En philosophie analytique du langage, les travaux de Russell sont reconnus comme solution au problème de la dénotation. Cet auteur a fourni un modèle d’explication unique, la théorie des descriptions, pour rendre compte des phrases contenant une description définie. Son analyse a comme conséquence d’éliminer toute possibilité pour une expression descriptive de faire référence à un objet. Elle permet de résoudre plusieurs problèmes logiques et de critiquer d’autres modèles d’explication. En réaction à l’analyse russellienne, des auteurs comme Strawson ou Donnellan ont fait valoir une utilisation possible des descriptions pour identifier ou faire référence à une entité. Cette conception du problème de l’usage référentiel contribue à soutenir la thèse d’une ambiguïté sémantique dans l’interprétation des descriptions. Le développement du mémoire expose les différents points de vue et tranche en faveur de l’interprétation russellienne, à la lumière des développements de la pragmatique. Cette solution a l’avantage de situer et de résoudre le problème dans le cadre général d’une théorie de la communication.

Analyzing the peculiarities of the world of the work in the civil construction, particularly the daily laborer in the seedbeds of workmanships, the study wants to detach the development of the syndical opposition in 1988 with a proposal of reorganization of the syndical relations that were developed by the direction of the union since 1976, and this way reflect on the establishment of a convergence of interests in relation to the laborers of the category. Thus, we analyze how the first experiences in this category from the politician-syndical conceptions of the new direction had been constructed: the I congress of the workers of the civil construction, the first general strikes, the elaboration of the new statute and its politician-legal lines of direction, the project of popular education, the construction of the laboring journal, the leisure activities and the development of nets of solidarity at the moments when the conflict with the entrepreneurs of the sector became hard are some of these experiences that, when being constructed by the laborers, finished for constructing themselves agents protagonists in their world of work. / Esta dissertação analisa as experiências sindicais dos trabalhadores da construção civil de Fortaleza no período compreendido entre meados da década de 70 e 90. Analisando as peculiaridades do mundo do trabalho na construção civil, particularmente o cotidiano operário nos canteiros de obras, o estudo procura destacar o desenvolvimento da oposição sindical no ano de 1988 com uma proposta de reorganização das relações sindicais que eram desenvolvidas pela direção do sindicato desde 1976, e assim refletir sobre o estabelecimento de uma convergência de interesses em relação aos operários da categoria. Assim, analisamos como foram construídas as primeiras experiências nessa categoria a partir das concepções político-sindicais da nova diretoria: o I congresso dos trabalhadores da construção civil, as primeiras greves gerais, a elaboração do novo estatuto e suas diretrizes político-jurídicas, o projeto de educação popular, a construção do jornal operário, as atividades de lazer e o desenvolvimento de redes de solidariedade nos momentos de agudização nos embates com os empresários do setor são algumas dessas experiências que, ao serem construídas pelos operários, eles acabavam por se construir enquanto agentes protagonistas no seu mundo de trabalho.

O presente estudo aborda os Domingos da Criação, encontros de inventividade coletiva, situados entre os campos da arte e da educação. Articuladas pelo crítico de arte Frederico Morais, em parceria com artistas experimentais, essas manifestações ocorreram no espaço externo do Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro, em 1971. Nesta investigação, situaremos esses encontros diante de indagações contemporâneas. Pretendemos, desse modo, construir interpretações que articulem condições históricas à categorias estéticas. Tomaremos como ponto de partida as formulações de Frederico Morais e aspectos da produção artística entre os anos 1960 e 1970. Procurando, por fim, produzir uma leitura dos sentidos experimentais desses seis dias, que contemple relações entre estética e política, arte e educação; expondo a atualidade dessas experiências. / This study concerns the Domingos da Criação, meetings of collective inventiveness situated in the fields of art and education. Organized by the art critic Frederico Morais, together with experimental artists, the meetings took place in the outdoor area of the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro, in 1971. Here we will relate these meetings to contemporary inquiries. We intend to thus interpret these events considering historical conditions and aesthetic categories. We will depart from Frederico Moraiss formulations and the artistic production in Brazil between 1960 and 1970. We aim, at last, to present our view on the experimental meanings of these six days, taking into account the relations between aesthetics and politics, art and education; exposing the contemporary character of these experiences.

