Todavia, a variação na terminologia utilizada na área da saúde requer a harmonização dos termos técnico-científicos, visto que estes apresentam imprecisão e ambiguidade e podem dificultar a recuperação da informação pelos profissionais. Considerando-se ser necessário o emprego de uma terminologia mais harmoniosa para uma melhor comunicação entre os profissionais de saúde surgiu a proposta de se destacar a importância da Teoria Comunicativa da Terminologia através de uma análise da representação da informação em prontuários de pacientes de hospitais universitários, especificamente na especialidade Neurologia. It is also noteworthy that, among the many possibilities of interdisciplinary studies in the field of Information Science, information in health care is of great importance. In this work, information in health care refers to the study of health care terminology, pointing out that the technical and scientific terms in this field are mainly used for reporting information and transferring of knowledge among professionals. Die Suche nach der Äquivalenz: Auf einem Streifzug durch drei Disziplinen

The concept of equivalence has for many years attracted attention of researchers in variousdisciplines: from mathematics to philosophy to translation theory to terminology. This thesisintends to survey the concept of equivalence in three subject fields all of which focus onlanguages and communication, namely: translation theory, lexicography and terminology. Thepurpose of the paper is twofold: to investigate the theoretical grounds of equivalence in thesethree disciplines and to survey the methods and practices of establishing equivalence inmultilingual terminology work. The results of the theoretical investigation are summed up onthe basis of the terminological concept analysis. Four concepts systems are structured andpresented in the form of concept diagrams (two for translation theory, one for lexicography andone for terminology). The concept systems give an overview of the current understanding ofequivalence in the three subject fields and expose the relations between equivalence and anumber of related concepts. The central theoretical question of the thesis whether equivalencecould be considered the same concept in all three disciplines is answered on the basis of theresults of the terminological concept analysis. The empirical investigation is carried out in theform of case studies in the frame of multilingual terminology work. It focuses on the problemsof establishing equivalence, of determining the degree of equivalence as well as on the methodsand practices of presenting equivalents in various terminological resources.

This study aims at selecting some unique words the Prophet used, and search for their presence or absence in the Arabic Although several sources were used, the reliance for the choice of words is mainly on An-Nihayah fi gharib al-Athar of Ibn al-Athir; and for comparison, several published works. literature. The objective is to find out how the Prophetic words affected the literature. A gap was perceived in the catering industry where chefs and waitrons are required to use French cooking terminology in their profession without ready access to the correct usage of this terminology. The purpose of this study is to address this gap and to offer a solution to the observed need. The study concentrates on the reading and writing of menus in French. The reason for this focus is that this is the area where French cooking terminology is arguably needed, as it is here where the incorrect usage of the French language is most evident.

A success case method evaluation of the effectiveness of the implementation of the HIV and AIDS management at schools in the Tshwane South district / Ndavheleseni Albert Mbada

The intention of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of the HIV and AIDS management at schools in the Tshwane South District. The rationale was based on the gap in research regarding evaluation of the implementation of intervention programmes at schools, especially the management and leadership intervention strategies. The Foundation for Professional Development (FPD), a South African Medical Association self-funding education provider in the health sector, had conducted a training intervention with the members of the School Management Teams (SMT) of the Tshwane South District schools. The application of the skills, knowledge and attitudes gained through this training was the main focus for evaluation. For that reason, the Success Case Method (SCM), an innovative programme evaluation design, was used. The first phase of the SCM involved using a short questionnaire to identify appropriate participants for the second phase, which involved in-depth telephone interviews as directed by the SCM. The second phase also involved probing, understanding and documenting the successes, thus allowing an evaluation of the findings. The findings of the study indicate that some SMTs are actually implementing the skills, knowledge and attitudes gained in the FPD training with success, albeit with differing levels of effectiveness. It was also found that there are unsuccessful SMTs that are not implementing or are unable to implement their learning from the FPD training. There were various reasons for both the successes and non-successes. These included matters pertaining to conflicting directions, policy guidelines, commitment, empathy and attitude of the SMTs in understanding circumstances related to people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS, teamwork, reporting systems, the duration of the training workshop and pace of learning of SMTs members, marketing collaterals, workforce availability and availability or lack of time for implementing the HIV and AIDS programme. The recommendations include the provision of follow-up and material support to schools, including the formation of HIV and AIDS management forums and networks. Recommendations are also made to the FPD for enhancing and sustaining the training and implementation. Further recommendations are proffered to the Department of Education regarding activities for directed and needs-based support for schools. The study contributes to the practice of HIV and AIDS management in that it produced an evaluation report on the implementation of HIV and AIDS management at schools. This should be useful to practitioners at school, community and departmental levels regarding the status of HIV and AIDS management at schools. The study also contributes to the theory of intervention programmes using the Success Case Method in education, which is a novel, user-friendly and easy-to-use method of evaluation. / PhD (Education Management), North-West University, Vaal Triangle Campus, 2013

