et performances associées en oxydation de CO et photogénération d'hydrogène / Influence of the reactive atmosphere on the structural stability of supported Pt1 catalysts and related performance in CO oxidation and hydrogen photogeneration

Ce travail de thèse a consisté en l’étude de catalyseurs ultradispersés, composés de clusters nanométriques ou d’atomes isolés (single-atom catalysts, SACs) de métal, une nouvelle classe de catalyseurs faisant actuellement l’objet d’un engouement mondial. Les systèmes Pt/?-Al2O3 et Pt/TiO2 ont été préparés, caractérisés et testés en oxydation de CO et photogénération d’hydrogène, respectivement. Plusieurs méthodes d’imprégnation et de traitement thermique ont été comparées, notamment grâce à l’analyse de la dispersion du platine par microscopie électronique en transmission à balayage (STEM). Pour la préparation de SACs, notre choix s’est finalement porté sur l’imprégnation à humidité naissante d’une faible charge de précurseur Pt(NH3)4(NO3)2, suivie d’une calcination à l’air. L’étude des performances catalytiques et de l’évolution structurale des catalyseurs au cours des réactions a permis de montrer que les atomes isolés (cations) de platine étaient moins actifs que les clusters (réduits) pour les deux systèmes catalytiques étudiés. Dans le cas de Pt/?-Al2O3, des suivis par spectroscopie d’absorption X (XAS) operando en rayonnement synchrotron, spectroscopie infrarouge par réflexion diffuse (DRIFTS) operando et microscopie environnementale (E-STEM) ont montré la formation et la déstabilisation des SACs, cette dernière étant toutefois moindre en conditions oxydantes. En effet, l’oxygène stabilise le platine isolé via la formation de plusieurs liaisons Pt-O-Al comme montré par modélisation DFT, alors que la présence d’un composé réducteur (CO, H2) conduit à la formation de clusters, mobiles sur leur support. Ce travail met en évidence les limites possibles concernant la stabilisation et la mise en œuvre des SACs dans des réactions catalytiques impliquant des conditions réductrices / This PhD work is focused on the study of ultradispersed catalysts, composed of nanometer-sized clusters or isolated atoms (single-atom catalysts, SACs) of metal, a new class of catalysts which are currently the object of worldwide interest. The Pt/?-Al2O3 and Pt/TiO2 systems were prepared, characterized and evaluated for CO oxidation and hydrogen photogeneration, respectively.Several methods of impregnation and thermal treatment were compared, in particular through platinum dispersion analysis using scanning electron microscopy (STEM). For the preparation of SACs, our choice finally turned to the incipient wetness impregnation of Pt(NH3)4(NO3)2 precursor at low loading, followed by calcination in air.For the two catalytic systems of interest, the study of the performances and the structural evolution of the catalysts during the reactions shows that isolated Pt atoms (cations) are less active than their (reduced) cluster counterparts.In the case of Pt/?-Al2O3, operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) using synchrotron radiation, operando diffuse reflectance infrared spectroscopy (DRIFTS), and environmental microscopy (E-STEM) allowed us to monitor the SAC formation and destabilization, the latter being however limited in oxidizing conditions. Indeed, the presence of oxygen stabilizes single Pt atoms via the formation of several Pt-O-Al bonds as shown by DFT modeling, whereas the presence of a reducing compound (CO, H2) leads to the formation of Pt clusters, mobile on their support.This work highlights the possible limitations in the stabilization and implementation of SACs for catalytic reactions involving reducing conditions

Revestimentos a base de Ta/Al2O3 produzidos por aspers?o t?rmica sobre substrato met?lico / Ta/Al2O3 coatings produced by thermal spray on metallic substrate

