Following the Recipe Brings Franchisees to the Table : A Case Study Consolidating Purchasing and Calculating Cost Savings at Franchisees / Following the Recipe Brings Franchisees to the Table : A Case Study Consolidating Purchasing and Calculating Cost Savings at Franchisees

Engblom, Matilda, Nyberg, Katarina January 2019 (has links)
Course: Degree Project in Supply Chain Management, the Business Administration and Economics Programme, 4FE19E Authors: Matilda Engblom and Katarina Nyberg Supervisor: Arash Kordestani Examiner: Helena Forslund Title: Following the Recipe Brings Franchisees to the Table - A Case Study Consolidating Purchasing and Calculating Cost Savings at Franchisees Background: As a franchisor, Company X does not have insight or control in purchasing at their franchisees. Spend analysis is a tool used to identify current purchased volumes and costs. An aim with spend analysis is to decrease the cost and analyse the spend. There are four different types of consolidation that can consolidate the current purchased volumes and create purchasing cost savings. They are article, volume, supplier and transport consolidation. However, identifying the current situation can be hard in the franchise concept and therefore hard to create purchasing cost savings. It is therefore of need for the franchisor to have insight and control over their franchisees in purchasing. Purpose: The purpose of this study is mainly to identify how the current purchased volumes can be consolidated to create purchasing cost savings for the franchisees of Company X in the Middle East. In addition, calculate the purchasing cost savings that consolidation could lead to. As well as, investigate how a franchisor can regain insight and control in purchasing over their franchisees. Methodology: This case study had a mixed research strategy of explanatory sequential design. Empirical data was collected by both unstructured, semi-structured and structured interviews. The analytical methodology was based on pattern matching. Confidentiality has been of great focus during the study for ethical considerations. Conclusion: The current purchased volumes and costs were identified, enabling different types of consolidation and calculations for purchasing costs. The consolidation model (Figure 28, p. 43) illustrates four different types of consolidation, article, volume, supplier and transportation, which should be followed. Lastly, Table 38 (p. 85) presents actions for regaining insight and control over franchisees.

The Perceived Customer

Eriksson, David, Omrani, Amin H January 2010 (has links)
One big issue for the mail order business is how to avoid and manage returns. Oneapproach being taken is that consumer insight can result in better customer satisfaction andfewer returns. The fashion industry delivers more than just a function within the clothes;fashion, excitement, and customer service for example. It is believed that a part of demand chain management, consumer insight, can help toreduce the amount of returns. This thesis approaches this issue from a company point ofview. It is investigated how mail order businesses utilizes opportunities given byeCommerce, how the companies perceives their customers, and how well they are able totailor their services to different consumer groups.Online sales channels were reviewed in order to investigate how the company is perceivedand what kinds of efforts the companies go through in order to add value to the customers. These results were combined with interviews of three companies in the mail order businessand one company selling clothes in retail stores. The complexity of the customer and the silo mentality in many companies was the firsthurdle to emerge. It was hard to get in contact with the right person. The interviewsshowed both focus on products and focus of really understanding the customer. Thisshowed both in the rigid layout of the homepages and the lack of understanding thatcustomers might have different needs when it comes to value adding services. However, the interviewed companies had varying ways of defining their customer’s needs. It is evident after this thesis that a lot of work can be done in order to better understand thecustomers, for example investigating causes to returns and how differentiated servicesmight improve how the customers perceive the service. In order to succeed in a holisticapproach, cooperation between mail order companies might be required.

