[en] METHODOLOGICAL PROPOSAL FOR EVALUATING GREEN AREAS IN THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT: EXAMPLE OF THE CITY OF NITERÓI/RJ / [pt] PROPOSTA METODOLÓGICA PARA AVALIAÇÃO DE ÁREAS VERDES NO MEIO URBANO: EXEMPLO DA CIDADE DE NITERÓI / RJBIANCA LUCAS PESCE 26 September 2022 (has links)
verde urbano.
[en] Presenting a great relevance to the urban environment, green areas
comprise a point of balance between built and non-built environments.
Society, which lives in areas considered urban, needs not only the basic
infrastructure for its survival (such as sanitary, road, health and education
infrastructures), i/t also lacks the connection with nature, free construction
spaces and an ecologically balanced environment. The benefits of green
areas in urban areas go beyond the ecological aspect; such as air filtration,
dust and microorganisms retention, reducing noise, balance temperature,
absorb part of the sun s rays, retain moisture in the soil, which avoids
erosion, floods, providing regulation of the water cycle, shelter for fauna
and exchange of gene flow between natural areas; they also act on the
psychological well-being of the human being with biophilia, the need for
man to pursue non-building areas. Non-building and green areas have the
ability to explain the relationship between man and nature, that is, for the
purposes of this study, the relationship among society, natural physical
means, vegetation, rivers, seas and other elements.
In order to support this scientific research, explanations about how
the distribution of green areas happen in some cities, such as Rio de
Janeiro (having the basis of research carried out by Data Rio - an entity
owned by the City of Rio de Janeiro, in 2017) were analyzed ) and by
developing and applying this methodology in a specific study having the city
of Niterói in the metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro, as a basis for the
analysis of its quantitative and the assessment of green areas in the urban
environment.
Having the municipality of Rio de Janeiro as a first example, by
assessing urban green areas in Brazilian municipalities - there was a huge
difference in the volume and distribution of green areas by neighborhoods.

[en] COMPLEX PROJECT MANAGEMENT METHODOLOGIES: APPLICABILITY AT PETROBRAS / [pt] METODOLOGIAS DE GESTÃO DE PROJETOS COMPLEXOS: ESTUDO SOBRE SUA APLICABILIDADE NA PETROBRASLUIS CLAUDIO NUNES PEREIRA 19 August 2013 (has links)
[en] The objective of this dissertation is to study the applicability of complex
project management methodologies at Petrobras, in an increasingly challenging
scenario for organizations. Concepts related to project management, complexity
and complex projects are presented, and its compatibility with the major
challenges encountered in Petrobras strategic planning is substantiated. The work
examines three methods for managing complex projects, as an alternative to the
traditional forms of project management. The importance of a holistic perspective
to the success of projects of great complexity is highlight, as a way to keep the
synergy between these projects and the strategic planning process of the company.
The need for an integrative organizational area, which would enable the
operationalization of corporate strategy in the implementation of complex
projects, is identified. At the end, the elements of the methodologies formulated
to deal with complexity that contributes to the achievement of the desired
integrated vision, are shown.

[en] FUNDAMENTAL ASPECTS OF BORON REMOVAL FROM WASTEWATERS BY ELECTROCOAGULATION METHOD / [pt] ASPECTOS FUNDAMENTAIS DA REMOÇÃO DE BORO CONTIDO EM EFLUENTES AQUOSOS POR ELETROCOAGULAÇÃOTHIAGO DA SILVA RIBEIRO 01 February 2019 (has links)
[en] Boron compounds are used in the metallurgical industry, microelectronics, glassware, agriculture, etc. This element is an essential micronutrient in the development of microorganisms, plants, animals and humans. However, it can be toxic in high concentrations and therefore needs to be removed from water and effluent. In Brazil, the standard limit is 0.5mg/L for Class I and II freshwaters, established by Conama Resolution 357/2005. In turn, the Conama 430/2011 resolution establishes an effluent discharge standard of 5mg/L. The present dissertation aims to study the removal of boron by electrocoagulation for the treatment of water and effluents containing boron, using a cell with an arrangement of 4 monopolar aluminum electrodes (2 cathodes and 2 anodes) in parallel. The results show that the electrocoagulation process is a viable alternative for the removal of boron and reaches efficiencies around 70 per cent (at initial pH equals to 4, current density equals to 18.75mA/cm2 and electrolysis time equals to 90min). The kinetic model that best describes the removal of boron was pseudo-first order. The Langmuir model fitted very well to the experimental data obtained. The value of qm obtained by the Langmuir model reflected the high maximum adsorption capacity (qm equals to 334mg/g). Through the analysis by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) on the surface of the electrodes, it was observed the presence of pitting corrosion in the cathodes and uniform corrosion in the anodes. The morphology of the sludge produced in the electrocoagulation process was analyzed by SEM, indicating the presence of a heterogeneous surface morphology, while the X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed broad peaks characteristic of an amorphous material and the predominant aluminum phase was boehmite, AlO(OH), finally, through the Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS) analysis, it was possible to detect boron in the sludge, as well as aluminum and oxygen. In view of the results obtained in the optimization study from the Response Surface Methodology (RSM), it was verified that the development of a mathematical model by regression analysis made possible the evaluation of the effect of the independent variables (current density, initial pH and time of electrolysis) and their interactions in the removal of boron.