The starting materials were used for deposition of tantalum oxide powder and aluminium. These two materials were mixed and ground into high-energy mill, then immersed in the torch for the production of alumina coating infused with particles of tantalum with nano and micrometric size. The spraying equipment used is a plasma torch arc not transferred, which operating in the range of 250 A and 80 V, was able to produce enough heat to ignite aluminothermic between Ta2O5 and aluminum. Upon reaching the plasma jet, the mixing powders react with the heat of the blaze, which provides sufficient energy for melting aluminum particles. This energy is transferred through mechanisms of self-propagating to the oxide, beginning a reduction reaction, which then hits on the surface of the substrate and forms a coating on which a composite is formed by a junction metal - ceramic (Ta +Al2O3). The phases and quantification of each were obtained respectively by X-ray diffraction and the Rietveld method. Morphology by scanning electron microscopy and chemical analysis by energy dispersive spectroscopy EDS. It was also performed measurements of the substrate roughness, Vickers microhardness measurements in sprays and determination of the electron temperature of the plasma jet by optical emission spectroscopy EEO. The results confirmed the expectation generated around the end product of spraying the mixture Ta2O5 + Al, both in the formation of nano-sized particles and in their final form. The electron excitation temperature was consistent with the purpose of work, in addition, the thermodynamic temperature was efficient for the reduction process of Ta2O5. The electron excitation temperature showed values of 3000, 4500 and 8000 K for flows10, 20 and 30 l / min respectively, these values were taken at the nozzle exit of the plasma jet. The thermodynamic temperature around 1200 ? C, was effective in the reduction process of Ta2O5 / Substratos met?licos de a?o inox 416 foram revestidos por aspers?o t?rmica em tocha de plasma. Esses dois p?s foram misturados e mo?dos em moinho de alta energia, em seguida, imersos na tocha para produ??o de revestimento de alumina impregnada com part?culas de t?ntalo com tamanho nano e microm?tricos. O equipamento de aspers?o utilizado foi uma tocha de plasma de arco n?o transferido que opera na faixa de 250 A e 30 V. Ao atingirem o jato de plasma, os p?s da mistura aquecem at? a temperatura de igni??o da rea??o aluminot?rmica. O calor gerado fornece energia suficiente para a fus?o do produto da rea??o. Esse produto fundido ao chocar-se na superf?cie do substrato forma um revestimento composto por uma jun??o metal cer?mica (Ta + Al2O3). A identifica??o das fases e sua quantifica??o foram obtidas respectivamente por difra??o de raios X e pelo m?todo de Rietveld. Para determina??o da morfologia e composi??o das part?culas foram utilizados microscopia eletr?nica de varredura e an?lise qu?mica por espectroscopia de energia dispersiva EDS, respectivamente. Tamb?m foram executadas medidas de rugosidades no substrato, medi??es de microdureza Vickers nas aspers?es e determina??o da temperatura eletr?nica do jato de plasma por espectroscopia de emiss?o ?tica EEO. Os resultados obtidos confirmaram a expectativa gerada em torno do produto final da aspers?o da mistura Ta2O5 + Al, tanto na forma??o de part?culas nanom?tricas de t?ntalo quanto no formato final delas. A temperatura de excita??o dos el?trons apresentou valores de 3000, 4500 e 8000 K para fluxos de 10, 20 e 30 l/min respectivamente, esses valores foram tomados na sa?da do bocal do jato de plasma. A temperatura termodin?mica, em torno de 1200 ?C mostrou-se eficiente para o processo de redu??o do Ta2O5

Controle de propriedades de filmes finos de óxido de alumínio através da assistência de feixe iônico / Controlling aluminum oxide thin films properties through ion beam assistance.

Este trabalho tem por objetivo a caracterização de filmes finos de óxido de alumínio produzidos por deposição assistida por feixe de íons Ar+. Tal caracterização consiste em estabelecer a relação entre os parâmetros de produção (energia do feixe e uxo relativo de Ar), a composição e a estrutura dos lmes. Para tanto, utiliza-se técnicas de microscopia de força atômica, difração de raios-x, reetividade de raios-x e análise por feixe iônico. Resultados mostram que amostras produzidas à temperatura ambiente e à 450 oC são amorfas independentemente da energia do feixe iônico. Filmes formados com assistência de feixe possuem qualidade superior àqueles formados por deposição física de vapor. O bombardeamento de íons Ar+ mostra-se capaz de controlar a concentração de hidrogênio, a estequiometria, a rugosidade, o tamanho dos grãos e a densidade dos lmes nos. Amostras com excelente qualidade baixa rugosidade, estequiometria próxima da ideal e boa densidade foram produzidas utilizando íons com energia dentre 300 eV e 600 eV. / The scope of this work is the characterization of aluminum oxide thin films produced by Ar+ ion beam assisted deposition. This characterization consists in establishing the relationship between production parameters (ion beam energy and argon relative ux), structure and composition of these lms. In order to undertake this task, the following techniques were used: atomic force microscopy, x-ray diraction, x-ray reectivity and ion beam analysis. Results show that samples produced at room temperature and at 450 oC are amorphous regardless the ion beam energy. Films grown under ion assistance have better characteristics than the ones deposited by physical vapor deposition. The ion beam bombardment is capable of controlling hydrogen concentration, stoichiometry, roughness, grain size and density of alumina samples. High quality lms at surface and increased density lms with near ideal stoichiometry were produced with 300 eV and 600 eV ion beam energy.

