[en] ONLINE TRAINING OF NEURAL METWORKS: METHODOLOGY FOR TIME VARYING ENVIRONMENTS / [pt] TREINAMENTO CONTÍNUO EM REDES NEURAIS: UM TRATAMENTO PARA AMBIENTES VARIANTES NO TEMPONITZI MESQUITA ROEHL 26 June 2006 (has links)
mesmas. / [en] The main issue when dealing with non-stationary processes
is related to the requirement of fast adaptation while
simultaneously preventing catastrophic damage to
previously learned behavior. In this thesis, two on-line
learning techniques, one for supervised and the other for
unsupervised artificial neural networks, are proposed.
A new supervised procedure to continuously adjust weights
in a multi layered perceptrons neural networks is
proposed. This methodology is tailored to be used in time
varying (or non-stationary) models, eliminating the
necessity of retraining. The main objective is to keep the
error related to the latest income data within a pre
established tolerance, while maximizing the information
incorporated up to that point. By choosing a balance
parameter, the designer is able to decide on the relevance
that should be attributed to the new data. Non-linear
programming techniques are used in order to properly solve
this trade off optimization problem and on-line calculate
the new weight set. Numerical results for real and non-
real data are presented, illustrating the potentiality and
properties of the proposed approach.
A modular Fuzzy ART model for hierarchical categorization
of data is proposed in such a manner that each module
groups the prototypes of the categories developed in the
previous module or layer. In this way, the hierarchical
levels of successively higher layers learn a more general
pattern from the input data while the lower layers learn
more specific categories. Interesting properties of the
component Fuzzy ART network also apply to this new
hierarchical network model like, fast and stable learning
of arbitrary sequences of analogical or binary input
patterns and the dynamic creation of categories for new
input patterns presentation. Some theoretical results
related to properties of this new approach for clustering
applications are presented, as well as some illustrative
numerical results.

[en] E-LEARNING: LISTENING TO SOME USERS OF THIS NEW TECHNOLOGY / [pt] E-LEARNING: CONHECENDO ALGUNS USUÁRIOS DESSA NOVA TECNOLOGIAANDREA MILAN DOS SANTOS 27 June 2005 (has links)
sozinhas nestes cursos.
planejada. / [en] The Internet has brought huge transformations in the
world. In this new
context, the distance learning had a broadly evolution.
The connections among
network computers have generated a real fast information
exchange and gave
birth to e-learning. Companies soon started to invest in
offering virtual courses
to their employees. Although these employees are, in fact,
using these new
training courses in their day to day, it is possible to
realize that the courses are
not having the expected success. This dissertation aims to
listen to some of
these employees in a manner that captures their opinions
and feelings about elearning.
For that, 20 e-learning users` workers from large
companies were
interviewed. The answers analysis reveals that these
people take on-line courses
looking for time flexibility, schedule adequateness and
agility. However, as the
main reasons to the lack of success of e-learning
strategies, the subjects point
the follow. (1) The companies emphasize knowledge
diffusion and do not
stimulate the human interaction. As result, people feel
alone in these courses.
(2) The courses` content is planned to reach a broad
public and, because of this,
does not fit the subjects` individual needs. (3) There is
a super-aesthetic
evaluation that, in many times, puts the pedagogical
content in a second plan.
This way, the interviewees see the courses as aesthetic,
pleasant but needing a
deeper approach. As a result, it is suggested a revision
in these e-learning
strategies in order to achieve their objectives in a more
suitable way.

[en] MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS IN TRAINING RETURN ON INVESTMENT IN THE BRAZILIAN ORGANIZATIONS / [pt] SISTEMAS DE MENSURAÇÃO DO RETORNO DO INVESTIMENTO EM TREINAMENTO NAS ORGANIZAÇÕES BRASILEIRASCRISTINA GOMES PALMEIRA 08 January 2004 (has links)
A análise qualitativa combinada à
análise quantitativa com uso do software estatístico SPSS
[en] Training ROI, last stage in the training evaluation
methodology, that also includes reaction, learning,
behavior and results, is the object of study of this
research that investigated the existing systems to measure
it in the Brazilian organizations, as well as the
importance of the theme. A broad revision of the literature
about the existing methods to calculate Training ROI was
made and resorted mainly to authors in the United States.
The theoretical reference and the realization of a pretest
in 2002, contributed as basis to formulate a questionnaire
that evaluated the conditions and perceptions for the
calculation of Training ROI in a sample of 75 Brazilian
companies from various states. The qualitative analysis
together with the quantitative analysis using statistical
software SPSS (t test, factor reduction, clusters
formation, MANOVA), concluded that few Brazilian companies
apply measurement systems in Training ROI, but the
perception of its importance is high. A possible example of
application was identified in the Call Center of Vésper,
described at the end of the research, with the interview
made.