[en] PSYCHOLOGY PROFESSIONALS AND STUDENT S CONCEPTIONS ABOUT SCIENCE AND SCIENTIFIC METHOD / [pt] CONCEPÇÕES DE CIÊNCIA E MÉTODO CIENTÍFICO ENTRE PROFISSIONAIS E ESTUDANTES DE PSICOLOGIABHEATRIX BIENEMANN FAVERO 11 June 2018 (has links)
[en] Despite the numerous benefits of scientific practice to the world in recent years, the professionals and students of the Psychology are still resistant to the use of the scientific method in this area. The origins of such objections and the variables that influence them are uncertain, requiring studies to investigate them. The main idea presented in this study is that the conceptions of science and scientific method among Brazilian professionals and students of Psychology are insufficient. In order to test the hypotheses derived from this idea, the aim of this study was to evaluate the psychology professionals and student s conceptions about science and scientific method through two open questions and a sociodemographic questionnaire. The sample of respondents was composed of 791 people, students (n = 407) and professionals (n = 384) from Brazil, aged between 17 and 67 years (M = 29.07, SD = 9.02), 68,5 percent women. The analysis of the texts occurred through the Descending Hierarchical Classification and Correspondence Factor Analysis with the aid of the IRaMuTeQ, an interface of textual analysis. The analysis revealed that the participants have very different conceptions about science and scientific method, dominating the notion that science is a method of acquiring knowledge, but without more details about how this method works. It is important to emphasize the importance of learning about scientific methodology in Psychology courses.

[en] PEDAGOGICAL STRATEGIES IN TEACHING DESIGN: FOR AN ACTIVE METHODOLOGY / [pt] ESTRATÉGIAS PEDAGÓGICAS NO ENSINO DE DESIGN: POR UMA METODOLOGIA ATIVAANDRE LUIS FERREIRA BELTRAO 19 May 2017 (has links)
[en] This dissertation aims to analyze pedagogical practices in Graphic Design teaching based on active methodologies. The research mapped out such methodologies, which were originally designed for application in areas of knowledge related to exact subjects. Starting from the articulation of AM and pedagogical practices
for the teaching of Design, exercises and dynamics related to the methodologies in question were structured, proposed and experienced in the classroom. An action-study field study was carried out in a projectual Design discipline over three semesters, and in the last semester a class diary was written, besides interviews with
Design teachers on purpose to know their pedagogical practices. Student interviews were recorded and analyzed in light of Fink s (2007) taxonomy of significant learning. The results were recorded, classified and documented, and an instrument of analysis of the reported pedagogical practices was created, whose consolidated interpretation, in the final chapter, resulted in the proposals and reflections about the pedagogical strategies that were sought to achieve.