Síntese e caracterização de filmes finos do sistema Y2O3-Er2O3-Al2O3-B2O3 para aplicação como amplificadores ópticos planares. / Thin films preparation and characterization of the Y2O3-Er2O3-Al2O3-B2O3.

Esse trabalho de tese descreve a síntese e a caracterização de materiais amorfos e cristalinos na forma de pó e de filmes finos pertencentes ao sistema Er2O3-Y2O3-Al2O3-B2O3. O principal objetivo do trabalho foi o de obter filmes finos amorfos contendo íons Er3+ próximo à composição YAI3(BO3)4 (YAB), visando sua aplicação como amplificador em dispositivos ópticos integrados. Na síntese das amostras foi empregado o método dos precursores poliméricos e o método sol-gel. Uma vez estabelecida às condições de síntese das resinas e de sóis estáveis, diferentes parâmetros foram otimizados visando à deposição de filmes relativamente espessos e amorfos. As propriedades térmicas, estruturais e ópticas de amostras cristalinas ou amorfas, na forma de pó e na forma de filmes finos, foram caracterizadas através das técnicas de análise termogravimétrica, calorimetria exploratória diferencial, difração de raios X, espectroscopia vibracional na região do infravermelho com transformada de Fourier, espectroscopia Raman e microscopia eletrônica de varredura de alta resolução, microscopia de força atômica, espectroscopia \"m-line\", medidas de espectros de luminescência. Baseado na análise térmica e estrutural das amostras na forma de pó, foi possível realizar a síntese de amostras na forma de filmes finos de composição Y1-xErxAl3(BO3)4 que apresentaram características estruturais, microestruturais e ópticas adequadas à aplicação desejada. Através do estudo das propriedades térmicas e estruturais, foi observado que as amostras preparadas através do método dos precursores poliméricos e do método sol-gel apresentam respectivamente uma temperatura de transição vítrea (Tg) à 723 &#176C e à 746 &#176C e uma temperatura de cristalização (Tc) à 814 &#176C e à 830&#176C. O tratamento térmico à aproximadamente 1150 &#176C da amostra amorfa na forma de pó de composição Y0,9Er0,1Al3(BO3)4 contendo boro em excesso levou a obtenção de uma solução sólida cristalina de composição Y0,9Er0,1Al3(BO3)4. No que se refere às propriedades dos filmes finos, as melhores condições de densificação, homogeneidade, eficiência de guiamento, emissão luminescente e tempo de vida foram observadas quando os filmes de composição Y0,9Er0,1Al3(BO3)4 foram tratados entre as temperaturas de Tg e Tc. Os filmes amorfos de composição Y0,9Er0,1Al3(BO3)4 se comportam como guias monomodos, apresentando alta emissão luminescente e um tempo de vida comparável a outros sistemas amorfos a base de boro. Esse comportamento mostra a viabilidade de aplicação desses filmes amorfos como amplificadores ópticos planares. / This work specifies the synthesis and the characterization of amorphous and crystalline powder and thin films materials belonging to the Er2O3-Y2O3-Al2O3-B2O3 system. The main objective of this work was to develop amorphous thin film samples near the YAI3(BO3)4 composition with yttrium partially substituted by erbium Y1-xErxAl3(BO3)4 with the aim of applying these thin films as waveguide amplifiers in integrated optical systems. The polymeric precursor and the sol-gel methods were applied in order to produce such thin films. After the first step where the conditions to obtain very stable resins and sols was established, different parameters were adjusted aiming the deposition of thick and stable thin films. To well define the best conditions to obtain amorphous and dense thin films, the powder samples of the same compositions were first characterized by thermal analysis techniques, X-ray diffraction, IR and Raman spectroscopies, high resolution electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. From thermal analysis and structural results, it was observed that the samples prepared from the polymeric precursor and sol-gel methods exhibit glass transition temperatures, Tg, at 723 and 746 &#176C and cristallisation temperatures, Tc, at 814 and 830 &#176C, respectively. The heat treatment at around 1150 &#176C of Y0,9Er0,1Al3(BO3)44 powder sample containing a smaller amount of boron in excess produced by both methods lead to the formation of a crystalline solid solution of the same composition without the presence of secondary phases. These results show that dense, free of cracks, thick and homogeneous thin films could be obtained when they were submitted at a heat treatment in temperatures between Tg and Tc. From the \"m-line\" spectroscopy technique and luminescence measurements we observed that the Y0,9Er0,1Al3(BO3)4 amorphous thin films can be considered as monomode waveguides showing a high luminescence intensities and a lifetime similar to other amorphous borate systems. These results show the potentiality to apply such amorphous thin films as optical planar amplifiers.

