Guth, Valdeci José 06 August 2009 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-12-06T17:07:22Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Guth.pdf: 1188126 bytes, checksum: f42dab6008952c021acbcddc94f0b5d6 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2009-08-06 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The aim of this descriptive exploralory study was lo evaluate kinematic characteristics of children s squat considering sex, group of age and strategy to execute the movement (spontaneous and standardized). Specifically: to characterize and compare active and passive flexibility of children; to characterize and compare joint amplitudes of hip, knee and ankles: to analise and compare joint velocities between ascendent and descendent phases; to characterize and compare time for execution of the movement. Participants were 103 children (43 boys and 60 girls) categorized in two groups: 1 (7 to 9 years old) and 2 (10 to 12 years old) with their parents authorization. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee in Research of UDESC, under number 67/2007. As instruments it was used a photographic machine and a digital camera. The study variables selected were: active and passive joint amplitudes (hip flexion. knee flexion and ankle extension), kinemalics (angles, velocity and time for execution) of the trunk, hip, knee and ankle in the spontaneous and standardized forms, descendent and ascendent phases. After formal consent children were directed to the Biomechanics Laboratory of UDESC. Children had a period to familiarize with ambient and instruments. After answering the identification forms and demarcation of joint axes according to Kalfues critery the data capture of flexibility and kinematic variables was proceeded in a frequency rate of 60 Hz. Children realized five valid squat movement. Kinematic data were filtered by a fourth-order low-pass Butterworth filter with a cut-off frequency and 6 Hz. To test normality Kolmogorov Smirnov test was used, descriptive (frequency distribution, mean, standard deviation and coefficient of variation) and inferential (parametric tests for intra and inter group comparison, test t of student) statistics, p<0.05 was adopted. The anthropometric values were similar to those from literature. Independently of sex and group of age flexibility patterns were similar. Angle behavior of spontaneous squat presented more angles to anterior trunk flexion (p=0,014) and knee (p<0,001) girls presented less anterior trunk flexion (p=0,017) in the standardized squat; younger children presented bigger dorsiflexion of the ankle in the standardized squat (p<0,001). Regarding angle velocity in the different body segments, independently of sex and group of age, in the spontaneous form and descendent phase these velocities were higher, these results were also observed for the time to perform a squat. In conclusion, angle behavior of the trunk, hip, knee and ankle during squatting is better executed in the spontaneous movement, independently of sex and group of age. The joint amplitude and the anthropometry interfered only on trunk angulation during squatting which caused a change in the postural strategy. A amplitude articular e a antropometria interferiram somente na angulação do tronco durante o agachamento alterando a estratégia postural.

This work seeks to discuss one of those movements which became known as the squatting fight of Trombas and Formoso. In this work it went through the various stages of that fight and it is analysed how in the process of the land dispute the squatting consolidated a group and created a common notion about the right to the land. In Trombas, the fight for the land made a group and conceived a solidarity which was mediated by the experience of the exploration lived by the peasants in the former period to their displacement for that small village of the north of Goiás. In that fight was also present the Brazilian Communist Party that by the very particular condition of its militants who were in Trombas was responsible for the consolidation of an alliance with the peasant ,structured in the claim for the land and in the consolidation of an autonomy of the movement. This work seeks to contribute with the debate on the border expansion and the capacity that the process had in Brazil to create spaces of dispute for the land by which groups and different interests were contended.

Autonomní sociální centrum Klinika a levicový aktivismus: Kritická analýza mediálního diskurzu / Autonomous Social Centre Klinika and Left-wing Activism: Critical Analysis of Media Discourse

Lazecký, Tomáš January 2018 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with the Autonomous social centre Klinika in the Prague district of Žižkov and the left-wing, mostly anarchist, groups that affiliate with the centre. The thesis studies the current shape and form of media discourse related to the far-left political scene in the Czech Republic. Using the critical discource approach, the thesis analyzes a number of texts from the multimedia company MAFRA (Lidovky.cz, iDnes.cz) and that of alternative left-wing media (A2larm.cz, Denikreferendum.cz). The thesis investigates whether the fact that the publishing house is owned by the anti-politician Andrej Babiš projected in any way in case of the right-wing (centre- right) media. The main finding is, that the scrutinized right-wing media consistently avoid the question of legitimacy of squatting but their approach to squatting and leftist activist scene is not hostile. On the other hand, the scrutinized leftist media emphasize the legitimacy of squatting. The influence of Andrej Babiš was not confirmed.