Im Zusammenhang mit Architekturrezeption wird in der deutschsprachigen Literatur oft das Wort ‚Zitat‘ verwendet. So zahlreich dieser Terminus benutzt wird, so zahlreich sind die Bedeutungen, die dem Wort ‚Zitat‘ in den Texten jeweils hinterlegt werden. Diese unpräzise Verwendung, gerade in fachlichen Publikationen, ist unbefriedigend und fragwürdig. Diese Arbeit untersucht, welche Bedeutung dem Wort ‚Zitat‘ eigentlich zukommt. Dazu ist es notwendig, das Phänomen des Wiedererkennens einer Architektur in einer anderen in den Blick zu nehmen. Auf dieser Grundlage können die üblicherweise verwendeten Termini danach befragt werden, welche von ihnen das Phänomen am präzisesten zur Sprache bringen. Diese Untersuchung am Wort wird anschließend an konkreter Architektur, dem Pantheon in Rom und seinen Rezeptionen, überprüft. Das Phänomen, dass in einer Rezeption das Pantheon wiederzuerkennen ist, gründet auf definierbaren Merkmalen, die das Vorbild mit seinen Rezeptionen verbinden. Der systematische Vergleich dieser Merkmale zeigt ein hohes Maß an freier Auswahl und freier Gestaltung. Zugleich zeigen sich zeitliche und regionale Schwerpunkte. Dieser Befund bestätigt die Termini, die bereits bei der Untersuchung am Wort das Phänomen des Wiedererkennens am präzisesten zur Sprache bringen konnten.

Finding common ground: the road to electronic interprofessional documentation

This thesis portrays a research study undertaken to explore the unknown concept of electronic interprofessional documentation. Academic literature largely centers on multidisciplinary electronic documentation yet clinicians provide care using an integrated interprofessional model. Current design of electronic health records (EHRs) continue to propagate a deluge of data resulting from disparate siloed documentation. End users report challenges with finding data. Additionally, care planning and decision making are delayed. To bridge the gap between electronic design and interprofessional delivery of care, more understanding of shared documentation is required. The provenance of the design of this study is based on the concept of common ground and the framework for complex diverse data. Common ground is a shared communication space within a team with a shared purpose (Cioffi, Wilkes, Cummings, Warne, & Harrison, 2010). The framework for complex diverse data posits that data must be linked to other interconnected data; linked data enables connection of diverse pieces and insight-sharing within a team. A descriptive qualitative study was designed to answer the research question: What are the common data elements between disciplines? A case scenario of a patient with a fractured hip was created; participants generated clinical notes based on the video and patient record. The clinical notes were coded and results indicated numerous diverse common data elements. These were analyzed and major findings such as categories appropriate for use by all disciplines on admission and design implications for care planning throughout an acute care stay were identified. Further, as disciplines and care team members do have different documentation patterns, it is suggested attendance to differences in the entry of data yet maintaining a common ground in the display of patient information is vital. Finally suggestions such as duplicate checking for documentation through a common care plan that tracks assessments and completed interventions alongside planned interventions are made. Creation of a standardized interprofessional terminology is key in building the road leading to interprofessional electronic documentation. / Graduate

Traduire la prose de l'OTAN : Une étude sur les stratégies de traduction de termes spécialisés relatifs aux relations internationales / Translating NATO's prose : A study on applied strategies when translating specialised terms in the context of international relations

International relations as well as multilingual organisations and institutions rely upon translation. In this particular field, translators are mostly concerned with different types of specialised documents, such as legal acts, technical reports and press statements. Due to the high precision and clarity requirements that are associated with these texts, terminology appears to be one of the most difficult aspects when it comes to translating specialised documents. This difficulty is the main focus of this study. More specifically, the aim is to describe and analyse how equivalents of specialised terms in the source language can be found in the target language and to study translation strategies that can be applied when translating international relations terminology. In order to obtain the primary data used in the study, NATO’s new strategic concept from 2010 was translated from French to Swedish. The concept is supposed to guide the organisation during a ten-year period. Throughout the translation process both lexical and textual sources were used. The analysis was made in the light of different translation theories and models, which include Vinay and Darbelnet’s (1977) “direct” and “indirect” translation techniques, as well as Cabré’s (1992) theories and methods on terminology. The results show the complexity of the subject, and most importantly, that parallel texts, that is to say specialised documentation, can play an important role when it comes to translating specialised terms, since many of them are not to be found in ordinary dictionaries.
