Discovery Potential Of Quantum Black Holes In Add Model With The Cms DetectorGamsizkan, Halil 01 September 2011 (has links) (PDF)
With the long awaited start-up of the LHC, TeV scale physics is now in reach of the particles physicists to explore. There are many questions about the nature to be answered, and many more theories to be tested trying to answer them.
The ADD model of extra dimensions is one such model, written to address the large mass hi- erarchy between the two fundamental energy scales in nature, the electroweak and the Planck scales. ADD model predicts stronger gravity at sub-millimeter distance scales, which would then lead to an interesting physical object to be produced at proton collusions at the LHC: Tiny quantum black holes.
In this thesis we study the discovery potential of CMS for quantum black hole events for proton-proton collusions at sqrt(s) = 14 TeV. Our study details the trigger response of CMS, various criteria and methods for background rejection, affect of experimental uncertainties on measurements, for different model parameter values.

Improved architectures for fused floating-point arithmetic unitsSohn, Jongwook 05 November 2013 (has links)
Most general purpose processors (GPP) and application specific processors (ASP) use the floating-point arithmetic due to its wide and precise number system. However, the floating-point operations require complex processes such as alignment, normalization and rounding. To reduce the overhead, fused floating-point arithmetic units are introduced. In this dissertation, improved architectures for three fused floating-point arithmetic units are proposed: 1) Fused floating-point add-subtract unit, 2) Fused floating-point two-term dot product unit, and 3) Fused floating-point three-term adder. Also, the three fused floating-point units are implemented for both single and double precision and evaluated in terms of the area, power consumption, latency and throughput. To improve the performance of the fused floating-point add-subtract unit, a new alignment scheme, fast rounding, two dual-path algorithms and pipelining are applied. The improved fused floating-point two-term dot product unit applies several optimizations: a new alignment scheme, early normalization and fast rounding, four-input leading zero anticipation (LZA), dual-path algorithm and pipelining. The proposed fused floating-point three-term adder applies a new exponent compare and significand alignment scheme, double reduction, early normalization and fast rounding, three-input LZA and pipelining to improve the performance. / text

A pergunta atravessa a produção deste trabalho e gera
sujeitos.
Assim, o sujeito buscará agenciar as forças e
As the subject can rearrange in society, with yourself and with the world on
institutionalised violence? The question through the production of this work and generates
some thoughts, ramblings and specific considerations, it does not either assume an obvious
response and so smooth, add e series of facts, spaces and relationships to generate other
analyses of social interactions.
The thesis indicates the possibility of new social relations based on involvement with
reality and in other modes of production. If the institutionalised violence produces its
recurring mechanisms, social relations, collective community present and propose and try
other ways of being. Finally, it is not only new possibilities of social relations, but also other
forms of visibility, interpretation and problem years themselves, i.e., be in society. In this
direction, Michel Foucault, Deleuze, Guattari, Bauman, Mafessoli, among others, will enable
other analysis modes, society of connection modes and variation of the subject.
Written model is circles, indicating the strength and tension of the theme. In other
words, the violence established creates these mechanisms of resemble in the subject, making
interactions, often, their styles. In order to circumvent these conditions, it is a new action, one
based on demand and mercy termination of hatred. Thus, the subject will add forces and
aggregate the differences, social experiences and spaces.
The situation does no presuppose a generalization, the manner does not allocate an
idealism and reality remains in righter. This way, the life invents, experiences, becomes
socially and rearrange, even in the face of adversity and applicants, as is the case of
institutionalised violence in regulating, centralization, unification and control of society.

Poruchy chování a emocí v kontextu školních a sociálních důsledků na žáka 1. stupně základní školy / Behavioral and emotional disorders in the context of school and social consequences for the first grade of elementary school pupilHlaváčková, Kateřina January 2017 (has links)
Behavioral and emotional disorders in the context of school and social consequences for the first grade of elementary school pupil. Abstract: This dissertation dealt with the issue of behavioral disorders with children in younger school age. Its main goal was to ascertine the extent of the behavioral disorders of pupils in the first grade of primary school from the teachers perspective and to find out which symptoms of behavioural disorders are the most frequently manifested by pupils in several elementary schools in Prague. Then to analyze the impact of these symptoms or rather behavior disorder on school results, peer relations and relational attitudes of teachers to pupils with behavioral disorders. The final aim was to find out and assess the cooperation between school and the family. Also interest and willingness of the family to collaborate on potentional correction or educational measures proposed by school. This dissertation is entirely practical because it presents a real pedagogical background and its only respondents were the class teachers, which were supposed to know the relations in the classroom. The theoretical part describes by using a specialized sources at first beavioral disorders that have educationnally, socially or personality conditioned basis, but also disorders for whose cause is...