Sacred Resistance : Exploring the Roles of Religious Organizations in the Refugee Movement “Lampedusa in Hamburg” 2013-2014

Ericson von Bahr, Vera January 2020 (has links)
This study explores the roles of religious organizations in the refugee movement “Lampedusa in Hamburg”, in Hamburg, Germany during 2013 and 2014. “Lampedusa in Hamburg” consisted of approximately 300 refugees who had come from Libya, and decided to fight for their right to stay in Germany. Early on, religious organizations became important supporters to the movement, by providing the members food and shelter. By analyzing archival material and interviews with two religious representatives, this thesis investigates the involvement of religious organizations, their collaborations, and the outcomes produced by their work during the protests, using theories connected to secularization and religion and migration. The analysis shows that the involvement of religious organizations in the “Lampedusa in Hamburg”- movement is an example of how faith-based actors in the West are standing up against authorities and objecting migration policies. Their work, collaborations and impact were clearly shaped by national ties with the German state and their position in society. Further, local dynamics formed the roles of the religious organizations, especially in the case of the St. Pauli church – one of the most central religious actors – located in St. Pauli, a block with a long history of protests. During the Lampedusa in Hamburg-movement, processes operating at global, national, and local scales met, exposing the complexities of the roles that religious organizations take on, as they become involved in migrant processes in Western Europe today.

Domov bezdomovců: sociální konstrukce nekonvenčního domova / .Home of Homeless: Social Construction of Non-conventional Home

Kotyk, Lukáš January 2016 (has links)
This diploma thesis focuses on the phenomena of homelessness as a situation in which individuals do not have enough money to secure the conventional accommodation. This leads to them constructing their home in the public space or squatting abandoned buildings. This thesis refuses to interpret homelessness as a pathological phenomenon or as a violation of order (in order to demonstrate this, individual approaches are usually being used). The author of the thesis presents homelessness as a consequence of the economic system which orders out a certain part of population. This part cannot attain the minimum measure of the chance to consume which would sustain a secure life. The concept of hybrid, which is the integral part of the actor-network-theory and it originates in the works of Bruno Latour, allows us to interpret home through the interconnection of material objects and social relationship. This approach leads to disengagement from the atypical form of unconventional homes and to thinking about them as about a normal way of housing. The basis of the ethnographic research is the perspective of the material culture studies. In the framework of this perspective, individual dwellings (inhabited by the class of the poorest) are examined. The research contains an analysis of nine such dwellings in...

[pt] O FAZER-COMUM DAS OCUPAÇÕES NA LUTA PELA PRODUÇÃO DO ESPAÇO / [en] THE COMMONING OF THE SQUATS IN THE STRUGGLE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF SPACE

JULIA VILELA CAMINHA 15 December 2023 (has links)
[en] This thesis, entitled O fazer-comum das ocupações na luta pela produção do espaço, has as main objective to analyze how squats can be configured as urban commons and how they have potentialities for anti-capitalist struggles for the production of space. First, a discussion about the circulation of capital and its interference in the production of space, today, metropolized, was presented. Then we discuss the concepts of social movement and squatting, attempting to demonstrate the potentialities of urban squats. Finally, based on the conceptualization of common, we intend to demonstrate that urban squatting is an important form of struggle for the city, and could establish the common and the production of an anti-capitalist urban space. In this sense, we tried to demonstrate that the capitalist spiral in its continuous search for accumulation also creates gaps for the end of capitalist circulation itself, and the metropolized space appears as an opportunity to that end, based on its heterotopic spaces, such as squats. Thus, squatting, by practicing the commoning, can break several of the capitalist bonds and can modify our society from the inside by creating other spaces in which the common is the political principle and, defining threshold spaces and community fabrics.