[pt] O tema desta pesquisa envolve o reconhecimento de Marcos
Referenciais
do estudo realizado
Providence - EUA.
Grande. No programa Providence`s Renaissance, nos EUA, o
WaterFire.
O principal objetivo foi examinar a expressão simbólica
dos três marcos,
mostrar a contextualização histórico-social dos programas
de revitalização e as
atuações das respectivas administrações públicas. Aplica a
técnica da visão
serial na contextualização morfológica dos elementos
construídos. Apresenta
[en] The research theme involves the recognition of Built Urban
Landscape
Marks as active agents in the identity characterization of
neighborhoods and
cities, and as key elements in the construction of
inhabitants`s urban imaginary. If
well accepted by the local population, the marks become a
symbolic reference to
the site. Otherwise, they only amount to urban furniture
without function. This
thesis presents the results of the research developed
about marks built during
urban revitalization programs constructed in Brazil and
Providence, USA. From
Rio Cidade 1, R.J., the following marks were studied:
Ipanema`s Obelisk and
foot-bridge - the research`s problem source, once the
citizens didn`t recognize or
legitimate it , and Campo Grande`s Orange. Lastly, during
Providence`s
Renaissance (U.S.A.), the third chosen mark was built:
WaterFire.
The main goal of the research is to analyze the symbolic
expression of the
three marks. This thesis also aims to address the
historical and social contexts in
which the revitalization programs took place and the roles
played by each public
administration during the process. It applies the visual
series methodology in the
reading of the morphological contexts of the built
elements and their positions
within it. It presents an analysis about the design
processes and the
methodological procedures adopted. Moreover, this analysis
uses Barthes`s
structuralist communication model and Bakhtin`s dialogic
communication as
theory basis to address the user`s role in the processes
and procedures that have
been adopted. Finally, the thesis proposes some key points
to the methodological
analysis of Built Urban Landscape Marks that could be
developed by the theory
basis and the hypothesis adopted.

[en] LISTENING TO MEMORIES IN THE SLUM MAZE: METHODOLOGICAL REFLECTIONS ON AN INTERVENTION RESEARCH / [pt] A ESCUTA DE MEMÓRIAS NOS LABIRINTOS DA FAVELA: REFLEXÕES METODOLÓGICAS SOBRE UMA PESQUISA-INTERVENÇÃOCÍNTIA DE SOUSA CARVALHO 02 June 2016 (has links)
[en] The aim of the present intervention research was analyzing methodological issues that cross the joint production of a work developed by the Museu de Favela (MUF – Slum Museum) in partnership with NIMESC/PUC-Rio, around the memories of women dwellers of the slums Pavão-Pavãozinho and Cantagalo, in
Rio de Janeiro. Having as starting point the dialogs with authors who have adopted a social-historical and critical perspective of culture, a collaborative work was sought by means of a research done with the other. Thus, the Prêmio Mulheres Guerreiras (Warrior Women Award) was closely followed; it is an activity that MUF conducts every year and whose objective is to honor women who bear a social value for the favela . Memory interviews conducted by the museum with the 2012 candidates to the award were observed and from such
observations a Training Course for Memory Listeners (Formação das Escutadoras de Memória) was implemented with MUF in 2013. Women dwellers of the abovementioned slums were invited to take part in this course with the purpose of sensitizing them with regards to the importance of the collective memory in the strengthening of the social identity of a community, and thus fomenting the desire to listen and (re)cognize the life histories. Several methodological aspects that cross a memory interview were discussed, as well as a way to provide materiality to the stories. The collective memories which stood out from the interviews carried out by the course participants were those related to the experiences that happened during the building of the community amidst the precarious infrastructure of the slum. Traumatic memories connected to violence also stood out, as well as those related to the experience of being a mother in the slum. The research has shown that this work of listening to memories might benefit from less oriented strategies, i.e. those that prioritize an interaction that is closer to a conversation and whose connection is based on empathy, instead of a preestablished interview script.

