Related violence and social policies facts, as well as the discourses oriented towards the citizenship promotion, pervade the public and private spheres of life of women living in urban peripheries. In this way, it is proposed to understand how the participation in the project "Mulheres da Paz" (Ministry of Justice/Brazil) developed in the city of Rio de Janeiro has been organized, when women act in the public space and in the treatment of violence. In addition, through a historical resumption of the condition of women and the space of the city in question, the context in which public security policies such as “Mulheres da Paz”. In the field research, I used, the analysis of documents and databases, as well as the realization of focus groups, interviews and participant observation of ethnographic inspiration. In the meantime, I have noted that women have been producing new meanings for their own trajectories, and they have articulated new networks and strategies by claiming to reduce violent practices and share political responsibility.

Protestant communities as mission communities / by Hyun Jin Kim

Kim, Huyan Jin January 2011 (has links)
Community is an integrative motif and the central message of the Bible. The divine goal of history is God's establishment of community. The Triune God is the origin of community and community is the mode of existence of God. Christian community is derived from God's community. The church is a community restored by the Triune God, and so the essence of the church is Christian community. The Bible is the history of community involving the beginning of community, the destruction of community, the restoration of community, and the completion of community. Christian community is a channel of realization of the kingdom of God. As a restored community, the early church was a loving, sharing, praying, and witnessing community. The early church's common possession and sharing of materials in brotherly love had continuously been practiced throughout the churches as indicated in the books of Acts and the Epistles. The early church is a model of Christian community that believers must always strive for and constantly return to. It is possible to live the life of the early church community even now. This is proven by the history of the Protestant community and contemporary Protestant communities. Christian community is not just a conceptual, but also a practical community. Christian community can be practiced in various forms. Protestant community includes the four modes: intentional Christian community, monastic community, church community, and cell group community. These four modes have an equal value in a sense that they exert the communal spirit in diverse ways. These four modes of Protestant community have appeared throughout the history of Protestant community. Protestant communities influenced the renewal of the established church through their devoted community life of love. They have been the wellsprings of renewal in Protestantism. Protestant communities also become a place of reconciliation between divided Christians and denominations. The communities have a role as mediator of reconciliation among divided churches and denominations. Community movements have also acted as the main mission movement in the history of Protestant mission. The main missions such as the Anabaptists, Moravians, and modern mission societies all exerted a powerful mission in a communal basis. The contribution of the Moravian missionaries of the Herrnhut community, beginning half a century before William Carey, brought about a shift of emphasis in missionary awareness within Protestantism. The Herrnhut community included the centripetal mission and centrifugal mission by living an intentional community and sending Moravian missionaries. Mission should be exerted from a community dimension, not an individual level. The history of Protestant mission and contemporary Protestantism testifies that mission through community is the most effective and powerful method of mission. Up to now mission has usually been confined to centrifugal mission at an individual level, which emphasized preaching the gospel to foreign regions. It is a phenomenon of unbalanced mission. A balanced mission includes both centripetal and centrifugal mission. Mission is not only a matter of the scope of preaching the gospel to the ends of earth, but also a matter of content. The content of mission is a radical discipleship and whole gospel in all–inclusiveness, containing centripetal and centrifugal mission, Christian presence and Christian proclamation, and the New Commandment and the Great Commission. Community is an essence of church and an essence of mission. / Thesis (Ph.D. (Missiology))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2011.

This academic work was developed by a series of questions about the Brazilian political participation. Seeking to understand its mechanism, the associative forms of activities in the city of Juiz de Fora were studied from 1974 to 1988, and its role in the promotion of participative spaces. In this journey, the paths crossed facilitate the understanding that the movement founded must be understood in the uniqueness of that specific moment. The associative movement integrated a horizontal network which, in most cases, was the result of the context of the neighborhood and, although fragmented, was an important experience that had significant impact on performance of social movements and society as a whole. The advent of “Pro-Neighborhood Improvement Societies” in the 40’s, is a milestone in the history of the community movement in the city. Until the 70’s, the societies would be the main bridges between the people and the public administration. During the redemocratization, the emergence or reemergence of other actors would become the political game more complex by giving more strength to the associative activities. This is the case of the movement “Unibairros” which presented a more combative and questioning posture, acting in the political awareness and joining forces to promote participation. During the period covered by this study, the relationship among the city hall and the movements consisted as a point of tension, splitting in half the political forces of the city. However, the social mobilization around the collective problems reinforced community ties and solidarity, promoting the political participation of various actors immersed in what is called “mass”, amplifying the voice of popular aspirations for better living conditions.

[en] From the Ends to the Means, from History to Discourse: framing and amplification on Porto Alegre`s Participatory Budget traces a panorama of community and participationist struggles in the city of Porto Alegre, Brazil, until the the Workers` Party mayor Olívio Dutra`s term in office (1989-1992) . From a report of the experiences and projects of Porto Alegre`s community movement, as well as from the discourse analysis of Participatory Budget promotion, the study reveals a process in which the subjects and senses of participation are transformed in a way that, instead of weakening the hegemony of the dominant group within the community movement, strengthened it.

[en] RESISTANCE AND COUNTER-HEGEMONIC MEMORY: A STUDY ON THE PERMANENCE STRUGGLE OF THE MUSEUM OF MARÉ / [pt] RESISTÊNCIA E MEMÓRIA CONTRA-HEGEMÔNICA: UM ESTUDO SOBRE A LUTA DE PERMANÊNCIA DO MUSEU DA MARÉ

CARLOS AUGUSTO BAPTISTA 21 December 2020 (has links)
[en] There is a process of erasing knowledge production dynamics that emerge from the peripheries, from precarious urban areas, located in Hills, Slums, Villages and Tenements. The present research resumes the efforts of recognition and visibility of these productions, having as their field of study the Museu da Maré and its direct relationship with memory production processes, in different situations and with different social actors, involved in the struggle for the permanence and dynamization of the museal culture in the set of favelas in Tide. The dissertation analyzes the strategies and dynamics of local social movements, through the role of their organic intellectuals, the community leaders who founded one of the first favela museums in the world, in 2006. The Museum of Maré is part of the effort of social museology in questioning traditional museology, giving voice to those who have always been deprived of leading their own stories. His museum project summarizes the socio-historical process of producing the urban space of Maré in 12 stages, by describing the daily lives of its residents. Through participant observation and semi-structured interviews, the present work penetrates the poetics of construction and consolidation of collective, insurgent and counter hegemonic memory in Maré. The fieldwork accompanied the set of activities promoted by the Museum, which reveals an organizational praxis of local memory, in contrast to the forgetfulness generated by the hegemonic production of the urban space of the city of Rio de Janeiro, which produces a city producing anticity.

This research analyses the relevance of diaconal action of a regional German community association in its social environment. The explorative study aims to give insight into the social relevance, developments in diaconal practice and the general understanding of diaconia prevalent in this brethren association. After an introduction focusing on practical theology and church history, the study concentrates on the planning, implementation and results of interviews applying the empirical-theological practice cycle. These interviews with ten experts were part of the main research. Through applying the grounded theory, six typologies of diaconal relevance in society emerged from several coding processes. These types were arranged in a 3x3 matrix showing diaconal relevance for society (minimal – increasing – prominent) and eschatology (negative – neutral – positive) as coordinates. The research results formed the basis of ideas presented for further development of the sphere of diaconal action in this community association. / Practical Theology / M. Th. (Practical Theology)