Characterizing and Detecting Online Deception via Data-Driven Methods

Hu, Hang 27 May 2020 (has links)
In recent years, online deception has become a major threat to information security. Online deception that caused significant consequences is usually spear phishing. Spear-phishing emails come in a very small volume, target a small number of audiences, sometimes impersonate a trusted entity and use very specific content to redirect targets to a phishing website, where the attacker tricks targets sharing their credentials. In this thesis, we aim at measuring the entire process. Starting from phishing emails, we examine anti-spoofing protocols, analyze email services' policies and warnings towards spoofing emails, and measure the email tracking ecosystem. With phishing websites, we implement a powerful tool to detect domain name impersonation and detect phishing pages using dynamic and static analysis. We also analyze credential sharing on phishing websites, and measure what happens after victims share their credentials. Finally, we discuss potential phishing and privacy concerns on new platforms such as Alexa and Google Assistant. In the first part of this thesis (Chapter 3), we focus on measuring how email providers detect and handle forged emails. We also try to understand how forged emails can reach user inboxes by deliberately composing emails. Finally, we check how email providers warn users about forged emails. In the second part (Chapter 4), we measure the adoption of anti-spoofing protocols and seek to understand the reasons behind the low adoption rates. In the third part of this thesis (Chapter 5), we observe that a lot of phishing emails use email tracking techniques to track targets. We collect a large dataset of email messages using disposable email services and measure the landscape of email tracking. In the fourth part of this thesis (Chapter 6), we move on to phishing websites. We implement a powerful tool to detect squatting domains and train a machine learning model to classify phishing websites. In the fifth part (Chapter 7), we focus on the credential leaks. More specifically, we measure what happens after the targets' credentials are leaked. We monitor and measure the potential post-phishing exploiting activities. Finally, with new voice platforms such as Alexa becoming more and more popular, we wonder if new phishing and privacy concerns emerge with new platforms. In this part (Chapter 8), we systematically assess the attack surfaces by measuring sensitive applications on voice assistant systems. My thesis measures important parts of the complete process of online deception. With deeper understandings of phishing attacks, more complete and effective defense mechanisms can be developed to mitigate attacks in various dimensions. / Doctor of Philosophy / In recent years, online deception becomes a major threat to information security. The most common form of online deception starts with a phishing email, then redirects targets to a phishing website where the attacker tricks targets sharing their credentials. General phishing emails are relatively easy to recognize from both the target's and the defender's perspective. They are usually from strange addresses, the content is usually very general and they come in a large volume. However, Online deception that caused significant consequences is usually spear phishing. Spear-phishing emails come in a very small volume, target a small number of audiences, sometimes impersonate a trusted entity and use very specific content to redirect targets to a phishing website, where the attacker tricks targets sharing their credentials. Sometimes, attackers use domain impersonation techniques to make the phishing website even more convincing. In this thesis, we measure the entire process. Starting from phishing emails, we examine anti-spoofing protocols, analyze email services' policies and warnings towards spoofing emails, and measure the email tracking ecosystem. With phishing websites, we implement a tool to detect domain name impersonation and detect phishing pages using dynamic and static analysis. We also studied credential sharing on phishing websites. We measure what happens after targets share their credentials. Finally, we analyze potential phishing and privacy concerns on new platforms such as Alexa and Google Assistant.

Od autonomie k post-autonomii? Případ Autonomního sociálního centra Klinika / From Autonomy to Post-autonomy? Case of Autonomous Social Center Klinika

Böhmová, Ludmila January 2018 (has links)
The focus of my thesis is on the process of transformation of the leftist movement from autonomous to post-autonomous. Specifically, I am interested in the transformation of the Czech squatting movement and the case of the Autonomous Social Centre Klinika. I ask whether it is possible to consider the case of Klinika an example of post-autonomy in Czech context, and which dimensions of the transformation can we identify there. In the theoretical part I define the concept of autonomy and how the autonomous movements understand it. By defining the characteristics of the autonomous movements alongside with theoretical literature, I then identify five dimensions of the transformation from autonomy to post-autonomy. Because the transformation is influenced by both internal and external facts, it is important to me, to firstly understand the neoliberal mode of thinking, its difficulties and other facts, which can determine the transformation. Crucial for research are the data I collect from the semi-structured interviews with respondents, who have been selected based on their experiences with squatting in Czech context.

Cartografias políticas de uma ocupação - cotidiano, território e conflito / Political cartographies of a squat building: quotidian, territory and conflict

Santos, Renato Abramowicz 07 March 2018 (has links)
This work aims at analyzing the process of building occupation in São Paulo, which was substantially expanded during the second half of 1990s. By analyzing « Ocupação Mauá», took as the field of this empirical research, this work aims at understanding the different urban e political dimensions of the squat buildings in São Paulo, which are related to the historical issue of popular housing policy in the city. The squat buildings by housing social movements follow this long lineage; however, there are new forms and dynamics of production of the urban space that need to be set out. On the one hand, this work takes the city as reference plane and as part of a bigger urban mesh, in relation to other events, movements and actors that dispute over other forms of ownership and management of the city, seen here as a conflict space. On the other hand, this research aims at understanding the dimension of the conflict in the production of urban spaces. The conflicted relations with the State and its operators mark the daily life of a squat building, its interactions and local agencies. By this occurs the creation of a gravitational field in which are added a big amount of different movements (political, juridical, cultural). Thus, the occupations not only are transformed into places of experimentation and creation, but also into places of dispute for the production of space. Center and connector of different subjects, movements and experience, an squat building is crossed by these lines and paths, transversally, in its territoriality. These fragments and clues will be gathered by an ethnographic research and the reconstitution of the occupants\' trajectory.
