Loots, Deone Este 12 1900 (has links)
Thesis (MDiv (Practical Theology and Missiology))--University of Stellenbosch, 2007. / This assignment takes a look at the relevance of the declaration signed on the day of legitimation by future pastors of the Ned. Geref. Kerk. It is evaluated according to its use for pastors as a guide for speaking about God contextually and in unity. A hermeneutical approach is used in which the NGK’s three confessions of unity, the Reformed confessional tradition and the history of the NGK aid in testing the relevance of this declaration. The initial role of the signing of confessions as a deed that creates unity and identity helps to show how the current declaration fails to continue with this role. It is therefore necessary that the NGK reconsiders their use and wording of the declaration. The conclusion includes a proposal for an alternative declaration which focuses on responsible hermeneutics rather than the content of teachings.

Janse, Rhe, Hendriks, H. J., Cilliers, J. H. 12 1900 (has links)
Thesis (DTh)--University of Stellenbosch, 2002. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Over the past few years the Dutch Reformed Church has been embroiled in a debate regarding worship within the church. Whilst the worship within a congregation has become one of the most important factors in church growth, it is also one of the reasons why some congregations loose membership and shrink in size. A major point of contention within this debate relates to the use of praise. To many believers, praise has become a process through which they worship and reinforce their faith. Instead of unifying the church in her worship of God, the current emphasis on praise within the church has become a source of frustration and a point of contention. This controversy mainly centres around the style with which praise is practiced within the congregation and is exacerbated by a lack of knowledge surrounding the topic and the diversity that exists within congregations. Members of the Dutch Reformed Church has widely divergent life views and also possess different spiritualities. To determine the use of praise within divergent congregations, this study evaluated the nature and function of praise within the context of the liturgy. Subsequently, a method to manage the diversity within congregations was developed. In 1980, Holmes developed a spirituality typology within which he identified four spirituality groups. Based on the spirituality typology, some spirituality analyses were formed to help congregations and individuals to test their spirituality. These analyses were used to identify the correlation between a spirituality group and their worship requirements. The results from this research clearly showed a positive correlation between these two parameters and also highlighted the value of using the spirituality analysis as a method to manage the different praise and worship requirements that exists within congregations.

Eucharistic doctrine in Scottish Episcopacy, 1620-1875

Kornahrens, W. D. January 2008 (has links)
This thesis is an examination of the eucharistic doctrine of ten Scottish theological writers in the tradition of Scottish Episcopacy; five from the seventeenth century, two from the eighteenth century, and three from the nineteenth century. The doctrine espoused by each one throughout the stated period, 1620–1875, is found to agree with the other writers considered herein, because each writer turned to many of the same Church Fathers as the source of his doctrine and his interpretation of Holy Scripture. The argument of this thesis is that all of the writers, rejecting the Tridentine, Lutheran, Bezan-Calvinist, and Zwinglian definitions of the Eucharist, maintained a material sacrifice in the Eucharist, which is an offering to God the Father of bread and wine as the propitiatory memorial of Christ’s death on the Cross, commanded by Christ himself at the Last Supper. The sacrifice is propitiatory because it is the means of representing the one sacrifice of Christ on the Cross to God the Father, thereby pleading the benefits of the Cross for the communicants. The bread and wine do not change substance, but become effectively the body and blood of Christ. Three of the ten writers produced eucharistic rites, one in the seventeenth century, and two in the eighteenth century. It is argued that each of these rites is expressive of the Eucharist as being a commemorative and representative sacrifice. Each rite explicitly offers bread and wine to the Father, invokes the Holy Spirit’s action over the elements, and prays that by receiving the consecrated bread and wine as the body and blood of Christ, the communicants will receive the forgiveness of sins, the continuing grace of the Holy Spirit, and eternal life.

