Status oprávněnosti u přesvědčení vytvořených na základě smyslového vnímání / Justificatory Status of Perceptual Beliefs

Sedláková, Jana January 2016 (has links)
The main subject of this essay is the problem of the relationship between sensation and perceptual beliefs in terms of their justification. Wilfrid Sellars and his Empiricism & The Philosophie of Mind are central for this essay. Sellars criticizes the theory of fundamentalism and sense data theory by pointing to the Myth of the Given. The perceptual beliefs could not be basic and self-justifying. Such a hierarchical structure is implausible, because we need a lot of other concepts for understanding and forming the perceptual beliefs. The justification has to be placed in the space of reason, when we are able to be responsible for our beliefs, to give reason, to understand the objections and react to them. This debate is not examined only in terms of an isolated, static subject. On the contrary, this subject is embedded to a dynamic social structure. Sellars' position contains three main elements: normativity, intersubjektivity and holism. All these elements will be more closely examined and placed in a broader context. Finally, I will present a critical view on Sellars' position on the basis of three questions: 1, to what extent is plausible the prior character of "It is" talk to "It looks" talk 2, to what extent can we talk about the non - inferential beliefs 3, to what extent is Sellars'...

The impact of bullying on the adolescent’s sense of self

Anderson, Gail Alice 21 August 2008 (has links)
The goal of this study was to investigate the impact of physical, verbal and social bullying in high school on the adolescent’s sense of self, thereby improving the knowledge base and insight of counsellors who work with victims of bullying. The objectives of this study were:

To build a knowledge base on the problem of bullying using existing literature. The knowledge base was used to form a holistic picture of the problem.

To empirically investigate the impact that bullying in the school has on the adolescent’s sense of self.

To provide conclusions and recommendations for teachers of school A as well as counsellors who, in the counselling setting, work with bullied children.

This quantitative study endeavoured to answer the following research question: “What is the impact of bullying on the adolescent’s sense of self.” The researcher aimed to use the statistical analysis of the empirical study to improve the helping profession’s understanding of the phenomenon. This may lead to more successful intervention strategies on behalf of these adolescents. The study was feasible, as it was within the financial and practical means of the researcher. She had access to the school as she was employed there and obtained permission from the school, Department of Education, parents of participants, the participants themselves and The Ethical Committee of the University of Pretoria. The following themes emerged from the data analysis (when the male and female adolescents’ results were separated) namely:

Physical bullying does not affect any parts of the sense of self of the female adolescent but does affect the physical and creative self of the male.

Social bullying impacts every part of the female adolescent self but only affects the emotional, behavioural and creative sense of self of the male.

Verbal bullying has an impact on every part of the female adolescents sense of self and affects all parts of the male sense of self except the physical and intellectual sense of self.

From the research findings, recommendations were made on a micro, macro and exo- level. On a micro-level, this included improved intervention and prevention programmes in schools. On macro-level the researcher is of the opinion that the Department of Education of various districts need to ensure that policies are put in place as well as to support individual schools in their endeavours to stop bullying. On a meso-level, legislation changes and enforcement of the Bill of Human rights in schools are recommended. Existence jako lov. Na stopě hranic smyslu / Existence as a chase - A persecution of the borders of meaning

Niemann, Lutz Aloys January 2020 (has links)

Jakobsson, Clara, Masso, Vanessa January 2021 (has links)
The aim of the bachelor’s thesis is to examine how sensory marketing is applied in e-commerce. It is also of the bachelor’s interest to examine whether the consumer perceives the application of the term in e-commerce. The research question in the study is: In what way is mind marketing applied in e-commerce and what is the perception of the consumer? To create an understanding and answer the essay question, observations, interviews and aquestionnaire have been applied. The authors observed ten companies from differentindustries to examine the application of sensory marketing in e-commerce. The interviews were conducted on four respondents who knew the concept of sensory marketing since before. The respondents observed a few websites and answered questions from a prepared interview guide. Furthermore, a survey was conducted with a response from one hundred respondents. The results of the bachelor’s thesis show that the application of sensory marketing in e-commerce is relatively small, since almost only the sense of sight is applied. The sense of hearing is used to a very small extent and the results show that other aspects, such as offers and reputation, arouse interest and affect the consumer in e-commerce. In conclusion, the authors can conclude that the visual sense is the mind that is used to the greatest extent in e-commerce. In part, e-commerce also stimulates the sense of hearing, but to a small extent. The authors can thus state that sensory marketing that occurs in today's e-commerce primarily stimulates the visual sense and that there is great development potential for the application in e-commerce.

Perception et réalité : aspects métaphysiques, ontologiques et épistémologiques / Perception and reality : metaphysical, ontological and epistemological aspects

Chin-Drian, Yannick 29 November 2013 (has links)
The main topic of this study is to discuss the idea according to which perceptual experiences sould be conceive as ways of being in contact with the world and perceptual experiences can give reasons for believing some propositions about the world and can give rise to knowledge. Lots of philosophers countervail this intuitive and naive conception of perception. This rejection is linked to the fact that they adopt an internalist conception of perception and/or justication and/or perceptual knowledge. Perceiving sould be conceive as an purely internal event of subjects which possess perceptual capacities. And so, one may doubt that they can have justifications for their beliefs or that they can know anything. Is it possible to avoid this conclusion ? How to alleviate philosophical fear that this conclusion gives rise ? That is the aim of this study. The proposed philosophical inquiry comes in three forms. In the first place, indirect conception of perception is examined and criticized. Afterwards, an inquiry about the nature of perceptual experience is pursued. The stake for us is to defend a strong form of externalism about perception (metaphysical disjunctivism). Then, in the second part of this work, we get into an ontological reflexion about the nature of properties that perceptual experience seems to acquaintance us with. Color Realism is defended against various antirealist objections. Colors are or can be real properties of things. A realist, non redutive and non relationnal ontology for chromatic properties is sketched (color Primitivism). Lastly, the epistemological stakes of perception are underlined and examined. We defend the idea that perceptual experience is a mean by which certain beings can have justified beliefs although this justification is not reflexive and prima facie. It can be so if it's true that perceptual experience puts us in contact with the world (objects, properties, facts, etc.). We examine and reject different replies to skeptical attacks against the possibility of knowing anything. Then, another strategy is proposed (a morean defense of perceptual knowledge and the questioning of skeptical challenge itself). In fact, from an metaphysical, ontological or epistemological point of view, we don't have to give a negative reponse to the classical and philosophical question "Can mind be really in perceptual and cognitive contact with the world ?" or so we think. Indeed, our study underlines that a positive reply to this question is sustainable, not to say correct, and that the negative reponse is probably wrong

[en] This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the meaning of life and belonging to the military family with the levels of well-being of wives of soldiers in the Brazilian Army. Regression analyzes were carried out to investigate the relationship between the meaning of life and the sense of belonging to the group with the levels of well-being. In the results obtained through the regression, it was identified that the sense of belonging to the group and the presence of a meaning of life contribute to explain 9 percent of positive emotions and 15 percent of positive relationships. It was observed that the sense of belonging to the group, the presence of a sense of life and work were antecedents of the levels of engagement and achievement, explaining 17 percent of engagement and 16 percent of achievement. In addition, the dimensions sense of belonging to a group and presence of meaning of life did not act as antecedents of the levels of negative emotions.