[en] A STUDY ON EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAMS AND ENGAGEMENT OF PARENTS AS COTHERAPISTS FOR AUTISTIC CHILDREN / [pt] UM ESTUDO SOBRE PROGRAMAS DE INTERVENÇÃO PRECOCE E O ENGAJAMENTO DOS PAIS COMO CO-TERAPEUTAS DE CRIANÇAS AUTISTASCAROLINA SALVIANO DE FIGUEIREDO 07 February 2017 (has links)
intervenção precoce; Rogers e Dawson, 2010) e o PRT (Pivotal Response
Avaliar a
[en] Studies points to the importance of parents as co-therapists in the treatment
of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. On reviewing some of the
major researches that are concerned with the engagement of parents in therapy, we
observed significant improvements, such as increase of the generalization of skills
learned, significant improvement of affective contact, increase of the shared
attention and especially a greater verbal and nonverbal communication, indicating
the effectiveness of the inclusion of parents in therapy. For communication to be
the main area of intervention, we will cite the development of communication in
typical children and in children with autism. Models such as the ESDM ( Early
Start Denver Model; Rogers and Dawson, 2010) and PRT (Pivotal Response
Treatment; Koegel and Koegel, 2006) consider important and necessary training of
these parents for a better development of children. Both use behavioral and
developmental techniques to stimulate social, communicative, and cognitive
skills. Therefore, it became necessary to cite these two kinds of approaches. The
purpose of this study is to do a bibliographic research, making a theoretical review
of the above methodologies and researches, using these models for training
parents as co-therapists for their autistic children. Evaluate the effectiveness of the
involvement of these parents to treat their children and propose an intervention
based on the parents group, will also be important objectives in this study.
The proposal for a group of parents is presented to motivate their engagement in the
treatment of these children and increase the quality of social and affective
interactions. Groups of training and support are provided as suggestions for
parents are also advised and supported.

[pt] ATITUDE FRENTE A PARTICIPAR DE UM TREINAMENTO DE HABILIDADES SOCIAIS: CONSTRUÇÃO DE INSTRUMENTOS COM BASE NA TEORIA DO COMPORTAMENTO PLANEJADO (TCP) / [en] ATTITUDE TOWARDS PARTICIPATING IN A SOCIAL SKILLS TRAINING: CONSTRUCTION OF INSTRUMENTS BASED ON THE THEORY OF PLANNED BEHAVIOR (TPB)GUILHERME ABRANCHES SUCUPIRA 23 March 2020 (has links)
As
A atitude
[en] Social Skills Training (SST) can significantly contribute to people s development,
both personally and professionally. People s attitudes toward participating in an
SST reveal how much they see this training favorably, and along with subjective
norms and perception of control, can explain the behavior of effectively taking part
in an SST. The objective of this study was to elaborate and search for evidence of
the validity of four scales measuring: behavioral intention, subjective norms,
perception of control and attitude towards taking part in an SST. Participants were
808 Brazilian adults, with mean age 32.3 years, and 64 percent being women. Our results
showed a one-factor instrument with satisfactory psychometric indices. The attitude
toward SST correlated positively with the intention of taking part in an SST, with
five of the six dimensions of basic values, and with general motivation to learn.
Subjective norms and perception of control were positively correlated with
behavioral intention. And behavioral intention correlated positively with
motivation to learn. Evidence of validity was gathered to corroborate the suitability
of the instrument to measure the construct. Also, it was found that women and
people who had already participated in an SST showed higher levels in their attitude
towards participating in an SST. The study points to the possibility of using these
instruments in organizational and academic environments.