Search for Supersymmetry and Large Extra Dimensions with the ATLAS ExperimentBertoli, Gabriele January 2017 (has links)
The Large Hadron Collider is the most powerful particle accelerator built to date. It is a proton-proton and heavy ion collider which in 2015 and 2016 operated at an unprecedented center of mass energy of √s = 13 TeV. The Tile Calorimeter is the ATLAS hadronic calorimeter covering the central region of the detector. It is designed to measure hadrons, jets, tau particles and missing energy. In order to accurately be able to properly reconstruct these physical objects a careful description of the electronic noise is required. This thesis presents the work done in updating, monitoring and studying the noise calibration constants used in the processing and identication of hadronic jet in the 2011 data. Moreover the results of the searches for compressed supersymmetric squark-neutralino and large extra dimensions models are also presented in this thesis. The present work uses an experimental signature with a high energy hadronic jet and large missing transverse energy later often referred to as monojet signature. The search for supersymmetry is carried out using an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb-1 recorded by the ATLAS experiment in 2015. The search for large extra dimensions presented in this work uses the full 2015 + 2016 dataset of 36.1 fb-1. No signicant excess compared to the Standard Model prediction has been observed on the production of squark pairs with the subsequent decay of the squark in a quark and a neutrino. Exclusion limits are set on squark production as a function of the neutralino mass. Squark masses up to 608 GeV are excluded for a mass difference between the squark and the neutralino of 5 GeV. In the second search for the presence of large extra spatial dimensions in the Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos and Dvali model scenario a good agreement between data and Standard Model prediction is observed and exclusion limits are set on the effective Planck scale MD of 7.7 and 4.8 TeV for two and six hypothesized large extra dimensions respectively signicantly improving earlier results.

Analysis of logistics applied to the physical distribution of mobile telephones / Análise da logística aplicada à distribuição física de telefones celularesÉlcio José Sotkeviciene 23 March 2002 (has links)
The marketplace competition determines the players to focus on the activities that add value to the products, with the objective of satisfying their customers. In this context, the distribution center becomes the interested area in business activities, due to its connection between productive activity and the customer, as source of added value. The technological development of telecommunications brought to the market one consumer product, of high added value, that demanded a logistic process for its physical distribution and, nevertheless there exists in the literature several studies on logistics, the revision of literature suggests that the majority of these studies have been based in other countries. It is looked for verifying the application of these studies in the locally developed
processes, for the operation of the distribution centers. This study analyses the logistic applied to physical distribution of mobile telephones with the objective of
becoming the source of consult for the implementation of a distribution center for the business activities that have same characteristics in their products. The analyses embraces the criteria for distribution center location, their four basic activities : order processing, packing, warehousing and physical moving, in this one included the analysis of logistics costs, modals, services providers, cargo agents, risk management, shipping documentation and performance indicators applicable to physical distribution. The results of this analysis indicates that the customer satisfaction is achieved through a continuous process improvement of physical distribution operations, fed by the results of its process performance evaluation, keeping by the customers, due to the continuous quality excellence in logistics services providing and value adding.

How symptoms of anxiety, depression, attention deficit disorder (add) or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (adhd) contribute to students self-medicating via marijuana and non-medical prescription drugsThomas, Maria 01 May 2013 (has links)
This study examines student's nonmedical prescription drug (NMPD) and marijuana use and whether anxiety, depression, ADD or ADHD symptoms are associated with their use and if students are self-medicating to alleviate symptoms. The method of obtaining this information was provided by a total of 278 college students who voluntarily and anonymously completed a Web-based survey. This study fills in the gaps of previous research and reveals the most frequent NMPD's used by students and their overall perceptions of their intended effects of the drug and answers why students do not seek professional help for their anxiety, depression and impulsivity symptoms. Results from the survey indicate that students who report NMPD use self- reported higher symptoms of anxiety, depression and impulsivity. NMPD users reported higher percentages of other substance abuse compared to nonusers. The most prominent NMPD's used by students are Adderall and Vicoden or Codeine. Data also indicates student's primary reasons for their NMPD use are related to academic purposes; as opposed to nonacademic. This analysis is further supported by the fact that the majority of NMPD users did not use before they began college and do not use while classes are not is session. Furthermore, students perceive their overall intended effects of their NMPD use to be beneficial, despite the known risks associated with their drug use. By examining college student's current NMPD use we can provide alternative solutions to students who are self-medicating as a coping mechanism for underlying issues or mental health disorders. Also, we can provide them with the necessary services in order to address their problems professionally.