Porovnání Evangelické církve augsburského vyznání (ECAV) a Evangelické církve metodistické (ECM) na Slovensku v základních věroučných otázkách a liturgických důrazech se zaměřením na přínos v ekumenickém sjednocení / A Comparison of the Evangelical Church of Augsburg Confession and Evangelical Methodist Church in Slovakia in their Basic Dogmatic Issues and Liturgical Emphasis Focusing on the Contribution in Ecumenical Union

Lukáč, Ivan January 2015 (has links)
The theme of this work is to compare the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession and the Evangelical Methodist Church in Slovakia, the basic issues of faith and liturgical emphases, focusing on the contribution of the ecumenical environment to refer first to the historical and theological background and then the difference in understanding Christian worship and its liturgical expression, in further outline the importance of sacramentology, spirituality, religious dogmatic. We also attempt to compare the emphasis in the understanding of doctrine and traditions of individual churches. Both Churches with its Protestant character bear the common name "Evangelical Church" and that is the reason why to deal and examine the differences and look for the content of unity. We have considered that in spite of historical and liturgical divergences combines both these churches the fundamental reformation principle of "Sola Scriptura", which means that in practice it is possible creating mutual ecumenical cooperation not only at the Ecumenical Council of Churches (ERC) in Slovakia, but also at the level of inter-mission activities of the churches and parishes.

Druhá liturgie Církve československé husitské / The Second Liturgy of Czechoslovak Hussite Church

Basl, Vojtěch January 2011 (has links)
Presented work has in its first part tried to evaluate both textual and theological development of the liturgy in the Czechoslovak (Hussite) church. It has focused on Farsky's translation of the Roman Mass from 1919, first liturgical reforms of the young church, liturgical diversification and unifiction in newly conceived liturgy by Karel Farsky in 1923. The work further follows development of such liturgy, especially its revision in 1939 and attempts of liturgical renewal in seventies and eighties of the twentieth century. The final conclusion of the thesis resides in stating that revision was crucial for blurring certain parts of Farsky's liturgy. It was not conciliated with Učení, official doctrinal document of the Church, and also didn't stay in line with its origin. The main part of the work is focused on analysis of singular parts of Second Liturgy s it was adopted by Assembly in 1991. We attempt to compare this liturgy with earlier versions as mentioned above. This thesis particularly states, that recent version of the Second Liturgy presents two parts of the liturgy of the Word, when the first reading is sharply distinguished from the rest. Furthermore, Opening antiphon (Introit) and Communium antiphon (Communio) are misleadingly placed. In fact, only Offertory antiphon (Offertorium) is located...

Responsoriální žalmy Karla Skleničky / Karel Sklenička 's Responsorial Psalms

Nedbalová, Josefína January 2019 (has links)
The diploma thesis consists of three parts. The first one describes the historical role of psalms during masses from their origin until presence. It illuminates the new role of psalms in the Cathlolic liturgy after the second Vatican council and outlines how these liturgical changes projected into Czech Catholic enviroments. The second part introduces significant Czech psalters and their authors. The psalters were created for liturgical needs and in reaction to the conclusions of the 2VC for liturgical needs. The third, main part of the thesis consists of detailed analysis of 1992 Karel Sklenička's psalter Responsoriální žalmy pro neděle a významné dny liturgického roku. The analysis of harmonic and melodic procedures of individual tones serves as a basis for the practival part of the thesis which is an extension of existing Sklenička's psalter to all days of liturgical year. The new psalter preserves the music component composed by Karel Sklenička and also preserves the way of work with the liturgical text in new psalms following the pattern of Karel Sklenička. The new psalter keeps strictly to the liturgically prescribed texts for individual liturgical occasions like the psalter from 1992.

[en] THE MEMORIAL: CONTINUATION OF THE REDEMPTIVE WORK OF JESUS CHRIST / [pt] O MEMORIAL: CONTINUAÇÃO DA OBRA REDENTORA DE JESUS CRISTO

CELIO DA SILVEIRA CALIXTO FILHO 23 January 2015 (has links)
[en] Among the elements of Christian liturgy, the memorial has main importance, since it actualizes the divine actions through the history of salvation, bringing today its redeeming force, and opens a perspective of future to the participants of the cult. The memorial is deeply linked to Gods alliance with Abraham and his descendants, which reaches its most important step with Jesus Christ. The next point is verified in the sacramental realities, in which the faithful community experiences salvation. Going through economy of salvation, it is possible to notice the memorial as continuing the redemption of Christ, the only universal redeemer.