[en] LABOR AND ACTION NETWORKS: COLLABORATION, PRODUCTION AND POLITICS IN CONTEMPORARY TIMES / [pt] REDES DE TRABALHO E AÇÃO: COLABORAÇÃO, PRODUÇÃO E POLÍTICA NO CONTEMPORÂNEOCAROLINA SALOMAO CORREA 23 September 2016 (has links)
[en] This thesis aims to identify and understand the relations between the changes in labor and the recent global cycle of struggles. The shared understanding in the investigation is that from the 1980s, labor goes through a transformation without losing its centrality. However, it s worth mentioning, its centrality will be renewed by the transformation. Unlike the Fordist dynamics, which tended to exclude the worker s subjectivity in the production processes, the post-Fordist work requires the worker s subjective participation not only in the production. In other words, the worker participates through their capacity to create, imagine, intervene, but also in the circulation dynamics. Therefore, contemporary production happens, extrapolating the otherwise confined factory spaces, disseminating through the entire social fabric in a cooperation between networks and streets. In that context, the city turns into a space of production and valorization of labor. In face of life and work conditions in the city, increasingly precarious, the city is also territory for struggles to improve life conditions and the city s democratic administration. Hinged to global movements, the Brazilian uprising of June, 2013 established itself as a deviation from the thesis that impels us to investigate the association that the protests claiming for rights allow us to establish with the issues regarding metropolitan labor. Methodologically speaking, receiving the deviation refers to the construction of a thought that feeds from the encounter with the world and, in that sense, it questions artificial continuities. That methodological choice makes this research an inventive practice that requires an effort to conceive other forms to think the ways and means to research. More than a simple instrument, the method is a research matter. Therefore, while in theory the investigation revolves around labor and right issues, extending to the issues of city life, methodologically speaking, the thesis deals with the very way of presenting the knowledge produced, searching for a method that does justice to it.

[en] A CASE STUDY OF OPEN DATA JOURNALISM: METHOD, EVIDENCE, AND TRANSPARENCY IN THE PRODUCTIVE ROUTINES IN BRAZIL AND ENGLAND / [pt] UM ESTUDO DE CASO SOBRE JORNALISMO DE DADOS ABERTOS: MÉTODO, EVIDÊNCIA E TRANSPARÊNCIA NAS ROTINAS PRODUTIVAS NO BRASIL E NA INGLATERRACLAUDIA MIRANDA RODRIGUES 26 January 2022 (has links)
público, as agências The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, Gênero e Número e Agência Pública adotam esta prática.
A última traz,
[en] The internet-driven transformation in journalistic modes of production has
favored new arrangements that impact the centrality of larger organizations. The
authority of professionalism has been undermined in an environment of growing
and proactive disinformation, driven by algorithms that disrupt the trustworthiness
of established media. Meanwhile, inspired by the philosophy of the open-source
movement and by the possibilities offered by big data, non-profit journalism
agencies have also expanded their territory to digital platforms adopting open data
journalism – which we propose as a nomenclature – as a means of reinforcing
credibility through transparency. Guided by the paradigm of public interest, the
agencies The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, Gênero e Número and Agência
Pública are examples of organizations that have taken this road. Based on
experimental methodology, anchored in indicators developed for the purposes of
the research, we drew inferences on the extent to which these agencies offer
transparency, leading to further findings about newsgathering methods based on the
criteria regarding rigor and evidence. Supported by the newsmaking theory, the
model served as a parameter for assessment of attributes and the observation of
efforts to build reliable narratives. To carry out the study, 135 reporting fields were analyzed and six in-depth interviews were conducted. The content analysis
indicated four categories: documental value; fact-checking within the readership.
The latter takes us to the heart of the hypothesis, namely, the verification based on
open sources, measured from what can be called methodology of transparency. The
result revealed high transparency for Agência Pública, medium transparency for
Gênero e Número and low transparency for TBIJ.

[en] DESIGN AND ART DIRECTION: TEACHING WITH THE ART DIRECTION TAROT / [pt] DESIGN E DIREÇÃO DE ARTE: ENSINANDO COM O TARÔ DA DIREÇÃO DE ARTEANDRE WELLER 16 August 2022 (has links)

area of knowledge capable of planning, designing and constructing visualities for
both narrative works and environments. It aims to contribute to the teaching of Art
Direction in an expanded way, as a Design process. In this project perspective, there
are a number of intersections in the field between Design and Art Direction. A
reflection on the role of the Designer and the Art Direction as agents of space
transformation and users of systematic processes is elaborated in the research. The
focus of the study is on the learning process of students of Art Direction. Its object
of study is an own and unprecedented Art Direction teaching methodology
developed by the research author, the Art Direction Tarot, in which students learn
and elaborate their projects in a playful way, through a dynamic with letters. In the
dynamics, letters drawn by the students provide the indication of a specific
environment with spatial and temporal cut, and the student is then encouraged to
develop a visual universe appropriate to the situation, exercising his creativity and
his look at the Art Direction. Based on a theoretical study, the analysis of the
experience of applying this developed practice and interviews with students and
professionals in the areas involved, the intention is to discuss the Tarot
methodology of Art Direction, as well as evaluating news possibilities of in other
contexts.