A dissertação se divide em três partes: \"O impacto do autoritarismo\", que discute sua relação com as questões autoritárias no campo da literatura e da cultura em geral. \"O impasse com a tradição\", que analisa alguns juízos de valor da autora levando em conta sua relação com a tradição crítica e literária. E \"A problematização de posições\", que aborda alguns posicionamentos de Ana Cristina sobre a relação do escritor com o momento histórico. / This research is focused on the Ana Cristina Cesar\'s critical texts which are found in the posthumous edition, Escritos no Rio. This paper is divided in three parts: \"The impact on the authoritarianism\" which discusses its relation between the authoritarian issues in the literary field and culture in general. \"The impasse in the tradition\" which analyzes some of the author\'s value judgements taking into consideration her relation between critical and literary tradition. And \"The problematization of positions\" which approaches some Ana Cristina\'s opinions on the relation between the author and his/her social context.

Notre thèse porte sur la question carcérale et la gauche révolutionnaire en Italie dans les années 1970 et 1980.La question carcérale devient centrale, en Italie, à partir des années 1970 : ce sont des années de révolte et de revendications de masse, mais aussi la période des mouvements de lutte armée. À ce moment-là, l'État se retrouve confronté à un double problème : d'une part, celui de la réforme du système pénitentiaire, avec des prisons vétustes et des règlements archaïques hérités de la période fasciste, et d'autre part la montée en puissance des mouvements extra-parlementaires et de la lutte armée, qui ne cessent d'augmenter la population carcérale.Cette étude vise à analyser le rôle joué par le système carcéral pendant cette période de crise pour la jeune République italienne, et ceci selon plusieurs points de vue. Nous analysons, d'une part, le mouvement revendicatif des détenus de droit commun, qui se politisent au contact des jeunes extra-parlementaires arrêtés après leurs manifestations. D'autre part, nous étudions la montée en flèche de la violence révolutionnaire qui s'oppose à un État qui, de son côté, accroît l'intensité de la répression et met en place des mesures d'urgence pour contrer la dissidence. Cette confrontation donne naissance à une période particulièrement violente, où la prison fini par assumer une fonction de gestion du conflit politique.À travers la description d'un corpus très varié (articles de journaux, tracts, documents théoriques, documents militants de revendication, archives ministérielles, archives de l'administration pénitentiaire) mais aussi des textes historiographiques et des témoignages directs, cette étude pose la question plus générale du rôle central de l'univers carcéral, comme une véritable clé de lecture sociopolitique des années 70 et 80 italiennes. / Our thesis focuses on the prison issue and the revolutionary Left in Italy during the 1970s and 1980s.The prison question becomes central in Italy from the 1970s: these are the years of revolt and mass claims, but also the period of the armed struggle. At that time, the State faces a double problem: first, the necessary reform of the prison system, with prisons in dilapidated state and archaic regulations inherited from the fascist period ; and secondly the rise of extra-parliamentary movements and armed struggle, which are both increasing the prison population.This study aims at analyzing the part played by the prison system during this crisis period in the young Italian Republic, according to several points of view. We analyze, on the one hand, the protest movement of the common criminals who politicize themselves in contact with the young extra-parliamentary people arrested after their demonstrations. On the other hand, we study the soaring revolutionary violence that opposes the State which, in turn, increases the intensity of repression and sets up emergency measures to counter dissidence. This confrontation gives rise to a particularly violent period in which the prison finally takes up a role of political conflict management.Through the description of a varied corpus (newspaper articles, pamphlets, theoretical documents, activists claim, ministerial archives, archives of the prison administration) as well as historical texts and eyewitness accounts, this study raises the more general question of the prison system as a central key to sociopolitical reading of the Italian Seventies and Eighties.