Leister, Fátima Cristina 25 May 2012 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 Fatima Cristina Leister.pdf: 7649157 bytes, checksum: 36c1cf1ad0ee28bfee66d7927867aae7 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-05-25 / In spite of the publication of Law 10.369 in 2003, which made the teaching of the history and culture of Africa and African Brazilians compulsory, there is still much to be done to reduce the defects in the national curriculum and offer better guidance for the study of the Africas and of Africans. There are still many avenues that need to be explored in order to fill the gaps that the colonial legacy has left. To this end, in order to broaden historical horizons and contribute to the historiographical debate already under way, the focus of the present work is directed at the area occupied by current Guinea-Bissau, especially during the period of the Imperial Colonial Portuguese Empire. This area has been almost totally neglected in Brazil, but the culture of Guinean people has been described in the annals of the Boletim Cultural da Guiné Portuguesa. This colonial periodical, published between 1946 and 1973 is now available online as the Projeto Memória de África e Oriente. Coordinated by the Fundação Portugal-Africa, the aim of this project is to collect, collate and digitalize documents at present scattered among the documentation centers of various Portuguese-speaking countries and make them available to researchers on the internet. The Boletim Cultural is a varied source made up of 110 editions published uninterruptedly three times a year. There are over 20,000 pages, whose main emphasis is on articles concerning ethnographics, which, although often seen from an undesirably European perspective, offer the opportunity to study these little-known cultures, which have been mostly handed down by oral tradition, and despite the cultural bias they display, these articles are nevertheless well worth reading. In fact, paradoxically, this alien perspective serves to highlight certain cultural features and the very characteristic language used in them expresses quite pointedly the colonial logic upon which political and scientific studies were based. In this way, this scientific knowledge, despite its subtexts, has enabled a dialog to take place with various actors who made their own history, despite this remaining restricted even until today, by others who sought to control it. Thus, despite being strongly influenced by scientific colonial attitudes, these studies published in the pages of Boletim Cultural, did allow the first approaches to be made to Guinea-Bissau and its constituent elements in the 20th century / Não obstante a promulgação da Lei 10.639, que desde 2003 tornou obrigatório o ensino de História, Cultura Africana e Afro-Brasileira, ainda há muito que avançar para minimizar deficiências curriculares nacionais e reorientar reflexões sobre as Áfricas e os africanos.

Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-29T14:27:19Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Maria da Gloria Melo de Souza.pdf: 1348138 bytes, checksum: 7b3fbf342baf7cdea458863b14c0fcc0 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2011-10-11 / The objective of this work is making a critical analysis of the Divine Office of Communities, which is a proposal for the Liturgy of the Hours inculturated. The Divine Office of Communities, for over two decades of existence, has been a reference to communal prayer, which unites the richness of the ancient tradition of prayer of the Hours of the Church and the faith experiences of ecclesial communities, in dialogue with popular piety. The background motivation of this work is the realization of the need for a deeper critical analysis of the Divine Office of Communities. Specifying: the first part, offers an overview of the Divine Office of Communities, remembers its history, presents briefly the Hours of Office, its structure and elements, gestures and symbolic actions, music, ministries in the celebration of the craft and elements of inculturation found therein. The second part, which is the body of work consists of two phases: the description of instrumental analysis and application of this instrumental. The third part is devoted to the practice of the Divine Office of the Communities, their celebratory practice: some reports are presented to communities, groups and many people who celebrate this Office in the community or pray in private. We conclude that, truly, the Divine Office of Communities is a valuable proposal for Liturgy of the Hours inculturated and deserve to be approved by CNBB and recognized by the Apostolic See, as an alternative book Liturgy of the Hours for the people / O objetivo do presente trabalho é fazer a análise crítica do Ofício Divino das Comunidades, que é uma proposta de Liturgia das Horas inculturada.
