The oscillation is due to the rotation of a unbalanced mass moved by DC motor with limited power supply. We consider situations where the frequencies of the block and the pendulum are in 1:1, 1:2 and 2:1 internal resonances, and we analyse the behavior of the block - motor - pendulum system through numerical simulations. A similar analysis is performed in the case where the dynamical system has a periodic horizontal oscillation of type F cos wt.

Gestion de l'énergie dans un réseau de capteurs au niveau application / Energy management of a wireless sensor network at application level

Mokrenko, Olesia 20 November 2015 (has links)
Energy is a key resource in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), especially when sensor nodes are powered by batteries. This thesis is investigates how to save energy of the whole WSN, at the application level, thanks to control strategies, in real time and in a dynamic way. The first energy management strategy investigated is based on Model Predictive Control (MPC). The choice of MPC is motivated by the global objectives that are to reduce the energy consumption of the set of sensor nodes while ensuring a given service, named mission, for the sensor network. Moreover, a set of constraints on the binary control variables and on the sensor modes must be fulfilled. The second energy management strategy at the application level is based on a Hybrid Dynamical System (HDS) approach. This choice is motivated by the hybrid inherent nature of the WSN system when energy management is considered. The hybrid nature basically comes from the combination of continuous physical processes, namely, the charge / discharge of the node batteries; while the discrete part is related to the change in the functioning modes and the Unreachable condition of the nodes. The proposed strategies are evaluated and compared in simulation on a realistic test-case. Lastly, they have been implemented on a real test-bench and the results obtained have been discussed.

Agile Project Management for Knowledge-Based Projects in Manufacturing Industry : Case Study: Epiroc Drilling Tools, Fagersta, Sweden

Aggarwal, Shubhesh, Kaldi, Kjzal January 2018 (has links)
Epiroc Drilling Tools is a manufacturing company that produces tools for rock mining and excavation. The company adopted the principles and framework of Lean Product Development in their R&D department with few practices of an agile framework called Scrum. These agile practices are used in the pre-study phase or the knowledge value stream of their lean product development. Hence, this research is limited to the knowledge value stream within the R&D department. The use of agile project management in manufacturing industry is unique and majority of the agile frameworks are specifically designed to suit the needs of software development companies. Several theories like Scrum, Lean, Kanban and DSDM were studied by the researchers to scrutinize the current framework of the department. The challenges and the similarities of the currently used framework with several other agile frameworks and the companies are discussed. Several qualitative research methods were adopted to know the viewpoints of the working employees in the department which are compared with other companies like Volvo Cars, ABB, LShift, EnergySoftware and from another division of Epiroc called Rocktec Automation who faced some similar challenges while practicing agile project management. After further research on the theories and comparison of the process, roles of the working employees and documentations within the knowledge value stream, DSDM had more similarities with the currently used framework than Scrum. This allowed to recommend ways that can fill the missing gaps using practices of DSDM without altering the existing working procedure in the knowledge value stream. This ensures that the improvement in the knowledge value stream remains continuous. On the contrary, a brief discussion is included on whether there is a need to be agile for manufacturing industries or is it just a changing trend in the field of project management.

Orientadores: Jose Manoel Balthazar, Helder Anibal Hermini / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Engenharia Mecanica / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-05T09:56:56Z (GMT). As últimas duas ressonâncias estão associadas com excitações de baixa freqüência / Abstract: This work concerns of two parts, in the first we will make the study of the dynamics of dual-spin-spacecraft modeled by a simple mechanical system consisting of an unbalanced rotor attached to an elastic support and driven by non-ideal source. In the second part we will formulate the complete nonlinear differential equations governing the nonlinear motions of a beam able to undergo bending and pitching in space. The formulation is based on a variational principle and accounts for all the nonlinearities due to deformation and gravity gradient effects. The nonlinearities due to deformation arise due to geometric effects, which consist of nonlinear curvature and nonlinear inertia terms. Expanded equations governing the nonlinear perturbed motions about an equilibrium are also developed for the case when the beam is in circular orbit. Such equations are suited for a perturbation analysis of the motion, and nonlinearities up to cubic order in a bookkeeping parameter are retained in them. The coupled nonlinear pitch-bending response of a free-free beam in a circular orbit, when the beam is subjected to a periodic external excitation, is analysed too. The nonlinearities present in the differential equations of motion are due to deformations of the beam (i. e. curvature and inertia nonlinearities) and to the gravity-gradient moments. Perturbation methods are used to analyse the motion. Several resonant motions exhibited by the system are analysed in detail, namely, harmonic resonances when the frequency of the external excitations, O, is either near the natural frequency of the flexural or of the pitch motion, and a superharmonic resonance when O is near one half of the natural frequency for the pitch motion. The latter two resonances are associated with very low excitation frequencies / Mestrado / Mecanica dos Sólidos e Projeto Mecanico / Mestre em Engenharia Mecânica

Modeling of fire protection systems in intelligent building through Petri net.

Percy Javier Igei Kaneshiro 01 December 2006 (has links)
From the point of view of property damage and personal security, the fire protection system (FPS) is one of the most important systems in an intelligent building (IB). The FPS is composed of several devices and control strategies. Furthermore, it must act in accordance with specific laws. As a consequence the design of FPSs is a complex task and it is very important to provide an adequate model that supports the verification of the FPS dynamics and its integration with others building systems, facilitating its test and validation. In this context, this work proposes a procedure to model in a systematic and rational way a FPS in the IB context. Considering the nature of the structure and processes of FPS the approach is based on the discrete event dynamic system theory and the application of the Petri net. Then, the models the FPS control system and the controlled plant must include its integration with other building systems. Particularly, it explores Petri net extensions such as Production Flow Schema and Mark Flow Graph techniques. Through an example it is illustrated the main aspects of the proposed procedure.

Modélisation agile pour un système de fabrication complexe et dynamique / Agile modeling for a complex and dynamic manufacturing system

Ben Amira, Ahmed 14 October 2015 (has links)
In a full automation context with a strong Information Technology (IT) component, organizational transformations should always be accompanied by an evolution of the different information systems. In that sense, operational users of the information systems must recognize the use of information systems in terms of their functionality, and their ability to rapidly and continuously answer the requirements of the evolution of the organization.Having Information Systems (IS) which reflect businesses is not a luxury for companies. The shortfall for the company in the absence of alignment is the impact on the organization performance: The non-adequacy of the IS limits the daily tasks and degrades the potential benefits of full automation. Thus, the production system is conditioned by the IS. Beyond its functional necessity, alignment is also justified by the cost of its implementation compared to a non-alignment.This thesis aims at ensuring systematic and continuous Business / IT alignment in a complex and dynamic environment. Our study was led by the specificity of the case study and the literature review. We propose a methodology based on a "Reference Model" to minimize the Business / IT alignment gap. From a functional standpoint, the methodology relies on capturing user requirements in a Reference Model and finding acceptable compromises for the IT development, to reach the alignment incrementally. The methodology is applied on a “processability” case study in semiconductor manufacturing.