This thesis explores E. M. Forster's interest in the politics of music, illustrating the importance of music to Forster's conceptions of personal relationships and imperialism, national character and literary influence, pacifism and heroism, class and amateurism. Discussing Forster's novels, short stories, essays, lectures, letters, diaries, and broadcast talks, the thesis looks into the political nuances in Forster's numerous allusions and references to musical composition, performance, and consumption. In so doing, the thesis challenges previous formalistic studies of Forster's representations of music by highlighting his attention to the contentious relations between music and political contingencies. The first chapter examines A Passage to India, considering Forster's depictions of music in relation to the novel's concern with friendship and imperialism. It explores the ways in which music functions politically in Forster's most ‘rhythmical' novel. The second chapter focuses on Forster's description of the performance of Lucia di Lammermoor in Where Angels Fear to Tread. Reading this highly crafted scene as Forster's attempt to ‘modernize' fictional narrative, it discusses Forster's negotiation of national character and literary heritage. The third chapter assesses Forster's Wagnerism, scrutinizing the conjunction between Forster's rumination on heroism and his criticism of Siegfried. The chapter pays particular attention to Forster's uncharacteristic silence on Wagner during and after the Second World War. The fourth chapter investigates Forster's celebration of musical amateurism. By analysing his characterization of musical amateurs and professionals in ‘The Machine Stops', Arctic Summer, and Maurice, the chapter discusses the gender and class politics of Forster's championing of freedom and idiosyncrasy.

A seguinte dissertação tem por objetivo apresentar um estudo a respeito do autor Domingos Pellegrini e sua poética no contexto da literatura dos anos de 1970 no Brasil. Parte dos propósitos da pesquisa é levantar e analisar os percursos de construção da linguagem, os recursos literários utilizados e os temas escolhidos pelo autor. Para isso, tem-se como objeto de trabalho o livro As sete pragas (1979) e, por meio da utilização da teoria literária baseada nos conceitos elaborados, principalmente, por Antonio Candido, com os quais se analisa os contos e novelas do livro, procura-se sistematizar a poética do autor e, ao mesmo tempo, apresentá-lo literariamente como um escritor da década de 1970. Além da introdução, a pesquisa está organizada em três capítulos orientados de acordo com os principais temas implicados na obra, revendo a organização do livro que dispõe as narrativas em uma divisão de gêneros literários, ou seja, três contos e três novelas. Este trabalho, no entanto, reorganiza as narrativas em dois novos conjuntos, em função dos seguintes temas: o primeiro, a respeito do feminino, como representação dos lugares e espaços sociais ocupados ou negados à mulher em As sete pragas; o segundo, sobre relações de poder configuradas por meio dos espaços ocupados pelo masculino no percurso das narrativas, que se reproduzem nos enredos e nas personagens como forma de representação simbólica do sistema capitalista subdesenvolvido, criando uma unidade com o primeiro capítulo; e por fim, o terceiro, sobre dois momentos da obra do autor, correspondendo às duas edições do livro mencionado (1979 e 2007), tendo como referência as entrevistas concedidas para esta dissertação, reproduzidas no anexo, bem como as alterações ocorridas na segunda edição. / The following essay aims to present a study about the author Domingos Pellegrini and his poetics in the context of the 1970s literature in Brazil. Part of the research purpose is to raise and analyze the language construction of his work, the literary devices used and themes chosen by the author. For this, the focus is on the book As sete pragas (1979) and, through the use of literary theory based on concepts elaborated mainly by Antonio Candido to help analyze the short stories and nouvelles in the book. It thereby seeks to systematize the poetics of the author and, at the same time, present him as a literary writer of the 1970s. Besides the introduction, the research is organized into three chapters corresponding to the main themes.
