Benchmarking educational web portals : an application of the Kano method

MacDonald, Catherine Ann 30 March 2010 (has links)
The Kano method1 was used in order to determine the benchmark requirements of an educational web portal. A comprehensive list of possible specifications for an educational portal was constructed by examining the characteristics of educational portals globally. This information was used to develop a questionnaire in accordance with the Kano method. A number of hand-picked expert users were asked to answer the questionnaire. The results obtained from these questionnaires were used to categorize the importance of each component of a web portal as a “one-dimensional”2 , “must-be”3 or “attractive”4 requirement. The components categorized as “must-be” requirements were used to generate the benchmark of the minimum specifications of an educational web portal. What is the Problem of Sustainability? : A Review of the municipality of Malmö’s Environmental Programme 2019-2020

Hyltén-Cavallius, Gorm January 2020 (has links)
In 2015 every member of the United Nations accepted Agenda 2030, a guideline for sustainable development with the aim of keeping the temperature from rising above two degrees Celsius. However, it’s still not clear what it seeks to sustain, and the logic behind the concept remains elusive. This thesis aims to examine the meaning behind environmental sustainability by investigating how Agenda 2030 is interpreted by urban planners in Malmö, through analysing the problematisations made in the environmental programme for environmental sustainability in Malmö. The analysis relies on the idea that a policy is created in order to solve a problem. By examining what is seen as a problem the underlying logic of the policies will be discerned. By examining the problematisations of the environmental programme of the municipality of Malmö between 2019-2020 the research will elucidate what environmental sustainability means in the context of Malmö, Sweden. The research showed that the municipality wishes to make optimal use of environmental sustainability as a tool for social, economic and environmental development through changed behaviour of businesses, staff at Malmö Stad, and its citizens. The municipality’s environmental programme implies that unsustainability stems from lack of knowledge, which causes people to make unsustainable choices. Environmental sustainability, as presented, by the municipality of Malmö’s policy document to be about optimising and increasing the environment’s beneficial effects for humans.

Att samordna ett tolkat samtal via skärmen : Teckenspråkstolkens samordnande funktion vid distanstolkning / Coordinating an interpreted conversation through the screen

Mellqvist, Andreas January 2021 (has links)
This study examines professional sign language interpreters view on similarities and differences between interpreting on site and remote interpreting. The study also examines coordination and the understanding of the word by sign language interpreters. The material for this study consists of videorecorded interviews which have been analysed based on the study’s research questions. Sign language is a visual language and therefore has grammatical differences to spoken language, for example the signing space in front of the person signing. This study examines what parts of interpreting that change when it is performed remotely and therefore becomes two- instead of three-dimensional for the recipient. The study also investigates how the interpreting is affected when the interpreter users are not in the same physical room as the interpreter. The results show that remote interpreting limits the reference system as well as how bodily orientation is used as a resource in an interpreted conversation. The interpreter can turn towards an interpreter user during on-site interpreting in order to get their attention discreetly, however, in remote interpreting this body turn does not work in the same way, seeing as the screen is two dimensional and that the interpreter user is not in the same physical room as the interpreter.

Porovnání vybraných oborů vzdělávací oblasti Člověk a příroda českého kurikula RVP ZV s integrovaným předmětem Přírodní vědy v evropských kurikulech / Comparison of selected disciplines of educational area Man and Nature of the Czech curriculum with the integrated subject Natural Sciences in European curricula

Blaško, Michal January 2021 (has links)
Education policy is one of the important goals of any country, as it affects the lives and employment of its people. Compulsory education in the Czech Republic is defined by the Framework Educational Programme for Basic Education (FEP BE), with science education set out in educational area called Man and Nature. Although this is divided into individual educational fields, its framework concept allows the content of the fields to be integrated according to school programme. However, science has been taught separately in most basic schools for several decades, and any integration efforts are burdened by a lack of examples of good practice. The aim of this paper is therefore to perform comparative analysis of the educational area Man and Nature of the Czech FEP BE and integrated science curricula of selected European countries at the level of lower secondary education (ISCED 2). The analysis identifies topics that are included in foreign curricula but not in Czech curriculum and can thus be an inspiration (in the sense of policy learning), what integrative topics to include in the science education at basic schools. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the integration of natural sciences, both from a historical and curriculum development perspective. Theoretical models describing different...