The discussions about creativity indicate difficulties in the definition of what would be an "original" or "creative" pattern and in identifying what variables would control it. Among the interpretations of this phenomenon there is one which is called spontaneous "interconnection of repertoires", when two or more different repertoires, learned in separate, join in new situations producing original sequences of behavior. The problem solving in a sudden way through this interconnection was called "Insight". One process participating in that interconnection would be "Functional Generalization". The present study replicated with some changes, using three rats (Rattus norvegicus) as subjects (S1, S2 and S3), the original work of Epstein (1985b) and investigated the role of "Functional Generalization" in the interconnection of repertoires. The subjects S1 and S2 were taught three different repertoires separately. The S1 learned (1) to push a cube toward a goal, (2) to climb and to rise on the cube and (3) to pull a string. The S2 learned (1) to push the cube with no goal, (2) to climb and to rise on the cube and the (3) to pull a string. The S3 just learned (1) to climb and to rise on cube and (2) to pull a current. After the training they were put into a problem-situation-problem that would demand the interconnection of the learned abilities to arrive to the final step which was to pull a string. The S1 and S2 solved the problem in different ways: one solved in a random way and the other solved after additional training to climb and to pull a string which established important links for the resolution. The S3 didn't solve the problem. The data indicated that functional generalization could be explained as simple generalization and that this would not be a fundamental requirement for the sudden resolution of the problem.

A Study of Bangladesh Telecom Market

Alamgir, Rana, Anand, Nitin January 2008 (has links)
<p>Target Audience: The management of TeliaSonera is our main target audience. Also students from management, marketing and business administration are our secondary concern.</p><p>Problem Statement: “How suitable is Bangladesh telecom market for an internationalized telecom company (TeliaSonera), and what could be a preferable entry strategy for such market?”</p><p>Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate Bangladesh telecom market in order to find out the potentiality of the market which could be considered by the company to think about starting a business there and also to determine a suitable entry strategy from the company depending on the factors have been investigated.</p><p>Methodology: The project is based on both primary and secondary information retrieved in connection with the theoretical framework. A qualitative approach of research and analysis has been considered to reach the desirable result.</p><p>Theoretical Framework: The theoretical framework has been created with Porter’s (1998) five forces and National Diamond together with factors that influence the international entry strategy described by Franklin R (1998)</p><p>Findings: While presenting the data, we have followed a structure. We have divided all our data in four parts. They are namely, The Focal Company Factors, Home country (Sweden) factors, the Focal country (Bangladesh) Factors, and the Focal country’s (Bangladesh) Telecom market factors. All data have been presented under the respective headings of these parts and also with some corresponding subheadings.</p><p>Analysis: The analysis is based on the result of a consolidated evaluation of relevant theory and empirical information collected accordingly. All the collected information has been observed through the gloss of theoretical framework and has been used for answering the problem statement.</p><p>Conclusion: After investigating the factors of Bangladesh telecom market, we can conclude that it will be a good idea for TeliaSonera to expand their business in Bangladesh as both the industry and the country has a lot of potential to offer. An Investment entry mode (Joint Venture) has been suggested. It is worth mentionable that this paper is a preliminary idea about the market to encourage TeliaSonera to expand in Bangladesh which reveals the opportunity for further research.</p>

Rojo Martínez, Angela 01 January 1996 (has links)
The thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part the theoretical framework underlying the research is described, as are the principal conceptual approaches which contribute to the definition of high intellectual ability. Special emphasis is laid on wide and varied approaches which enable gifted subjects to be identified by taking mary other variables into consideration besides intellectual potential. The second part describes the empirical studies carried out and analyses the must significant results and conclusions.

Lalova, Maria 30 November 2012 (has links) (PDF)

Two Styles of the Insight Creation Process : A multiple case study of how four organizations gain insights from external information

Petersson, Erik, Östergaard, Oscar January 2012 (has links)
Using external information to gain insights is becoming increasingly important in today’s knowledge based economies. However, from both research and practice it is somewhat unclear how organizations manage these activities. Therefore the purpose of this paper is to explore how four different organizations manage their insight creation process from external information. To do this, a literature review about insight creation is done to create an analytical framework. Based on this framework, the insight creation process is analyzed within the organizations to find characteristics of each process. Next, a cross case analysis is conducted that reveal the main differences between the organizations. The results indicate two main styles of managing the insight creation process that can be differentiated with regards to formality. As such, this paper complements previous research within the area of competitive intelligence and knowledge management in the sense that it increases the understanding of the insight creation process.