Efeito de diferentes tratamentos de superfície na resistência de união de um cimento resinoso à zircônia

As ceramicas a base de zirconia (Y-TZP) apresentam propriedades mecanicas superiores as das demais ceramicas odontologicas. Entretanto, o aumento do conteudo cristalino modificou suas caracteristicas de adesao a cimentos resinosos, tornando necessario o desenvolvimento de metodos mais efetivos de uniao a estes materiais. Este trabalho in vitro pretende, portanto, avaliar a influencia de diferentes tratamentos de superficie e de diferentes agentes de uniao na resistencia ao cisalhamento entre uma zirconia estabilizada por itrio e um agente cimentante autoadesivo (RelyX U100®/3M ESPE). Para tal, cilindros de PROCERA® Allzircon receberam como tratamento de superficie jateamento com oxido de aluminio (Al2O3 - 50 m) ou jateamento com o sistema Rocatec. Sobre a superficie tratada dos cilindros foram aplicados, de acordo com os diferentes grupos experimentais, o sistema adesivo Clearfil SE Bond® (Kuraray Co.), e os primers Metal Zirconia Primer (Ivoclar Vivadent) e Alloy Primer (Kuraray Co.) e, finalmente, o cimento resinoso adotado. Cada especime foi, entao, submetido ao teste de cisalhamento (0,05 mm/min), por meio da acao de uma alca de fio ortodontico passando o mais próximo possivel da interface adesiva. A analise de variancia a um criterios (ANOVA) e o teste de Tukey (p<0,05) mostraram que a realizacao do tratamento de superfície aumentou os valores de resistencia de uniao entre a ceramica e o cimento resinoso. O jateamento com o sistema Rocatec (15,33 MPa) apresentou valores significantemente maiores que o jateamento com Al2O3 (11,93 MPa). A aplicacao dos agentes de uniao resultou em uma maior resistencia adesiva, sendo que o sistema adesivo Clearfill SE Bond (17,07 MPa) teve um comportamento estatisticamente superior aos demais materiais. Entre os primers, o Metal Zirconia Primer (11,26 MPa) apresentou maior valor de resistencia de uniao que o Alloy Primer (10,01 MPa). Portanto, a associacao de um tratamento superficial com um agente de união e valida, ja que promoveu os maiores valores de resistencia adesiva. / Yttrium-stabilized tetragonal zircon polycrystal (Y-TZP) ceramics show better mechanical properties than other dental ceramics. However, the high crystalline content modified their adhesiveness to resin cements, making it extremely necessary to develop a more effective adhesive strategy between them. This in vitro study intends to evaluate the influence of different surface treatments and different bond agents on the shear bond strength between a Y-TZP and self-adhesive resin cement. PROCERA® Allzircon cylinders (3.5 mm in diameter) received a surface airborne abrasion treatment with 50 m aluminum-oxide (Al2O3) particles or with the Rocatec system. According to the experimental groups, the adhesive system Clearfil SE Bond® (Kuraray Co.), and the primers Metal Zirconia Primer (Ivoclar Vivadent) and Alloy Primer (Kuraray Co.) were applied on the treated surface of the cylinders, before the application of the adopted resin cement (RelyX U100®/3M ESPE). Each specimen was submitted to the shear bond strength test (0.5 mm/min), by the action of an orthodontic stainless steel ligature wire (0.5 mm in diameter) loop, wrapped around the resin cement, as close as possible to the adhesive interface. One way-ANOVA and Tukey´s post hoc tests (p<0.05) revealed that surface treatment increased bond strength between the ceramic and the resin cement. Silica coating with the Rocatec system (15.33 MPa) showed significantly higher values than airborne abrasion with Al2O3 (11.93 MPa). Application of all bond agents improved shear bond strength: adhesive system Clearfil SE Bond (17.07 MPa) showed better performance than the other evaluated materials, and Metal Zirconia Primer (11.26 MPa) showed higher bond strength values than Alloy Primer (10.01 MPa). Therefore, the association of a surface treatment with a bond agent is suitable, once it resulted in higher values of adhesive strength.