Mäns våld mot kvinnor - en samtida syn : En diskursanalys av mäns våld mot kvinnor inom ramen för det svenska riksdagsarbetet

Koverberg, Wilma, Widmark, Moa January 2023 (has links)
The aim of this study is to examine how the problem of ‘men's violence against women’ is represented and defined within the framework of parliamentary work in Sweden. With a poststructural approach the method of choice is a discourse analysis, in particular Carol Bacchi´s approach ’What´s the problem represented to be?’. The fundamental idea of this method is that the suggested solution to a problem indicates what one thinks needs to change, and thereby what the ‘problem’ is. In accordance with this method, we have analyzed eleven political documents (motions) which underlie further legalization and decision making, authoredbetween 2017-2022. All the selected political documents include solutions to the problem of men’s violence against women, domestic violence and/or honor related violence. Previous research has shown that the political debate has a significant impact on how a phenomenon is understood. Therefore, each epoch has a certain way of representing and defining a problem. In this study, four problem representations were identified: ‘lack of support’, ‘the legal system’,‘lack of knowledge’ and ‘social norms’. Together these themes represent how contemporary society comprehends the problem of men's violence against women. Acknowledging this is ofimportance because the problem representation provides a framework of action – for society, as well as the individual.

How to develop financial services by incorporating a job-centric approach / Utveckling av finansiella tjänster genom att integrera en jobbcentrerad modell

JOHANSSON, DANIEL, ROMBY, SIMON January 2020 (has links)
The financial industry is and have been going through a transformation due to digitalisation and globalization, recently breaching the long unaffected investment banking sector. Together with the implementation of the MiFID II regulation, which has been a catalyst for investment banks, this has led to increasing competition in the sector.  Evidence suggests, through a cross-discipline consensus, that the traditional comprehension of competitive advantage is no longer sufficient, and that innovation is instead a key strategic issue in order to sustain a competitive position and to potentially strengthen it during change.  This study empirically investigates how investment banks can utilize a job-centric approach to innovation based on causality, i.e. the cause and effect mechanisms that cause customers to make the choices they do in given circumstances. The empirical data consists of interviews with existing and prospective clients to the case-company with regards to the service of commissioned research. A theoretical framework based on the literature is created and used to analyse the qualitative empirical data.  The findings of this thesis suggest that investment banks indeed can develop their services by incorporating a job centric approach in order to stay competitive during an industrial transformation. The passive data obtained as a result of the analysis can be utilized for development and innovation purposes. To competently use the results requires an adaptation to a certain culture of innovative thinking, one that focuses on the job to be done rather than internal processes.

Kompaktní město - aneb co nového se může ještě dít v Brně mezi nádražími / Compact Town - or what new is able to yet be done in Brno among railway stations

Novosad, Ondřej January 2009 (has links)
Urban-architectural study of the new city part between the current and the future main station in Brno. The study is focused on creating a new concept of urban area as an alternative to the present intention based on the actual city plan. The main impulse to update the building layout of this developing municipal area is the integration of the new city high-speed railway. The particular attention is drawn to the utilization of two levels of the urban area originating from different levels of terrain and train yards. The integral part of the space arrangement on the principle of a compact city is also the application of theory and the observation of the tenable city. The core of the concept is the programmed structure of buildings density which is interlaced with the network of public transport and private atria. Within the frame of this structure two urban projects have been developed in details. Firstly, it is the placement of new Janaček´s centre of musical art at the place of reconstructed Svratka bank in the south part of the area. The other motive is the concept of the stop of a speed train in the very centre of this area. The stop features the central square and is involved in the complex of the congress centre. All this area is completed with the concept of a new municipal spa. The programme of the whole study is to complete city areas with facilities and functions which are considered to be absent. The quality of the project can be assessed, compared to the city plan of Brno.
